A nice old clock tower with a cheap museum to walk through, very informative of the history of Sapporo and of the actual mechanization that keeps the clock ticking 140 years later. A tour guide that spoke English stopped and helped explain exhibits as we walked at our own pace with him. Great experience.

In spite of the larger, more modern buildings that surround it, the Sapporo Clock Tower remains an iconic location worth visiting on any trip to Sapporo. The first time I visited, it was in May of 2018 and too late in the day to go inside. The second time I visited was in the winter of 2019, and I was able to see the interior. The Tower houses many displays and artifacts detailing the history of Sapporo, doubling in a way as a history museum. I remember only spending maybe a half hour inside browsing before moving on to other sites to visit. I do not remember if there was a fee to enter, but if there was it could not have been more than 500 yen.

Before visiting the clock tower, It is recommended to visit the beer museum. Nice place to visit especially if you are in the area, not expensive either. There is an accessible elevator to the upper floor.

Well…. Honestly it’s not so bad It’s one of three disappointing places in Japan but if you are interested in it, you should visit Just one thing:this building and the surrounding is kinda mismatched …..

It’s one of the oldest building in Sapporo during the Hokkaido frontier (1860’s). People say it is anticlimactic but it is a interesting building if you get in and learn the history of Hokkaido. During the frontier, a lot of western scientists and engineers are invited to accelerate the development and you will feel something similar to American western frontier.

Must visit if you at Sapporo. No entrance fee to hang around at clock tower area. It is so beautiful during winter. Located at city center, easy to reach by using train, bus or walking if you stay at city center

So glad we took the time to visit this place. We learned so much about the history of Hokkaido from a volunteer tour person at the museum. I had no idea the history that they had with Americans who came there to help them learn agriculture. The clock that was brought there by ship from America is a MOST see and hear all about how it was designed and works. It was fascinating!!

I came here to find that the building was under renovation. It was still open to visitors, though. And there was no entrance fee.

This is really a beautiful location, the building looks awesome and had great view for Photography. It has catchy red colour and the snow gives the added advantage for taking Photos. This location is just for viewing there may not be entry I think, thank you for reading!

Unfortunately closed due to being a huge construction side for a couple of month according to the sign outside the entrance. Yet the city which owns the building is not able to adjust the opening times properly. I think one can do better especially in Japan.

The old Hokkaido Government building and its nice park is a surprise in the middle of the very tight build city center of Sapporo. A great place for a break on a city tour to relax and find some nice views under the Ginko trees.

Great place to hang out , unfortunately it is under renovation when I visited on July 2022 so I could see inside the building and learn about the history but I truly enjoyed the garden and is open up to 9 pm .

Great views of the city from any season and anytime during the day or evening. The cost is ¥1,000 per adult - purchase the tickets on the 3rd floor. You’ll take a 2nd elevator to the observation deck.

Unfortunately, very cloudy during my visit, so I was not able to see the surrounding mountains and scenery. In the end of the day, this is like any cities, observation, tower and kind of reminds me of Seattle. What I enjoyed was seeing all the Japanese families visiting. They really love their country and they go to all the tourist attractions taking pictures.. it’s def a quick 20-30 min and not expensive.

Having traveled around Japan a fair bit and making it a point to go up the towers whenever we have a chance, this one was nothing super special. It was an older style elevator, gift shop and area. The top of the tower was pretty cool and had great views of Sapporo (that's what you should expect from a Japan tower!). Nothing disappointing, but nothing super special about this one. Our rainy June day provided for only mediocre views. The restaurants in the lobby/underground area were busy the day we came, but outside of randomly picking a noodle shop, there was a great sushi place we were very satisfied to visit. Make sure you check the coin machines, at the time of our visit in June 2023, they had a Stitch version, which was my unique favorite.

意外と、大人もこどもも楽しめる。 I think both adults and children can enjoy the view from the top of this tower. The height is about 140m, some people can run up to the top in 2 min by their steps. I like the old-fashioned see-through elevators (lifts) . It’s quite rare. There is also a plaza on the 3rd floor where you can see the history of the sapporo TV tower and its unique characters.

