Very unique experience to say the least. Not sure if I’d take small children there though, as they could be shocked.

Was a fair amount in English but some still to be translated. Fascinating how well preserved the young girl was. Photos aren’t allowed inside. The museum is very small but you can spend at least an hour there if you don’t rush it.

It's not too big but very interesting if Inca culture attracts you. Relatively cheap (I paid $1200 as a foreigner; argentinians, people from salta, and people with disabilities get increasingly high discounts, disabled people paying nothing). They only expose one child's mummy at a time, you can know in the entrance which is it. The only CON I must say is that not only is it too dark at times, but also, you're not allowed to take pictures AT ALL. They say it's for preservation (what harm can a camera without flash cause? Not more than a human breathing carbon dioxide inside a room, hm?), I think it's to keep the inside a "secret" so they keep attracting tourists. Overall it was interesting, and I'm not that much into archeology and anthropology — for those people it will be even more enjoyable for sure.

Spent about 10 minutes inside. As a tourist, I had to buy a ticket online and register on another site without English options. The ticket itself is like 3$ cad so very affordable, but... Even if you register online and have your ticket, you still get in the same line as everyone else buying a ticket that day... Makes no sense!

Of you want to check the Inca's history is a must. The price is cheap and you can see mommies in a perfect conservation.

Beautiful little museum built around the discovery of 3 mummified children in a volcano near Salta. Only one child is displayed at a time, but there are many displays of the items found with the children. There are several short, informative videos with English subtitles that provide the history of the find, the preservation of the children, and basic information about the original people.

Interesting museum about traditions long forgotten. Mostly about a path of children that were to be sacrificed. One of three mummies is always on display. The best are the two girls, the boy is a bit less interesting to see.

Ok museum with interesting tho limited information on Incas. The highlight of the exhibition (the 3 mummies) is actually a little below expectations since it hyped the three children but actually show just one.

I am so lucky i got to see the maiden on display when i was there. I heard about her when she was first discovered and always wanted to see her. The best preserved mummy in the world. Fantastic. They have 3 mummies and only one is on display at a time. All are great. I only wish i could take photos but I understand it is for the preservation and i respect that. Definable worth a visit.

THE thing to do in Salta. The museum gives a great overview in both Spanish and English of the Inca traditions related to human sacrifice. There are many displayed objects, and at the end you see one of the three children. Super interesting to see. Don't miss on the second floor the "queen" another mummy who was not cared for when she was looted in 1920. It takes less than one hour.

Impressive cathedral, mass is celebrated everyday.

Both a great tourist attraction and a fully functioning Catholic church (mass is celebrated daily), this is the main cathedral in the city of Salta. Not old, for European standards, it was built in the mid 1800s, it still boasts a richly decorated interior full of altars and religious art (paintings, statues and a wonderfully fresco painted ceiling). The cloister next door is small and not breathtaking, but still worth to see when visiting the cathedral.

The heart of Salta. We witnessed a religious festival and the atmosphere was spectacular. And what a beautiful church, elaborate decor inside, full of life.

Historic Church. As an architect specialist in church architecture is a must. The main altar is unique.

Impressive example of decorative art. This building though is fairly recent. The atmosphere is cozy. The church has many security guards who are very helpful may you need assistance. It is a great place to pray or simply to admire the many different artifacts and sculptures.

Not very interesting, you have to climb a lot of stairs during around 1 hour, or take the telepheric. At the top, you don't have a 360 view panorama , but you can only see the city. No park to chill, and a fake waterfall. But there are sports installations and public toilets, and a restaurant.

At first I had a doubt wether it's worth it or not but I definitely recommend coming here if you have extra 1-2 hours. The upper area has amazing view on Salta and it's a very cozy and green area where you will find not so many choices to sit but there are some benches. Some people have no respect and sit at the places where people want to take pictures so that can be annoying. There is also some cafe but I didn't go there. The round trip costs 2200 pesos per person.

I walked up and down twice. The stairs are uneven and can get slippery in the rain, they are also very dark at night (bring a flashlight). But there were lots of people, even at night. at the top there is a restaurant open for lunch and it's pretty good. Great views of the city.

The experience was quite good. You will have to purchase tickets. It costs around 2200 pesos per person in the month of May 2023. It can increase depending upon inflation. Please keep your tickets with you till you return back from hills. You will need it while returning as well. You will have to wait in a long queue to purchase tickets and onboard the cable car. Wait time will be higher during return if you want to return at the closing hour at night around 7:30 PM. We had to wait in a queue for 1 hour while returning.

