Wow, wow, wow. Excellent castle visit to the Imperial Castle. Located at the top of a hill, overlooking the city of Nuremberg, the Imperial Castle is reached after a serious climb uphill. Not difficult for the fully able ,it is a long rather arduous slog up to the courtyard. *******,Handicap VERY difficult , if not impossible, not made any easier by the cobblestone road .*********( that said, I did see a gentleman with a walker!!!) The museum entry is 7 Euros, 6 if you are a senior or a student. Wow----super excellent presentation and displays of the medieval history of this castle 🏰. Armaments, armor, clothing, artifacts, explanations and visuals were superb. One of the best. Great value for the money!!!! Restaurant in the courtyard BEST VIEWS OF NUREMBERG. PHOTO OP ++++++!!!!!! Quite a beautiful little castle. Really great museum. Would recommend getting the combination ticket as the view from the top of the tower is really great and the deep well tour is quite a different experience. They also got a couple of eateries on site.

It was amazing to visit this imperial castle of Nuremberg. The constructions were protected with 3 layered thick wall with around 10 ft thickness and 2 stages of different heights. The tunnels, the rooms, the towers, the gardens, the dungeons, the underground pathways designs and the city view points were awesome to see. I felt like I entered in the Game of Thrones series.

This iconic castle is likely more interesting from the outside than the inside. Due to destruction during WWII, most of the interiors are redone as a museum. The anvient weapons and armor displays are nice. Climbing up the tower was fun and offers great views. The deep well guided tour was the best part thanks to the enthusiastic and engaging guide.

Amazing place and lots of tours to take. This has a great history and the Old Town is filled with attractions and old buildings, churches, hospital and nice walks. The castle is historic and you can get breathtaking views. I took a few great pics.

Less stairs in the tower than St. Augustine’s Light house (St. Augustine, Florida USA). Beautiful piece of history- we spent the afternoon! A must see- most of the displays information is in German- spring for the audio it’s worth it!!

Very impressive castle. A capital of European Kings from 11 till 16 centuries. Place where Holy Roman empire was ruled from. Building itself is really big on the top of the hill. Views around are amazing. Very strongly recommended!

Historical landmark & museum with commanding views out across the city. This is a must visit attraction if you’re in the city and would like to know about its foundation. Excellent exhibits, some interactive with translations available. Has a reasonably priced cafe and some gardens for relaxing in too. It can be a bit of a slog getting up the hill though. There may be accessible ways to get there that I did t see.

Great views of the old city from here. There’s a nice cafe and gift shop at the top. It’s worth the walk up for the views and the way back down is dotted with great places to eat and drink. Definitely recommend this if you’re in town.

Nice place for photos, near by u have a lake to spend some time with family. Museum is 6eur per head, if u have interest to know why and what is documentation center created u can visit. 4 eur to park the car.. u can drive directly into the center.

A very interesting place. Very informative displays. Visited as part of a walk around the entire site (which took a good couple of hours) I would have rated it higher if it hadn’t been a temporary exhibition. Compared to the similar Document Centre we visited in Munich (which was free, this one wasn’t) there was far more information available.

The Dokuzentrum offers a really interesting look into WW2 history. I would really recommend going there if you're in Nürnberg

Looks like it's having a major overhaul (Oct 22) so the interim exhibition is not much to look at. The building and structure is pretty amazing though. Look forward to visiting again when it's all done.

Though currently under construction/refurbishment, it was still a good visit. Inside the museum there were a lot of displays covering the timeline and usage of the area since its inception to present day as well as memoirs and excerpts from historical documents. The walk around the really grounds was nice and the Zeppelin Grandstand was particularly impactful.

I've been here 5 years ago and I loved it! I went back a week ago and didn't really like it cause they are under construction so they arranged one only big room where you can read about the Nazi Rally Party and see pictures about it, still interesting tho.

Such an immersive experience back through time, honoring not just the artist and the time period he represents, but which also examines how he has affected subsequent generations and art forms. Our children got a great crash course on the "first graphic artist," and we adults enjoyed learning details we hadn't known before, making this an ideal stop for beginners and art buffs alike. Entry fees are very reasonable--even students and backpackers can afford this--and the gift shop across the street offers easily transportable memories to take home. Kids get a little "voucher" to claim a "gift" at the end of the self led tour, a postcard at the gift shop. The audio tour is included in the entry cost and is easy to operate. Photos are allowed everywhere except the top floor where they have original Dürer prints on display. Small children will not enjoy this. Recommend 12 and up.

