One of a kind art treasure. Countless details. Educate yourself about it before you go and you will get much more from the time controlled experience. Do buy tickets on line ahead. Time slots do fill up. No ticket, no visit.
An emotional place. The chapel is beautiful, with dozens of paintings filling the walls. The story of Jesus is displayed poetically, and you can feel the emotion on display. There's a short video that staff make you watch for context before entering. Price is high but worth it.
Fantastic! Reservations are required well in advance, as visitors are limited, due to climate controlled environment. You will be given a time for your reservation, and don't be late. Giotto's masterpieces are from the 1300's and were early influences on renaissance art. Padua and the Scrovegni Chapel are not to be missed.
Very unique place with inner weather control. So you need to reserve ticket beforehand and be there on time. Small lbout 25 meter per 7 Chapel with marvellous paintings.
Visit to Padua won't be complete without visiting Scrovegni Chapel. The frescoes by Giotto are over 700 years old and very well preserved. Gitto is believed to be the father of the Renaissance, and through his stunning artwork, we will appreciate how he moved away from prevalent Byzantine style and developed the idea of Renaissance Humanism. The other masterpiece he designed is the bell tower, known as the Giotto's Campanile in Florence.
Must-see in Padova - chapel with famous Giotto paintings. We didn't book/buy tickets in advance (in June), but woman at the ticket office was very helpful and found tickets for us, we could enter in 45minutes. Must be on time in front of chapel, otherwise you could not enter. Visit consists of 15min video presentation and 15 min visit of chapel. Even our teenagers were impressed.
I friend from Padova advised us this was a must place to visit. The frescos where beautiful. Make reservations in advance.
This is the highlight of our trip to Italy. An incredible place and it truly gives you a sense of wonder and awe. They do hassle you in and out though and 15 minutes seems like such a small amount of time.
The major masterpiece of Giotto. Integral vision of the historical sequence of events. Realistic style, revolutionary for his times. Emotions on the faces are done really truly. It is not by coincidence he is compared to Dante. They both born with a difference of a couple of years made revolutions in Italian art: Giotto in painting and Dante in literature.
We arrived quite early and showed the staff at the museum our tickets but the lady just told us her shift ends soon and her colleague will come soon which didn’t happen. They also started the video introduction before every visitor sits down so we missed the beginning.
With Giotto being the first ever to introduce such a beautiful sky colour and to embody the first ever kiss in the history of arts, one cannot but marvel his stunning frescoes dating back to the 14th century - it's a must-see when in Padua! 😊
Espectacular experience and worth seeing. But, be prepared, the explanation video is in Italian with English subtitles, so if you don't know either it's practically useless... Calculate that once inside you have almost 15min, then you must leave. It's small so they organise and control the number of visitors. The museum was nice, but the majority of it, 80%, was just explained in Italian. So if you don't know your art and there's no one to explain it could become boring. You MUST be super punctual, and calculate at least arriving 15min earlier. You must put your things in a locker and the entrance is a bit far from the chapel. As for getting the tickets, I advise using a computer to do it. It's complicated and time consuming. TIP, the name doesn't matter. One person can purchase all the tickets under the same name.

One of the largest temples I have seen before. Gorgeous finishes inside, statues, frescoes, stained glass windows. The tomb of St. Anthony inside is a place of worship for locals and thousands of tourists. It's just a MUSEUM! Entrance is controlled, you can not enter in shorts or sleeveless.
It's pretty impressive from the architecture point of view to the relics you can find inside. What I can complain is that you are not allowed to take pictures inside (even without a flash) and I can't really understand why. It was a nice experience to visit one time, but most probably I won't return in the future. It's one of those, one time experience.
A beautiful cathedral featuring many historical relics. Came here while we were in Padua for an afternoon and spent a couple of hours here. It’s free to enter. There’s a few street parking spots that you pay via machine. No cameras are allowed. There’s a museum where you can explore (for a fee). I suggest spending at least a couple of hours here to take in the beauty. There is a livestream of a certain section, which is delineated by signs. Holy water is sold here for 1.50 euros per bottle. The restroom is available for 0.5 euros. There is a souvenir shop.

