The Royal Palace and the Palatine Chapel in Palermo are two of the most popular tourist attractions in Sicily. The Palace is home to elaborate Byzantine mosaics and paintings, while the Chapel features dazzling gold mosaics. Both attractions can be quite crowded, so be sure to arrive early if you want to see them without having to wait in long lines.

Very small church, but probably the most beautiful I saw in my life. You'll be able to get here with palace tickets, and, probably, it's the only worth visiting place in the whole palace. Ceiling is beautiful and so unusual, mosaics are marvelous and, obviously, a lot and a lot of gold around. Real masterpiece.
The chapel is marvelous but really small, the palace itself is nice too. The garden is small but well maintained. The royal chambers were close when we visited, so I cannot comment on them. There are a couple of exhibitions, but we were very disappointed by them. The entry fee of 15 euros is a little excessive for what it is.
My experience of this grand structure was very negative. Much of it was closed off and not accessible. I paid 15.50 euro for admission and then had to get change and pay to use the toilet. ALL of the staff members I saw or interacted with (about ten) were surly, on their phones, and not wanting to be bothered by visitors. It's a good thing none of them were on my payroll. One would expect to buy a ticket at the entrance. No. One has to hike across a large park plaza to a kiosk on the far side. That said, the royal garden was pleasant and the royal chapel especially satisfying to visit.
While the chapel is significantly smaller than other churches in Palermo, its interior is by far the most exquisite! The rest of the palace is also worth a visit, and both of its gardens are lovely. If you like the golden mosaics & Arabic-Norman-Byzantine architecture, definitely visit the cathedral in nearby Monreale.
Nice place, I guess it has to be seen when in Palermo. The main attraction is the church. Beautiful mosaics, really spectacular. The rest is a bit hit and miss. The royal garden is nothing grand, few contemporary exhibits along the way, that frankly can easily be missed. Price wise, it is a bit stiff for what's on offer.
Royal palace and chapel near the cathedral. Stunning chapel inside to visit, an art gallery, small museum and gardens. The palace apartments (higher price ticket) were closed when we visited which made the visit a bit shorter. There's a Cafe in the gardens which is nice but compact. €30 for two adults, child free, but found it a little short for the price. Surprised that there's a charge of ¢50 to use the toilet. We held on. Ok but a little underwhelming.
Lovely place. You get to see the main concourse garden and Chapel. Sculpted dogs lying on floor? Interesting.
Mast have to visit if you are in Palermo! Stunning and unique place what will blow up your mind! Absolutely creamy mix of styles and you have to see it at least once in your life. Better to buy tickets in the kiosk what is not far away from the entrance, as according to the security with e-tickets might be some issues, especially if it was not bought in advance. Surprisingly there were no lines.
A bit expensive to enter but there are 4 distinct areas to visit that cover a time span from BC to 1800s so a decent value. We went on a rainy Monday so the line to get tickets was 15 minutes but we’re glad we waited in it.
Chapel and was absolutely blown away by the beauty of the architecture and decor. The intricate details and grandeur of the palace and chapel are truly breathtaking, and I highly recommend a visit to anyone in the area. However, I was disappointed to find out that the toilet facilities were not free. While I understand that maintenance and upkeep costs money, it would have been nice to have been informed of this beforehand, or for there to be a more affordable option available. Despite this minor inconvenience, the Royal Palace and Palatine Chapel are a must-see for anyone interested in history, art, or architecture. The stunning beauty of the site is truly worth the visit.

The Catacombs of the Capuchin monks in Palermitano are home to 8000 corpses dating from the 16th century to 1920, all of which are neatly dressed and pinned to the walls. The macabre attraction is especially spooky due to the well-preserved corpse of Rosalia Lombardo, who died in 1920 at two years old.