A must for the history or art lover in Nürnberg. Anyone who has spent time inan aet museum will recognize Albrecht Dürer. The fact that Nürnberg has managed to preserve the Dürer family house is amazing. The museum itself appears to be more geared to history in the period during his life rather than the art.

A must see place if you visit Nuremberg. They have done a wonderful job here and show his studio where he worked as well as showed many of the processes he used to produce the work that he made. It was quite an education adventure and I really enjoyed seeing the curated items around the house with a wonderful audio guide to listen to it. I wish we had more time but our trip was short and I could definitely come back and visit this place again.

You will learn a lot about Durer and the time period when he lived in Nurnberg. Also, the history of the museum’s establishment was interesting, recommend for art and history lovers

Okay I am a big Albrecth Durer fan, so for me this was a fascinating trip around the house of the master. A lot of effort has been put into getting a small museum right. I found the staff quite helpful.

Glad I went as I admire his genius. Disappointed there are no original works present, except perhaps one.

Probably one of my favorite museums I've visited. If you're a fan of Dürer this is a must visit. It's just a shame that there wasn't alot of his original works. The staff was very friendly and the audiotour was informative. It's nice that they did have some copy's of his work so that you do get an idea of the masterpieces he created. The building itself is very fascinating as well.

Fabulous! Simply fabulous! The museum was amazing for historical artifacts and research. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Seeing Courtroom 600 was amazing!

Very nice monument. We visited it on 1.5., so maybe that was the reason of not many people there. You can learn a lot about the trial, but also other things connected to the war crimes. I can recommend for a stop on your route, you can do it in 1 hour.

A thought provoking facility with a lot of useful information and exhibits. One can still feel the energy from years prior. This will remain an important part of human history. There ia so much to experience in the museum.

It's definitely interesting to see the venue of the Nuremberg trials if you're in the city. But you can only see the courtroom and another room with a looot of information, not much more further objects, rooms or prison cells. I would create a 'fast track' circuit so that you don't have to listen to everything in your Audioguide for 2 hours if you're not a history freak but just the basic stuff. The entrance fee of 5 EUR per adult is cheap. But it's a must when in Nuremberg.

Before visiting the courtroom 600, I have visited the documentation centre earlier on the same day. Nobody has ever told us about any discount. On 9 March, at around 4.20pm, we entered the building and walked over to the empty counter. This lady over the counter looked at us and said “yes?”. We told her that we would like to have 2 tickets. She asked if we’re students and we said no. She told us the amount to pay. After paying, I asked her “if we have visited the documentation centre” and she cut me off immediately by replying “how would I know if you had gone to the documentation centre”. We replied that we have a receipt, and she continued to ask “how would I know?. We were freaking taken aback and confused by her attitude and tone because firstly, we didn’t know that there is a discount, secondly, I merely wanted to understand by asking her about it, thirdly, she cut me off before I could even finish my sentence. Seriously it’s just extra 9 euros. It’s no big deal, you don’t have to be so freaking rude. If you don’t want to refund, it’s fine, I don’t really care because I didn’t even know about the discount in the first place. The information on the paper that is taped to the counter was not clear at all. It merely stated “for 3 euros, you have have a day pass blahblahblah”. We told her that we’re just asking a question and she pointed to the paper and said “you already read it”. ??????? If I can understand the information on the god damn paper or if you would have bothered to open your mouth then of course I will not be asking a question. I hope the customer service team will look into the attitude of this staff. This is a tourist location for goodness’ sake. I was very kind and excited to enter the courtroom and swear that I truly did not know about any bloody discount. I do not appreciate this attitude but thanks for the refund of 9 euros.

The zoo itself was really nice, they had a lot of different animals but.. I'm pretty disappointed that all of the information was only in German so I didn't really get anything out of it.. Sadly there weren't any feeding shows at the time of my visit :<

This was my first time visiting a Zoo and I was very impressed! Beautiful variety of animals and they are actually looking happy! The Show with Delphine's also made me tear up of joy ! Just beautiful!

Had amazing time at the zoo. It's so big so many animals to see. Many play grounds their restorants bathrooms and ofcours animals. We spent 3 hours in the zoo you can spend even more. Amazing 😍

Beautiful Zoo situated in a huge park. One day is not even enough to see and experience everything. I cannot choose what was our favourite. The Manatee house is a must, as well as the Dolphin lagoon with dolphins and sea lions swimming together, feeding and show(off)s. On the other end of the park there is a ‘Aquapark’ for penguins, otters, sea lions, seals and polar bears - all visible also from under water through glass walls. On every corner there is a different kind of play ground. Mini-train on one side of the park for small and big kids 😉 Buffet/restaurant on both ends. You can also book a guided tour for a small group to your favourite animal (seasonal and not all animals are included) or a night visit. There is a Kids education center offering courses.

