Unbelievable place. Hot water, friendly people, good music, view to Careca's hill!

Ponta Negra Beach takes its name from the surrounding neighborhood in the city of Natal. The name (“black point”) derives from the dark stones that are found along this beach. The beach is about 2.4 miles long (4 kilometers) and at its southernmost end, is bordered by a large sand dune (390 feet tall) known as Morro do Careca (“bald hill” in Portuguese). The waters in this part are very calm & ideal for taking a dip. If you like surfing, stand-up or kite-surfing, different parts of the beach are ideal for these sports. The turquoise water here is very clean. This beach is also very popular because it is located near many hotels and pousadas, restaurants, bars & food stalls. There’s activity here day and night. If you want, you can walk the length of the beach along its wide paved path or rent a bicycle. Another reason for the popularity of this beach is the warm water—it’s about 82°F (28°C) all year-round. If you’re visiting the city of Natal, it will be hard for you not to find yourself on or near this beach, and you will be glad that you visited it too.

Natal, a splendid sea city located in the warmest part of Brazil, the northeast, with astonishing, sandy white beaches, including its most popular one, the PRAIA PONTA NEGRA, easily recognizable by its landmark MORRO DO CARECA (Brazilian for "the bald hill"). The water temperature in this part of the land, is the best thing that your body and soul can experience, being perfectly warm all year around. Outside the water you've got a tropical-wet climate with the ocean breeze mitigating the, otherwise, oppressive heat. Probably my favorite kind of climate. Praia Ponta Negra is a very pretty urban-beach, with its beautiful promenade, palm trees and delicious bars and restaurants. All you have to do is grab a coconut from a local seller, put your canga (Brazilian for beach towel) on the white, soft sand, call a local masseur (scattered all over the beach) that will give you the best relaxing moments and then go for a swim in the warm ocean. To end a perfect day, go to a restaurant by the beach, and eat one of the best sea food in Brazil. I definitely recommend trying the "caranguejo", which means crab. If you happen to be in Natal, Ponta Negra is a fantastic must!

Fantastic place to visit at night. Beautiful clean beach with nice restaurants to visit by day and with good bus or taxi links to central Natal & hotels on Via Costeira .

I lived in the Ponta Negra area for a year and all I can say about this place is that it's amazing and I will always miss it. The beach can be a bit croweded sometimes but it's totally worth the visit.

Great place with good food and a amazing view. Tou can hire a boat ride with scuba diving or a ticycle ride. I strongly recommend both.

Nice beach to visit and surf. Close to the dunes, it offers a beautiful visual. It can get pretty dirty, though, cause people often drop waste on the sand... There could be more trash bins to try to encourage people to discard their waste properly (although this is no excuse).

Lots of sand, salt, and sun. If you're looking for beach, this one is very nice.

Warm water, unforgettable water color, the sand feels good when stepping on. Nature presents beautiful as itself.

Unfortunately the place was closed but there was no information about it. Only a sign said that it would open in December 2018. Also our driver told us to be careful as there are hobos around. It is a nice place, but we were very disappointed as it took us two extra rides to get there and then the gates were closed.

A really nice tourist attraction (they close the at 4pm) and the best spot for you to take a nice picture of Newton Navarro bridge. I really recommend you to stay until the sundown.

Natal's showcase! When someone says Natal, RN you immediately see Morro to Careca in your mind. A beautiful sand dune seen from the entire length of the beach. TOP SPOT! Lots of activities all around, including trips to wild beaches!

Great place to visit, get a dolphin tour at the beach and you will have a great view

If you are visiting Natal, it is a must. Dishes are well served and all time spent here were a great experience. We tried the lobster. Great try!

Went here during a company outing and it really was a fantastic meal. I can’t even recall all that was ordered thanks to the free flowing cachasa at the entrance. Safe to say everything was delicious. The ambiance and service were well done. We order and ate family style for ten of us which worked out great. Highly recommend this place if you are in Natal.

Feeling a bit weird posting review number 16.5k or so for this place. The restaurant is really good though with people queuing well before opening hours. If you want to become a “Comedor de Camaroes” for a short while, this is your destination. Impeccable service and great Brazilian seafood.

So busy but so good! This place is one of the several in the city and on a Thursday night it was packed like it was opening night. We had to wait over an hour for our table but thanks to the bar area where you can order cocktails (one the best caipirinhas I’ve had in Brazil and a Moscow mule with foam) and starters - the croquetas and caprese were amazing. Despite being so busy and a chain restaurant, the quality is incredible, the service super efficient for Brazil and a great atmosphere. Honestly some of the best food in the north east of Brazil. I’d go back every week!

Incredibly varied menu options for Shrimps and seafood overall. Food was amazing. Price is compatible with quality, quantity and taste. Friendly staff. Was there in a large group and we could taste four of the different Shrimp choices, but there were still many others and so interesting that picking only four was hard.

