Dartington Squash Club is situated on the Dartington Estate near Totnes in Devon. We have two courts close to the main buildings at Dartington Hall (the courts are leased from the Dartington Hall Trust).
We welcome new members: please see Membership page for fees and to download a membership form. There are no court fees, and there is no booking system – you can play at any time (except for certain times reserved for team practice, coaching and other events – see Playing).
We are officially recognised as a Community Amateur Sports Club by HM Revenue and Customs to supply facilities for squash and racketball and as such we enjoy charitable status.
There is plenty of parking next to the courts. The rates for this (as at June 2015) are:
• 50p for one hour
• £1 for four hours
• £3 for any length stay from 9am to 9pm
If you play regularly, you might like to become a Friend of Dartington: membership options include one with a permit to park for free in certain car parks (there is one close to the squash courts), for £50 p.a.. See Dartington Hall Trust’s website for more details.
Nearby you will find the White Hart Bar and restaurant, Dartington gardens and other facilities (see How to find us page).
All members are welcome to join the monthly ‘box’ system. There are usually around five boxes, each with five players in them. All players in a box play each other, and at the end of the month the top two are promoted and bottom two relegated. A new person wanting to enter the box system can challenge anyone in any box, and if they win they move into that box (if they lose, they have to start in the bottom box). To enter the boxes please contact Guy Davies (tel: 07765 406953) or Stuart Allen (tel: 07970 569733).
The club runs three teams which play in the Michael Spiers Devon Mixed League. You can follow dates of matches, individual results and the current league positions of the teams on the Nine-Nil site; dates of forthcoming matches and a summary of results are given here. In the 2015-16 season, the first team is playing in Division 2 and the second and third teams in Division 4. Spectators and supporters are always welcome!
New arrangements for open evenings will be made in the near future. Watch this space!
The club has a thriving junior membership, with coaching available, and also runs tournaments during the year.
The club is fortunate to have a qualified coach. He organises group sessions for Juniors and individual coaching by private arrangement.
The courts can also be used for racketball.
