Amazing experience, it's easy to imagine what life was like in this setting. When Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79AD it covered the village in 19 feet of ash. The bodies they were able to recover are coated with hardened ash, it was mostly the slaves that were told to stay and look after the treasures when the eruption began. It was very busy but easy to find space in the 170 acres it's spread across. Cost €22 each to enter, definitely worth a visit.

Very cool to see how people live so long ago. The guide kept the tour fun and interesting. It was super hot, take lots of sun block and a bottle for water. There are water fountains to refill along the tour.

Not as big as Foro Romano, but has it's charms, and gives you the goosebumps when you see all the dead ancient bodies in the ceramic collection, and the Vesuvius being there silent.

This place is to go once, see and that's all. You have to be careful not to be scammed for a ticket, especially if you are a group. Specifically, they cheated us for 3 tickets, we bought 43 and while we were entering they inserted three people on our tickets, and if we had proof we had to buy those three more tickets. Mostly people are looking to deceive you at every step. Otherwise, the tickets are too expensive, 16 euros for those over 25 years old, in my opinion that's a lot for what there is to see. Been once and probably never again.

Hard to imagine what’s going on 2000 years ago, and what happen to those people. This is one of the most mystic and famous place in the world. Really cool that we can check this out. High recommend to hire a tour guide, and they can tell you the story and what’s important to see.

Tons of history to see here. We did a guided tour that allows you to skip the line. The walk is uneven so wear proper footwear. In the last 10 years they have added a sidewalk for individuals in wheelchairs to visit the main road. The tour we did was approximately 4 hours including commute. We didn’t see a lot of the infamous photos as we hoped. A brochure would’ve been nice to ask about certain topics interested in. I guess there is a museum where a lot of the artifacts are, which unfortunately we did not see in the tour. It’s crowded with tons of group tours and a lot of walking. 1/4 of site remains undiscovered as they are actively working the site

Pompeii is synonymous with disaster. After all, the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 covered them and killed many inhabitants who had nowhere to escape. But it is also a unique opportunity that many things have been preserved. Of course, walking through the ruins is very tiring in the summer, but what you see outweighs it. It is true that a few days later we added a visit to the remains in the Naples Museum and completed this stage.

I highly recommend to visit Pompéi with a guide ! Antonella showed us amazing typical houses, renovated with some original parts of the house. We learned so many things of the lifestyle of people at that time that we couldn’t without Antonella ☺️ To enjoy the place without tourists and fresh air I would recommend to start at 9AM

Interesting history. Too bad most of it has been stripped and moved to Naples. Most of it is bare bones walls of rock and brick. Quite extensive, but there isn't much to see. Far too hot for a summer day.

This is an incredible place. It exceeds any expectations you may have. The level of preservation is astonishing. If you can, make use of a guide. They will tell you so much you wouldn't find out by just wandering around. It's very busy so any trip needs plenty of time and once you're in you need at least two hours. Can't confirm prices as ours was part of an all in excursion.

This villa was preserved along with Pompeii after Vesuvius erupted in 79AD. In it you can see plaster molds of victims to the volcano, experience what a working villa that made wine. What's most famous is the well preserved frescas that are easily visible and are among the best examples for Roman art. The site is pretty far from the main Pompeii complex however it is worth a visit. You will come upon a gate that looks like an exit, but keep going and you will go through some gardens and then into the villa.

Simply mind blowing, probably the best frescoes from Pompeii are here. There's an infographic which explains every thing in the fresco. Looks like Romans were really fancy and had art in every room. Think about your house and compare it with this, which is at least 2000 years old.

Part of the Pompeii ruins (scavi), the frescoes are amazing. The preservation is just astonishing. As it is on one of the extremities, you can leave the "park" through here and then it's just a small walk to the train station.

Enjoyable afternoon visit, well preserved and priceless artefacts. Wish could spend more time admiring the artefacts, but crowd control left us with little time to spend. Best way to explore would be to find a lazy afternoon and go solo exploring the ruins and wander around.

