Great building and Tower. Not really white ;) Though the second biggest city in Greece, Thessaloniki does really feel smaller - a plus, I consider, for such a historic city. There are many historical sites all over Thessaloniki, many of which are not widely known. On Google Maps, just tap the compass to see these, filter by attractions and distance, it'd bring attractions near you and just explore.

The view is mesmerizing. You can see the whole city, mountains, sea,.. easily. But, other than that not much for the castle itself. But I liked the old town and streets. It was a calm place and nice to walk in the town.

One of the best places in Thessaloniki if not the best great area touristic lovely and extremely adorable. Souvenirs and good people around lovely sweet areas to sit and good view around. Highly recommended and highly adored. Will definitely come back.

The cost to enter the building was 3 euros. Nothing is written in English. You would have to pay for and audible device to listen to for the tour. Just FYI is to watch your head. Most of the ceilings and the entrances to each rooms are built for Hobbits. I did really enjoy the overall experience though. The view on the very top was beautiful. I would recommend to see this place.

Very nice place. I was there in December so no queues and very little people. There is a nice view from the top. Definitely worth going up. In each floor there is a small exhibition, for example of old photos (how does this tower and it's neighborhood looked like hundred years ago). Small gift shop at the top floor. I think people up to 26 years have a free entrance. View from the top is amazing.

The best place for a great view. The tower offers a spot for a watch over the city center and the port. The tower is a museum now days and you will have to pay 6 euro entering it. Inside there are a round stairs surrounding the tower all the way up. Nice and fun for taking pictures on the back of the great views of the city.

The Tower is a relic of the city’s fortification. Currently a museum of the history of Thessaloniki. The entrance costs 3 euro and you better take that audio guide with you (it’s free od charge) because everything is only in greek. Six floors of interesting content and a balcony with a magnificent view. Prepare yourself for some stairs (start a week before on that stair climber at your gym ;)).

A beautiful place with a panorama. The ticket (6€) includes an audio guide in 4 languages (English and Russian for sure), but you need your own headphones for the audio guide. This surprised me a little. There are a lot of installations inside, but everything is in Greek and an audio guide would help to understand more. At the very top there is a beautiful panorama of the city around.

Had to be visited as the main attraction point in Thessaloniki. The area around it is great and externally it is an impressive building. The view from the top is great but than again it is not hugely tall and after a few photos I assume you get down. I can't see the appeal of the exhibition inside unless you are Greek speaking. There is not a single English description next to the exhibitions. Audio guide recommended by QR code was: done poorly and not good to walk through the exhibitions (single audio track per floor). You can't listen to it on mobile unless you had earphones on you or quickly each floor is filled with cacophony of multiple visitors listening loudly on mobile. Google lens for translation worked on some exhibits but is will drain your mobile battery quickly. This could easily be improved.

It is kind of a place populated by homeless people. You can take a boat tour here, but I did not really like it overall as it is not really friendly for tourists infrastructure wise and information points or clean spaces or benches to sit outside in the shade when there is very hot to be outside.

Not to crowded. Bought the tickets as soon as we entered. Scanned QR code for the audio guide and enjoyed our tour. There's a lot to learn and see about Thessaloniki's history. When you get to the top you'll be rewarded with the astonishing view of the city.

I loved the feeling of openness to the sea... it's amazing! We followed tradition and touched Aristotels large toe so we will most definitely return to Greece!

An indispensable part of the city’s heritage. This type of architecture demonstrates how unique this place is. The only downside is that the government should be stricter with vandalism and pay more attention to damages happening throughout the years in an attempt to retain the area intact and beautiful. The square could also comprise mini shops or activities for the visitors, instead of being a large empty square solely used for walking. The area should be treated more as a landmark, than being empty and just surrounded by nice buildings and a bus stop.

This is the main square of Thessaloniki. It has restaurants around it and in the other side lots of bakeries. It is close to main street with a lot of shops and in the other side you can find the port. Lots of car parking around (not free).