Not only it’s a historic place but also the best place to take a great shot of the Odori park from the top. I didn’t go to the top observation deck ( paid ticket needed) but it’s still a good view from the 3rd floor. Must visited place in Sapporo.

Ticket cost 1,000yen and the elevator will bring you up to the observation deck which is 90m high. View is good.

Great place to visit while in Sapporo. We were quite lucky to witness the sunset yesterday while the tower is not crowded. If you’re planning to take the stairs to 3F for the ticketing counter, be prepared to go to the flight of stairs from 1F to 2F 😆

Best way to catch sunset over Sapporo! Excellent views all around. Winters are special in this city I’d say drop by if you wanna fill the gap between touring Sapporo Beer Museum and exploring backstreet alleys of Sapporo for dinner

Good place to get a wonderful view of Sapporo, and especially of Odori park. Entry is only ¥1000, which is pretty reasonable, and there was no line when I went on a weekday during the Snow Festival. It gets cramped, especially around sunset. The gift shop located here doesn't help. Surely the one at the bottom of the elevator is sufficient?

I arrived within an hour of the tower opening. There was no line for tickets or the lift to the top of the tower. It never got crowded or congested at the top as well. Lots of great views and plenty of souvenir shopping to be had at the tower. Definitely worth a visit!

The best place to get 360 degree, unblocked view of Sapporo. 1,000yen to get up there. Right off Odori train station (exit 27). Be sure to check the sunset timing and catch the sunset from the tower. You will also get to take photos of the city in both daylight and night. The Odori Park lights up beautifully at night.

Nice place to enjoy the scenery of Sapporo while looking for some omiyage. They have pretty wide variation of Hokkaido specialty snacks and souvenirs. The ticket price is 1000yen.

Good for chocolate lovers and to buy a souvenir 😍 outside was all covered in snow so couldn't see decoration in the garden. Due to heavy snowfall couldn't reach in time to see there show.

The paid portion of the place was quick to go through and there wasn't much to see in my opinion. Cute to take photos in in some places. The best use of the ticket is to have access to the chocolate lounge (cafe) near the end of the paid access. Most of the outside portions and souvenir shops are free to visit. So if you do not want to go to the cafe or see the factory floor, it may not be worth it to get a ticket.

Beautiful theme park! There are many nice sceneries, with cute mascots explaining the process of making the biscuits. Do go earlier to reserve a timeslot for the chocolate tasting session. It is on a first come first serve basis. If you are dining in their restaurant, you will get discounted parking (3 hours for 300yen, instead of 3 hours for 900yen).

Any search for "things to do in Sapporo" or the like and this place will pull up in a flash. Visiting from the U.S. and as a first timer to Hokkaido, it seemed like a no brainer to visit a "Chocolate Factory", right? Unfortunately this place turned out to be a bit disappointing for us. It's not only a major trek from the city center (about 30 minutes using public transportation), but it was also very crowded, even on a rainy weekday and seemed to mostly be in existence for Western style photo opportunities. The "factory" part itself was not operational on our visit and the "decorate your own" experiences were sold out and a little overpriced. I had actually bought one class in advance for 3 hours after our arrival (which was at opening), but we couldn't convince ourselves to stick around long enough to actually partake in it! Unless you want to shop for Omiyage exclusive to this place and/or wait for sitting and eat in the (in my opinion) overpriced cafe's, it doesn't take but an hour to go through and see what they have to offer here. The atmosphere of the architecture and the cat mascots were cute, but I just cannot find myself recommending this place. This is especially true if you are visiting from a western country. Nothing horrible or bad about this place, I just found it to be a bit of a waste of time and money honestly.

Once upon a time on a snowy day, a man looked up to the sky and saw the gentle snowfall which he imagined as white lovers descending from heaven. And he realized his dream by setting up the chocolate factory which produces the famous "Shiroi Koibito" biscuits. It's now expanded into a kitty themed magical park for the visitors to enjoy watching the production and indulge in some of the luxurious sweet treats. Shiroi Koibito Park must be on the top of the bucket list for people with a sweet tooth ❣️

The snow was very heavy when we arrived. All the garden was covered. But inside you can get the new year feeling with very beautiful decoration. The cookies is what we always have so we try the ice cream. It is very recommend you must eat the ice cream both the milk and chocolate. It’s totally different from others I’ve cream both flavor and aroma. They have bakery shop at downstairs as well. Everything so good. The coffee latte also very smooth and nice.

