Tough hike with increíble views. We started early entering the park at 7:30 and the whole route took 3 hours with stops for lots of photos. The climb is hard but fun. The steps at the end are a little scary but possible. Book the tickets well in advance, the bus up costs $12 each way per person. The views are sensational!! Must hike and visit experience.

Not challenging at all, at least I wasn't feeling that, but is very stunning, the whole hike is very beautiful, jungle is precious, and the views on the archeological site are just beautiful. Unique!

Steep mountain so smart to have focus on the way up. Beautiful view of Machu Picchu from the top. You have to order the ticket to get her before you arrive the mountain. There are limited tickets for each day! The hike to the top is definitely worth it!

I chose the Huayna Picchu + Circuit 4 route for my first day and was amazed by the breathtaking views. The hike is super fun, but I would suggest hiking shoes for the older folks who only sometimes hike (that’s me!). I was glad I had my Merrells for this journey. Be careful but have fun, especially at the top. Go early!

A mountain with a great view over Machi Picchu from the opposite side to the Sun Gate. Well worth getting a ticket to climb up, but be warned there are very limited tickets (50 per hour time slot, so only 400 a day). The hike up is claimed to take 45 min for the average person, and is not technically difficult just a LOT of steps. I would recommend decent footwear and the steps can be slippery if it has rained recently and weather appropriate clothing. The climb up is mostly shaded.

An hour and a half climb up Huayna Picchu to take in the best views of Machu Picchu and the Andes that surround it. The hike is very steep and quite challenging, but totally worth it if you can make it to the top. Weather notwithstanding, the hike while challenging and long, is not nearly as dangerous as some pictures and websites would have you believe. After taking in the views, it’s another 45 minutes to hike back to the base of Machu Picchu where you can then tour the Inca city. Otherwise, you can hike another hour down to the Temple of the Moon (The Great Cavern), a mysterious Incan structure built inside of a cave. If you are someone that loves to hike and is in relatively good shape, then this adventure is one you will enjoy. It not only brings that rewarding sense of accomplishment, but it also offers some of the most spectacular views you’ll encounter while in Peru.

Get your Machu Picchu tickets 5 to 6 months in advance to hike Huayna Picchu or they will be sold out. Purchase Circuit 4 + Wayna Picchu. This circuit is somewhat challenging, but almost anyone can do it, even if overweight, as long as you take your time and have no medical issues. My wife and I completed the Mountain in 5 hours. Thats with taking in the views at the top. Don't let the "stairs of death" moniker scare you away, just do it. You will not regret it.

There are currently two time slots and either is fine since 7-8am hikers go up without anyone coming down and 10-11am group climb down without anyone going up. The path gets tricky but totally doable even after a heavy rain just wear hiking boots. The rocks weren’t nearly as slippery as I expected.

The moment to finally climb over the top after 4 days trekking is the most rewarding and powerful thing I've ever felt. So beautiful and the trek was totally worth every ache and pain it took to get there

We arrived at the location early in the morning, but unfortunately, the sky was obscured by clouds. We waited until 7:30, hoping for the clouds to dissipate, but they persisted. Consequently, we decided to continue our journey towards the ancient city. Along the way, we encountered other individuals who chose to wait, and they informed us that if we had waited for just another 30 minutes, we would have witnessed the spectacle. This is the reason for my rating of two stars since it wouldn't be fair to give five stars to something I didn't actually see. Therefore, if you're embarking on this trail, unless you are constrained by a tight schedule like we were, I would advise you to be patient, as the rewards are undoubtedly worthwhile.

This is the one free hike to see the citadel from afar. The other two mountain hikes have a fee and are very difficult for those not active. It took us 45 minutes there, and the same back. Beautiful views and not overly strenuous. This is something you should do on your visit.

The views of Machu Picchu from the sun 🌞 gate are spectacular.

One of the most thrilling views on all of the Inca Trail. It's your first sign that you've "made it!" You breathe a sigh of relief and relax a moment. It's such a moment. Highly recommend approaching Machu Picchu this way!

This sun gate is only available to those who walk the Inka Trail to Machu Picchu. It's an incredible view and a lovely end to the 4 day hike.

