Alert ⚠️ slippery floors and streets. Can not emphasize enough how careful you need to be when walking through the whole city. Marble paving and rocks throughout the whole city. It was an amazing experience I did not expect. Learning the local stories of this place and relearning what you are taught in school.

It was a nice experience. Something unique, beautiful place. You can feel the history. It was a bit hot, 40 degrees Celsius, but it was worth it. Museum pass awards discount in inside shops for coffee, water, juices etc.

I have to say this place was incredible. Way bigger than I thought with so much to see and was magical walking through this historic site. Definitely recommend to go check it out, but try to get there before the bus rush so you can have the place more to yourself and more quiet.

This place is beautiful, well worth seeing. If you don’t get a tour guide I definitely recommend at least reading and watching a few YouTube videos about it beforehand just to be able to appreciate the significance of the theatre and the ancient city of Efes. I wasn’t impressed by the 70₺ audio guide. 120₺ entrance (April 2022) you can also enter with a museum card (70₺) if you are a resident or citizen of Turkey.

A place good to know the ancient history and make good photos. Need to wear good sneakers and a hat or cap as well as glasses to prevent the sunshine. Good for walking. Outside the museum got some shops and a market place to eat.

One of the largest archaeological sites in the world. A marvelous feat of architecture as it is situated in the best possible location for the best acoustic function. Don't forget....those times no digital technology was in operation....only mathematical thinking 🤔 well worth a visit 🙂

Must-see attraction when in the area! It exceeded my expectations. It would have been nice to visit with a guide but you can also ask for a free audio guide when buying tickets. It does get hot here but there are places to buy drinks and snacks on either end and also one place in the middle by the library. There are trees and spots throughout that help provide shade when touring. It is best to go early or late in the day. The only thing we wish they had was an evening hour in the summer where you could be there for golden hour.

A nice ancient attraction to be included during your trip. You will spend there 3-5 hours all around, with entrance fee free for students but normal guests 200tl.

One of the best historical sites you should see in Turkey. 🎭 This ancient theater has been preserved and maintained very well. It has a breathtaking view up facing the ancient ruins and beautiful forest 🌳 If you have a museum card which allows you to enter pretty much all museums in Turkey, you’ll be able to skip the long queue and yet will pay less.

Really cool to come and see in person!! It’s really big with so many steps. I think they put performances on there to. Great for taking photos. There are so many steps but be careful when walking around cause it’s really slippery. Overall really cool place to look at!

Is a mix roman-greek theatre. The whole ancient city is amazing. And a special guide like Ezra made it even more spectacular. Ephesus took the best from Rome and Petra and gave the traveller a complete and wonderful experience. Beautiful, historic, you can feel the ambient of an ancient city. Advice: dont go there during summer as is can be very hot! If you still go, be prepared with parasol, light white long sleeve shirt and a lot of water...

Worthwhile place if you're a genuine believer, if not, it might feel like a grand hoax (read the history of founding up the place). However, if you're around, and ready to pay the 80 liras entrance (Jan2022) fee, the visit might be nice bonus for visiting the beautiful Ephesus area. The views along the streaming road upwards are precious.

This is a quick stop that guides take you to right before visiting the ancient city of Ephesus. Particularly for Catholics it's a very sacred place, as it is thought that the virgin Mary spent her last days in this house. No photos are allowed inside of the house. After walking through the house and paying respects, you can light up candles for prayers. There are also 3 fountains in a brick wall beside the path - there is a local legend that if you drink from all three and make a wish Mary will help make it come true. You can tie your wish to this wall at the end. As you leave there are many souvenir shops on route for religious trinkets and ornaments.

The house of Virgin Mary is a must see when visiting Turkey. It was really neat to see it and drink the holy water and write wishes on the wall. It was a quick stop up the mountain with our tour guide before we headed to the Ephesus. You can’t take photos inside the house. There was free bathrooms and souvenirs and places to eat. Overall really cool must come visit!

Beautiful spot in the middle of nature it has a little fountain and the shrine is renovated. But it is nothing special especially for all the way you have to drive up the mountain. I wouldn’t recommend this place, mainly because it’s too much hassle to get there.

The house was discovered in the 19th century by following the descriptions in the reported visions of Blessed Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774–1824), a Roman Catholic nun and visionary, which were published as a book by Clemens Brentano after her death. While the Catholic Church has never pronounced in favour or against the authenticity of the house, the site has nevertheless received a steady flow of pilgrimage since its discovery. Anne Catherine Emmerich was beatified by Pope John Paul II on October 3, 2004. Catholic pilgrims visit the house based on the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken to this stone house by Saint John and lived there for the remainder of her earthly life. The shrine has merited several papal Apostolic Blessings and visits from several popes including Paul VI, John Paul II, and Benedict XVI.