The most famous and the most beautiful square in North Greece near by the port and in the heart of the city with plenty of cafes and restaurants and take away places also a lot of benches to sit and enjoy

Nice open place. Beautiful ocean site. Shops and restaurants all around. Many of the tourist attractions are within 7-12min walking distance (Agia Sofia Square Church, Ancient Agora/Roman Forum of Thessaloniki, Agios Dimitrios, The Rotunda, Arch Of Galerius, etc). We had a 6hrs stopover, on our flight from Frankfurt to Athens, so we took the opportunity to check out Thessaloniki, the ancient capital of Macedonia! The airport shuttle took around 45minutes (Bey Hamam bus stop). Cost only 2€ pp! Taxis are available too. Everyone speaks English and very helpful and kind. The bus stop (we found) to return to the airport was 1 min from Arch of Galerius. Across from Holy Church of Panagia Dexia. Bus # (O1x). If you are in Thessaloniki must visit this place.

Came to Grecee from 16 Aug to 28 Aug from Singapore. A party of two people total. We mainly did a self drive with a small car to get around from location to location. This is like the main square here and you walk all the way up, it looks really nice the first time but it gets pretty normal afterwards. The whole sqare itself gets quite crowded sometimes esp during dinner time. Its quite an easy street because you can always re-direct yourself once you come across this square. There isnt alot of seating here and I've seen a few public restrooms as well but I cant say if they were clean or not. The floor is made of marble and is quite smooth and nice

Plenty of shopping and many restaurants to choose from. It's getting festive for the holidays! Visit this place in the center of the city to experience live music being played by locals, enjoy breakfast, lunch, or experience some night life. Very close to the sea side also.

This museum is smaller than the one in Athens, but I think it presents its subject much better. Displays are more carefully constructed to tell their story. I enjoyed visiting and learned a lot.

Very clean and delightful experience. Plenty of history to look at. They offer a single day pass or a three day pass to visit other sites outside of the museum. There is air conditioning and plenty of languages available. The direct translations on the walls are green and English though. Staff is very friendly.

1. Thessaloniki archeological museum is situated centrally and we'll within many other museums and within walking distance of white tower. 2. The front desk is really helpful. Make sure you hand over your heavy luggages to the locker so that you can roam around the museum freely. 3. A flyer from the front desk will help you to install the museum app, which will give audio tours for selected display items. 4. Many interesting pieces including many ceramic items, sculptures, jewellery and remains of an embalmed lady is on display. 5. Prepare to spend around 3 hours of fun filled day if you are ready to enjoy the history to the fullest.

I love this museum!!! I’ve been to so many museums but this one is the only one that I came back twice within two days! I feel amazed by the ancient people’s wisdom and skill sets for making the gold jewelry. I couldn’t move my feet in front of those art pieces. Highly highly recommend!!!!!! Beautifully displayed archaeological museum, one of the largest in Greece. Gold and artifacts from ancient tombs dating well over 1000 years. Don’t miss the Field of Gardens outdoors (no tickets required for outside).

Very nice & surprisingly large collection. When you first walk in, it doesn’t seem to be that big of a building, but the rooms are deep and contain a lot of really nice items. When you walk in, there is a temp check before you can buy a ticket. Make sure you use your forehead for the temp (and not your wrist like all of the other places) or they will yell and make you come back. No biggie. My favorite portion of the museum is the downstairs bit that has the pictures and drawing of Thessaloniki from antiquity. Some of them are room-size and very detailed so it’s easy to see and understand.

The entry is free for adults under 25. As a 25+ year old, you can get a 15 euro ticket to visit the Archeological Museum, the Museum of Byzantine Culture and the White Tower. The ticket in question is valid for 3 days! The staff is friendly and the the lockers are free. Very enriching experience. You’ll leave the Museum with a greater understanding Thessalonian culture!