This place is huge. Large number of domes and a vast interior made this place a must visit. Though photography is prohibited, all the locals take photos inside. I was really amazed by the gothic architecture and is very similar to churches in Germany. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Had a wonderful blessed opportunity to visit St. Antony life. Lot of meaningful paintings. Artworks are like out of this world art. And his Holy relics were available to see and to pray. If you seek peace and happiness I believe you will find it here.
I've seen probably 200+ churches in my life in different countries, but this one left me totally speechless. It is for sure one of the most beautiful churches in whole Europe. The details and rich architecture are absolutely breath-taking. A true gem
The Saint Antonio was born in Lisbon and died in Padova. So, for me it was a special moment having the chance to visit this beautiful place. I only went to the Basilica and the mess.
It is a huge basilica and well preserved. The carvings, frescoes and paintings inside are fascinating. You can see the relics and the tomb of St. Anthony. If you are visiting Venice, you should definitely visit the basilica in Padova, which is very close by.

Beautiful Basilica, the art work of everything is unbelievable, we didn’t plan to get since we were only pass by in Padua to go to Venice, nevertheless I think we were really blessed having the opportunity to go there. The all the churches I’d visited this one is the most to transmit a real feeling of peace and faith. I am really thankful for being there. Booking is not necessary. Dress code required.

Just amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed the park with all the architectures, the water body and the lush greenery. Best part is vehicles are not allowed close to the park, so one can stroll across it and enjoy great times. Highly recommended if you are in Padova.
A beautiful place for enjoy the time with friends between a coffee and a book. The particularity of this place is the huge dimension, the variety of statue they have and the location. This is (correct me if I wrong) the most large and big square in Europe. Cool !!
An amazing urban plaza in the city of padova. A must see. You may enter from the north and while you pass through cute and spectacular alleys of the old town . Take a rest in the grass and then walk around the square alongside the colonnades to find impressive views towards the central open space. It is great that cars do not have access to the plaza and it provides a safe playground specifically for children.
The " Prato della Valle " square is one of the biggest in Europe and is something unique and really nice , simply unmissable if you are in Padua. In the center an elliptical canal with 78 statues and 4 for bridges leading to the central lawn. Carpark in the adjacent Rabin square with entance in " 58° Reggimento Fanteria Brigata Abruzzi " street but it can be full in peak hours it has an indipendent entrance for campers and bus
One of the most beautiful places in Padova! This piazza is rich in history and a simple walk around allows you to discover incredible buildings, ancient stories, and the bustling life of the city. A big and newly renovated parking place and supermarket are placed on one side of the piazza, making for easy access. Beautiful place to start your way into the Padova city center!

Padova is a small, laid-back, non touristy town with great history, and it's a great central place as a stop over between Venice and Bologna* another awesome non touristy city. Bologna , the food capital of Italy. 😁
On a beautiful day with a gelato....heaven. I understand there's a market held here on a Saturday so it's then very busy.
During the summer, the square is alive with large numbers of visitors who skate, stroll or study while tanning themselves in the sun. Every New Year's Day, and during the Feast of the Annunciation in mid August, parties with music and fireworks take place in the Prato. It is a place where you can take a rest with your friends and love ones. It's fun to hang around.
Very suggestive place. Amazing very spacial design, bringing together art (with a lot of statues all around the square), water and green field in the central part. Many beautiful building standing all around the square. Would love to see it a bit more clean.
Public parking area is close by and it is easy to access. The Prato della Valle is a great starting point for walking around Padova and is close to the Botanical Gardens, the Basilica, and many other famous landmarks. We visited on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the people watching.
Nice area to bike, stale and walk in. There is a fountain and a 2 euro a go ride for the kids nearby. I would say avoid the ice cream place on the corner as it’s very expensive compared to shops in the town where the locals go… note this is one of the only places where you can buy magnets / postcards etc… as the main town doesn’t have any tourist shops.

The University of Padua Botanical Garden is a very old and prestigious garden that contains over 3,500 species of plants. It is a peaceful and quiet place to enjoy nature, even if you are not particularly interested in plants.