We got there first light and were greeted with Cloud cover, we waited till 7:30 and still cloud cover, so we carried on down to the ancient city, we saw people who carried on waiting and they told us, we only need to wait another 30mins and we'd have seen it, hence the 2 stars, (cant give 5 stars for something i didnt see) so if your doing the trail, unless your on a time schedule, as we were, be patient, and the rewards are worth it.

Great view on Machu Picchu and the surrounding mountains and valleys from the distance. The only way to get there is, if you do the 4 Day or 2 Day Inca Trail Trek

What a great feeling to come around that corner and see Machu Picchu. Absolutely stunning.

About an hour's hike from Machu Picchu - well worth it if you have the time! Fantastic views of the citadel, especially around sunrise or sunset. Be aware that it closes around 4pm though, so if you cannot start hiking by 230-3, it may not be worthwhile.

The beautiful plaza anchors the center of town with a fantastic backdrop of the Andes Mountain. Surrounded by restaurants and helps soak up the atmosphere.

This square is small but quite beautiful. You will see a big statue of Inka King in the centre of the square. Right next to it is a small beautiful church "Parroquia Virgen del Carmen Church" which is open for visits. The square is surrounded by shops hotels and local eateries. Good place for photos with the huge statue.

A really nice plaza with restaurant and snack areas all around. Clean. Full of tourists but considering this is where everyone comes back to after Machu Pichu it’s to be expected.

A very touristic square. Not the best restaurants, not the best bars and just noise and many people and stray dogs.

One of the best I have visited till now. The receptionists were really helpful and friendly. Great staff who knew how to serve the customer. The room was well equipped and the service was excellent. From the balcony, we could view the sea and feel the cool breeze. The location of our room was absolutely perfect.

Place where everyone gathers from train. You have everything on your hand. Beatiful place on earth. I recommend breakfast on mercado instead of overpriced restaurants.

Many choices of food, there are a lot of shops for tourists, if you need the train station you might get lost because they don't have signs, so you will have to ask around. Theres some stayed you can take pictures with.

Massive rocks used to the build the main temple. This is for the God who is above the son. The God of all gods. You can tell by the rocks and by how well they are cut.

Nice little forest walk. Easy to find. Just walk down from the area where you can take the bus for machu pichu. After you find a fork in the road with machu picchu letters. Take the right road and follow the railway track.

beautiful and tranquil spot. Hours walk along train tracks beside the river from the town, but well worth the effort. To be honest I preferred the scenery along the river to the tourist trap of MP.

I camped here the night before and after visiting Machu Picchu, a perfect place to relax in nature after my salkantay trek! Camping was only 10 soles and 50% discount to visit the gardens, which are really pretty and has a nice waterfall to swim in. Restaurant also has good food. Camping has a small outdoor kitchen with water and electricity. Overal a really nice experience! Slight downside, wifi didn't work great.

One of the highlights of our trip to Peru 18 months ago. An amazing garden in a remote location. Highly worth visiting!

This place is unreal. So serene and beautiful. It was about a 45-60 minute walk from downtown Auguas Calientes and we spent almost two hours inside the park. So nice to slowly wander, learn, and explore. Would definitely go back again.

We were a big group, and it seemed like it was a bit overwhelming for the staff. Otherwise, the service was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious. I had lomo saltado and loved it. The beers were lighter than I usually like them, but they paired really well with the food. The prices were reasonable for the portions. The atmosphere is really laid back, and some areas have a view of the river. Nice restaurant.

We were there as part of a larger tour group and they handled it very efficiently. Great location right on the river, extensive menu of Peruvian dishes and to top it off a full menu of craft beer options.

Came here for lunch and ordered Peruvian Trilogy for starters which includes yucca dumplings, ceviche and Lima Cause. For mains we ordered filled chicken breast and grilled Alpaca steak in elderberry sauce served Quinoa risotto. It was so good. I highly recommend it. the Alpaca steak was well done and a bit rubbery for my liking even though I ordered for medium well. Our server Ada was very attentive and apologized and gave us pisco sour drinks for free to compensate for what happened. Overall, I highly recommend this restaurant for its superb food and service and also its location by the river. Sit on the second floor by the window because the views are impeccable!