One of the oldest shopping streets in Hokkaido features new and old shops. It is a long shopping street in Sapporo with approximately 200 shops. Tanukikoji shopping street is a popular tourist spot and a great place to shop for souvenirs. The street is not too crowded so the overall shopping experience was pleasant.

I went during summer festival so it was very busy. There were some live performances too. Tables were set up for people to drink beer and eat some snacks. Also, at the end of the streets, there's beer garden. This shopping street has all you need (restaurants, cafe, beauty shops, pet shops, shoes, ...etc)

Tanukikoji is a famous shopping street in Sapporo. We have walked past from street 1 to street 7 because i did not do it the last time we visited in 2017. Here goes nothing: there is a total of 7 shopping street, I like the most from Street 4-5, because there is a Mega shopping Don Quijote mall or known as Dondondonki from Singapore at street 4. The qualities of the shops varies but good shops exist around street 4-5. You must visit here if you are at Sapporo. Street 7 is most run down, but none the less go and take a look if you have time, just to satisfy your exploration mood. Please have it : the images I have taken for street1, street 2, 4, and 7 during late night.

long stretch of road with plenty of stores (literally endless). you can get almost anything here from food to clothes to even household items. however, the stores can get pretty redundant (like the same store in chome 4&5). i wish they provided more benches to sit

There are many drug store there that sell variety of items. Restaurants and arcade also opens till late. It's roughly a 10mins walk to finish walking from one end to the other. A nice place to come when you are in the area at 5pm.

Many hotels, shops, drug store, convenience stores, and reataurant are here at Tanukikoji Shoppjng Street. Even it snows, you can go shopping here due to there are roofs along this shopping street.

An extremely large shopping district spanning a few hundred meters on a straight line. Lots of restaurants and souvenir shops to explore. There are a bunch of thrift stores too. Came here at spring, but I’m sure the vibe would be even more amazing by winter when lights would engulf the place

Worth to visit if it's your first time :) Will recommend you just walk section 4 to 6. There's a mega Don Don donki store right outside section 4 which you can shop at. Lots of cosmetic shop to buy tax free items. There's a big gachapong store too!

When in Sapporo, I definitely recommend the free tour as a gaijin. The premium tour is spoken only in Japanese and with a charge. It’s a rather informative museum and tour which didn’t take long to complete. At the end you can choose to sample the been placing an order through a machine. We sampled the complete set which included the original, classic and premium beer. The “Classic” was our favorite by far. They also provided some crunchy snacks with the set. We went during midday and weekday time - hardly anyone was in the museum, it was great! But I’m sure this place can be busy. A parking lot is available with a fee - we paid only ¥300 for about 1-2 hours.

It was not the usu museum that you would expect since it has only a few exhibits presented. However, it showcases the history of how beer was made and evolved until today. I like the part where you can buy a set of beer flavors right after your tour in the museum.

This is the place you definitely have to visit for dinner, either outside or inside. But indies is much better. BBQ and beer, noisy and smell, the place mixes all these together and gives you a happy feeling. Meat, veggies, famous local beer and happy people here. This is the best place for dinner and Sapporo in hot summer’s night. Walk back to hotel with moonlight in summer and beer. What a wonderful life!

Best place to visit if you wish to try the Genghis khan dish. We opted for the all-you-can-eat set and it was totally worth it. The staff didn’t speak English but they have an English menu on the tablet so placing an order was quite easy.

It’s a well thought out design to allow appreciation of its history before reaching the sampling station. The sampler beer is a good pick to try all different types of beer offered. It comes with a cheese cube which taste really well with the beer. There is also a packet of cracker nuts to go with. Choose between standing table or seating with table. There is also a non alcoholic drink for the underage. Very tasty!

Best meal since I came to Japan! I'm a Carnivore so all you can eat Ghengis Khan BBQ, lamb, mutton, beef rib & sirloin with limited veggies and all you can drink beer for a very reasonable price. Ridiculous, and a great historic venue!

