Really stunning ancient walls, well preserved and a calm place for walks in the evening. Lovely restaurants and shops around the area. Whilst it is one of Splits most popular tourist attractions there really isn't much to see compared to landmarks in bigger European cities

The palace and grounds are an amazing opportunity to step into the past. A guided tour would take you 2 hours approx but give you a history of the development of the palace and it's many uses. Also, at midday every day there is a small 'welcome' from the acted ruler and soldiers at the door to the palace.

A fascinating area of Split. Which draws in a lot of tourists. We found it best visited early morning as the foot traffic was less. This allows you to capture the beauty in a more relaxed environment. The streets are beautiful, and some of the alleys are tiny. Just walk round and take it all in. Tickets are needed for attractions such as Bell Tower and Cathedral but elsewhere free. Keep your eyes peeled for faces and artwork on the walls above eye level. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area, and it's buzzing with life. Which is also great.

We were so stunned walking through this Roman palace in Split! It is actually the world's most complete remains of a Roman palace. On first sight you may not recognize it as a palace as it looks rather like a city wall. This is because in post Roman times the people of split built their city inside the palace. So you will need some imagination when visiting. Best is to start your way in the cellar, entering from the harbor side. Then walk your way up to the historic Peristyle. Also three of the original four gates are preserved. Our biggest highlight was the temple of Aesculapius. Five stars is not enough for this site and even our kids could not get enough of it!

Great place to see. A lot of activities here. Shops, food, drinks, etc. Please make sure you allow yourself enough time at this ancient historical site. There is so much to see. You need at least 2 solid days to explore all the nooks and crannies, streets and alleyways. Only parts of the original palace remain but are still a significant chunk of the site. It's interesting to see how the newer portions intermingle with the original. If you are into ancient history and enjoy the grandure of construction from that time, this is the place for you. Well... given the multitude of other activities, it's a great place for everyone. Oh, and don't forget to check out the Riva and enjoy the view of the Adriatic sea.

With all the restored and still standing ruins, the experience makes it magical. The architecture of all the remaining structures from the Baroque period back to the Middle Ages can be seen despite the bombing that occurred during WW2. it was truly a site worth visiting

Such a great place to spend a few days. Nice restaurants and cafes and lots of history down the small lanes. You need a ticket to go into the cathedral and some of the other historic sites, but it's not much and definitely worth it. Ticket office is right next to the cathedral.

Amazing place, beautiful, kept in good condition. It's best to visit early in the morning to avoid the crowds of visitors. The atmosphere there is absolutely gorgeous and makes you want to come back there again. From the Palace, you can enter a maze of charming little lanes spreading out all over the old town. This place is a must see!

Stunning Roman remains right in the heart of Splits. Most of the palace can be visited for free and there are great views of the harbour when you get to the second level. I also highly recommend checking out the crypt for some more touring but I would stay away for the shops as they're overly expensive and clearly tourist traps.

Obviously some of the sights in Split, even though I don't really get why that's the case. The sculptures are okay-ish but nothing extraordinary. So yeah if you're into that form of art enjoy. Gardens and view from the terrace are also quite okay. Also included in the entrance is a chapel some two hundred metres down the street to the left, which again offers beautiful sea views.

I love that gallery with a beautiful garden with many sculptures and an amazing view at the sea below. The gallery is neat and clearly marked. The sculptures are absolutely breathtaking. Entrance is 50 kunas per person with a possibility to visit a nearby chapel. Highly recommended.

this place is super cool! if you are reading this post, please get to know about the history of this gallery at their website. i will start with the floor, the entire place has marble floors. mixed with wood. air conditioning is great ☀️ the outside garden is beautiful full of sculptures. don’t miss out the balcony at the first floor. you can have great pictures there. enjoy!

Wonderful sculpture gallery/museum dedicated to Croatia’s most prominent sculptor of the 20th Century, Ivan Meštrović, whose works are also prominently displayed around Split’s old town. The museum included full size bronzes, as well as studies, plaster models, sketches and his paintings. Worth a visit if you’re into sculpture and are visiting Split.