This place is a sight to see. I have been to many catacombs but there are definitely unique in the way the mummies are displayed in a unique way. I have found this very interesting and educational esp because you can also see different clothes the dead would wear at different times. Definitely not a place for kids or fainthearted. Entrance is 3€.
My husband and I were confused by different info regarding whether or not this place is open so we went there today. We were so hoping it was open Unfortunately it is not open yet. ☹️ The gentleman at the office stated they are hoping next month it will be open. So maybe sometime before summer.
Absolutely incredible and unique place. For me it was a deep mystical experience. Not recommended for sensitive natures. The air was quite heavy underground. The entrance fee was 5 €

Well bit creepy place - I had some nightmares after visit. But it's very special cultural place and if you looking for FUN do not go there! Ticket costs me only 3 euros - unfortuanetly had no cash but lady on the desk after while took card payment. Please remember it's very special place and do not any records or do not take pictures there! CCTV there is for a reason and it's kind of heritage and pay respect for the bodies there (record is played from speakers about fact you should not record anything, and if you break the rules someone will catch you on CCTV and remind you where are you) . Is impressive experience - for me bit unique and it can open eyes for the culture.
This place is not for the faint hearted. Seeing thousands of corpses hung on the walls may not be your idea of entertainment or vacation attraction. I had to visit this place on the insistance of my companions otherwise I would not have. I could only stand about 15 minutes walking around the grotesque figures only scientists of anthropology may be able to bear. These pictures are not taken by me but obtained from friends even though it is not allowed to take pictures inside. The choice is yours...
Something different if you like those sort of things. Worth to see for sure. You can literary feel that you are moving back time. It could be little bit overwhelming if you are more sensitive but I recommend it.
An interesting experience, a lot of death bodies is here, adults and children's also to. The tax for entrance is 3 euro/person. It's close between 12:30 and 15:00. Must see in Palermo!
Nothing wrong with the place per se, but if you actively enjoy the place I feel you need psychological evaluation. This is the sort of place someone who listens to True Crime podcasts might like. There is close to no educational background or historical information to make this a valuable experience. It's literally just caves of decaying bodies, huddling over you with missing jaws, hoods and empty eye sockets. Just imagine walking in a line through streets of dead, mummified bodies hanging over your head- including small children and people with signs round their necks. It's pretty horrifying if you aren't fully prepared for this, and there is nothing done to prepare you. I felt when I reached the Bambino corridor (babies and children) i was ready to get out. It was already reminiscent of a certain space I don't want to mention. I honestly feel like I inhaled human skin. Not saying this place is bad, but if you don't have a taste for the macabre and there's a limit to the amount of dead bodies you want to see in your lifetime (let alone on holiday) maybe avoid and go for a walk instead. I'm a bit traumatised, to be honest.

The imposing church of Santa Maria dell'Ammiraglio was erected in 1143 but underwent a major Baroque remodelling in the 16th and 17th centuries. The church is distinguished by its elegant Norman campanile, and its interior features some of the most beautiful Byzantine mosaics in Sicily.

Magnificent church originally built in 12th century by Normans in Byzantine/Islamic style. Half of it was painted over with baroque scenes, while the other is ancient and much more interesting (adorned with countless mosaics). Here and there you find columns inscribed with Arabic characters. Visitors entry is possible only for a few hours in a few days, so be sure you check its schedule!
One of our favorite churches that we visited in Palermo - specifically the amazing mosaics in such an otherwise small and intimate church. Make sure you save your church tickets for possible discounts at other churches, too!
Note that enterence is for a small fee and place might be overcrowded, but it worth it. Very beautiful church with a mix of styles. Must see in Palermo.

At least three very different cultures merging in a single place, lavishly yet pleasantly decorated. My eyes could barely take in all of that beauty. Unique place, worth a visit. There is an entrance ticket to pay of 2.5 euros, but if you visit any other church nearby you get the reduced ticket for 1 euro.
Amazing, as good as the Palatine chapel. Although not as detailed you could take it in more easily. Well worth the 2 euros.
Visited this place today. We paid 2.5€ for entrance, but it was 2x2 room with literary nothing to see. It is fraud. The thing is they cover entrance with curtain, so you can not see for what you pay until you actually pay and come inside. It is on the right upstairs. Do not go there. It appeared it is not main church, we did not know that and no one told us.

Piazza Pretoria in Palermo boasts of the Fontana Pretoria, a 1500s fountain renowned for its intricate, multi-tiered structure adorned with sculptures of nude mythological creatures such as nymphs, tritons and river gods. The fountain's design features concentric circles of basins that ripple outwards. However, due to the overt nudity depicted in the sculptures, local churchgoers dubbed it "Fountain of Shame.

The Fontana Pretoria is a monumental fountain located in Piazza Pretoria in the historic center of Palermo. The fountain dominates the piazza on the west flank of the church of Santa Caterina, and is one block south of the intersection of the Quattro Canti. The fountain was originally built in 1544 in Florence by Francesco Camilliani but was sold and moved here.
Definitely one of the nicest fountains I've ever seen, right up there with Trevi, you need 20 minutes just to take it all in, plust there are so many amazing things to visit all around it.