One of, if not the best museum I've ever visited. Everything is clean, extremely well-organized and prepared, and there's a text in English to describe every artifact. Captivating all the way through, and mesmerizing really. I came there on a friend's recommendation, and wasn't disappointed. If you're interested in history, it's a must. I'm not even a history craze myself, though I loved it.

Many interesting tools and tomb accessories to see, also with the history of the city. But still they need to get some things straight while mentioning Turks instead of Ottoman Empire which does not add up according to the time periods mentioned.

Nice place, if you are student, you don't have to pay for the entrance, for most of exhibitions. Info boards are in English, there is lot of tekst so it's hard to read everything during one visit. For me it was too dark for a little and I had problems with few boards, but maybe it's only my problem. Inside you can find toilets and gift shop with wide choice of products.

It holds many stunning artifacts from Thessaloniki and surrounding areas. Tickets are €6 or you can get the combination ticket €15 which allows you entry into 4 attractions.

Very interesting museum on the Byzantine era! There are 11 different rooms that follow on from each other in a sequential order. A wide variety of religious, architectural and ceramic artifacts are on display. We took around 2 hours to complete the museum.

The museum has 11 rooms to visit, and each room is perfectly clean, beautiful, rich in artefacts, explanations, and history. There's also an audio guide (handheld phone device) in every major language, and the whole museum is well ventilated, and once again, extremely clean and spacious. There's a lot to see, the museum is included in a special package that costs 15€ for 4 different places in Thessaloniki (archaeology museum, white tower, byzantine culture museum, rotunda), which is a bargain. All in all, this museum is a must-see for every history enthusiast, and a pleasing endeavor for everybody else. Once again, the number of artefacts and findings, and the state in which they were kept is outstanding.

I went at 7:30 pm on one of the free museum nights (Aug 1 & 31 are free after 6:30 pm). I didn't know about these free nights, so that was a nice surprise. The museum stayed open until 11 pm, so I got to see everything and take my time admiring all the various collections. It was not crowded at all so it was a pleasant visit. The museum is beautiful, and uses a virtual reality app on your phone too for a more immersive experience. It's well maintained and I learned a lot about the early Christians and about Byzantine Culture. It's definitely worth the visit, and I would have paid had it not been free on the day I went. It deals with current area from the early Christian (partially antique Greece) era to more modern medieval Christian era. Very interesting and well ordered museum that should be on every visiting list of culture seeking tourist. Recommend. The building is air-conditioned and the collection is quite wast.

It's a large museum with 10 spacious rooms filled with fascinating exhibits, so be prepared to spend some time here if you're interested in history. The exhibition provides excellent English descriptions for all the items. You can choose to listen to an audio track either through a downloaded application (free WiFi is available) or by using provided audio devices, which require leaving a document as collateral. Well planned out collection of Byzantine history from the 3rd century ce to 1453, and post Byzantine. Everything was presented well, with an audio guide (on your phone or separately) available. Staff very helpful. If you are curious about Byzantine history, this is a must see.

Alexander is riding towards Athens as shown with this magnificent monument. Many great symbols on the shields are shown next to this statue. Ancient symbols of mythological signs and the crests of major city states. This is my favorite attraction in Greece and I recommend visiting it and paying this man tribute by sitting in the relaxing and great park nearby. He united the feuding Greeks, Macedonians and other people to bring peace and harmony. He defeated quarreling lords who had mainly their own well-being, corruption or other bad ideals in mind and action instead of serving their fellow people as good leaders should do. Rulers who saw his good intention did not fight him. They submitted for the greater good. This man was called Alexander the Great and there was no other like him. 👑🌍

This statue is not hard to find. Enjoy your stroll along Thessaloniki modern concrete sea walk. I would say an hour would do and try to catch it with sunset!

Mighty monument dedicated to the one of the best military leader in history world. Must visit if You are in the this nice city.

