Reasonably interesting, but could do better in telling the story of the royal family and the house. Nice set up but needs context. Recommended but could be outstanding with a bit of polish.

Beautiful museum with detailed information about the Brazilian Royal family. Unfortunately, you cannot take pictures or videos inside except for the carriage room.

Museum in Petropolis built during the reign of the last Brazilian emperor Pedro II. Fascinating insight to the imperial family of Brazil, lots of paintings of the emperor, empress and their two daughters. Anyone interested in the 19th century history of Brazil should find this enjoyable. It is worth doing some research on Internet beforehand. My doing so made it more interesting for me. It is not possible to take photos inside. Part of a day trip to Petroplois from Rio de Janiero.

Wonderful museum. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Plenty of history all over, definitely a graceful piece of the Brazilian history.

Great museum, it is sad that you cannot take pictures inside. They give you these funny shoe covers which are nice. The gift shop crazy expensive 😂. Really! A magnet costs 45 reals.

Historic place, charges $8 Reais for entry, coming from the US didn't know much about Santos Dumont, interesting aviator scientist

It is a super small museum, it takes you probably 30 Minutes to see everything. It is very interesting if you are a fan of history and specially the history of the planes. The only downside is that the infrastructure there is quite bad. And it is super small, so if you go on a busy day, it will be impossible to go in.

I went on his birthday and it was very busy, however it was great to learn more about the type of person he was and his lovely house.

Historic place which deserves a visit in order to get better acquainted with Alberto Santos Dumont and his inventions and some details about him.

Nice quick historical visit. Very unique and true story, the first registered flight without wind help or catapult. The real inventor of the first airplane!

Beautiful site with a rich history and gorgeous scale replicas of Santos' creations, and the original house designed by Santos Dumont himself. The entrance fee is decent, and they offer a video (with English subtitles) that tells the true story of Mr. Dumont. This is a must-visit site for fans of aviation history. Keep in mind the stairs are steep (which is part of the original history of the house), but there is an elevator available for people who have difficulty.

Incredible church from the exterior to the interior. It is important because its the crypt of the Royal family of Brazil, which is sadly off limits to visitors.

Very interesting architecture, neo gothic influence. Remains of the late emperor D. Pedro II, his wife Teresa Cristina, his daughter Princess Isabel(who freed the slaves) and her husband Count D. (Gaston).

Cathedral in Petropolis. After their exile to and death in Europe, the remains of the last Brazilian emperor Pedro II and his wife were laid to rest here in marble tombs. His surviving daughter and her French husband are also entombed here. Of interest to those interested in 19th century imperial history of Brazil.

One of the most visited places in Petropolis, Rio de Janeiro. The gothic stile is in complete harmony with the city. This 360° view was taken by drone at 70m high, touch the icon to control.

Its now a hotel and they don't allow visitors inside.

A fascinating castle/hotel. You'll see big rooms, big chandeliers, comfortable sofas and things like that. Don't miss it.

Pay and do the guide visit because there are much more history about that the plates in front of each room/place. The value of the guide visit is valid. reserve 2 hours

Great side trip to see the hotel on the way to or from Petropolis and the Imperial palace. The restaurant nearby looks great as well. There are nice plaques with information with some in English as well.

It’s a short stop before Imperial Palace that you must stop and visit on your Petropolis trip. As you can see the outside is something out of a village in Switzerland but the inside were all glammed up! Each room has its own personality and characteristic - for a purpose. The kitchen although empty just shows how big and thought through this place once was. There’s a hotel on the top floor which I think would be nice. Petropolis itself is a cozy and cute little town. Very different to buzzing Rio!

Beautiful palace, and some couples take wedding photography there. I really liked the round hall with incredibly charming echo. You can add some of your graffiti in the chalk room 😎

This wax museum was ok but very small and with terrible lighting for photos. The whole experience could be better, although the actual wax celebrities are very realistic, almost scarily so! It’s pretty expensive for what it is, although the student discount is good.

Quite interesting. Restrooms and drinking fountain. Only go there if you've got time.

A really nice place like Madame Tussaud Museum in Petropolis. There is Elvys Presley, Marylin Monrroe, Superman and important leaders of Barzil. Even Mr. Bean, E.T., Batman, Back to the future and some athletes!

I really wanted to love this place. The grounds are incredible.and the view is amazing and the food was even good. But the service was so weird. This is one of those buffets where you have a card that you flip green or red depending if you want more food. Well people started coming around and we were asking the staff what we were being served...we knew it was beef or chicken...but some had garlic sauce and some was striploin or pineapple or cheese bread...and I think because they didnt speak english and we couldnt communicate in Portuguese they literally stopped coming to our table. We could see the waiters going to all the other tables and completely avoiding us until we had to holler them over. About 8 people passed. We didnt really care what we were eating...the food was food. Just inquiring until we realized they couldnt tell us...we think that may be the reason they skipped. But it's not cheap and definitely wasnt worth the money for that kind of service. We felt really weird watching the staff avoid us with our green cards up on the table and no one coming near us. Anyways...go it's super popular...maybe it was just us. Who knows.

Excellent Brazilian steakhouse with premium cuts of meats well served in a all-you-can-eat system and placed close to the Quitandinha Hotel. The place has a beautiful view of the landscape and is usually crowded on weekends. The only regret is the price is not easy.

My fellow Americans and foreigners, you need to see this place in person. Take you time, ask for a table in the new saloon with incredible views, ask for a wine and after all, take a papaya with Contreau. Enjoy! My regards and sincerely thanks to all staff and management. PS: I travelled a lot around the world, and trust me, this place is amazing.

This place would have been fantastic even at twice the cost!! Everything I tried from filet of mignon to the scallops was a delight. Being from the US and considering the food, service, and all around atmosphere, this was an awesome find.

I went in the place. The place offer various kinds barbecue. Here have a big food. We're satisfied with the place.

Quick service and lots of options, plenty of space. Plus off-menu specials like Japanese buffet night.

Used to be good no more! Price increases and service decrease.

Food is not that good, portions are big but flavor is not good.

The one star of because of there Pumpkin soup. Outside of that every dish was horrible. Fresh pasta with a mushroom cream sauce and filet mignon. What filet mignon? The dish literally had 3 tiny pieces. The lasagna was served cold in the center. And they serve a filet mignon but you have to ask for a steak knife? Servers where very unhelpful. Never again would I waste my time or money.

The beer and food menu is exquisite. The personnel's attention is superb. Fred gave us an amazing tour through the installation where we tasted 4 different beers and learned about the history of beer and Bohemia Cervejaria.

Very amazing museum of beer and historical place! Must visit for sure! There's awesome restaurant with amazing steaks and hamburgers. Of course beers are awesome and you will have to taste them as the brew master will be on vacation for sure when you will visit 😉

Very pleasant place, located at the former stables of 18th Century Casa de Petrópolis. Service staff very nice and friendly. Kitchen is decent, but nothing to call home about (or maybe our weekday lunch special selection wasn’t supposed to be that great for the reasonable price they charge)

Nice place with a good food. We liked the prices also which were not to high even if the restaurant looked expensive. It was super cool that there is a staff member who speaks English so it was an amazing time for us! Portions are big and really tasty. We liked the vibe and location.