The best zoo I've ever visited. Consider that you need at least half a day to see it all. There is a lot of animals to see, you will spend a lot of time in nature here so it can be a nice family trip. At the entrance you can rent pushchairs for children if they get tired of walking, because you will be walking a lot here

Loved this zoo, animals look healthy and happy. Enclosures favored natural habitat with lots of hiding places rather than open. This does mean you miss some animals as they sleep but to me it is worth it. Easy online tickets and Covid registration. I was through the entrance in less than 15 seconds. Several good options inside. Need it to re-energize after the long hike through the park.

Beautiful Zoo. Pretty empty during weekday (even though the summer holidays had started this week). We really enjoyed the time there. The only negative thing is that the Manatees house was closed (ongoing reconstruction) 😔

For me the menu highlight are the little grilled sausages. You can order as many as you like. The potato salad is also very good. The rest of the menu is traditional dishes. Inside is very old fashioned but nice. During the Christmas market season they have a little hut outside that sells the sausages in a bread roll.

Took a day trip here from Munich, this was the best food we've had since we arrived. The house specialty sausages are delicious and smokey, and it was so fun to sit outside and watch the locals and tourists alike. Waiter was awesome, service was great and all in all this place was a highlight of our trip! Oh and this was the best pretzel we have had in Germany, both crispy yet soft at the same time.

As an tourist I take the shot to have lunch in one of the most popular places of Nürnberg. Honestly the prices, especially for the sausages, are a bit high. Even though it's worth a visit because the taste is wonderful; you really taste the beech wood smoke. The places is well visited, so expect to queue during lunch and dinner time. The interior is looking rough and fits perfectly to what they serve.

Charming restaurant in medieval interior, food is served in stylish dishes also so you'll get soup in a medieval looking cup and meat on a metal plate 😄we had the classic Wurst in Semmel to take away, which are grilled in the centre spot of the restaurant. Staff is very quick and friendly, place is very busy on the weekend so you'll have to wait sometimes. They have also outside seating for nice weather.

It's not the cheapest place for sausages, but they're fresh, the service is great and their outdoor seating has a great view. Their pretzels are also freshly made and they're quite tasty. It is generally full, so do expect a bit of a queue unless you have a reservation.

Absolutely recommended for the famous and authentic Nürember sausages. They have their Special Home made sausages. Good quality, full with flavour that Nürnberger Sausages are known for. And they roast it right in front of you, so it comes smoky hot served in the plate. A very old restaurant with a rich history dated 600 years back. The ambience inside is raw like typical Bavarian restaurants. The wooden tables, the roof tops and the wooden cabins just make it more cozy and warmer. The service is also good. Overall experience was good here.

We have been to this authentic German cuisine restaurant twice while visiting Nuremberg, and we would highly recommend it! It is the most popular German cuisine restaurant in the area for very good reason! We had absolutely amazing meals both times we visited with prompt and friendly service. Their pork shoulder, pork knuckle, brats, and Wiener Schnitzel are probably the best that we have eaten anywhere in the area. They have a huge menu with plenty of choices, so it may be hard to decide or you may have to return multiple times to sample all of their local specialties. Take the time to review the menu online before you visit. The portions are pretty huge, so be prepared by arriving hungry. They are always really busy (which is a good sign), but they have seating inside for almost 600 people, and in the warmer months, plenty of shaded and comfortable outdoor seating. If you choose to visit on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday they have a locally brewed Nuremberg Red barrel beer that you should definitely sample. It has a unique and full flavor that is definitely representative of a Bavarian beer, and it is delicious! Prices are reasonable, too. Wr will definitely keep returning to this restaurant every time we visit Nuremberg!

This place boasts its 600 seat capacity, but it should really boast it's food, because it was amazing. Don't let the name fool you as there is plenty more than bratwurst on offer, which by all accounts are still a very good choice. The Schäufele, roast pork with a cap of crackling, is the dish you'll probably see most often coming from the kitchen, and that's because it's delicious. Wash that down with a traditional Rotbier, and everything is gonna be fine.