As someone named after the great conqueror himself this is one of my favorite places to visit when I'm nearby. It's an amazing statue designed by the artist Evaggelos Moustakas. Worth visiting to say the majesty of the statue.

Not only were the hosts gracious, seating us before our reservation time, but the food was fantastic. Everything we ordered was delicious. The starters, Greek salad and eggplant salad were excellently prepared and spiced to our liking. The main courses were also perfect, grilled pork belly and Greek meatballs - nice sized portions. Then a surprise dessert, which we were almost too full to eat. This place is definitely worth a visit.

The staff was very polite. Enjoyed the sitting outside and enjoyed the sea breeze. The food menu is enjoyed by locals and visitors would most definitely like. Highly recommend. Would come back again to try more items. Try the pork skewer (my coworker enjoyed).

It was delicious. We had smoked mackerel and pork. All very tender. We received a compliment from the house-cake with orange and ice cream. The food came very slowly even that the restaurant was not so full. That's why I put 4 stars.

I really liked the warm goat cheese with marmalade and oyster mushrooms. Wasn’t impressed with the steak and beef tagliatelle. Dessert chocolate pie was also tasty.

Great place for dinner and lunch (we have been there twice dinner and lunch). The food is very tasty. The salads were huge and fresh. The cezar salad was with plenty grilled chicken bites and bacon. The Greek salad came with yogurt and Feta cheese. The ribeye steak was grilled to medium and it was tender and juicy. The service is excellent. Lots of traditional food, big portions, great atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable

Absolutely beautiful and tasty food. Hard to get in in the evening as it is pretty packed. Service was nice, with a free Mastika drink at the end. Would recommend to anyone visiting Thessaloniki.

A big disappointment. The service is bad: everything had to be asked three times. Charged us for water and bread though we didn't ask and it was served to us even before we got the menu. It took more than 20 minutes to get the food. The food: small over priced purtions that would leave even my cat hungry. It's a disgrace to call it the main dish. The taste itself was not good. It was edible, but I wouldn't call it tasty. They somehow even managed to ruin the fish and chips: a few small pieces of not tasty fish with a lot of chips. I ordered pasta with shrimps but got rice with shrimps for some reason. They wrote in the menu that it's their speciality but even that wasn't tasty. We were three people and all agreed that their food just is not good. The only reason they didn't get one star was because they treated us desert on the house.

We ordered the calamari and shrimp boxes as well as bread. The boxes consist of mostly chips though and the shrimp in particular were 4 pieces. For the price I guess we didn't expect anything different. The shrimp themselves though were so seasoned that I would be hard pressed to tell you what I was eating hadn't I known that they were shrimp. They were pretty tasty though. The bread was a whole loaf and was delicious. Something that I didn't quite like was that upon seating we were immediately served water and later with the bill we found out that it was charged. Nowhere in Greece have I had that happen. Water usually is complementary especially if they serve it without you ordering it. Maybe it's different in Thessaloniki, it was our first time there. Overall it was worth it. The service was great as well.

Great place for lunch in a historic part of town, great service and I remember most was at they end they offered a free shot but many choices and as many shots as you like. She left them on the table. Superb. Pasta was done in front of you in a stone bowl.

Very deliciuous dishes. Highly recommend steamed mussels. The bread costs €2, if you don't want bread, tell them. I like the bread because it was put in a hot wood plate. Nice staff, nice atmosphere, good price (about €60 for 2 people).

The restaurant locator the busy area. A lot of shops around. You could walk around after the meal. I had busy schedules so I took taxi there and taxi left right after that. But this vibe around is like my hometown. People are relaxing and chill. Food: I order the shrimp pasta. Great taste with some rich cheese feeling. The portion is a bit small as I expected though. Service: the staff is friendly but a bit slow pace. I think this is the typical style here:) Environment: next to a popular coffee bar and the old hammam museum historic building (doesn’t open to public) Many people around. Location is a bit far from the seashore. But accessible. €18 for the pasta. I 🤔 is the market price. If you love pasta, try it.