We took a side trip to Padua and ran into the botanical garden by accident. It was an absolutely delightful surprise. It has the best green house I have ever visited. The garden houses so many specie of plants with many that I saw for the very first time and may not see them again. Well worth the 10 euro admission.
I wanna be honest with the garden, if you don’t have a very goos knowledge in herbal medicine, probably you’ll get a little bit bored but anyway : if you have it, this is a Must View as you’ll learn a lot and can confront almost 2500 types of different plants. So yeah. The missing of an audio guide rend the explore of the place so hardly.
This place is a must if you are in Padova. 10€ for entrance, discount if you are a student. You can really enjoy the serenity of diverse plants from all over the world. Just sitting on a bench brings so much peace. There is also a small interractive museum inside. And of course don't miss "La palma di Goethe" and the story behind it. Really a wonderful place, enjoyed every minute.
Wonderful! You should take at least two hours for this beautiful and interesting park. Don’t wait for last minutes before closure as it gets a bit dark. It was perhaps hotter in the closed part of the park (green house) in the afternoon compared to morning hours. Next time I would rather visit it in the morning. We are family of four and we payed just 20 eur as it was free for children under 13.
We enjoyed seeing the Botanical Gardens but it was definitely focussed on the University and students for education. They have pretty strict rules regarding pets. They are not allowed, only service animals. One worker was quite strict with my son who just happened to be running down one of the paths about 10 meters in front of me. She told him to stop running and I don't put up with that. He was not harming anything or even touching anything. We go to every botanical garden we can and this was the first one where we felt watched. Profit based botanical gardens are better than university Botanical gardens. In my humble opinion. The history of place was cool. We appreciated the break from the scorching heat. Thank you to HEX Crypto for making this trip possible.
Super expensive, considering the preservation of the place. It's sad for someone who loves biodiversity to visit such a poorly-preserved place. We found a lot of plants full of ants, around 5 asian hornets (they not only eat bees, but are also dangerous for humans), thirsty plants and so on.
As part of the trip to the University and museum I visited the gardens. A really lovely place just to enjoy peace and quiet and nature even if you are not particularly green fingered.
Wonderful botanical garden, one of the oldest in the world. Great curation and arrangement. -The tropical section of the greenhouses has a well designed two tier system where you can really appreciate the size of the trees. - look out for their understated cactus collection! You can find some in the “maze” garden section near the center. - lots of discounts available for students, seniors etc so check when you’re buying tickets. Well worth checking out if you want to spend a quieter day in Padua.

A very pleasant place during the boiling summer weather with refreshing tiny fountains where you can sit down and relax while contemplating the marvellous surroungings. The interactive exhibition is a great fun for children and adults as well.
I enjoyed my weekend there, very calming place, natural beauty 🫶🏻 At 18.00pm we had to leave , there was also kinda museum inside you can explore. It took about 3 hours for us to explore this beautiful place.

The palace is filled with statues, paintings and frescoes from the Middle Ages. It also has a food market on the ground floor and cafes and bars on the upper floors. The palace is a symbol of Padua and was the seat of city courts until 1797.

