Rotorua is the place to go if you love the outdoors. It is the heart of the North Island's geothermal activity, with bubbling mud pools, steaming volcanic craters and abundant geysers. There are opportunities to go horse trekking, jet boating, kayaking, rock climbing, rafting and jet skiing. There are a number of walking tracks that pass through wonderful native bush and provide great bird watching opportunities.