Great place, fresh and delicious food, top service, manager is checking on all customers to make sure all good, very polite and friendly. I love the Kalamari fish box! I am also impressed by the hygiene and toilet - having all cosmetic and toiletry one may need including luxury perfume😀 Definitely must visit!

Great place ,fresh seafood, and tasty wait staff are wonderful. I had a few things like the grilled calamari, the grill sardines, and both were superb. I highly recommend this place.

The place is great, especially outside. We ordered grill calamary and shrimp. They were amazingly delicious! The food delivery is a little bit late but it will definitely worth the wait. I can say the prices are also affordable. You definitely need to visit this place in Thessaloniki..

This was a real high spot on our culinary travels in Thessaloniki. I’d done a little research and found some good reviews of this restaurant for its mere selection. It’s based in a cute little square surrounded by other restaurants so I imagine the competition must be quite fierce. Having worn our feet out from walking we fell into our chairs and was greeted by an older gentlemen who I believe may have been the owner. He pulled up a chair and took our order and was happy to see us (always a good start) We ordered a few small plates but decided to get the meat bbq platter to share. It only took 10 minutes for our food to arrive and we already had our drinks so the service is impeccable here. The meat platter was a nice mix of local sausage, beef, pork, lamb and chicken all in nice palatable portions. This along with our Greek salad, dips and bread was more than enough to keep us going and in fact we didn’t eat anything else that day such were the portions on offer! I loved the vibe here were you can people watch, listen to the chatter of local gossip (I assume that’s what the Greeks do too haha) and get the occasional street performer. Swinging by with his guitar. We would definitely return to this lovely little spot.

A small and modest place on a side street where we got lost. Lucky, because this was a find in a big city and away from all the hustle and bustle! We ordered 4 meze and all were really tasty and homemade. If you want to enjoy authentic Greek food and are not in a hurry, come here! strong recommendation 🥰. The host does everything herself and also serves the food. With the bill, a lovely piece of sweet and raki!

Great experience all around. The servers were super friendly and the small plates were delicious. It is very lively in all corners of the restaurant and outside. Order in stages, the small plates are more food than you think.

Great experience! Food was delicious and the ambience was great. The restaurant was very busy on the Monday evening but we were able to get a seat straight away (though inside). Their seafood was superb and the quantities decent for a very tourist heavy area. Only negative is the staff - though many- seemed over worked and it took an absolute age to get staff to do anything (take order, bring bill etc). Would visit again and would recommend!

“Foul tou meze” is located in Ladadika of Tnessalonikis. Really nice decor and of course taverna vibes as it should. We ordered mix grill for 2 and some add up plates. Really nice service and really good prices. I highly recommend a reservation, especially on weekend since there always a huge line.

Everything about this place is great. The food is amazing and cheap, compared to the quantities. The location si fabulous, the staff the same. They offer free desert. We payed 40€, for 2 people. 15€ were only the drinks: 1 water, 1 beer. 1 glass of whine, 1 glass of ouzo. We ate 4 different dishes and bread for 25€. So basically it's free :)) and again, it's a lot of food. Check it out, you won't be dissapointed LE: we tried to eat again here, on Friday night. The place was full and also people waiting in line. So i suggest uou make a reservation

Traditional Greek tavern. It is located in a nice square with a fountain. The variety of Greek food you can try here is HUGE, really, almost too many options! I have tried the tsatsiki (good, not exceptional) and the onions filled with minced meat and stuff, they were very good. In the grilled vegetables they had fenomenal grilled mushrooms. Prices are low. The staff was a bit slow in serving and only one of them spoke English, but overall they tried to satisfy us.