First time trying the Genghis Khan bbq style; the mutton is very nice. Unlimited fill-meat and Free-flow beer at an affordable price. They close at 10 pm. Even though it's summer, it is still cold during the summer. They serve pork.

Yakiniku and beer buffet near sapporo beer meseum itself. The buffet included sheep and various kinds of beer. We had a fun time here. Drinking and eating with friends. They are crowned especially winter so make sure you book the dinner beforehand

Had a great tour of the brewery. A great sampler of 3 different Sapporo brews(you can select the 3 from a larger selection). After the tour went to the beer garden and had the genghis khan all you can eat lamb and vegetables. The setting was very beerhall but lots of smoke/steam from all the hot plates.

I have to be honest, the food was excellent and service very nice, but to hard for me to eat... I guess I'm more used to curry being thick and pouring it over rice or with n as n for Indian curry. The flavors were full and incredibly aromatic! Chicken and vegetables were fresh and crispy! Make sure you're wanting soup, because this is quite different from regular curry. Name says it all, but was just not thinking! Oh, usually there's a line so give yourself time for the wait. I hate waiting, so got lucky with a 5 minute wait, but it was already 3pm.

Need to wait for about one hour or longer in a weekday. But they offer a way to allow you check your status online so you don’t have to stand in line physically. Food is not good. The lamb I ordered is so tough to eat.

We love the soup curry. The taste is amazing and the vegetables are crisp and juicy. The chicken is nice and tender too. We finished all the soup. We came around 6.30pm and there is already a queue. It is worth the wait. Restaurant accept cash, PayPay and Line Pay only.

I waited for 1 hour, but it’s worthy!! You know I never treat restaurants like this== just too good, highly recommended for those who wanna try soup curry.

Stopped here for lunch one day during our trip in Sapporo. It was our first time hearing about soup curry, and we thought this would be a good spot to try it. The food was sooo delicious! Tried the famous suage+. It's was pretty good. The bowl is full of a very generous amount of food. The chicken is a full sized chicken leg and thigh fried to crispy perfection. The lamb is also very good, it is so smokey that it makes the soup smokey. I would recommend these two and the potato 🥔 croquet for dessert. I had the lamb soup curry and would recommend over the chicken soup curry as the lamb curry seemed to have more meat. I found it convenient to have the skewers stick. Definitely will come again when I visit Sapporo

A visit to Suage was a nice addition to our itinerary in Hokkaido. The soup, vegetables, mushroom, and meat - practically everything in the bowl - gave a sense that Suage valued preparing the food carefully. I ordered the パリパリ知床鶏のカレー (crispy Shiretoko chicken curry) and I personally liked the big slice of pumpkin and the tasty grilled chicken in skewers. The latter though left me wanting more because of the small serving size. The highlight of the meal, and rightly so, was the curry soup. It may be my imagination but it had a hint of tamarind. As I slurped the soup, an image of Thailand’s tom yum goong and the Philippines’ sinigang flashed into my mind. Regarding the soup’s hot and spicy level, I chose 辛口, thinking it would be really hot based on the illustration in the menu. I should have chosen the maximum level because as it turned out the taste guide was still based on Japanese palate standards.

SO DELICIOUS! We got the crispy chicken and the braised pork belly with extra broccoli, okra, baby corn and rice with cheese. Spice level 3 was pretty mild for us, but we enjoy spicy food. The broccoli was a standout topping for us!! This soup is so delicious on a cold day, and all the veggies are cooked to perfection. It was hearty and filling but didn’t leave our tummies feeling too heavy. There was small line going up the stairs when we arrived, but we were seated within 10 mins or so.

We came at 5:30 pm and queued for 30 minutes. I had the mildest version of the curry soup and loved it. I ordered the red plum wine with soda but regretted it. It's more like a raspberry cordial. Otherwise, the curry soup is delicious.

The curry was delicious and topped with different veggies or meat. It is possible to choose the level of spiciness The portion sizes were perfect, leaving me completely satisfied after the meal. Overall, one of the best meals we had during our stay in Japan.

