Great, succinct museum in a place charged with heavy, too recent history. Definitely worth a visit. Plan about 30-40 mins. Audioguides currently unavailable due to covid.

Very interesting but heartrending to see the place where so many Jews were killed and tortured.

Not a light experience, but I considered it as a must, visiting the nearby. Free entrance (I took audioguide for 3 Eur, but even without it, the museum provides enough information in Italian and English). This is part of history, not so long time ago.

Well put together as a museum of what should never have happened. Unfortunately we don't learn, everyone should visit as a reminder.

They preserved the history beautifully, regardless of the pain and agony that occurred here.

This is a less known, yet very important site to visit. A remarkable monument of an era that should not be forgotten. For 2 euros only you can buy an audio guide which I really recommend to do so, as otherwise you won't understand what to look at and you won't have all the background information. If you get there by car the most convenient is to park at the supermarket's parking lot nearby.

Interering place to visit but not much to see. A bit off the beaten track though easy to get to by bus. History is tragic and we hope it will not happen again. This is why it is important to visit such landmarks

Small, but nice place to visit, to remember the history. Be aware that with COVID situation today you need a “Green pass” and that many buildings accept limited amount of people at once (2 to 10 people max) so it’s better to come in the morning to avoid queues.

San Giusto is the result of joining two churches together. Impressive interior with a large nave; two aisles on either side; 13th century Byzantine mosaics and a magnificent Gothic rose window. We stayed for mass officiated unusually by a young priest with a sense of humour!

Beautiful church on the hill with really easy access when you are coming by car. It is possible to park in an underground garage on the sea level and the lift takes you all the way up to the church (and castle as well). Definitely one of the best mammals you can visit in Trieste along with the castle, recommended 100 %. Entrance is free within the opening hours.

The ambience inside was quite special. The interior was also decorative and splendid as were the religious depictions and altars. Definitely a place to visit.

You can reach the church after a nice hike up the hill, but the view is worth it. Entrance to the tower costs €2 per person. In the tower you will find four large bells and a beautiful view. Parking is tricky and complicated, for experienced drivers only.

The 13th century Cathedral is absolutly stunning. For its age, the well kept nature of the frescos and artefacts surpasses all expectations. We have seen 18th century churches and cathedrals in worse conditions. Have never seen anything like it, especially a cathedral with so many little chapels inside. Amazing, well worth the climb and visit. Almost looks like a movie set for a medieval fantasy film. A holy place rich with history, relics and color!

It is very impressive once you step inside. This huge art masterpiece behind alter just takes breath away. It was pretty dark, would recommend to stop by, and just enjoy the moment. It’s free

14th century Gothic rose window, the portal and the massive bell tower. The whole of the façade, a hut. S. Giusto is a 'cathedral-patchwork' built in Roman times, on a paleochristian hall. Inside, the cathedral surprises, among the forest of columns, for the width of the five naves and the magnificent mosaics of the Venetian-Byzantine school (XII-XIII century). the magnificent wrought-iron chandelier overlooking the central nave, forged by Massimiliano for the throne room of his castle and then given to the cathedral before leaving for Mexico where he later died.

Beautiful cathedral. Ancient mixed with the modern. Interesting use of nautical motifs eg in the sacristy. A nice cool spot at the top of the city.

Thoroughly enjoyed the inside of the Cathedral. Multiple naves, old alongside new, it was fascinating. Totally recommend the visit.

Molo Audace, formerly Molo San Carlo, is a place dear to the hearts of Trieste's inhabitants. A beautiful place for watching the sunset and spending the evening with friends and loved ones in Trieste. The cruise ships, the restaurants and shops lit up in the evening, musicians playing guitar or violin etc add to the beauty of the place.

Nice little pier that's close to the city centre. What I miss are a bunch of benches to sit down and enjoy the view + those little wooden houses where they sell food, drinks and souvenirs. It could add some more charm in the winter.

A really pleasant place in the city, good idea to have a “molo” for the tourists like this. Best place to see the sunset in good weather, it should be amazing. Unfortunately we had no good weather conditions to see it because it was cloudy. Anyway this place is worth visiting because the view is beautiful and breathtaking.

Of course, the view is incredible. Some ships in the distance and a huge yacht makes the horizon even more interesting. In the evening it’s a beautiful place to watch the sun goes down and ships turn on their lights

It's a good scenery. Walking around town, I parked in coop parking and just started walking. Parking everywhere else is a tight spot and you will be wasting time looking for one. Make sure you applied for green pass since cafe or restaurant are asking for it. I tool some picture while I was sightseeing, a lot of people are walking so it's not bad to venture around and walk towards the port which I didn't have time. There are a lot of graffiti and it would be nice if the city clean up a bit. It might look not safe but it is safe during the day, not sure about night time.