Take the lift to the top and enjoy the view of Salta Then you can easily walk down through the green hills 😀

Must visit for anyone coming to Salta. Late afternoon can have sun in eyes but is still a good time to visit. The queue for the cable car can be about 30 minutes but worth it.

This trip was disappointing there did not advise prior that the water features were not in operation which was my primary reason to go up there again. There is a restaurant up top which we didn't go to but the bar/cafe was nice with a great view for a sunset

For something to do the cable guys is a great option. Not alot at the top and be prepared to queue to come back down.

The most notable thing about the Minor Basilica and Convent of San Francisco is actually its bell tower, which at a height of 54 meters is the tallest of all South America. The whole exterior of this church looks stunning, especially when its rich red color contrasts against the blue skies of Salta. Unfortunately the exterior is not as well kept as it would deserve and you can see paint and stucco falling off from the walls here and there, also at the base of the bell tower. The price to visit the museum, at under 2 USD, is very reasonable and absolutely worth it, especially if you are fit enough to climb the stairs inside the bell tower. Alternatively, it is also very beautiful at night, when it is really nicely illuminated.

The visit worth every penny... The tour, the explanations, the passion explaining every single detail and the empathy, the smile….. Jazmín was the best guide!!! You will explore the whole Basilica, from the architecture, their story; to the Franciscan order and their influence, work and help with the aborigines. You will learn about architecture, history, Franciscan philosophy, aborigines, and more. And also you can buy gifts made from the order.

Not as rich and fancy as other basilicas but from the outside it does look beautiful. Also, some stuff inside look a little creepy and scary. Seems like they didn't have enough budget to create something better

Beautiful church. Very well decorated. Wonderful ceilings and sculpture. This is well maintained and clean with a nice nativity scene. There is also the little baby Jesus blessed by the Pope. We recommend to spend 30 minutes in this church.

The Amphitheatre is another nice presentation what nature can do. It's located just few hundred meters away from more popular Gargante del Diablo which we visited couple minutes before, so we stayed here less then there. Plus here were more people, so to be honest I liked Gargante more. If you are with younger kids then maybe this is better place for them to see stunning red rocks which were formed millions years ago in the past. Entrance is free...

For being so close to the road, this is an amazing spot to stop the car -- GO check out it out. The natural occurrences of wind and water have made this spot what it is -- a "chiminea" or chimney. A term I discovered when visiting Talamapaya National Park. The local vendors line the pathway to the center and if you're lucky, there's a flutist playing a tune.

Impressive scale and curvature of this rock formation. The flute players music reverberated well and without an echo (felt this was "cherry on top" kind of thing as we walked up to the final part to take a photo). Talk to the local vendors. We stopped and chatted in particular with one girl who sells earrings there. Her mom makes them by hand, even incorporating the metal part of the earring in some designs. I ended up buying a pair for $2,000 pesos or $7 USD (these could easily have been $25+ anywhere in the USA).

Special when there is no people… there is a point to go early when no need to share the space with groups taking selfishes.. beautiful place. The colours and lines a bending stone like water.

Amazing! Gorgeous! A must if you are traveling to northern Argentina. It is a geological structure where you are in the middle of a rock formation modified by the elements and besides that it’s just a few meters from the road, you have a parking lot and it’s free. Inside you can find some artisan selling things and you might find people playing some music taking advantage of the natural acoustic. 100% recommended

Beautifully decorated and bustling restaurant in salta. We got beef and charqui (jerky) empanadas, locro, and a bife de chorizo (ribeye). Everything was so good!! The empanadas were juicy and fresh and the ribeye was cooked just right. The locro was also good but it didn’t suit my palate as well as the other dishes. As a side note, the free bread starter that comes with tomato sauce and beans were delicious. I highly recommend going to this restaurant as I’m sure whatever you order will be good.

Touristic trap. I do not recommend to eat here. I do not understand all the good comments. Mediocre food, veggies were just boiled and served to us. Waiter clearly did not feel like doing his job. Horrible. I put two stars only because the price was honest. Cheap place, cheap food. If you are looking for something great to eat, this is not the place to be.

Several locals pointed us towards this restaurant, raving about it having the best empanadas in Salta. We decided to give it a try, and they were absolutely incredible! A must-visit if you're in the area.

Unfortunately the worst food I had in Argentina! Only half of the menu was even available, the dishes arrived cold, were small in size and absolutely greasy - the worst dish we had was the pasta, the consistency was thick and overcooked and lacked any salt. The lentils felt like they were put straight from the can onto the plates. Overall we were very unsatisfied with this evening… The service tried its best, was very understanding but helplessly stressed by being responsible for too many tables. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else instead please!

