Montevideo

Uruguay’s capital Montevideo is a short flight from Buenos Aires. Sitting on the Rio de la Plata, the world’s widest river at this point, it has a unique geography. The city is also small and wonderfully walkable: a walk along the coast will reveal beautiful white sand beaches, while a stroll into the heart of the city will take you past colorful buildings, shaded parks, and numerous museums, theaters, and restaurants. Attractions like the historic market of Mercado del Puerto and the impressive Palacio Salvo are not to be missed.