When visiting Naples or Ercolano or Pompeji you need to get into this villa. Thousands of years old, survived Vesuvio nearly completely! Very well preserved, impressive wall paintings! You need approx. 5-7 mins from the actual park to get here but it is still within the archeological site!

Absolutely stunning villa ruins! The frescos on the main room are just gorgeous. Hard to believe that they are there on the walls for 2000 years almost. Must to see, so don't be afraid to take that small extra walk from Pompeii (the villa visit included in the ticket)

Beautiful well preserved house with some interesting differences from the other homes. While not in the center of Pompeii, it will require some navigation to get to but definitely worth the trek.

Stunning area. It’s a bit of a walk to get there from the entrance of Pompei, but well worth it. There’s a nice little breeze at the top, and the view point is lovely. It has several areas to sit inside in the shade if it gets too hot. Moreover, it’s just fun to walk around at the centre. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Pompei.

Amazing ruins as a reward after 3 different sets of stairs from the beach front. For those who love exercise and culrure its highly recommended.

A very well preserved and restored, Greek-style theater. Close to the forum and the entrance of the city. as with most attractions in the city, you can freely move about the stands and the stage. A lot of people choose to take a rest on the ancient seats.

It’s allways a tragedy when volcano erupts. In this case it happend in a way that preserved a whole city which is amazing. There is still 1/3 to be digged from the ashes, so maybe there will be some new discoveries..?🙏😎 Advise: - bring more than 0,5l water/person (in the summer) - for small kids use careier and not the stroler - bring umbrella for sun protection and sun creame - socks and confort shoues is also advised👍

I can understand some of the reviews, people expecting 'more' from Pompeii. It's there, it just all depends on the tour you take. If you've got the time, try another that goes in from another gate. Our guide took us this way, through the Teatro Grande. It's staggering, just unreal how advanced we really were then. Take every tour through Pompeii. See it all.

Amazing experience exploring the ancient ruins of Pompeii. So historic and the walk through exhibit was very knowledgeable. Recommended before heading the old streets of what was Pompeii. It's 163 acres of old city area!

Very interesting. I highly recommend a guided tour to get the history and truly appreciate what you are looking at. Amazing, so unique and beautiful. Our guide was fantastic. This was one of my favorite stops in Italy.

Fun and interesting! This unique building, used to hold the ancient old business, was a very fun and interesting place to visit! First, the building was very conveniently located off the main street, so guys would not get lost in hurry. Plus, there were some street signs and "arrow", were using the male body symbol instead of real arrow. Moreover, there were amazingly visible and artistic pictures on the wall to guide you. Those pictures don't look dirty or sexual, but rather informative and educational. It is a miracle just to think about that this brothel was buried for more than 2000 years and you are looking at it now!

Pompeii was such a wonderful historical place to visit. There is so much to see thst you would need a week to do it all

If you're in Naples, you HAVE to see Pompei. Visited via a shore excursion from a cruise, and although it was packed with visitors, it's still amazing to see such a well-preserved glimpse into the past. Amazing.

It's a very beautiful site, full with history, it's a MUST if you're visiting Naples, but there are some things you need to know before. First of all, there are some places where you can get tickets just in the railway station, but don't! The price is much higher plus the site is 300m far, it's a total scam. The purpose is not to wait on the line once you get to the site, but it doesn't take too much time, max 20min. Also, they propose a guide tour for like 15€ each, and last for 2hours. You won't need it, really! They were like ' if you don't take a guide tour you'll only see some rocks and understand nothing', well they just wanna sell.. The site is really beautiful and it's 8km, you don't wanna be stuck with some group. You can visit it by your own, take some breaks, and you can also take some sandwichs and water with you, because it will take your more than 3 hours to see everything and enjoy all the beautiful views.

Good place to visit in the afternoon, when the sunlight makes this place looking amazing.

