Nice collection but completely unorganized in any thematic or chronological way. Even the main exhibition of Dutch presence in Brazil is mixed with random pieces of sculpture and porcelain. Most of the pieces lack information or they are too small printed. Even more shocking is the text praising the Dutch colonization as a positive thing. The collection needs a good and critical curatorship work to transform it in a Museum.

Incredible museum by the Brazilian art collector and businessman Ricardo Brennand, one of the best I have visited apart from The Louvre in Paris. I recommend at least 3 hours to browse through all the buildings and some more time if you want to sit down for a coffee in the lovely Cafe or eat something in the restaurant. The Institute holds a permanent collection of historic and artistic objects of diversified provenience, ranging from Early Middle Ages to 20th century, with strong emphasis in objects, documents and artwork related to Colonial and Dutch Brazil, including the world's largest assemblage of paintings by Frans Post. The Institute also houses one of the largest collections of armory in the world, with 3,000 pieces, the majority of which were produced in Europe and Asia between the 14th and 19th centuries. The library has over 62 thousand volumes, ranging from 16th to 20th century, including a collection of brasiliana and other rare items.

One of the best and most unique museums in the northeast of Brazil, if not all Brazil. A must-visit if you’re in the northeast! The Dutch tapestries and the history of the Dutch in Brazil is fascinating, as is a vast building filled with thousands of weapons from the last hundred years. Add in the stunning gardens filled with capybara and monkeys strolling around and playing and this truly is a memorable place to spend a few hours. Cafe and restaurant on site too. Entrance is $50 BRL.

A lovely and somewhat eclectic museum on beautiful grounds. I especially enjoyed the Brazilian section with tapestries and paintings from the Dutch occupation in the 17th century. Well-worth a few hours’ visit.

This is definitely one of the best museums in Brazil, probably the best outside Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo. There is a wide variety of arts, from sculptures to painting, that cover different moments of history. The main exposition is about an important parte of Brazil, which is the Dutch occupation of the northeast, that happened in the 17th century. The building where the museum is gorgeous. The price (in Oct. 2020) is R$30, with half price for teachers and students. There is also a great restaurant there but it is quite expensive.

Beautiful beach as it has calm and strong waves! Great for kids ! Also known as Piscinas! Lovely walk and reasonable prices to rent seats and umbrella. Average 10 or 15 reas.

I prefered over Porto de Galinhas for a nice long walk where you can have wide shore, uninterrupted by "tourism" and view of the sea and shore without kiosks.

Boa viagem IS very popular and crowded Beach in Recife. Here you can get food and and rented chair for sunbathing and this Beach is very is to reach.

The gay beach area is here by the yellow umbrellas. Nice sand. Friendly people. Rent some chairs and umbrellas from the vendor and enjoy the sun.

A nice square with multiple options for food and drinks. However a lady came up screaming at us to give her money and kept following us even after we left the square when we said we had nothing to give. Luckily we lost her. I wish there was a bigger security or police presence not only because of this but also pickpocketing.

great place for visit, and really secure, have a lot of guards there, but the restaurant or how we called "bars" are no that good, I had to wait almost half an hour to get a drink there, no one came to our table to take down our order, but for visit it's cool, and if u wanna make some friends, or making money playing or selling your art, or anything, there's is a lot of people there that can be interested on it

Always a nice play to go, when you visit Recife. Around the place the town is renovating many of the ancient building. I advise to go an take a tour there.

Great place to hang out with friends and take in the atmosphere. There is live music getting close to carnival time as the local bands practice their acts. Shame that the historical buildings are not cared for though!!

The history of old Recife is well maintained around this area. There is an arts and crafts center in the square, and you can take a little boat to visit the sculpture garden over the reef nearby.

Tourist area to see the sign labed RECIFE to take photos. Lots of police when we were there. You still need to be careful with your belongings.

