This is a very cool covered wooden bridge in Luzern, Switzerland. Apparently, it’s the oldest of its kind in Europe. It was initially constructed in 1365. Definitely walk across it. Beautiful flowers on both sides & lit up at night. No tickets needed.

Second time visiting this place, is always feel so romantic, the night view are sure better than day time visit. Bring your love one, standing next to the river, made a promise and hold each hand forever.

Chapel bridge is one of the most beautiful bridges I've seen. It is spectacular to catch a sunset from the bridge or while looking at the bridge. The flowers are real! There are vivid old wood paintings along the inside of the bridge. I highly recommend visiting.

It's gorgeous and it's for free. What's not to like? It's worth noting there are stairs involved so there are some potential accessibility issues if you are not so mobile or have a stroller with you (like we did). Wasn't too busy when we visited (end of winter) but I can see this bridge getting packed with tourists during more popular times.

We visited world's oldest truss bridge today and happily ticked one item off our bucket list. This bridge restored after a fire in the 90s still has some of the original paintings left in it. It's at the centre of town connecting the two banks and looks wonderful with the water tower beside it.

Iconic landmark of Lucerne. Aside from the incredible lake, it's a must-see, or you have never been to this city. But it's busy, crazy busy, and you need to be patient to get that shot. I wished we had more time to see more sights of this lovely city, maybe another day.

This place looks really awesome during high season with tons of activities. However, during early May we paid ~70 CHF per person to see only fog. We will need to visit Switzerland again for a rectified experience.

Great place. When we went in April it was rainy and foggy. But it was still wonderful as you will see from the pictures and videos. Once we reached the top, we didn't see much due to the fog. The walk from the bus stop is mostly uphill, so be mindful. The ride was free with the Swiss Travel Pass.

Beautiful views filled with trees on a majestic background. I liked the different options to get up and down. Staff was kind and efficient. The whole set up was done very well. So that the transition were smooth with short queues.

Beautiful experience! It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit Mount Pilatus and YES the cable car or Gondolas is a sight to travel and experience it. They are red in colour and looks like Dragons from far. The gondolas crisscrossing is a sight in itself. This single ride is worth the effort and money. Mount Pilatus was awesome and so is the ride by cable car. The cable car takes us to breathtaking places and the places it covers was stunning. The gondolas crisscrossing in fog or cloud is worth clicking pictures for a lifetime, such is the beauty.

Quite long line as first gondola takes only 4 people …. Should have little better organization. Parking description (that it’s included in price of ticket) not so obvious.

Absolutely gorgeous views, great hiking, about 4 hours to top or cable car alternative. Fun activities such as ropes course and alpine sledding. Food is overpriced, bring a picnic. It was very warm when we visited but it can get windy so dress accordingly.

An experience worth experiencing! It's heavenly once you reach the top and the cable car sojourn is a delight. The steepest cogwheel train might be a good option too but the view from the cable car is breathtaking!!

Expensive but amazing! Went halfway up and rode the alpine slide. Arguably the best part of our vacation Switzerland. Hope you get clear skies!

The playground is amazing. 10 Francs to get here one way. I recommend to do this stop if you have kids. The way up to the top can be done if you really want. But the kids will not like to leave this playground area.

Download weather Apps and search on Google for weather reports when planning a trip up the mountain. The day we planned on going, it was cloudy in the morning but a slight opening in the afternoon, the remaining 2 days were due to be low cloud and raining. So we decided to chance going in the afternoon. Took the number 1 bus to the cable car station. When you get off the bus go up the steps to the church and out the back follow the path. It was still cloudy when we got half way up, we couldn't see the top so we got out and had our packed lunch. We went on the Toboggan run, great fun! When we looked up again, we could see the top so we got the cable car up. We spent the most incredible few hours drinking in the views. We had hot Gluiwein from the cafe. We fed the birds with some nuts we had, they eat from your hand. The cog train wasn't working, it was just the cable car. Incredible views when it's clear of cloud.

This makes for a great day trip! If the weather is good, head to the top for great views all around! Also nice to hike some sections with cable car over head.

A very charming city! Walking through the old town and along the waterfront. Lovely restaurants and a very relaxed atmosphere! A MUST SEE place!