Very beautiful and tranquil place. Best month to visit is May. Pictures inside the house are not allowed. You will need around 1/2 to 1 hour max to see this place. You will need some paper and a pen if you want to put your wishes on the wishing wall.

This is a beautifully well preserved ancient Roman library, was the third largest of its kind and a must see in person! It's the most iconic building within the ancient city of Ephesus - and by far one of the most well known ruins in Turkey. The architecture is simply beyond exquisite and this was definitely my favourite ancient structure that I saw during my tour of Anatolia. There's lots of information posted inside the library, but it's even better to go in with a guide who will point out the key facts and better showcase some of the more interesting things to pay attention to.

Mesmerizing, amazing and wonderful site. A most to see in Turkey. You will need to have a professional guide to explain meticulously the historical background of each monument and place. It is highly recommended to go either in early spring or in fall. Don’t forget to wear long sleeve’s shirt and be equipped with a large hat. Having water with you is a most.

It is a building like a landmark of Ephesus. The grand library entrance seemed to signify the importance of books and learning. I highly recommend listening to the audio guide. explain in detail. There are guided tours, but I think the audio guide is better. There is no shade and the sun is strong, so be careful if you go in summer.

Amazing! That’s the only word suits it. The ancient Greece to Roman cultures and Gods can be seen so close, we can feel it so strong. This ancient city is made from marbles which make it white and very very pretty. It is the best spot in Turkey in my opinion and I believe you will agree with me after being there yourself. The main building is the ruins of the ancient library called Celsus, but the surroundings are not less interesting too. It has alleys, theater, ancient rest room, roads, carvings, etc. Once again, amazing!

Plenty of things to see. The walk is around 2 kilometers and takes around 1.5 - 2 hours to complete. The library and the amphitheater are the highlights of Ephesus and are absolutely stunning. Tickets are 400 lira to enter and totally worth it. 100% recommend to go and visit this place if you’re in the area.

Unbelievable place to visit. While you walk on the ways, you feel you really live in this place. It is like a time travel. Even though some stones and areas are damaged, you can still see, guess what was that. My suggestion to everyone to give a day to visit this place because it is pretty big and if you like historical places, you can catch more detail if you walk around slowly. This place has great history and it is very well preserved. The only concern was the walkway needs to be more senior friendly as it is very slippery for them. There is a need to improve on that. But other than that, the history is very rich and very educating for your children. Highly recommended that you come here when you are in Turkey.

A place full of history, if you go by yourself don't forget to read about it, otherwise I would recommend to hire a guide. 😊 Better to come in the afternoon, around 4pm, it's not so crowded and you can take better pictures. It's not every day that you get to see an active archaeological sight up close like this. It's a place I would love to come back and visit again in 10 years to see the progress and what else they have discovered. We did it with a guide, which added much value and context to what we were looking at, so I would recommend that—also, the earliest you can arrive, the better. A must see on your trip to Turkey. We took a tour through our cruise line - much worth it. About 2 hours. September weather was mid 90s and not much shade. Marble paths are very slippery, stay to the right, you'll find rock to walk on rather than the marble. Get a tour guide or you'll walk past many hidden secrets. Average taste, but quality of the food is very good. It is a great place to seat down and grab bite to eat after museum visit. I would recommend to eat there.

Quite average food when we had it, even though it seems like a highly recommended joint based on other reviews. It's definitely affordable, though I wouldn't say it's fantastic. Come for the authentic atmosphere. Language was an issue, though there is English menu available. There's also an Australian accented English speaking rug and souvenir seller next door that seems quite happy to help or just have a chat!

This is a nice, local place with excellent food! Delicious Türk kahve (Turkish coffee), stuffed eggplant, lamb shish kebap, and authentic pita bread, which was a nice treat. Prices are reasonable too, and it's really close to the Ephesus Museum, which is also worth a trip.

The freshly squeezed orange juice is a must, and then we ordered a number of different things from the menu. The kebaps were good but needed a bit more sauce or flavor (perhaps we should have ordered one). Fun to watch the turkish pancake get made. The owner, Alibaba, is very friendly and talks about the various businesses underway.

Ali Baba is such a great place to eat. We met the owner, Ali Baba, and he was incredibly kind and genuine. The food was much better than I expected, fresh from the kitchen. We ordered the mixed appetizer and the Adana kebab, and it was all delicious. Highly recommend.