I ordered trout and craft beer. Both were very tasty. I'm alone, but she guided me to the window seat. The waitress was always smiling and pleasant. The price was also a little cheaper than the same restaurant. This is the place I want to come again.

The food here is outstanding. The presentation is beautiful, and everything we tried was delicious. The staff are all very courteous, the view out their window wall of the river is lovely, and we really enjoyed our meal here.

If there ever was a restaurant with captivating view, Mapacho is it! You literally sit above boiling roaring river, water forcing itself on the rocks! But if the view is not what you're seeking, food is great here too! Everything we tried was fresh and hot, portions aren't small, strawberry lemonade was awesome! And service was top notch! They are definatelly suited for Western tourists, speaking English well, with English menus, credit card payment and friendly staff. If we stayed here for longer, we'd definatelly come back!

We went here for lunch after our Machu Picchu hike. The prices are a little above average. However, the burgers we had were excellent. They ask you how the meat should be cooked. The meat was juicy as it should be. If you want a good burger, go here. Nice location next to the river as well.

We had a great time at Mapacho after our visit to Machu Picchu! Victor and Kevin were our waiters and they handled all of our requests. They were very friendly and spoke excellent English. There is a great beer selection here and the pizza was delicious (loved the alpaca pizza!). Great views if you get a seat by the window.

A tour guide recommended this place, but I was not impressed with this place. I can say this restaurant was the only place I was disappointed with in Peru. We got ceviche as an appetizer which was the only good thing we had. I literally didn't eat my food. My food was very hard and unfavorable. The service was not very good. The server took forever to take our order, and then we always had to call him over. He never came back to check on us. This restaurant does have an amazing view but to me that doesn't make it worth the vist.

We were a group of nine and made similar orders but there should not have been a reason for two people to wait such a long time to receive an order. Other than the alpaca hamburger being an alpaca flank steak sandwich. I was satisfied with my visit.

Excellent service, food, and view from the patio! I had the Alpaca medallion with onions, tomato and the creamy sauce and it was super! Girlfriend had chicken and asked for mashed potatoes, we both loved our meals! Will be going there again before we leave the village in a few days!

The staff works together to make your experience a good one. This restaurant offers delicious vegan meals. I enjoyed my vegan ceviche & chips and salsa. My server was very friendly & I have a nice view of the lake during dinner.

The food was really spectacular! Very tasty and plentiful for the prices. Of course the prices here in Aguas Calientes is much higher than what you get in Cusco but that’s fine as it’s a touristy area. Must try the trout!! The atmosphere was super fun with live music and the whole group got up to dancing at one point, super fun!

The food here is great and the portions are appropriate for somewhere people spend the day hiking. The pumpkin cream soup is out of this world good. The goat cheese pizza is very mild, but perfectly balanced with a nice garlic finish. The staff are eager and helpful. It's a wonderful dining experience

We can enjoy eating Peruvian cuisine! And “pisco sower” is my recommended drink. Great bartender will make you best drinks.

The food here is outstanding. It’s a must try place. There are a great variety of vegetarian options. We ordered the quinoa chips that came with a spicy sauce and it was amazing. I highly recommend it! For the entree we ordered pesto pizza and triple pasta white sauce and it’s one of the best pasta I have had. It’s definitely a must try! Tiramisu was not available. Instead they got us a special ice cream for our anniversary. Overall an amazing experience and service!

Very nice restaurant in Machu Picchu town. They serve ver delicious fresh pasta with bolognese. The pizza is good, if you like spicy, ask for the hot sauce. Good quality of material and friendly service. Love everything.

Best meal I had in Peru so far. Fresh ingredients with excellent flavor. I went during happy hour and got 2 drinks, soup, pizza, and ice cream for about $30 US. Very reasonable for the high quality food. The place gets busy fast and the waiters get overwhelmed. The fire pit inside is nice to keep mosquitoes away.

One of the best restaurants to try when your in Aguas Calientes, they make their own pastas and use fresh local ingredients. Service is great - Alfredo was very friendly and took good care of us. Also don’t miss trying Tiramisu when your here - over all great experience.

Really nice and charming Italian restaurant! Nice place with a fireplace in the middle, with sofas and tables. They have a good options for drinks and cocktails other than pastas and pizzas. You must try the tiramissu (they prepare in front of you).