Large fountain dating from the 1500s. The marble statues represent various mystical figures. As of Oct 2022, the fountain wasn't operational.
Beautiful place. The Fountain of Shame (designed by Francesco Camilliani), is in the heart of the historic center of Palermo, is decorated with some 50 marvellous statues of monsters, harpies, sirens and tritons.
Worth a visit. Lots of history around the plaza. Apparently the nuns used to come out and cloth the statues every night and the government officials would come and remove the clothes revealing the statuses in all their glory every day. The architecture is once again outstanding. Just don’t see that kind of detail today.

The Church of the Gesu is a prominent baroque-style church completed in the 1630s with frescoes and many bas-relief sculptures. The church often called the Casa Professa, due to its role as a theological seminary, has an intricate and ornate interior with colorful frescoes, intricate stone carvings, and 18th-century marble reliefs depicting the Adoration of the Magi.

Gorgeous church… the exterior doesn’t really prepare you to how majestic the interior is. I also noticed a symbol that looks a lot like the illuminati symbol but i cant find any information about it online. Does anyone have any idea the history behind it?
I was shocked to find such a beautiful church in an absolutely random place. This is one of the most beautiful baroque interior I’ve ever seen, and I’ve seen plenty. The eye in the triangle which is also related to Illuminati - is actually a regular Christian (and not only) sign which symbolizes an eye of the God and an unlimited power of the God to see everything in the world. So called Eye of Providence or all-seeing eye.

Unbelievably stunning church. Unassuming from the outside but we’ll worth a visit inside! Incredibly ornate with beautiful ceilings. Definitely check this one out. We’re not church people, but really enjoyed it.

From the outside you’ll never know how splendid it is. It is super decorative, unique style that i’ve never seen in another region in Italy. There was no crowd, I could enjoy watching peacefully as much I could.
it's the most beautiful church I've ever seen. It is decorated throughout with rich marble stucco and the ceiling is stunning - with beautiful paintings in a modern style. The church was rebuilt after the bombings in 1943 and I honestly can't imagine they could have been done better job. Truly hand of God itself!

Really interesting choice of Baroco architecture. Beside the ceiling the church is not painted which is amazing given the amount of details in the columns. Normally we never give reviews and reviews but this restaurant Torquemada deserves good review from our experience in 5 days evening dinner. We are really good helped by the staff and don't forget our beautiful lady Germana she is really customer friendly you can really go to her for advice . It is really a family restaurant and for all target groups. The price and food are not expensive. I can only say for us it was super great. We really enjoyed the restaurant Torquemada. Truly fantastic food. Incredible! We actually discussed going back every night of our visit. Would recommend Torquemada to anyone. The staff were also very helpful and lovely.
Delicious Sicilian cuisine! Lovely lady recommended an authentic starter and dessert to share, and we had amazing pizza (best we tasted in Palermo) and a lovely local wine. We would have returned if we’d had longer in `Palermo. We sat outside but it was really nice inside too, with a friendly ambience. Thank You <3
One of my favorite experiences in Palermo/Sicily. The pasta with swordfish and eggplant was beyond incredible, truly one of the best plates of pasta I've ever had. The staff were so friendly, I was even gifted a shot of limoncello before I left by the owner. One of my most memorable dinners ever. Would definitely return with friends if given the chance.

Sikulo is a restaurant in Palermo, Sicily that serves up some of the best food in the area. The atmosphere is relaxing and inviting with patio tables that make it perfect for summer dining. The service can be sporadic later in the evening when busy, but otherwise it's a great place to go.