Absolutely beautiful gallery which such amazing and friendly staff! It's worth taking the trip to explore around and visit the Chapel. The views from second floor are stunning if you've got the perfect weather.

This museum has so much potential. It has AMAZING Roman artifacts and yet, there’s basically no information at the museum about what exactly you are seeing. There are little plaques that tell you what each item is but there’s no big picture on Roman life in Split. Further, the exhibit on Vis has no English information at all. This could be a five-star museum with just a bit more information for visitors.

I expected a larger exhibition but the artefacts on display are worth seeing. Definitely a place any museum enthusiast should visit.

Museum was actually closed for renovations, however we were able to walk the portico and see the limestone carvings and mosaics.

We loved the museum. I read the reviews before going saying that it is a small place with few exhibits, and i couldn't disagree more. sadly, because of this, we timed the visit poorly and we had to hurry. It is rather small but PACKED with exhibits and if you use an app to translate texts and photos, it's all very nicely done. I wish to visit the place again soon.

Do NOT go to this museum. The entrance fee is definitely not worth 8€. If you do chose to visit this museum, you will only get to see tombstones with no context whatsoever. You will not learn anything about the city of Split. Inside the museum, you won't see any historical pieces – only reproductions and explanations (of very poor quality ; ChatGPT definitely wrote them) as to how they were reproduced. Save your money.

Not the best archeological museum experience. It had an excellent exhibition on Roman glass that was five stars in itself, however the main bulk of the exhibits are outside and mainly consists of artefacts from the necropolis at nearby Solina. This is mainly sarcophagi and inscriptions. There are some labels, but the bulk falls into the pile of broken stuff category. I’d give it one star for that. If you are really into Roman history and your Latin is up to scratch, then it’s great.

Fantastic museum in a beautiful building and grounds. Very cheap entry, not busy so easy to enjoy a proper look around at your own pace and take everything thing in. We'll varied selection of different cultures and eras. Well worth a visit.

@Jess Gibson is completely right. This museum has so much potential. Could be 5 stars if more effort was put into the information ie English. There are book guides of the area for 25kona but not of he museum itself. It's 40kn or about $6usd to enter. Really amazing artifacts. Very well displayed. Just not very much information. Great building too.

I have been there one time and I really loved a lot . It’s very a small theater but really well preserved. Looking forward to comeback again in a future .

Great theatre with a great atmosphere surrounding it. We caught a random display outside it with different people from different cultures singing and dancing. What a great place.

One of the popular Croatian National Theatres (1893) with really nice variety of shows and high quality performances! I personally especially enjoy ballet!

The park/forest is really beautiful. And being by the shore, it provides amazing scenery. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars, is because I didn't see any security. So it could be my skepticism, or just me not being use to having such a safe place. So it is a nice walking, tourism spot and I would go back for sure.

What a stunning place to visit in Split. The park is beautiful to hike across from the old town of Split to the top. We hiked down to the beach and boy it was stunning! There’s a lot of greenery and the view of the town from the top is absolutely amazing. If you have more than 2 days in Split, please consider putting this spot to your bucket list.

Really enjoyed the walk here - serene, wooded with trails and steps. There is a small zoo of domesticated animals and a botanical garden. A healthy workout! And beautiful views from the top.

Absolutely mandatory to visit and stroll around the park if staying in Split. Gorgeous views and a very relaxing atmosphere. If you start from Marjan Hill Stairs and make your way around the park you'll end up near some amazing beaches to relax on after the hike!

a huge park where you can see churches, many viewing platforms and other sights that I have not visited;) the terrain is quite difficult in places, you should have suitable shoes. We parked our car near the beach, in August it can be a tricky part. The views of the sea and Split are beautiful, so I advise you to visit.

This park is stunning, from the climb at the beginning to view from the very top its is beautiful. It can be quite a tough climb at times (really depending on your level of fitness) but it is genuinely worth it. I would have loved to have walked the entire length but we had a lot to pack into the few days we had. Maybe next time...