Had lunch here today. The restaurant itself is beautiful. Empanadas are great. Carbonada is such a winter dish. Flavor is good though a big salty. Grilled beef... hmm good but honestly didn't live up to my expectation re meat in Argentina. Not as flavorful as I expected. But overall 6000 pesos or $20 for 2 and we are full!

Went in just before they close for siesta, but they still serve us well. Food came out fast and very tasty! Portion was just nice for the both of us. Affordable price and the place is spacious. Recommended 👍🏽

I recently visited this restaurant and found it to be a great place for tourists. The prices are reasonable, and the quality of the food matches the price point. The performers were talented, and the music was fantastic, adding to the overall ambiance. However, I did encounter one issue during my visit. One of the singers exhibited rudeness towards customers. Specifically, he used a laser beam to point at people who were using their phones, creating an uncomfortable and shaming experience in front of the crowd. This behavior was unnecessary and detracted from the overall positive experience. Despite this unfortunate incident, everything else about the restaurant was enjoyable. The food was tasty, the prices were reasonable, and the live entertainment was a unique addition. I would recommend this place to tourists who are looking for a lively and entertaining dining experience, but it's important to be aware of the possibility of encountering some rudeness from one of the performers.

Such a fun experience! Food was awesome too! The only thing is that everything is in Spanish and not tourist oriented but we loved the energy and vibes.

📝 Unbelievable night and a must for anyone in Salta that wants to experience Argentine folklore. The dances, music and entertainment by the people on the stage were just so captivating: everyone had a great time in such a relaxed and joyful atmosphere. Well done! 📍 The peña is located on Balcarce, a few blocks away from the main square: a good 15 minutes walk. Inside it's pretty big and nicely decorated with many pictures on the walls. It felt cozy. 🍴 I only ordered a salad and a dessert. Food was good, nothing exceptional (but I can't judge on more sophisticated dishes). For the salad I had to pick 5 ingredients and they got 1 wrong at the end... but no end of the world for that. ☝🏼 Be sure to be there latest at 21:00, especially if you're a larger group. Even better: reserve a table in advance, otherwise you'll have a big risk to not find a place. The peña is VERY popular.

Thrilled to find a peña with a gluten free (sin tacc) menu! I am celiac / celiacos and felt great after eating a delicious lomo steak with mushrooms and a reduced Malbec sauce. The music and atmosphere were great as well. I appreciate the effort to make me feel confident and I highly recommend the restaurant!

Great show, service and drinks options. The vegetarian dish lacked a bit in flavour, but the meat dishes were great.

Ended Up in this restaurant for dinner, booked by phone and didn't imagine they had a really amazing performance for almost 3 hours (band and dancers), great food ever. The money we spent can't compare to the amazing entertainment and time we had there. It was totally worth it.

Argentinian waiters and waitresses must be one of the best in the world. This wasn't the exception, superb. The food was good, I tried the special of they day, goat, delicious. Will come-back without hesitate

Some great food with a more expensive price price than neighbouring restaurants, but this translates to professional service and a nice atmosphere to dine in. Big menu with a lot of bistro classics such as milanesas, burgers, parrilla... All dishes coming out of the kitchen were huge in size. Their roasted potatoes are a nice change from the regular fries you can get any where else. Even though you pay a little more here, you will walk away happy.

The food is amazing all the flavors and quality ingredients for sure. Specially veggie or vegan options which was very DIFFICULT to find healthy food without meat. A little expensive compared with other places in town but it’s worthy.

We paid our full check, and after leaving they ran after us saying it's missing 2,000 pesos. We paid (because it's like 3 dollars) but it's an incredibly disgusting behavior

This is a very nice and cute place. We only came for the empanada’s, which were amazing (and cheap!). Very good value for money and a nice, authentic vibe. Definitely recommend!

While the service here takes a long while, but rest be assured they are using the time to make great empanadas (well seasoned) and stews. The food was amazing and there were lots of locals in the restaurant. Would recommend if you’re the type that really appreciates a well cooked meal prepared with heart.

5 star fine dining! The food is absolutely delicious and very well priced. The service was top notch. We were recommended a great wine which complemented our food greatly. I would highly recommend coming here if you are in salta.

I came here about 5 years ago, I found the food fantastic, the food is still good, but as someone else said, it's kind of overcomplicated, too many Ingredients, so it's overwhelming when it comes to flavors for some dishes. Regarding the service, it was exceptional, thanks to Adrian and colleagues who made the dinner perfect.

The dinner was good. The service was not bad. I saw two tables had the dish of suckling pig. It looks so delicious!!!