Palazzo della Ragione is a must see, a miraculous place painted with beautiful frescoes. The beautiful Palazzo della Ragione it was a place for medieval market hall, town hall and palace of justice building. The upper floor was dedicated to the town and justice administration, while the ground floor still hosts the historical cover market of the city. The Palace divides the two so-called "twin-squares", picturesque Piazza della Frutta and Piazza delle Erbe, where still today the market takes place as in the Middle Ages. The palace was built at the beginning of the 13th century and originally served as a court building in Padua. Along the open loggia on both sides are many dealers and around both squares we can experience daily market activity. All day on Saturdays and during the week in the morning, merchants exposing their wares here. The huge market around the Palazzo della Ragione is one of the biggest in northern Italy, and again reflects well the former glory of the free trading city of Padua. Inside the Palazzo della Ragione, a number of shops and stores are located on the ground floor. The large and magnificent hall on the first floor is completely painted with astrological and religious frescoes from the 15th century and is often used for exhibitions. Originally dedicated to the commerce of a wide selection of food, clothes, spices and jewels, it is today mostly active in the food and beverage sector. Another sight to visit in the palace is the "stone of shame" that once stood outside the courthouse and on which debtors were humiliated.
A great view of the square from second floor and the hall is big with beautiful frescos and a large wooden horse. You can listen to English introduction by scanning a qr code and downloading an app.
One of most antique gourmet food shopping center in the world in the ground floor with the government medieval saloon on the first floor now Museum. The Palazzo della Ragione is a medieval market hall, town hall and palace of justice building in Padua, in the Veneto region of Italy.
While the hall is big, the wooden horse is huge, the wall paintings about zodiac signs are interesting, that's all about it. If you look closer, the actual wall paintings are no longer original, it was completely destroyed and repainted multiple times in history, the current paintings were done a couple of decades ago, their artistic value simply cannot compete with the original paintings of the past. Another annoyance is the lack of English description in the great hall, all the presentations are in Italian only.
This is a magnificent place... very similar to Palladio's Basilica in Vicenza, yet quite something else, considering the fact that it preserves all the stages of its extensions, and it is not tributary to any "superior architectural style". It is medieval in all its aspects, especially because of its eclectic aura. Also, the frescoes in the great hall are well preserved, while the monumental wooden horse is a piece to add even more enchantment and peculiarity to the vast room and its wooden roof. I visited the Palazzo with the ocassion of the exhibition on italian architect Aldo Rossi, "Aldo Rossi e la Ragione". I have to say that the exhibited pieces (drawings, sletches, models, objects) couldn't have stood better in another place... especially when we consider the fact that, for Aldo Rossi, the Palazzo was, what he would call, an archetypal "fatto urbano" par excellence.
Visiting Palazzo della Ragione is just mind blowing. There is so much to see, so much beauty and detail. I felt like a kid in a sweet shop.
Secret Enclosed. I absolutely fell in love with this building. There is so much to see in this giant building. The roof has been rebuilt twice due to disasters. I really liked hunting for the zodiac frescos respresenting my families symbols. Secret revealed, find the sun with the hole in the middle. Once per day the sun lines up perfectly and shines on the ley lines which are marked on the floor. Thank you HEX Crypto for making this possible.

The best restaurant in Padova to taste tartar, Fiorentina - the best meat, and not only. The owner serves himself, which makes it even more tasty and interesting. Would recommend for 100%. It's a must visit.

Oh. It was one of the best meat I tried in my life. I have ordered the La Tagliata del Falconiere. Was there already two times. Each time the meat was great. Risotto with truffles also unbelievable. Huge selection of wines. You may skip the tiramisu:)
We managed to get a table even without booking it in advance. Loved the authenticity of the place. Althpugh it seems to be especially loved for its meet we had a mushroom risotto and enjoyed it a lot! Great service and lovely to see the owner preparing the meat - this was and extra experience.
Very good food, staff is very welcoming and helpful, the only critic may be that the portion of the main course 'La Tagliata del Falconiere', for the price it is on, I have found it a bit pricy.
A warm welcome every time we go, friendly and always pleased to see you. The food is everything you could imagine, especially if you like meat. The tagliata di carne miste is a show in the way it arrives at your table, worth it just for this. This place is well worth the visit. Excellent as always but recommend you book as it does get busy, there are always people looking for a table.
Tagliatelle al pesto a bit disappointing( the sauce), tartar was underseasoned, but we enjoyed the ambiance and the staff was helpful and nice. Drinks were also really good 👍

Fantastic meal and some excellent wine. We were warmly greeted by our host Frederico whose English was excellent and the family quickly bonded over Rugby and his time in England. He recommended several local wines which we were offered tasters of before choosing. We had a broad range of dishes all of which were very tasty. I would definitely recommend this venue to anyone visiting the area - our best Italian culinary experience of our trip so far. Sorry, I only have a photo of the burger which, while delicious, doesn’t do the rest of the meal justice.
I went to have dinner and was disastrous. Firstly, when the tall waitress tells in 20 mins, the kitchen closes, so he almost kicks you out in the door. I understand but then set the kitchen 2 hours BEFORE closing. Once inside, zero help to order. Food came, and honestly,....very normal. Wine was served warm, a 53€ Barolo bottle (had to ask to be chilled), but at least the sommelier she was smiling. Final killer, the bill. They are charging 5 euros to sit. Holy cow!! Indeed, and of course, nothing to the waitresses. Never ever again, attitude and spirit is just wrong. Food again is very average. Don't waste your money here. There are many better!