Beautiful, very relaxing place with gorgeous views of Adriatic sea. Excellent for a hike, walk or bike ride. Air from the pine trees is absolutely pure. It felt so great to go for a swim after hiking.

Very nice park within walking distance from the centre of Split. The park is largely car free and that makes the park very pleasant. You have beautiful views and you can also go to the beach.

First and foremost this is a huge park, easily larger than the whole of old town, with plenty of room to spare. There are several very large footpaths that lead mostly around the Marjan Hill after which the park is named. Several beaches can be accessed from the park, best ones being located on the southern side. There are also some ancient churches along the footpaths as well as great vistas, a museum and a small zoo. Recommended.

A must see place. The view from the top was amazing. Recommend bringing A LOT of water with you, specially if you plan on visiting during the peak heat hours of the day.

It is quite a climb especially in the heat. We went as far as the first summit which included 340 steps at that point!!. The wildlife and plants are amazing and of course the views. Only disappointment was the restaurant cafe on the way back where tables were reserved or taken so the my thirst could not be quenched, shame after all the walking and heat.

Excellent quality service and ambiance. Lovely service from our waiter. The food was fresh, high quality and beautifully plated. We went for a lunch and ate dishes from the starters side of the menu and main menu. All dishes were stunning and excellent portions. The waiter also recommended a very exquisite red wine. 10/10 would recommend.

The food was really good, portions were fine. The restaurant has a romantic dating vibe. Waiters are helpful and polite, and even though we (unknowingly) arrived not long before the kitchen would close, they made an effort to accommodate us. Prices are a bit too high for my taste though, the food and cocktails tasted good but I still left thinking I’d rather have spent less. I’m sure this is not a problem to everybody, so I still leave the 4 stars. Just be aware of the tourist prices.

Very nice restaurant. Atmosphere is really nice, staff is super friendly and great service. Everyone at the table enjoyed the food they ordered. Location is ideal and their wine selection was great. Our waiter recommended really good local wine.

The best food we had in Split by far! I wish I could bring this place home with me. The staff was also very nice and accommodating for our toddler. We only had a chance to eat breakfast here and it was amazing; I wish we had a chance to try lunch. The fluffy eggs were our favorite item - perfection might not describe them well enough. The sunny side up eggs were very good, cooked and seasoned perfectly. And the banana bread was fantastic.

Great quality, service, and ambiance. Lovely service from our waiter. Food was fresh, high quality and beautifully plated. Bread was very very good, you can tell it was made fresh that day and with a cared for sourdough starter. I personally loved the bread with the seeds in it. We went for a late lunch and ate dishes from the starters side of the menu. The dishes listed on the Mains side of the menu sounded stunning be we weren’t that hungry for a heavier meal. We all want to go back for dinner before leaving Split. 10/10 would recommend.

This was probably one of the best meals we had in Split. We made a reservation the day before by passing by the restaurant and just asking for one. The staff was very nice, food was delicious (particularly the appetizers), and the wine was great. The atmosphere was perfect!

We made a reservation the day before for a Saturday night and had then chance to have an availability. It was for a birthday diner. The restaurant is very well decorated, the design is well thought, and the food is exceptional. We ordered: - Gnocchi - Sea bass - Black risotto Best risotto I have ever eaten, it was simply delicious. The texture of the rice was perfect, a good quantity, I really really recommend it. My two friends tasted it and said it was the best dish out of the three The gnocchi are excellent, airy and with great amount of pistachio sauce. The sea bass was very delicious, fresh fish. The waiter surprised my friend with a birthday gesture, it was very cute. In all, a very good experience, I recommend.

Great night outside at Old Town! Delicious carpaccio as a starter followed by impressive sea bass and 2 fantastic glasses of wine suggested by a very nice waiter. Great location and vibrant atmosphere inside. Elegant and relaxed place to enjoy dinner. Vrlo dobro!