Honestly a MUST try if you’re in Sapporo or Hokkaido. The vegetable and soup combo is both delicious and hearty at the same time. I went twice during my stay in Sapporo because it was just that good. You might need to line up, as it’s popular. I never had to wait more than 15 minutes though. In peak season it might be best to plan ahead.

Finally got to try the Hokkaido Soup Curry. There was a short queue when we arrived for an early dinner at 5+ pm. Atmosphere of the restaurant was cosy. We tried the simmered chicken and braised pork soup curry versions. They were tasty, well-cooked and tender. The soup curry tasted like soupy version of the Japanese curry with an extra dose of Indian curry spices!

Wanting to find a local ramen shop in Sapporo and found this. Waited a while in cold weather so glad to have a warm ramen when our turn arrived. It’s good but won’t make a trip just for this.

Everything (food, price, location) here is SUPERB! The best Ramen i have ever tasted. The only not so nice is thw waiting line as queue could always get longer than expected. Customers really visit the place, regardless of the season and time. MUST TRY AND REVISIT if you’re is Sapporo (near Susukino).

This place was highly recommended on Google and I wasn’t disappointed. It gets pretty busy around lunch time but even with 10 people ahead of us in line we (a party of 3) we’re seated in less than 10 minutes. Largest chirashi slices I’ve ever had and the broth was nice but not overpowering.

I ordered char siu noodles in Shinshu with dark miso. The noodles were thick and curly noodles, and they were delicious. Even though it's Sunday, the line is a little too long. I went about 20 minutes before the opening, but I turned around and went to the entrance. It was raining, but the queue didn't break T^T

We decided to have a late dinner around 10pm and had to wait in line for approximately 15-20 minutes. It was a great ramen place with delicious broth that had a rich umami flavor. We noticed many locals dining there as well, which is always a good sign. It was even more enjoyable to savor this hearty dish on a cold winter night.

Have English menu. I ordered the spicy miso with pork slices. I went around 11:30 PM early summer but the shop was still packed.Only had to wait only for a minute. The Ramen noodles was bouncy and nice. But I care more about the broth and the rich umami flavor with spiciness made the broth really really good. Costed just 800 yen, cheap 👏🏻

A waiting line starts to form at 10am. There's 13 seats inside. Service & atmosphere was average - with waiting customers seated behind you (which is a bit uncomfortable as they are staring into your back while you eat). It would be much nicer if it was just more eating customers. The waitress wasn't the most friendly/helpful. It would have been nicer for her to hear our request for an English menu instead of an abrupt 'chotto matte' while she goes to another customer to take their order first. There's only a Japanese menu on the table so we had to wait for her to come around for our order to then request for the English menu. Ramen is a mild, sweet tasting Hokkaido miso ramen . Servings are large. Worth a try if you are prepared to wait in the cold for a popular ramen. Be prepared by dressing up warmly especially if it's snowing and the temperature is low. Since it was -6 degrees, my husband and I took turns to take our 3yo daughter inside the nearby Lawson to keep her warm and to use the toilet there while waiting.

The best miso ramen i ever taste. The noodle itself very good and cook very well. The soup make me finish it all. Fast serve, also have english menu. Fried rice also good but salty. Must visit here when go to sapporo

The experience was bad!! I hope the shop can do better than this. A few days ago, I went their for their famous bbq. I heard the shop was famous for their bbq meat. So me and my family went and waited in line for about 2hours under heavy snow, but ended up for nothing. The employees told me to get to their other branch which is close by, then my sister ask if we go there will we able to get in first? But the employee said to wait another hours. I understand that the shops are famous but their no way to treat their customer this way. The lady on the other hand doesn’t speak very nicely At the end we decide to eat at the other place which is no line to wait on and worth every cents

We waited for more than two hours to get in. They have only 12 seats so please consider this when you need to make decision on if you want to wait in the waiting line. Once we get in, we found we would have to cook by ourselves. They only offered to rare lamb. So how good the food is really depends on how good your bbq skills you have. When waiting outside in the line, there’s no chair or anything to sit. You have to stand on the street for the whole waiting period. Not a pleasure experience.