This lake and this area in general, is very scenic and relaxing. The water was placid and tranquil as well. It offers nice views of the surrounding city of Luzern and it's mountains. I recommend taking a boat tour of the lake. It is an hour long with one stop round trip. Definitely worth seeing and pretty hard to avoid if you visit Luzern.

Very picturesque and serene place. A must see for nature and art lovers. Lots of opportunities for photo shoots. The chapel bridge near the lake is also very beautiful and made from wood. Also lots of shopping near the lake.

Best place to be visited during all season. Super combination of mountains along with lakes and also boat rides makes it complete package.

Sailed from Lucerne to Flüelen on the Uri, Europe's oldest paddle steamer. The 100 year old boat is in the best possible conditions and offers all amenities with a flair of the grand old times. The panoramic boat ride lasts around 2:45 h, in early October there was a fresh breeze so bring warm cloth if you plan to stay outside. The upper deck is beautifully sunny, but other areas more wind protected. The morning fog soon lifted and views opened, so don't be deterred if the morning looks gloomy. The restaurant serves food and drink, but nobody minds if you bring your own either. Indoors there are information panels and one can watch the steam engine in full action. It looks as shiny and new as it started operations yesterday, not 100 years ago.

Lake Lucerne is surrounded by beautiful mountains, picturesque villages and the Old town which makes the cruise through the lake an enjoyable experience. We took the boat from Luzern Bahnhofquai to Kehrsiten - Burgenstock and back which took around an hour. The trip was very relaxing. You can immerse yourself in the calmness of lake Lucerne and enjoy the sights of the floating swans, the majestic snow covered mountains, the green meadows with village houses popping up and the regal structures of the Old town.

We were going through the centre of Luzern one day evening. And it was magical. Some parts of town has fairy-tale atmosphere, like these on the pics. On the first one is statue, on the second one toilets next to the statue and on the last one is café situated just in front of the statue area. I wish everyone enjoy the attractive place.

A beautiful, serene, quiet park and incredible Monument. Very moving, and worth the visit. City wifi works just outside the park walls, but not in it. An easy walk from here down to the waterfront and right beside the glacier park attraction too.

A huge sculpture of lion carved from the stone. Although the history is very sad but it is a majestic piece of art work that you see here. A big respect to the people for the memory of whom it was constructed. It is a part of the walking tour that you take with your guide in the city, so you are well informed about the history behind it. Really impressive.

Was under construction, but still a beautiful tribute. While there, we were pleasantly surprised by clean and innovative restroom…make sure to check it out!

The Lion Monument was one of the most detailed pieces of rock I've ever seen. It was definitely very moving and sad, yet beautiful at the same time. I learned upon visiting, how prestigious the Swiss Mercenaries/Guards were in those times and continue to serve at The Vatican. This monument is a must visit if you are in Luzern.

A beautiful rock carved sculpture depicting the fallen Swiss soldiers from an episode in the French Revolution. The majesty and the anguish of the lion is immense. The park is a very quiet one and the visit there can be combined with the Glacier garden which is adjacent to it. I would consider this to be worth a visit if visiting Lucerne for more than a day.

The place is very calm and relaxing. You can sit down and have a good rest watching the lion monument. It's an incredible art carving on the rock. Its free so it's worth paying a visit. But the museum have to pay.

Magnificent lion sculpture. Extra tip, look carefully and you will see a silhouette of another animal! Have fun spotting it!

Massive monument with an interesting fountain in front of it. Much more enjoyable than how it appears in the picture. Check out the really interesting public bathroom.

A truly beautiful mountain! Tram travel is included if you have the Swiss Travel Pass - we'd recommend sitting on the left side going up the mountain for the best views.

Rigi - The Queen of the Mountains is the place above Luzern with an amazing 360 degree view of the lakes down below. You get by train the top of the mountain, have a lunch and then walk down the hill and you can choose one of many trails.

Queen of the mountains. Different sides to go up, but worth it. You can ski and hike here. Views are amazing. One side shows the alps and the other the Swiss plateau. Cities like Zurich, Lucern and Zug can all be seen.