Great food and knowledgeable service recommended some nice glasses of wine to go with our meal. The food was very well done. We had the codfish spring roll, gazpacho soup, fried prosciutto and cheese balls, sea bass, lamb shank and rib-eye. No space left for dessert.

What a beautiful experience. Culinary speaking AND the absolute best service form Martin. Our glasses were never empty, and the food he recommended was perfect. We had the best evening, thanks to him. 100% recommended!!!

Solid experience. Service was efficient, drinks were good and menu had good choices. We got the fried shrimp arincini (see other name on menu) - good. The oxtail risotto (good) and lamb shank (good). The risotto had a slightly u underdeveloped tomato sauce. Either that or they used too much sugar which is a big no no for anyone who makes their own sauce.

Really loved the food here. Fantastic starters with beef Tartare and soups. The wine was decent and the staff was wonderful. The best part of the whole journey definitely was the Cut for Two people with a variety of different pieces of meat. Each more delicious than the other one. The portion was enormous. We came hungry and still sadly couldn't finish it. Maybe potential to improve here the amount/price of the dish. Otherwise definitely an expensive restaurant but fantastic products and dishes.

Very delicious food but the staff and service was super slow… we waited 15-20 minutes to order our food and waited 30 minutes to get a waiter to bring us the check so we could pay. They were super friendly once you got contact to one of the staff, but it was nearly impossible. But the food was really good!! We had the tuna steak and Beef tenderloin as it was prepared to perfection. We had a whiskey sour and an espresso martini. The martini was kinda watery and not very creamy (it had too much coffee in it) but the whiskey sour was super good.

Phenomenal food. Best steak I’ve ever had and I eat steak everywhere I go. Cocktails were also great. Service a touch slow (was a busy time) but staff were very friendly and worked hard to make sure you were happy. Would absolutely eat there again.

Everything about this place is exceptional! We arrived without a reservation and no table was available, but the hostesses at the reception (who are super friendly, well organized, customer-oriented and professional) put us on a waiting list and made sure that we still had a great time while we waited. So they sat us at the bar where we met the incredibly friendly and talented bartender, Alina. Alina prepared for us a delicious Daiquiri and the hands-down best Amaretto Sour I've ever had. I actually had to repeat because it was so good. I don't think I can ever drink an Amaretto Sour anywhere else, because I would always compare it to Alina's Amaretto Sour and it wouldn't even get close. :-) After a couple of minutes the hostess sat us at a free table and we ordered food. I have no words for the food, except that it was heaven! I ordered the tuna steak and potatoes with truffle sauce, pancetta and parsley. I get hungry again by just thinking about it. It was that good! And don't even get me started about the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream. It was just out of this world. Also our waiter, Antonio, was incredibly friendly, attentive and professional. So we loved everything about this place and will recommend it to everyone. Thank you for this amazing experience!

This was the most delicious meal, I had a glass of wine, a steak(with topping), a side dish and a bowl of handmade pasta. The steak was cooked perfectly and everything tasted amazing. The staff was so kind and sweet. I was traveling solo I didn't make a reservation I tried to get a table here and 1 other restaurant. The other wouldn't even wait list me for a table or even a seat at the bar. The host here took my info and put me on a wait list. I had a nice table right in the middle of the restaurant. The whole dinner was $66USD plus tip. At home the steak alone would have cost that alone.

This restaurant is an easy 10/10! Our waiter Milan was so top tier! He was patient, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, & clearly communicated his meal and drink recommendations based on the customer’s likes and dislikes. My friends and I came here to celebrate a friend’s birthday & we really enjoyed our time here. If we don’t return anytime soon, we are sure to recommend this restaurant along with Milan’s service to anyone we know traveling to Split!

What a beautiful evening meal, by far the best food tasted in Split after 4 nights here! Table service was timely and polite with one waitress "Ana" going the extra mile... when a small fly flew into my partners glass of red wine, we tried fishing it out and it was immediately replaced with insistence despite us successfully fishing out the critter. Great place to eat, ignore the price, you get what you pay for and more.... 5*

Very nice food good quality. I felt like service a bit over attentive, there were at least 15 waiting staff that I counted. Quite expensive but good quality.