Great dinning environment. We ordered half duck and half pork knuckle. The dishes were presented in a good way. However, they didn’t suit my taste. The service was also fair. So I would deduct 2 stars for the food taste and service.

It is a huge place serving traditional Franconian food, well located just around the Hauptmarket. However, due to the waiter it turned out to be our worst experience in Germany. After being seated, we requested for tap water - which was denied; but we realised it seems to be a common practice in Germany. We saw the Christmas platter and the Franconian platter on the menu and decided to order one of the Franconian platter as per our combined appetites. We conveyed the same to our waiter and double checked that we wanted only 1 platter serving, he said “Yes good for 2 persons”. We also ordered a glass of beer. When the platter arrived, it looked inviting but also too big for us. We liked the Schaufele, Roast Duck, Potato Dumplings etc. but after a point we were stuffed. I wanted to get the food packed but we do not have a microwave at the hotel and the reception/room service would be closed by the time of our return- this kind of food would be inedible if eaten cold. With great regret and after eating beyond what we could fit in our stomach we decided to give up and call for the cheque. I apologised to the waiter about wasting food and he just smiled back. When the bill arrived I was shocked to see that we had been charged for 2 platters. No wonder we could only eat 60% of it! I felt angry for not just the 20 euros we were duped of but also the sheer waste of food. It was clear that the waiter exploited us tourists due to language differences. So much for hospitality at Bratwurst Roslein. This really has been the worst experience in the 2 weeks I was in Germany as a tourist and something I would like to forget.

50-50 on the service. Thought we'd get there early (arrived before 6pm), but it took forever just to be given a menu, and after that for the waiters to take our orders. The table we got wasn't cleaned yet, had to ask someone to come and clean it. They're definitely short-staffed. Our waiter, who finally came 30 minutes later, was the only one that was generous in smiling and being polite. The roasted pork shoulder and dessert were really good! The rest was okay.

Me and the missus needed a little snack and drink, and saw this place extremely busy. Naturally we thought this should be a good place. Took a seat outside and had English menus brought to us. I asked for a recommendation of a beer. (Extremely dark) and wow. A fantastic tasting beverage! Also ordered the Apple Fritter dessert, similar to small pancakes accompanied by a pot of apple sauce. All I can say is that it was incredible! Outstanding service from our waiter was a cherry on top. Tip was well deserved.

A fairly good restaurant. It's a tourist spot but the dishes are well served, the food is well prepared and with good flavours. The price is good (dishes between 19 and 30). The original Nuremberg sausages are delicious. We can choose to eat them with potato salad, radish or Sauerkraut. The Pork Knuckle is a well done pork meat with a crunchy top served with a ball of potato mush and beer sauce. For desert we tried the apple strudel served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Delicious.

Great local food and beer in a lovely outdoor beer garden. Friendly helpful staff and a great selection of food and drinks with big portions, English spoken and English menu available too which is great. Daily specials too, great place to enjoy the tasty local Rotbier!

To have typical German food in Nürnberg, this is, for sure, the place to go. Nice menu with many options to enjoy traditional food. Great service even if you are a large group. I really enjoyed it, it felt authentic.

We dined in there for the first time to celebrate my husband’s birthday! I made reservation for lunch. Best Italian restaurant ever in Germany so far we dined. We have been having bad memories by bad and poor customer service in Germany so we always regret spend money go outside and eat. BUT, this restaurant was different! Starting from the warm greeting!! This restaurant is THE BEST!! The food was amazing, waiter and waitress were polite and super friendly with smile!! We had a great birthday meal! We will definitely dine here again next time!!

Really nice authentic Italian family run restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation if you want to go because it’s away full. The owners are very friendly and staff are nice too. We all ordered from the specials menu but they also have pizzas for a very reasonable price. The quality vs price is very fair (if not even a bargain for Nuremberg). All the food was very good and overall experience was great. Highly recommend coming here if you feel like Italian food but be sure to make a reservation in advance.

Legit restaurant with solid food and specials galore. Service (5 stars un and of itself) is outstanding (attentive servers dressed well...even wiping off the condensation on the table from our cold drinks). Atmosphere is cozy close, prices are reasonable (accepts card). I am sorry I was too full for dessert. This is a great place for a proper meal either before/after flying in/out. Our highlight was the pizza of all things.