Had a quick visit outside the castle during a Wednesday in March 2023. The area looks beautiful, on top of a hill, and well connected. There is a large plateau next to the castle with some old blocks of stones, where students were playing games and football. The entrance to the castle was clear, only a few people that I saw inside.

This beautiful castle is filled with historical enchanting artifacts, as well as the beautiful setting on a bluff on the Adriatic Sea. Stroll the gardens and stay for the summer evening light show that tells the story of Maximillian and Carlota of Mexico, Napoleons involvement and Frank Joseph of Austria. Sit by the waters edge and dip your foot in the Adriatic Sea, near the Sphinx built to welcome Maximillian home.

The ticket only costs 5 euros. On the wall you will get a very good panoramic view of the city.

Lovely. 2 euros to go up to the tower. Cathedral is free. 3 euros (reduced price) for the musuem. Very worth! The armoury was very interesting and they store alot of the artifacrs underground in the original stone cellars of the battlement where it is nice and cool.

Great little castle. Not from the area perspective, but rather things to view. There is a great panoramic view from the castle, the entrance is 5EUR per adult from 26 to 65. There is an armour museum, and very old church. Actually church is not even in the castle it’s outside the territory, so you can just walk in. I loved it, also one picture did impress me a lot.

This was for sure one of our best meal in Trieste. We shared a boiled meat platter and it was amazing. It's a really great, simple place. We were served extremly fast and were superenthusiastic about the flavours! And I loved the pig plates. :D It's a must for meatlovers!

Real & authentic experience. Amazing food, and a must have is their own Terran wine. Great prices also, a lot of food with 0.5l of wine for two people is less than 50 EUR.

Who knew boiled meat could be so flavorful?! Heard this was a popular spot in trieste and it didn’t disappoint. Minus one cut of meat that was alil dry, everything else was superb especially with mustard. The bread was just an okay. 15.6$ for a 1 person portion + wine! Not bad

Old traditional Buffet. After discussing with the English speaking waiter, I went for half a Jota and the mixed meat plate. More then enough with two glasses of the house wine. 2,50 each.

Cozy place that serves just pork meats. The food was great and service friendly. A little overpriced, lunch for two was close to €50. Sides cost extra, which we didn't see on the menu (maybe we missed it).

Porkalicious! Amazing cuts of pork, all tender and juicy. Served with bread, sauerkraut, mustard, horseradish and of course beer 🍺 and you have a perfect lunch. Fast friendly service.

I don’t know why I stopped for pork when I am on the water. We got the mixed platter of many types of boiled pork. Not really sure what they all were but they were tasty. The cheese assortment was good too. The bread seemed a bit stale.

Hotel and a few other people recommended this place. They were right. This is real local fare with no nonsense service and a quaint atmosphere

The food was delicious, but they made us sit in a table completely under the sun, which, at the 14th of August, was unbearable. They also asked if we wanted some potatoes and sauerkraut, without saying quantities. They brought us 8 plates, which were too much for our group, and the total for the 8 plates of side-dishes were 40€, way too much considering the rest of the menu. Overall I suggest this place because the food was good, but be careful when ordering.

If you are in town (and not a vegan), this place is a must. They have a very simple menu, and it is served in great quality, quickly and friendly. They cook different kinds of meat and meat products in water. You can have a sandwich from this meat, or you can order a plate with a selection of meat. Some bread, mustard and horseradish on the side. For drinks you can choose from wine and beer. Not from a selection of wine and beer, but you can decide what you want to drink and they bring that kind of beer they have. Perfect.

We had an excellent lunch and enjoy the spaghetti in lobster sauce and grilled tuna immensly. They have a very good house white as well. Enjoy!

Fresh and super deliciously prepared fish and frutti di mare, right next to the beautiful sea. Although there is a roof, the whole place is in the open air, which is especially nice during a pandemic. The staff is polite and professional. Portions are decent, so the (quality × quantity) / price ratio is perfect :-)

Loved this restaurant... Beautiful location right on the seaside. Peaceful and Serene. Food didn't disappoint either. Really enjoyed the Nocchitini with Seafood and the Lemon Gelato (with vodka) dessert was amazing.

AMAZING seafood with simple presentation. It’s not fancy, it’s just simply DELICIOUS, intense flavors. Fairly priced, way less expensive and much better quality/ flavours, etc… than the Croatian kitchen. Just allow the host to order for you. Everything we had was delicious and top quality. You can taste the freshness and truly homemade style of the food. Would recommend to anyone who wants great food in an unpretentious setting.