Had breakfast there and tried the egg burger, veggie omelet and American pancakes. The food was very good and the prices were great for the quality of the food. However, we had to wait around 30’ to get our food, hence the 4 stars. The staff was very polite and helpful. Definitely recommend it for a nice breakfast in Split.

Probably among the best steaks we had in Croatia. Good location, very good service and excellent food. Not cheap but worth every Kuna and a clear recommendation. We had no reservation but they found a nice table, nevertheless I clearly recommend to reserve in advance in high season.

Absolutely wonderful service here, very nice place for dinner. A bit pricey but I already knew that prior to dining. Fantastic service. Amazing drinks some of the best I have had in a long time. The mojito and cosmopolitan were amazing. I orders the goat cheese tarts and the usda tenderloin. Exceptional.

We were there for a breakfast & dinner. Both excellent. We are veggie guys so this place is ideal for us. Meals are big enough, breakfast was enormous but delicious so we no problems to finish ;) shripms very fresh and crispy. Vegetables fresh and delicious. Very nice craft beers. We'll be back!

Great place and atmosphere. We had a three course meal, and everything was amazing. The tuna, the burger and the beef. And the pistachio cake was superb! We had the great service of Ivan who was fantastic - so nice, positive and gave us great recommendations 🌟 we will definitely come back!

There are burgers 🥱 and there are burgers 🤤🔥 I first came for breakfast and got delicious avocado toast, so on my last day for an early diner, I decided to get back there and ordered the burger. What a good idea! It was delicious, savory and generous. The potatoes were very good too. Awesome! And the waiter, Franko, who remembered me from the first day, was very professional and sympathetic.

I was walking by this place in people's square, saw they had vegan food and stopped for breakfast. The vegan club sandwich was really delicious and I loved the presentation. The service was great. Location is excellent! My partner had a veggie breakfast and he enjoyed it too

Amazing place for breakfast. In the center old town with great location and amazing tasty food. The service was great as well. We went there twice during our stay in Split and both the times we loved eating here. Berry shake was really amazing, the price is a bit on higher side but I would give that money for the quality of food. Definitely a must go place.

Awesome restaurant! We came here twice during our stay! Both times we were served by a charming, funny lad. Food was outstanding on both occasions. Great spot for brunch dishes and main courses. Berry white smoothie was lush.

This restaurant is located right by the palace, in one of the main squares with a great vibe! The food is delicious!! we ended up eating here a couple of times it was so good! We loved the shrimp Bao buns & the muscles pot, very flavorful!!

Konoba Marjan has been completely refurbished and has a great new look to complement the superb food that the restaurant has always served. It’s a fish-based menu and the locally sourced fish plate for two is a great way to sample it (see pic). We had this which was served with lovely grilled vegetables. There are some new dishes on the menu including a red mullet done 3 ways starter and a chocolate mousse with olive oil and black garlic-sounds weird but tastes amazing. Veggie and meat dishes are also available. The staff are always helpful and friendly.

Amazing shrimp pasta, wine below my expectations, fish of day really tasty with their garlic oil and some grilled vegetables, the blueberry tarts was surprising. I would recommend this place to anyone.

Came here to eat at the recommendation of our hotel host and had an excellent dinner. The pumpkin (carrot on the menu) and shrimp soup was delicious. Also got the fish plate for two and got to try several different kinds of fish. The seafood was so fresh and cooked perfectly. I usually don't like grilled vegetables, but I could eat many more bowls of theirs!

Bread was not toasted :( Octopus salad with crispy Parmesan bowl was brilliant, good to go with bread. Shrimp pasta tasted very good with homemade pasta, would like have a bigger portion tho with the price. Unfortunately the tuna steak was over cooked and under-seasoned, the presentation looked very sad already :( Didn’t feel very welcomed with the service, guests from another one table was talking SO LOUD. Not pleasant at all.