Starting with the Bruschetta potiguar, while not a traditional bruschetta was deliciously unique. As a main dish we shared Dijon camarões, a creamy rice dish with palm hearts, shoestring potatoes and lots of shrimp. Don't be fooled the 2 person could easily feed 3! Finishing up dinner with sobremesa, a lava cake with doce de leite and Creme De Papaya. While I am a lava cake lover, the cake was a bit undercooked leaving the Papaya as the winner. Note most of the food here is meant to be shared!

Traditional food with friendly service and an awesome atmosphere! The food was unbelievable!

Overcrowded place with little to no space. The food now is kinda bland, the sun dried meet had little to no salt, their "picado" and the "buchada" are not that good anymore.. In the old days, the food was amazing and the place was a lot more comfy, with some hammocks and comfy chairs. Also there were the traditional bells under the tables that we ringed to call for service. It lost personality, both in the food and in the environment, but the price is now even higher.

As a Canadian tourist in Brazil, I loved my experience at Mangai because of the wide variety of traditional and uniquely Brazilian foods. I went for the Camarão na Manteiga Acebolada com Macaxeira Frita (shrimp sauteed in butter and onion with fried cassava), trio de pāo de mandioca (cassava bread with 3 different toppings), coxhinas frango e bolinhas de queijo com ketchup de goiaba (chicken dumplings and cheese balls with guava ketchup) and everything was undeniably delicious wherever in the world you're from. If you choose the buffet, there is an incredible variety of equally Brazilian dishes, including the very regional specialty of buchada de bode (stuffed goat stomach). A huge spectrum of Brazilian foods, like a gastronomic playground for any epicurious traveler.

Great food at a great price. Nice intro for me to some Brazilian foods that I haven't had the chance to try...yet. The thanks is to my wife and her family to show me a part of their hometown. Will be returning for sure.

Very quiet when we went but it was early. Salmon cooked nice with nice vegetable selection. Beers pricey, and only 330mls available. Annoying. Service good.

Good food

We were staying at the Best Western, looked outside our window and could see this restaurant across the street. It was packed so we headed over for a late lunch. We weren’t disappointed. We ordered a filet mignon plate for two with grilled steak, veggies, and rice. We also had dessert - chocolate ice cream and pudding leite. Ice cream was good as hard to do it wrong but pudding dessert was not great. We also had some sodas, and beers. Our friends had other dishes which they thought were good too. Fries are good here as we sampled from our friends’ plate. Lunch for 4 people with drinks was approximately 350 reais.

I spent 4 days in Natal with my wife trying different restaurants and "Tábua de carne" has the best all-you-can eat barbecue in the city. Great service and the staff is always in a good mood.

I have had the pleasure of visiting tábua de carne in ponta negra on two different occasions. I've only tried the rodízio and I think it has the best value. the food is amazing, the fried cheese, the picanha, the mandioca frita are my favourites. they also have desert. the lime juice is really good. the ambience is amazing, the staff is very friendly, the restaurant and the bathrooms are very clean. there is a large parking lot in the back, and some in the front. there is an area for children to play, a couple of locations to take photos with friends and family.

Good for seafood, but the chicken was tough as tough rubber. The calamari was done to perfection. Be careful, the proportion of one main is for two people/three people, eg a salmon main has three large salmon pieces, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and a huge bowl of rice. I don't know how much Brazilians usually eat but that's not for one normal person. Don't fill up on bread, like we did. The cake was also crazy good. Super fancy interior.

Service could have been better. Main courses were not brought out at the same time. Sliced potatoes were cold. Empty plates not removed in a timely manner.

It was my birthday and I mentioned it twice in the reservation so we expected some sort of special thing - it's not uncommon in Brazil for restaurants to do that. Even just a happy birthday at the entrance. We decided on the chefs menu, which was an entry, main and desert. The food was ok, nothing special. One of the entries was literally just a few lettuce leafs and tomato. What annoyed us is that food came ao fast and they would come to take our plates before we finishes. Twice I had to say I wasn't done.. almost as if they wanted us to leave since we chose a fixed menu. I mentioned again about my bday and they offered a desert, but since it was already included in our menu, we asked if there was anything else. He said maybe a glass of champagne. He brought it over and to our surprise he meant one.. just for me. So I said that was silly and eventually he gave one to my mom. We were in and out in 1h. It was underwhelming to say the least. For the price and name of the restaurant, it was disappointing, specifically for a special occasion.

Such a great place. The cod cakes were delicious and the fish stew was amazing. The service was impeccable. The manager Junior was amazing.

Visited this place on April, 3rd around 7 pm. Place is beautiful, servers friendly and attentive, desserts amazing but dinner was just ok and toxic. From a party of 7, 3 of us got diarrhea and also vomited all night long and they are still sick this morning. Hopefully I don’t have to take them to the hospital for dehydration. Food poisoning is not a joke. We believe it was the Shrimp NAU because the 3 sick people shared that dish. Vey disappointed. 😞