It's a must, it could be £50, and I would still pay to go. If you go in the summer, bringing lots of water, a hat, and even an umbrella to block the sun would be a good idea. (July)

We were on a guided tour, which was great because the guide was very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, there were times when the tour moved too quickly, and I did not have enough time to look around.

Fresh seafood in a nice upscale restaurant at a convenient location (right next to the Pompei station!) We ordered seafood pasta and ravioli with squid stuffing and pumpkin sauce. The ravioli is very delicious, but the pasta is a bit too dry and salty. The restaurant gave us many complimentary sides such as the fried dough with cauliflower and even two small glasses of prosecco. The service is very good too. Would recommend a visit!

The food was extremely good and the staff very knowledgable and friendly. I would definitely eat here again. This restaurant is high-end compared to the restaurants in this touristic area. I checked the negative reviews and they seem to be tourists who just notice it on the street and walk in for a quick lunch: I don't think this is the right place for them. If you are planning a proper lunch or dinner, with high quality, then reserve a table here for the proper experience.

This classic Italian restaurant had a great selection of items. The staff was very helpful with suggestions on specialities and wine selection. Even though we were dressed very casual we still felt welcome among the more well dressed customers. This was the first restaurant that I have ever seen that had a dietary restrictions / intolerances menu with icons. As a supertaster, this was very helpful.

What a pleasant surprise. Spaghetti with buffalo butter and fresh anchovies, risotto with a touch of cafe, fried artichoke and octopus. Great deserts and a reasonably priced wine list. Price value ratio, a solid 5 on a weak 30.12.2021 corona ridden week.

Overall the price for the food and the experience was worth it! The beginning was a little rocky because I stopped by earlier in the day to get a reservation, however they didn’t write my name down so make sure that you do so! The food itself was fantastic as were the breadsticks, the waiters were good, however I did find myself feeling like we had to wait longer than I would like. One of the diners is lactose intolerant and they made a lactose free dessert without us needing to ask, which was a nice surprise. Overall I think this restaurant is worth a visit if you are in Pompeii. I do want to note that while the food was great from a technical perspective I felt that it and the service lacked some of the homey-ness and heart that have made some of my experiences in Italy truly great and memorable.

Brilliant place! Not touristy at all and it's where all the Italians are eating. The food is simple, fresh and beautiful. Any Italian classics you want, with generous portions at great prices. The owner was super friendly and took time to chat to us about the food and give us recommendations.

An absolute gem! If you’re going to Pompei stop by here before or after. It’s on your way to and from the train station. Family run for 5 generations. Amazing handmade pasta and seafood. The owner is amazing and extremely outgoing. You feel like your at the family’s home for a meal. Skip the touristy spots and go here!

Very tasty food and at great prices. The waiter was really nice and explained every dish in the menu for us. The place is really big and also has nice bathrooms.

This was by far the best and most affordable restaurant I’ve been to in Italy. The host was very kind, knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations for food. Good vibes, great service, AMAZING wine. We were even given a “digestive” made of fennel at the end. Don’t skip this spot, I came with my wife and son and we loved it.

excellent pizzeria, friendly staff and always available in advising their customers. the only drawback if we want to find it and the organization of the preparation and management in bringing the pizzas to the table. 7 pizzas to take to the table, 3 of which arrived 15 minutes later and, moreover, cold ..... for the rest everything is ok excellent place. we will definitely be back.

Seriously the gluten free pizza is to die for! The sauce is full of so much flavor with high quality cheese. Good friendly service. Don’t forget to add the Buffalo mozzarella ball! They also have a selection of taste steaks!

We found the place as it was the only one opened and looked good when others were still closed. The pizza was very good. The menu is a little bit cofusing at first but you can find other options than pizza also.

We ordered 4 pizzas and shared them (as shown in the photo) and they were great. Incredible service, even when we ordered a small plate of extra marinara sauce the waiter was open and nice about it. Music was great, price as well (ranging between 6-10 euros).