Had a mixed meat combo. The rice is very tasty, fries ok, beef patties, chili beef patties, chicken. The 2 beef was nicely done n juicy. Freshly squuezed Orange juice is sweet too. Overall, good meal. 160 + 30 lira in total.

The food is unreal…all the vegetarian style dishes are cooked by the wife whilst everything else is cooked over BBQ fuel by the husband served by the grandchildren….a real family affair. I was hesitant to go here after reading a lot online which gave me heavy "is this a tourist spot" vibes but was pleasantly surprised! The dips and bread were great, we had the spicy tomato and the haydari. For a main I had the lamb beyti, which was nothing short of spectacular. A meal of a plate with a little side of everything you could need along with 5 large pieces of lamb that were both tender and flavourful. Definitely worth a visit, if for that alone.

A wonderful host and amazing fresh chicken shisha, with a very generous portion. The chicken was so tender and moist, full of flavour. A tasty salad, rice and fries. The best I have had, not only in Turkey but ever.

Chanced upon this family restaurant on Google maps while staying in that area. It was so good that we went back for second time on our last night there. I think we tried about 10 mains and 10 sides over two nights just for two people. Value for money food and delicious food, great hospitality by Mr Ejder and wonderful peaceful vibes, would definitely visit again the next time I’m around the area.

Excellent local restaurants with delicious food and reasonable prices. The place is owned by a very friendly family who made us feel very welcomed. We ordered brick oven grilled fish and spicy meat balls with a side of stuffed peppers. The dinner was excellent, juicy and tasteful which made our evening after a long hot day.

One of the tastiest and healthiest meals we have had in a while. We ordered several of the small plates of stuffed peppers, stuffed aubergine, grilled aubergine and stuffed aubergine. it was a great [vegetarian] meal in itself. We also ordered the chicken wings that were perfectly grilled on skewers. Flavorfully charred on the outside, very moist inside. Menu was easy to understand for non Turkish speakers and the owners were friendly and welcoming. Location was convenient to station and its pleasant seating area has a nice view of the storks nesting on top of columns of what, I think, are the old aquaducts. The area of Izmir that we are staying in is mostly doner based menus, so this felt like a nice treat for us.

We found Ejder on Google as we were looking for a nice place for dinner before taking the train back to Izmir. The owner and his family were lovely and brought us delicious food. He knew we had to catch a train so the service was prompt without compromising quality. It was delicious! Wonderful backdrop of the castle, fountain and arches as well.

We ordered Lahmacun, Mushroom, Aubergine Kebab, Lamb Cutlet, and soup. All of them were yummy and with good prices. Lahmacun was flavorful with a nice and chewy texture! Owners are kind and friendly. Highly recommended🙌

The man who served us who we think could be the owner was super friendly and recommended some popular items. We went for the meat pide (picture on the top of the menu) and the meatballs and loved every bit of it. Finished with an apple tea which was warm and sweet! Definitely recommend ! The two items cost 50 TL each which meant our whole dinner cost a fiver..! 🤯 Edit. Having travelled around Turkey a little bit more now I had to deduct a star PURELY because the salad that was served was underwhelming and seemingly not too fresh but my review for the main dishes still stand, very tasty nonetheless

Very good pide. Star pide chef running the oven. Light, proper crust. Peppers and meat tasted fresh. I recommend the mixed one with 3 flavours. Service is fast and everyone was friendly. Fair restaurant at a fair price and the other good reviews showcase that. To top it off, they gave me some orange tea on the house as I kept seated reading. Proper customer treatment!

A surprisingly good and friendly family run Pide restaurant serving freshly made Turkish Pide (think pocket pizza). Everyone on the staff is extremely friendly and make sure to make you feel welcomed. Food comes out really quickly, right off of the oven and is surprisingly light for what it presents itself as. BEST PIDE EVER!!! Truly the best pide I have eaten in Turkey. A must try in Selcuk. The place looks very local and basic but you have a great view of how they make the pides. The hospitality of the place is amazing, our server was very kind and gave us free salads each. The food quality is soo good and the prices are great.

We ordered the special meat and cheese pide (50TL) and lahmacun (20TL) which were delicious and they also gave a complimentary salad and a hot fruit tea at the end which was a nice surprise. We were looking for a local food restaurant which offered dishes, rather than the usual kebabs and meat plates. The restaurant is in an interesting location! Far off the track and away from town. Chose a few dishes and they warmed them up too. Food was really good. Glad to have stuck with the decision to try this then to eat in town. Cost 155TL.
