Marseille

Marseille is the second-largest city in France after Paris and is one of the largest ports in the Mediterranean. The beaches of the Cote d'Azur are just a short drive away, but Marseille offers plenty of attractions of its own including a number of museums, galleries, and historical sites. You can see the famous Calanques, a series of limestone cliffs and many Roman ruins that can be seen throughout the city center.

At L'Esplai, the family-owned restaurant at the Grand Bar des Goudes, you'll find affordable prices and fresh, delicious food. The grilled mussels with fried polenta was my favorite dish of the evening, but there's something for everyone on the menu.