We searched for places to eat on Google and came across Sikulo, it had good reviews and the menu looked great. We went to the restaurant but unfortunately it was fully booked, bare in mind it's a Monday night, however they managed to fit us in for an hour. We quickly realised why it gets fully booked, the food was delicious. For our starter we had a sharing platter of cheeses and cold meats, there was a great selection of both I don't usually like blue cheese but decided to try some, it was mild and creamy. For Main my partner had sesame coated salmon and I had the pork shank, both were cooked well and tasted great. We were sat next to where they were cooking the pizzas, they looked and smelt amazing. The staff were very efficient in the way they were serving, it was like a ballet. Special mention to Frederica who was our server, she was friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome, also would like to mention the two ladies on the door who gave us the opportunity to eat in this restaurant, I unfortunately did not get their names. By the time we left at 9pm both inside and outside was full, I would say mostly local residents frequent here and possibly few tourists so booking in advance is advisable if you want to eat here.
Good food and nice atmosphere. Bit of a walk out of town. It was very busy while we were there with slow table service. Pasta was good but not the best we had while in Sicily
Was not clear from the menu which dish are vegetarian but the waitress pointed out a few options and made good suggestions. The pasta I had was very tasty. So don't worry if there is no vegetarian option on the menu, they can make them for you.
Great food and atmosphere. Attentiveness of service dropped off later in the evening when busy, otherwise it would be 5 stars. Will definitely be going back , highly recommended
Hands down some of the best pasta and pizza we’ve ever eaten, and we are huge foodies. We were in Palermo for 5 nights and came here twice. The staff are very nice and try their best to accommodate you even with limited English. Get the pizza with 4 different slices or just the burrata pizza, I almost cried when I first ate it - that’s how good it was.
The food here is great but the menu experience is awful. Upon sitting, diners are forced to scan a QR code and enter their names, emails, and phone numbers, all in mandatory fields, just to see a menu. If Sikulo gets rid of the stupid mandatory data collection to view a menu, this restaurant would be worth the visit. It’s a shame, because the pizza and pasta were excellent and the waiters were friendly and helpful.
Tried fried calamari and prawns 🍤 wasn’t impressed much. Though a pizza was very good. Service was ok, but waiters were changing so had to look for someone responsible.
The food here was absolutely amazing. The beef carpaccio and Sardinia meatballs for starter were superb, the pasta for our mains was some of the best we’ve ever eaten. I’d highly recommend the panna cotta for dessert, it was delicious. The service from Giuseppe could not have been better, he took the time to translate the menu for us as we do not speak Italian. Made sure to explain everything and give us anything we needed.. really great experience.
The food was divine. My family ordered 4 different dishes to share amongst the 4 of us. Both fish dishes were delicious and the sides complimented the main ingredients perfectly. The pasta was the best we’ve had in Italy and the risotto was daring and unique with small raw red shrimp. But perfection. Wonderful place.

Absolute amazing! So so tasty! We had various different flavours over a few days and they were all great!
Very service minded, we ordered 4 different and they just sat all of them on the same plate - we looked confused and the waiter just went - look here and on the button of the wrap the type was with a sticker - so simple. Taste is very special - the normal and BBQ was my favourites
They have the best arancini I have had in Palermo… and I ate a lot of them here (so convenient and filling). Suggest you eat one and see how you get on as they’re massive and really filling. Suggest you try the traditional (ragu) before you go all adventurous on their other versions (their chicken curry one is nice too!). They also have a baked version which is ever so slightly healthier. Highly recommended!
The best Arancini I have had. They were pretty busy every time I passed by but the customer service was still good.
Favourite place to taste Arancine. After trying this place, I couldn’t even try any other because I couldn’t imagine a better taste and don’t want to miss this. Various types exist in the shop. In two days I went there two times. Tasted Norma, traditional, spinach and swordfish. Favourite is traditional. Must go if you visit Palermo.

Basically good arancini, though the filling is a little spicier than other purveyors of this regional dish. Some say it has the best of its kind, but I think I've had better in Palermo. The service was friendly and the food was good to take away. I can recommend a visit.
We tried plenty of arancini when we were in Sicily but these were the absolute best. The amount of filling they put in these is much more generous than average and the ragu was sooo yummy! I’d also recommend the Norma!
Some arancine are amazing, others - nothing special. It would be good to have a list called "best seller" or something similar. It would be useful to people like us who try arancina for first time in their life

Third attempt to eat something anything in this city! I tried ke palle due to the big number of reviews! Terrible low quality arachine fried in burned smelly oil! If you come from a country with decent cuisine avoid at all cost! Leave this tourist trap for nations with no cuisine and their standards are low! I am sure northern Italians would not recommend this place! (And no rude owner , I meant Palermo and I meant your overvalued shop - see photos and videos for proof )