Excellent fish and seafood place , probably the best so far. Fair and reasonable prices with high quality ingredients. 10 euros are the prices for main dishes. We paid 50 euros for 2 appetizers , 2 drinks, 2 main dishes and 2 desserts. All the recommendations for this cozy and old fashioned restaurant !

Brilliant small fish restaurant! The food and wine we had was amazing, very authentic, local, and very tasty! Our waiter was great, really nice and gave us really good reccomendations. Definitely recommend if you are visiting Trieste!

Lovely seafood restaurant. Great value as well. Very friendly host. We went with his recommendations and weren't dissappointed. We had mixed seafood starter, followed by their famous Seafood soup, and a large Sea Bream to share. All excellent, as was the local white wine. Just be aware, you don't get vegetables. All dishes come with Polenta, cooked in different ways with each course. Its quite small inside, about 20 tables only. So essential to make a reservation. Its a bit out of the way, so expect to build up a good appetite if you walk there as we did. Well worth a visit if you can get in.

This is a good place, the food is actually amazing! Typical Trieste food in authentic atmosphere. Cons are: dirty toilets, and no green pass check upon entering (for eating indoors). Service is a bit slow and frantic, but very kind. Would recommend the typical plum gnocchi with cinnamon, they’re outstanding!

Perfect location, tasty food, good service. A bit noisy because of lot of people.

A typical Trieste culinary experience, with products from the land and the carso, and with links to traditional Austro-Hungarian, Bohemian, Slovenian, Croatian cuisines. Tasty, but not the ideal place for fish lovers or people expecting a large vegetarian variety of dishes. Simple but very drinkable house wine, nice deserts. The team is usually cheerful and friendly, and will try to accommodate you. You will be seated in between older local couples, business men or women and tourists alike.

I was amazed at the 5 star reviews given by others , unfortunately our experience was of a1 star restaurant .. probably the worst dinner we’ve had in Italy .. maybe they saw us coming as gullible tourists .. overpriced for the fare on offer, the food was awful , overcooked stewed vegetables , canteen style Italian sausage you could buy better in a supermarket .. small portions of meat , overpriced beer and grappa that tastes like water.. to be avoided like the plague

My husband and I had a really nice experience here. I found the food a little pricey. We ordered the scallop appetizer and fish pasta with mushrooms (forgot the name). The scallops looked wonderful, but we found them very bland and would not recommend this dish. I think sautéing them in butter and adding some salt would make a huge difference and maybe using another vegetable instead of mushrooms with that dish would bring out more flavors. On the other hand, the pasta was phenomenal! It was some of the best pasta I’ve ever had! Also, I really enjoyed the wine and our server was very sweet. I would definitely recommend coming here and maybe just avoiding the scallops.

Some of the best seafood I've ever had before! We enjoyed excellent service. It was my fiancé's birthday and our waitress even found a candle to put in the chocolate cake.

Definitely a place I would rate 5 stars for food and service! Excellent service, incredibly delicious dishes. Highly recommend the plate of crudi antipasti and the spaghetti con bottarga e stracciatella. Ottimo! I would definitely return!

A truly wonderful experience! Do not miss the opportunity to dine at this trattoria. Service is outstanding, the restaurant is clean and welcoming. The chef is extremely gifted. His skill in presenting each dish is refined. We started with a mixed seafood platter, followed by the best seppia risotto I have ever tasted. The finale was was a housemade semifreddo with a carmel sauce and a crunchy cookie topping. We also enjoyed a bottle of local Fruilian wine from an up and coming producer as well as coffee, and a Cynar. Thank you all for this memorable meal.

Words do not describe how happy this experience made us. It was pure luck to find this culinaric treasure chamber while wandering in Trieste. Already before the first bite we had a good feeling: The trattoria was completly full at 14:30 and all of the guests were italians. It was hearthwarming, how passionate and patient the landlady explained the dishes. And our expectations were exceeded. I had the best Fritto Misto of my life and the Pistaccio Cake almost made me cry. I know, that this amazing culinaric place has no need for my rating, but I hope it guides some visitors of Trieste to this place to get the same emotions. Thank you for this experience and all the best from Vienna.

This is one of the best places I ate. The food is amazing! We went there for a business dinner and ordered selection of apetizers to share - there was no single one I would not recommend. The main dishes were also perfect, everyone was delighted. I took the swordfish steak with vegetables and I am still thinking how it is possible to extract so much taste from a white fish. Also, recommended wines were spot on to the dishes. I can only say that you cannot go wrong visiting this place, the food and drinks are among the best I had in my life!