This place was recommended by our hotel reception as all the other genghis khan places we originally wanted to visit were fully booked. This place has gotten so popular that they’ve opened several other outlets within walking distances of each other. The other outlets are open later. Given their close proximity, have a walk around to see which has a shorter queue. We moved from the outlet 5.5 to the main shop because of a shorter queue. Be prepared to smell like bbq after this, there were no lockers to keep your things so everything will smell like smoke. They’ve kindly provided some fabric spray at the exit should you wish to use it. This place seems popular amongst the locals and local tourists alike. There is always a queue but everything was handled efficiently. The menu has some simple English. We order one of each different meat types they offered. They distinguished the cuts using different plates, so should you wish to order more of something, just point to the plate then gesture how many. Initially the server started off cooking the meat for us - as we were clueless tourists and weren’t sure what to do. After which we just followed what every one else was doing. The food was good. The place is small, but you’re served promptly so everything moves fast. Cash only payment.

This was our best meal in Sapporo! The lamb was so fresh there was no strong smell that lamb or mutton usually have. We had 3 portions of Genghis Khan lamb, and 1 portion each of the filet and the special cut, a serving of kimchi and bowls of rice each. It was just nice for two average eaters and one small eater, and the bill came up to 7500¥ (with two beers and the accompanying chargeable sides). The only things we could complain about is coming out smelling of BBQ and maybe that it was a very oily meal. We arrived at 530 and it was full and there was already a queue! Thankfully the queue was relatively short and we could wait inside, on the waiting seats, and got our seats in half an hour.

The waiting line was crazy. We came 20 minutes before it opened and there were already 11 people in front of us. It’s a small store and at most two persons could share a grill. Their default includes onion and and green onion which it cooks perfectly with the fat and juice from the meat. The filet was so tender and you would not know that you are eating mutton if nobody told you. There is no grassy gamy taste in the meat at all! The atmosphere is awesome. There’s just no better combo than BBQ with Sapporo beer. Best BBQ in Sapporo!!

2018.11 cool khan bbq. Charcoal type, and is a bbq bar like sushi bar , hot inside. This is bigger one and is a branch few block away from the main store. Bit expensive but really good, beef is tender only 6 little cube dice size. And goat is good too. They hv locker for your stuff ... so you smell less bbq afterword supposedly. But I still smell bbq. Oh pls note this is a non smoking restaurant, I smell cigarette too. This is a big minus.

I went around 8pm and waited less than 5 min to go in alone. The food is good, but the portion is really really small. You only get a few pieces of meat per order (which were ~2000yen I think). Kimchi is also extra, which is a shame since I think this meal would've been too one-note/incomplete without it. You're also guaranteed to come out smelling like meat and smoke, and emptying a bottle of fabric spray will not help either lmao. I really liked the dimly lit atmosphere at night, it definitely added to the experience. Overall, food was delicious (the lamb had no odor and had a nice texture), but not sure it was worth the price of ~5000yen. If you eat a lot, two orders definitely won't fill you up so expect to spend more. Still, I would recommend Daruma for first timers since it's kind of a bucket list spot in Sapporo.

Pricey but delicious lamb. It’s really good to have locker to put all the jacket in, especially in winter. I haven’t eat lamb for years as I hate the weird taste, but the lamb here is totally fresh and delicious, not smelly and without any weird taste. While, it’s a bit pricey and I saw local Japanese usually order a bowl of rice and two plate of lamb as their dinner. Worth to try in Sapporo!

Good quality meat but you feel so rushed eating with people looking over.

I feel like I have to warn all Australians that this isn’t gonna beat your average aussie lamp chop bbq. You have to put yourself in the shoes of the rest of the world where lamb/mutton isn’t too accessible. The lamb is fine, pretty expensive for what you get. We went at around 5pm and had to wait 20 minutes which we felt was lucky as we tried to dine at like 5 other places and we were turned away at all of them as they were fully booked.

Superb Mongolian BBQ restaurant serving lamb and beef. Self bbqing on a small charcoal grill infront of you. Sweet onions are very tasty as its gets soaked with grease from grilling meat. No tables, just bar side dining. Quick service, very helpful staff. Not suitable for small children as smoking is allowed.

Surprisingly lackluster, flavorless lamb. The service was also a bit inattentive - I was the only one around my side of the counter not to be offered scissors for the meat.