A bit off the beaten tourist track, and hidden away behind a fairly simple facade with no tables outside, this wonderful restaurant is hidden away. We only went there because it was recommended by our fabulous hostess and were not disappointed. The interior is simple, but "old style" comfortable. We were served promptly, friendly and efficiently. Since they have many tables to serve it might seem a bit too quick at times but we had no problem with that. We had a mixed platter of antipasti and were a bit confused when only a small plate with some fried veggies and pork pieces arrived. The confusion resolved a minute later when the other parts of the antipasti came 😁 Plenty and very good. For main courses we picked squid and eggplant involtini. We enjoyed both dishes a lot, as well as the wine that was recommended by the staff. If you plan to go, best make a reservation.
A brilliant find, away from the centre. A simple restaurant with great service, a nice atmosphere and good value for money. The swordfish pasta was the best I'd had in Sicily and the cassata was lovely too. There were a lot of locals and Italians dining there too which says a lot. High recommended!
Delicious Sicilian specialties, a restaurant owned by two brothers. Very friendly and welcoming service and fresh, high quality and tasty food - definitely a spot not to miss in Palermo! I also loved the syrah. Thank you for the great dinner and the complimentary treats :)
off the usual touristic path but so worth it. local cuisine, the stuffed squid was amazing. the service is efficient as they literally run left and right that it s hard to get a hold of them 😜. excellent prices.
A very good selection of Sicilian dishes, with an opportunity (well worth taking) of trying out a range of different appetisers. Excellent pasta, decent dessert. Trattoria level prices (so 20€ and upwards for a full meal). Recommended.
The nero pasta is the best pasta I’ve eaten. The service is very good. Seafood is fresh :) it’s a bit pricey than other restaurants but It’s good 😊
This restaurant is hidden in Palermo but I recommend it if you want to try typical and tasty Sicilian food. The place is full of history. We had pasta alla norma and pasta with pesto & pistachio which were really good. The service was one of the best I have ever had in Sicily: the owners were so welcoming and nice! If you're looking for authenticity, that's where you should go.
It was good, but nothing exceptional. The stuffed calamari was nice. The bread was a bit dry.
Helpful staff, great tasting food and a decent price. Got a mixed starter which was great and lovely squid stuffed with almonds.
With a simple, unassuming facade, Trattoria Ai Cascinari treats guests to delicious meals. We had pasta with tuna and swordfish, swordfish steak, and delicious sworfish involtini with pistacchio and almonds. We finished with a cassata siciliana for the ages. Mille grazie.

Il Culinario is an Italian restaurant with a coastal theme, located in an informal district of . The service is kind and respectful, and the food is excellent. The pizza is especially good, and the seafood sampler is interesting and daring.

We were walking on the streets on the very first day. Even though it was late, we got a table, the service was really kind and respectful. Perfect pizza and delicious sea food. Highly recommended. Big thumbs up to the owner's son who showed us the place - I also recommend Prime Pub. Even got a really nice taste of a local aperitif! Adored it.
Very good food including some street food items on the menu. Had the small fried pizzas with raw shrimp on them and they were excellent and not too much to eat. Just the right amount. Service was very good too. Can recommend this place when in Palermo.
The pizza - whoa. We ordered the Culinero - spicy salami with tomato and pesto sauce. Should’ve ordered another. Ordered the seafood sampler which was good and a nice adventurous take for us. Service was great - very sweet and helpful. Also helped us out when it came to the bill.
They have added 5 stars under their name, and they deserve them! We shared a delicious Sicilian antipasto, followed by paccheri alla Norma, tagliatelle al pistacchio and a minestrone. All excellent ! The cannolo for desert was freshly made and I have never had it better! Great cocktails. Recommended
The food was very good. We had some traditional antipasto and it was great. The waiters were very hospitable and willing to help you choose something to like. You have to book a table, otherwise it is possible to find nothing available.
Nice place, good food but a bit overpriced. The seafood appetizer on the photo is 22€ (that’s net including arancini)… And limoncello added to the bill at 3.5€, which used to be nonsense in Italy - but times seem to have changed since Covid, which is sad.
If I could rate this place 10 stars I would do so. The pasta was so good I almost swallowed my tongue, the pizza was indescribably delicious. This is authentic Sicily. Everything from the friendly service to the authentic experience, this is one of the best places we have visited in palermo. Don't just walk here, run here. You will thank me later.
We had pepper mussels for our appetizer. Husband had pasta with mussels, clams and shrimp. I had swordfish with tomatoes and capers. All were delicious! Service was very patient with our lack of Italian! Food was prompt.