This is either a gourmet food products shop and a restaurant. You basically sit within food and products shelves. But it has a style and the service is really good. The waiter came often to ask us how our food was and it was delicious! The also have a large selection of local and national wine plus a lot of produces from all the regions of Italy. The bill is not very cheap but considering the quality of the food not expensive either. I think this is one of the best places in town.
We stayed in Padova for three nights and visited here twice. It is a really relaxed dining experience with a beautiful interior. The walls are lined with high quality deli products that you can buy, the tables are really comfortable, the toilets very clean and there is an open kitchen at the end where you can see the chefs working. The staff were very welcoming. They gave us a table promptly without having a booking, their menu was in English and they spoke in English to us. We ordered steak and they cooked it perfectly. We also had mixed grilled vegetables and a salad side dish, both of which were very generous portions. The size of the steak was huge for the €24 price. It was larger than the size I can buy in the supermarket in the UK for the same price and the quality of the fillet was very good. We had a glass of valpolicella which was exceptional and only €6 for a glass. We also were given a generous basket of bread as part of the cover charge. There was no service charge added. The next day we returned and had the octopus and potato dish and a crab pasta, both of which were really good. We had a dessert of pears soaked in red wine with chocolate pannecotta and salted caramel. It was one of the best desserts I have ever had. We also had their artisan coffee, one from Brasil and one from Guatemala. The cost for our lunch including gin and wine for two people was €47. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in Padova and want a high quality, informal dining experience.

When abroad, I'm always after quality streetfood as nothing gives you the vibe of a city as a nice food counter. Well, La Folperia deserves the title of the best street food I've ever tasted! The octopus was so fresh and tender it melts in your mouth. All of the seafood (shrimps, tuna ball, etc) that we bought were up to upmarket restaurant quality ( I dare say even better). The guys were super friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I have already recommended La Folperia to all of my friends visiting Padova.
One of the best places I have ever eaten octopus in my life. The current owners - the kids of the previous owner - have been serving the city for the last 25 yrs. I will give it 5 stars if there were a little bit more space to enjoy the food around there. The do have a small counter but it's so busy that is nearly impossible to eat there on the spot. It's a small food stall under the arches of the main Piazza della Frutta, so when it's freezing outside it's not ideal but the fish is soo good, that you try to forget about it. The prices vary as it goes by weight. Only downside is that there's very little place to eat it there, although if you buy drinks from the next door bar you can stand there and they have some small tables.
Maybe in the past it was an authentic and tasty street food? Now its just a hype. Boiled baby octopus was tender and thats all. Cuttlefish brochette had unpleasant taste and except octopus you will have all your food heated in microwave. Dressing which they pour over everything do not have particular character.
It’s okay. If you live in the inlands this could be amazing but I had better octopus when I grew up next to the Pacific.
Encouraged by the positive reviews of this place, I ordered their famous octopus and was disappointed by it’s taste (had a way better octopus in other places). I also found it a bit overpriced . Maybe other seafood snacks would be better, but not sure if I want to give another try
We were just walking around near Piazza della Frutta when we saw La Folperia was opened. We had wanted to try it for a long time since they are a pretty famous streetfood vendor in Padova and we finally did! There was already a little crowd when we arrived around 6pm and people kept coming. The owners were also friendly and worked fast to serve the customers. We tried the folpetti, the typical dish from Veneto. The folpetti was €5 per 100g and we spent €7.3 for a baby octopus🐙 and a piece of bread🥖 (not really good for students' wallet but it's seafood and students want to eat seafood too once in a while🤷). I never ate an octopus before but it was good. The octopus was fresh and it didn't smell fishy. The green sauce was perfect, not too strong that you can't taste the octopus (I did scarpetta!). The taste was dominated by the olive oil and the lemon juice🍋 I like that the lemon juice gave a bit sourness so it tasted fresh. Overall, I think it's worth to try!
Ok - you HAVE TO GO if you like seafood. Simple, delicious street food vendor in a beautiful piazza... grab some Prosecco at one of the bars and enjoy! A Padova must.
I was waiting all week to sample an octopus. It sadly wasn’t there on any weekday (despite Google showing evening opening), and I was starting to think I’d miss it. Thankfully come Saturday there it was next to Bar dei Osei in Piazza della Frutta. Well worth the wait. The boiled octopus with salsa verde was delicious and the kids loved the fried squid, prawns and other treats. The big balls are fab too - no idea what they are though! 😋 🐙
If you like seafood you will love this place! Prawn/Shrimps, seafood salad and the very best little octopus in Padova!