Must visit. Must try. Must to visit again. First of all, the place is not only about the food, but about the people who working there. Abel is the heart and soul of this place. It was a long time since we met such a great service, care and attention. He surrounded us with a unique atmosphere of hospitality, we felt ourselves like a guests of honor. Secondly - the food. Everything what we tried was amazing, absolutely great flavour, presentation, taste. A harmony of the flavours on the plate, we tried alpaca, mushroom gnocci with cheese and cream sause, asian style noodles with beef, various of deserts and of course local crafted beers. Only the best experience. We would love to get back here again, but sadly, we have to leave Aguas Calientes today. By the way, frankly speaking, I am not the greatest fan of tiramisu, however for some reason i decided to try it here, so far it's the best I ever tired (based on my experience and taste only, of course). Oh, and additional note. I sprained my ankle badly, and once we reached the place we asked Abel to give us a bag of ice to apply for feet and he was extremly kind to give it for us. This saved my ankle and perhaps the upcoming day. Great job, thanks a lot for everything!

Delicious food. Loved the ceviche following Brenda’s recommendation. And a very yummy and tender lomo saltado on quinoa (instead of traditional rice and chips). Stuffed peppers was also very good. Thanks for the complimentary Pisco sour. Excellent coffee too!

Very nice restaurant! The food is great and the staff is friendly! It has a very nice view from the river if you sit in the back!

We came in the restaurant late night like 9pm but the waiter, Javier gave us his warm welcome. We had a Guinea Pig and it was really good taste. We recommend you should find Javier when you get there.

Food, cocktails, ambiance, and service all fantastic 🥰 We had the ceviche (with delicious spicy tiger milk), alpaca with red beans and rice, sumac aycha (my favorite), a bunch of pisco cocktails (classic and passion fruit sours were the best of the bunch) and some other finger foods. All yummy! Great upstairs view of the mountain and river.

Food was good, relatively cheap. Good service with a great view of the river. There was also entertainment as well which helped with the wait time.

I ordered the Causa Crocante and the Alpaca Parilla and it was all delicious. Javier attended my friend and I so well. Oh, and don't forget to try a Machu Picchu drink while you're here!

We had duck leg, beef heart and trout. Trout seems to be the only seafood available after arriving Cusco. This one is OK. Beef heart is pretty exotic. My boyfriend really liked it. The duck leg is crispy outside, but not much flavor inside. This restaurant is a little under staffed.

We ordered the fetuccini al pesto con pollo and pollo crocante. Everything here was so delicious, including the complimentary corn snack! The workers were hospitable and friendly as well. There’s also a clean bathroom.

Very nice place along river; stopped by after our visit to Machu Picchu. Great meal - we had the club sandwich and burger, both quite good and simple foods! Staff were very helpful and while we only speak a little Spanish, and they only speak a little English, we were able to figure everything out!

Food was better than average than some of the other places we dined at in aqua Caliente. Husband said his pizza was very good. Drink was pretty and washed down well after a day of hiking. A large tour came in as we finished our meal so it is popular with tour companies. Overall I would eat here again.

Scam. They offer Burger Combos with fries and beer. As we ordered the Combo with a vegetarian burger it was not possible. Waste of time. They could not explain why its not possible. They just try to get you into the restaurant.

This restaurant has a good view of the river. We sat upstairs with the river view but it does get dark early so I'd suggest going for lunch if you are specifically going for the view. They have a few vegetarian options. We had a corn soup and a pizza.

Lovely restaurant with a good variety of eats. Mixed drinks were delicious and strong. The corn and cheese soup was absolutely delightful, one of the best soups I’ve ever had.

SERIOUS NEED OF ORGANIZATION... Beautiful views and loads of potential... The staff were very sweet and it seemed like they were always moving and trying hard... However, it took an hour or so to get french fries and a drink. Not sure what was going on... I'm an avid traveler with loads of experience in the third world... But this was too much even for someone who is a very simple person... The only reason I am posting is because I'm hoping management will see this and step up the game

Consistently great food. Menu items are different from offerings at other restaurants in the area which sets then apart. Incredible views. Great service. Order the Andean soup and their Pisco Sour.
