Nara

Japan’s former capital city Nara is home to a National Treasure, the Great Buddha (Daibutsu), famous for being one of the largest bronze statues in the world. In the nearby Horyuji Temple you can enjoy the world's oldest wooden building, and one of the world's largest wooden buildings, the Yumedono, is in Todaiji Temple. In addition to these cultural sites, Nara Park is another popular tourist attraction - with beautiful places to hike, bike, and spot the famous wild deer that live here.