Another neat place to eat in Nuremberg. Food is amazing! We ate upstairs on the enclosed rooftop area. Very quaint. The roof was closed but I would imagine it is awesome when it is warmer outside. Service is very attentive and super friendly. We were offered homemade limoncello shooters for the road. Not many places do that and it just makes you feel like family. Highly recommend if you are in the area

Tomato soup was way to salty and we had to return it. In few minutes we got back the really good one. Also the tagliata was very good! 👌

Pizza was superdelicious and full of flavor, fresh dough and other ingrediants. Tiramisu was tasty, however for my preferences it could have been more moist and lady fingers could have been soaked in coffee more. Overall great italian cousine experiance, i would recommend.

Pork shoulder skin is crispy and meat is soft so I voted for this plate. Sausages are typical like another places. For onion soup, I prefer to have stronger taste. My friend seems to enjoy her wedding soup. Fish fillet is crispy and taste good as well because the outside fried is not too thick. Service is good. They have English menu.

When in Nuremberg you must try this spot! I had the pork shoulder (on two different occasions ;)) and let me tell you that this is one meal you will be remembering for a long time. Served with a potato dumpling and sauerkraut. So filling I didn’t have room for desert.

What a gem. The hosts were warm and wonderful, the atmosphere and decor were authentic to the region, from floor to ceiling and everything in between. The dishes were spot-on delicious, generous, well-prepared and very reasonably priced. We did not dine here on our first visit to the country 20 years ago, and I hope it will not be another 20 years before we return. Güten Appetit!

Excellent quality, amply variety of choices, cozy ambiance, professional and attentive service. Good portions and fair prices.

What positive can be said? Good food, but the bad service ruined it. I asked for the check, got visual and audible acknowledgement, then waited for the guy to finish setting up the dining room (20 minutes). Terrible. In order to add insult, the server asked for a tip. No other restaurant in Nürnberg asked for a tip! I'm sorry I do not speak German, but I am trying. The three other restaurants I dined in had great service with no attitude.

I have dined here before, and the food was delicious, but this time, I ordered the two pork loin medallions with a single steak medallion (25 Euros) and was very disappointed. All three medallions were tough and not tasty at all. The veg were not cooked well, either. I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't complain. However, my colleague noticed that the female server hit us up for a tip "follow me to the register to add a tip," but not the German patrons! The atmosphere is fabulous, and I love being in such a historical place, but when I return, it will be only for wine and appetizers.

It's a nice German restaurant in a good location. Both, dinner and dessert were really tasty. Go there, you should not regret it :)

I would 💯 recommend Wirtshaus Hütt‘n when you are looking for German dishes and beer. Just as much as I would recommend the whole location, ambiance wise, but also for it’s friendly waiters. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. It’s also very close to many beautiful historical places and everything is very fast served.

I love this place. The service is great the food is amazing. I have been here a few times. I bring my coworkers who have never had Franconian food. They have a few good dishes that are my go to when I come but I have had a few others by now. I rarely give 5 stars but when I do it is warranted in my opinion. This place has earned every one. If you are in town and want a good place to try this is your place come and enjoy you won’t be disappointed.

Came here for a bit to eat after doing a local tour. Nice outside area and inside looks lovely. Was easy to find an English version of the menu, which was a fairly basic menu. Food itself was really nice with big dishes and reasonable priced. Nothing too flashy here but still a nice little stop.

What a crack! The schäufele has got an amazingly crispy skin, yet at the same time, tender meat that slides off the bone easily. Bratwurstvariation comes in 2 long and 4 short forms, with a white creamy sauce akin to wasabi. The burnt skin amplify the taste of the dish. Only issue was that they only have german menu, but we were helped but the service crew, who exhibited great service. Place is crowded on weekend though.

Amazing food! I’m still thinking about it 2 months later. My fiancé and I were visiting the castle and Albrecht Dürer's House during our trip and needed to have lunch. After a mini search, Wirtshaus Hutt’n popped up as open and a local favorite that was in walking distance to both places. What we didn’t know was that reservations are typically needed here. One of the managers was kind enough to seat us anyway, while giving us a little history of the restaurant and informing us of the popularity locally. We order the bratwurst variety plate, a large salad, one non-alcoholic beer and local favorite beer (red) that was recommended by the manager. After receiving our food, we quickly learned why this restaurant was so popular! Not only is the service fantastic and hospitable but the food was beyond delicious. The bratwurst is juicy and flavorful combined with fresh horseradish and mustard with a side of potato salad and sauerkraut. The large salad was fresh, crispy, the herb raspberry dressing to help offset the heaviness of the sausages. Wish we could have gone back again before leaving but it was our last day. We heard the pork shoulder is also a favorite. Definitely recommend trying when in the area! 😋