One of the rare restaurants where even my mom and dad did not find anything missing in food quality. They said even best meal they had in a long time. They had pork steak (500gr). Service was fast and very pleasant. Food tasty and fresh. Ambient cozy. Bread so crunchy and tasty

Restaurant in a cute alley way hidden from the main streets of Thessaloniki. All dishes we ordered were very yummy, and I especially liked the fried mushrooms. The service was fast and friendly. We also got dessert on the house.🙌 Since we had late lunch, we didn't have trouble getting a table without a reservation, but it looked pretty full even for that time so might be best to book a table if you're going for regular lunch or dinner time.

Definitely a place we will recommend all to visit. Great atmosphere in the evening where you can sit outdoor in the cool air for a fine meal. We had the grilled octopus, seafood orzo pasta and fried calamari with beers. All were very well done. I especially like the Seafood Orzo Pasta with its generous seafood and taste. It would be perfect if we have a more generous serving of the octopus and smaller serving of the fried calamari.

I was disappointed with this restaurant. With the amount of positive reviews I was expecting an entirely different experience. The service was good, but that's pretty much it. The dishes were very small and expensive proportionally to their price. 7 shrimps for about 15 euros, it barely can pass as a first dish. The taste was less than mediocre. The shrimps dish was described with garlic, I thought they'll find a way to mix the flavors in an interesting way. But all they did was to fry the shrimps next to garlic cloves. Every idiot can do that. No need for a restaurant for something so simple. I ordered another dish because I was (obviously) left hungry. Its taste was also mediocre, but at least more satiating. Unfortunately it seems they don't think that the food needs to be tasty, only edible.

The restaurant is a hidden gem in the city. Although you do not have a seaview here, I would recommend the place as the atmosphere is very relaxing. Food is delicious and we were served very quickly. There was live Greek music which was adding to the great quality of the food. The beetroot salad had some mint flavoured dressing which was amazing. The octopus and the calamari were just perfect.

Honestly, one of the best places where I have eaten in my life. We came back twice during our holiday. Incredible food, good price, great service, wonderful atmosphere. Moussaka, fried zucchini and millefoglie truly unmissable. It is very busy, particularly during the weekend so book in advance!

Defiantly one of the better restaurants in Thessaloniki. Very very rich menu from all over greece, and all the dishes were great. Great atmosphere in a quiet ally and a great service.

We visited Rouga on a busy Saturday evening and the staff helped us finding a table immediately. There was live Greek music, but too loud, which is nice. The menu has a great variety of Greek food and we tried many appetizers and a main dish. Everything was excellent and in good quantities. Their wine is also very nice. Overall, one of my favourites in the city. Keep it up!

We visited this restaurant for the first year last summer when we had a great experience in terms of service and food. This time as if everything has deteriorated. Staff wasn’t that friendly and welcoming. The main dish (lamb) was too fatty with almost no meat. The salad was also not as good as the previous time. Only the crunchy zucchini were delicious for real. The live music was cool though. Only disadvantage of this spot is that there are a few other restaurants with live performances around and you get to hear all kinds of music which gets too loud and makes it hard for people who want to converse.

Best food that we have tasted in Greece! Amazingly fresh seafood, big portions. No regrets that we stopped here! It’s really worth it.

The food was super delicious, everything was perfect! There was live music which was great and the atmosphere was just amazing! The staff was very professional too and everything that we ordered came really fast even though the restaurant was full! Def recommend to make reservation before going because there were people waiting for a table! Perfect place to visit while in Thessaloniki! :)

Really nice place with live Greek music. Although you don’t think much of it at first, the food is really nice! Soft and well cooked meat, fresh ingredients! Congrats to the chef! Highly recommended!

It is located at Ladadika district. Fast and kind service. Delicious dishes and good prices. It has live music at night. Worth a visit.

We where there on Friday evening on the second floor, so there was a minimum order of 25 Euros per person, excluding drinks. The food was excellent. The Group of musicians included 2 singers, one guitar player, one pianist and one bouzouki player. The music and atmosphere was excellent you simply can't sit down and not dance. The only remark I have on the place is that people started to smoke toward the end of the evening, which made the staying there uneasy.