Well if you're looking for a truly authentic, rustic Italian experience look no further. This is venetos history in a meal. The absolute best gnocchi in the world, i do suggest to order them plain and try all of the sauces they are to die for. The boiled and roasted meats are the real highlight but don't think the menu is any less. The baccalà is my favorite, better than any I've tried personally. This has been family owned for generations and it shows, things are still done like the good old days and the prices are fair. A must try when in padova!
Great food and atmosphere!
Ten years ago I visited this restaurant whose name I forgot, today I accidentally came across a plan with the name! So this is one of the few and special restaurants That I have left in permanent memory! I was fascinated by the way the servants and the choice of food. I'd definitely like to go back there one day.
The palace is ancient. But you are at your home. In any time of the past it is located, you feel good. And taste some amazing food. Really nice experience. To be tested.
This is the best food I have had in Italy. Everything was magnificent from service to food to ambience. No fuss and only the best of everything. Wines were perfect. If you are in Padua and you want the very best of Italian food and service then you won't get any better than this.
Tasty pasta and amazing deserts, but overall atmosphere was not suiting to me. Anyway, it's a good place.
It has been a wonderful experience. Typical Veneto food with much attention even to small details. Lovely ambience and friendly staff, especially Giorgia. Highly recommended!

Excellent food, some of the best we had during our travels in Italy. Gnocchi and asparagus soufflé starters and mains (beef, fresh tuna) were excellent. Small, intimate place. Felt very local. English spoken. Make a reservation if you can! We had no reservation when we showed up and luckily they had one table left. It was possibly the worst table in the place (espresso machine next to our heads, front door on the other side of us) but the service and food were so good we didn’t notice (thanks Elena, you did an excellent job).
If you are looking for dinner that will blow your mind. You don't have to look for it any more because I found the place for you. Here you can taste the most delicious food and beautiful food in all the world. There is the sticker in front of the door that NASA recommends this place, it isn't true, this is the place where NASA was created.
Wife, son and I just had the last dinner of our holiday in Germany and Italy and this meal was probably the best. This small restaurant, with its short regional menu and wonderful owners and staff, was a delight from start to finish. Excellent fresh local cuisine prepared with care and friendly service was just what we hoped for. Judging by the mostly local families and couples here, this is a much loved establishment. We are thankful for the experience and recommend it to others!
A very niche experience not for everyone. The food was excellent, and the service very good. The classic dishes I imagine are not for all but what we had was cooked perfectly. The only issue is the menu which is accessed by a QR code, its not very descriptive and the translation option needs improving, but the staff are very helpful and patient in helping and know the dishes well as you'd expect.
The sweetest service and amazing food. I had braised pork cheek over polenta and it was to die for. We had a reservation but they weren't able to seat us right away so they gave us prosecco and made up a table in the entryway until a better er spot opened up. Felt like family and it was all supreme 💗
We came here twice - one for the lasagna and once for the gnocchi. Both were very good, there are gluten and lactose free options that are meat based. The tiramisu was excellent and large. Good quality / price ration and rapid service.
Typical restaurant of famous dishes of Veneto in Padova centre! The restaurant is very small but they were super nice to arrange a table for us even though we haven't booked before. Dishes were typical from the region cooked in typical recipes, so if ur looking to have a taste of Veneto, I recommend it! And the dessert is very very good! Homemade with great taste!
Nice characteristic osteria in the town center. It can get really busy during lunch time so make sure you make your way early. Worth to try the sarde in saor, although some of the main dishes were a bit too simple.