This is a great place to learn about history and the dutches :) You need to be aware of the hot sun! Make sure to drink lots of water and bring sunshade if you not used to this heat. The Marco Zero is a square you spend a few minutes at and just take it all in. Try to imagine how it used to look when the Dutch came to Brazil 🇧🇷

Nice bright modern mall with good selection of mid to upscale shops and restaurants. Enjoy the air conditioning. Be advised that they charge for parking but the first 15 minutes are free.

Absolutely fantastic shopping and dining experience. Allow 4 hours for a superficial walk about. Lots of activities for children. Upper scale shops with quality products especially if travelling next to Europe.

Very impressive collection of the multitallented artist Francisco Brennand. The first sculpture room lack titles and could have some explanatory texts to help understand his genius. Totally recommended!

Very peaceful place. Visiting during the week is good because it’s more calm and less crowded. The range of sculptures and paintings is amazing, not to mention that the grounds are beautiful and unspoiled to go for a walk or just sit and relax

Exceptional! The location seems surreal and the composition of art, architecture and landscape is stunning. Don't miss the sketches and paintings, they are of excellent quality and show the diversity of Brennands work. The idea to show so many works of a single artist in a place designed and developed by himself creates an unique atmosphere. Visiting this place felt like diving into another world... definitive a must-visit in Recife!

Esse é um museu essencial para quem gosta do Brennand ou de arte moderna. Um lugar limpo, tranquilo, e muito relaxante de visitar. This is a must-visit place in Recife if you like modern, daring art. It does contain quite a bit of phallic imagery, but a in abstract (it is the style of the artist). It's a beautiful indoor and outdoor museum. Very clean, and relaxing.

Rodrigo was absolutely wonderful, he tried his best to make my visit wonderful, we mainly communicated with Google translate. The restaurant menu (main courses) is designed for 2 or more people, hence i ended up ordering three starters. They were all average. The restaurant had live music until 9, the fresh watermelon was a delight. Everything else was with batter or deep fried, masking the great fresh ingredient under greasy cook. The price did not match the quality. I was there at 7 pm, and by 9, still plenty of tables free

Touristy and traditional ‘must try’ - many food options (it takes a lot of menu reading) portions are huge (well served), cocktails (caipirinha is a must), good environment, live music, friendly service. Back for the Tilápia with purê de mandioquinha!

Best food I've had in Brazil. Second best I've had in my life! I ordered the dual lobster plate. Every aspect was perfectly seasoned and flavored and each aspect complimented the others exquisitely! I VERY SELDOM do this, but I was compelled to personally offer my gratitude to the cheff! It was not a meal...it was culinary artistry. The service is first-class. The ambience is luxurious. This is a world-class contender of a restaurant. It would be worth you time to come to Recife Pernambuco just to eat at this restaurant. It is the Pearl of Pernambuco!

food quality low, overcooked (or reheated) and extremely slow service. waiters seem to forget half the order on the way to the register. had to ask four times to get the drinks. food arrived after more than an hour wait. definitely wouldn't recommend

Food at Camarão Camarada is quite good and I really recommend! Prices however are high and what is leading me to give only 3 stars is that I don't think they are adapted to the Covid requirements yet. While they have tables at the proper distance and are measuring temperature, when the waiter came to bring our food, he first delivery the food at another table, placing our dish besides a group of guests at that table, none of them wearing masks.

This is one the best place to eat bode (goat) and sol (northeastern sun dried) meats. They really know how to cook it, on several ways. Try their roast beef of carne de sol as well as their goat meat bbq. Staff is great, Ronaldo Nascimento serviced us and he made a great job. A must go place, where you can eat very well done typical food from the marvelous northeast of Brazil, the best region of this country.

Entre Amigos (between friends) is a good restaurant. You have to try Camarao Hawaiian (Hawaiian Shrimp), comes in a pineapple. Just Great!

The food in this place is absolutely delicious!!!! They had lots of options including vegetarian. The desserts were mouth watering and the staff really nice and friendly. It was my mum's birthday so they brought this amazing desert with a candle. So delicious!