The best restaurant experience we had during our trip to Italy. The staff was really nice, they speak great English so we had no problem communicating. The food was amazing, we had carbonaras, pasta with clams and pizza frita. All of them great taste with good ingredients. The building of the restaurant was big with many tables and comfy atmosphere. Toilets also really clean and easy to use. Highly recommend this place!

Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience. The menu is inviting, but the pizza and calzone we got was not cooked (raw dough). Service was slow, but we did come during off hours so I can see past that. I can't recommend this shop due to the risk of being served raw food.

Really good food, with my wife we ate two pizzas and in my opinion the best we tried in Naples. on the other hand the service was disappointing, the waitress ( short black hair) threw both plates on the table, she even coughed on one of the pizzas without at least apologizing. really little tact. The service fee should not be charged, the attention is lousy. It's a pity because the place is beautiful in the center, very delicious food but if the owner sees the recommendations he has to leave that waitress urgently.

Fantastic, friendly service by a 3 person team. Beautifully appointed restaurant, fabulous food! The grilled mixed seafood with a side of grilled vegetables was right on point! The local, house red wine was nice too. My friends salad and gnocchi also well done. Prices are fair especially given the quality of the service and food. Highly recommended! Enjoy.

Food was 5 star. We had no reservation but luckily got a table, super accommodating, dining experience was peaceful. The server was knowledgeable and had amazing wine recommendations (and didn't try to hose the tourists) the seafood was fresh and perfectly cooked and the atmosphere was welcoming and kind. We had an amazing bottle of wine Prosecco on entry gratis Steak dinner Seafood tasting platter And a seafood trio dinner. Paid $120 euro and was worth every bit. (The wine itself was $45 euro 2013 regional masterpiece)

The food was fantastic, the waitstaff was great, and The prices were reasonable for the quality. I’d highly encourage trying the light and fluffy lemon dessert! It was incredible.

Delicious food and fantastic service! The waiter was very nice to us and gave us recommendations for the food which was delicious! My only points would be that is a bit pricier. A wine glass is €7 so probably should have done a bottle than individual glasses. A main dish is around €20.

If you are in Pompeii and want something a bit special and a real Italian restaurant experience, then this is the place. For 2 adults we paid €115 for starters, main and a bottle of wine, which we felt was great value for the quality. The food was excellent - fresh cooked Italian dishes and seafood. And also excellent service and atmosphere. We went early evening (1900) and it looked like all the tables were reserved, but we managed to get a table. There were Italian families eating with well behaved children. I'd definitely recommend this place and would go again.

Great dinner, but expected a bit more for a recognized restaurant in the Michelin Guide. We reserved via The Fork and were offered 20% discount, which never hurts. Upon arrival it seemed this was only valid for a la carte, but that’s what we wanted anyway. Dishes were nice, although mains were a bit too salty. The waiter was a bit direct for our liking, and acted very weird at the end. Upon presenting the tip, he got very awkward. He didn’t thank us, and was busy trying to hide the tip from his colleagues. I guess he was not planning on sharing anything… well, his karma, but from my perspective this ruins the experience.

We had a wonderful evening in Il Principe restaurant. All of the team are amazing and so proffessional but the food really stole the show. The culinary creations were truly delicious and the stories surrounding them are enchanting. Thank you for creating a special menu for us and an extremely special evening. I don't think it will be long before a Michelin Star adorns your wall.

Lovely restaurant with excellent food and service We opted for the blind tasting menu "the soul" and 5 wine pairing. The amuse bouche set the tone a wonderful selection of textures. The pasta dishes were full of favour and complemented by local regional wines. Stand out dish was the artichokes cooked 3 ways covered in an artichoke ash

Creative menu, stunning presentation, delicious flavors, fresh ingredients and friendly service. We absolutely LOVED our lunch in the restaurant's herb garden after touring the Pompeii ruins. Gian Marco Carli is truly an artist.