Fantastic food, great wine, it’s a shame that after so much hard work by the restaurant to deliver great service that when it can to pay it was not possible to split the bill. The waiter did create 2 different bills that got close, but as the last interaction with the restaurant it is a shame that it is a little awkward. The fish pate was the best I have ever had, and Sea Bass was really juicy and perfectly cooked. . Thanks very much to the waiter - he was excellent.

Got the pumpkin/squash shrimp soup and the fish plate for two (really three). Everything was super fresh and caught locally that day, perfectly seasoned and grilled with a nice char flavor. Service was attentive and helpful. Ambiance was great—we eat outside on the side of the street, taking in the city vibes and attracting a friendly cat or two.

The fish was absolutely delicious. If you are looking for a good place to eat and with a very good price we definitely recommend visiting this place. The service was brilliant as well. Thank you for this experience!

Delicious, fresh seafood grilled on charcoal = a fish umami party in your mouth. It’s just so hard to book a table at an ideal dinner time so they could only accommodate us early. We barely had an appetite at 18:00 yet we still loved the fish platter. Nice fresh salad to go with it. Good vibes from the staff. Highly recommend this tavern.

Honestly one of the best restaurants in town. The fish was very fresh and perfectly grilled. The staff was very friendly and attentive. They explain the whole menu and gave us suggestions. The wine on tap was very very good and locally source. The whole experience was amazing!

Amazing restaurant!!! The staff is sooo friendly and efficient. We had the sea bass which was cooked to perfection. The shrimp risotto was also out of this world. Special mention for the olive oil which is very fresh and tasty. Make sure to book in advance to be able to get a table. We had to wait but managed to get a table last minute.

Very good food. Had the fish soup as a starter. Its taste was very rich. As main dish I had a whole fish (don't know it's name since I am a savage) which tasted great and had great moist texture. I also tried the squid ink risotto from my friends which also (who would've thought) tasted awesome. We had an amazing dinner at Konoba Fetivi. The fish was really fresh and well done. The house wine and the olive oil were wonderful. The waitress was super helpful and funny. She opened and cleaned the fish for us. We highly recommend this restaurant, we will surely come back.

Generous portions and a memorably delicious meal! Despite not having a reservation, they accommodated our party of 3. The food takes a little while to arrive, but it is so worth it - bring your appetite because you won't be disappointed. The garlic shrimps are especially good when mopped up with the homemade bread!

We learned about this place because of a recommendation from a friend. We went there in the evening without a reservation .. didn't realize it was completely reserved.. Lucky for us someone didn't show up for their reservation 😅 The staff first brings you a tray of fresh fish and sea food to select your meal from. We selected mussels and grilled vegetables for starters and grilled Scorpion fish for main course with some home made white wine. It was amazing! The staff is really friendly and the ambience is so cozy ... We had an amazing experience.

WOW. Get a reservation because they get booked out fast, but the food is worth it. The fish and cuttlefish risotto are a must try. Their fish is so fresh and beautifully grilled, portions are large and the price is super reasonable. Our waiter is wonderful and the service is excellent, don’t miss this gem!

Amazing quality of fish and seafood. Decent tap/table wine. Fish plate for two based on daily catch is must have if you're there. Friendly staff with a family feel. Keep in mind it's really hard to get there without prior reservation so I'd recommend to call them and make one at least one day before. You can pay by card. Highly recommended if you're in Split!

Lovely restaurant with a nice patio. We were there around 2pm end of March so it was fairly empty. We had a fish platter for two and the chard/potato side side. Both were simple but perfect! The waitress was friendly, informative and helpful! Having a meal there is strongly recommended. Loved that they could open the roof and you have the feeling to be sitting outside. We were lucky that the sun was out. Oh, nearly forgot, the desert is tasty, I don’t remember the name in Croatian but it is similar to a flan in Spain One thing that was disturbing was the music, in the kitchen/front area was different to the one on the seating area.