Amazing experience. This mountain is included in the Swiss travel pass. Close to Lucerne, can also be easily done as a day trip from Zurich. Has great views different from Titlis, Jungfrau and Matterhorn. Would suggest to take the cog wheel train one way, and the cable car and boat the other way to experience the different views. View from cable car is amazing.

Less touristy and great views. It’s also included in your Swiss pass and saver day pass without any extra fees for excursions. Make sure you check the weather on the top before you go.

We really enjoyed Rigi. It was very easy to get to the top, minimal effort on the cogwheel train. Fantastic views 360 degrees. The day we went was quite sunny so we were able to capture its true essence. Great for families as well, use the elevator at the hotel if you have a stroller, it really helps! You need to walk all the way up to get the the stunning views.

Very beautiful place to enjoy Swiss alps view, the lakes around Lucerne and all around it. A must visit detour if you ar ein Lucerne You get a ferry to Vitznou from Lucerne and get the cogwheel train to go all the way up. While returning you can get a gondola(ropeway) to enjoy nice view again At the top, there are breathtaking views and there is also a restaurant to chill

Easy access mountain with plenty of hiking trails all around for all levels. The panorama trail well worth a try.

Absolutely stunning! I recomend bringing warm clothes even in the summer and checking the weather in advance to see if the visibility is high so that you don’t spend a lot of money to see only clouds. I also think the tickets to visit are a bit too expensive for what is offered. However, it was truly a stunning place to visit, completely worth it. I also recomend exploring other peeks around the top of the Rigi because the views are truly breathtaking! We chose to climb up to one of the peeks that are near the first train stop after the Rigi, it was a harder climb, but totally worth it!

One of our favorite places during our trip. Wonderful view. Si many view points up here. 3 hours seems not enought 😉 Rigi beer is really nice...we hope we buy more 🤣

It is a feast of confusion for English speakers. The staffs are friendly, but can't speak English well which causes multiple problems for us. Waiting time for anything is quite long too btw. Firstly, wrong foods ordered despite we pointed through the menu (we usually do this to avoid confusion). Although the manager was good enough to give us free starter to compensate. Second confusion: When we asked for the bill, the manager stopped us from getting the bill, and mentioned something about free ice cream. So, we thought... compensation? But when the bill is here, the ice cream is chargeable. Maybe we didn't understand the culture there... Despite all that, the foods were quite good. Other staffs were OK, so we we gave 10 CHF tips (because the manager said we should tip the staff brcause this restaurant is different?). Anyway, whatever. We all left the restaurant in confusion discussion what went wrong instead of discussing about the foods.

This restaurant in the heart of Lucerne serves a traditional Italian cuisine which is divine. All our dishes were perfectly executed, cooked and seasoned perfectly, using excellent products. The service is both professional and friendly. It is definitely one of the best Italian cuisine I have had in my life, at the same time simple and very refined, hats off. PS : as you can often expect in Switzerland this restaurant is pretty expensive.

Pizza was delicious but I would have preferred a traditional tiramisù. A bit on the expensive side.

This is a wonderful restaurant located in Astoria Hotel in downtown Lucerne. We had a great time and the dinner here was simply perfect. Our waiter, Emiliano, was friendly and well informed. We had an excellent Barolo wine with the meals of spaghetti with clams and sea bass. Highly recommend.

First of all, we were impressed by the atmosphere. The service, attention and professionalism of the waitstaff were very high. As for the food, the sauces, pasta, and pizzas were incredibly delicious and truly outstanding. The prices were quite reasonable for a quality place and meal. Despite not having a reservation, their effort to accommodate us and set up a table was a nice gesture.

Best Italian restaurant of Switzerland. Food is really good and atmosphere amazing with opera sounding….Mateo is the best, his service makes you feel like in the best place of Italy. If you like good food and best restaurants and you visit Luzern, don’t miss La Cucina!!!

Nice service and cosy setting with dimmed lights (but not too much!), open kitchen area with copper pans hanging and nice white tiles on the kitchen walls. Also! Loved the thick wooden beams. Anyways as to the food… everything was so delicious. From the nice bread and good quality olive oil and balsamic, to the tuna carpaccio (I usually don’t like rucola salad but here it was so good?!), and the homemade pappardelle with shrimp. There was also pizza which I personally didn’t try but they got a good rep. But back to the pappardelle which I’m still thinking about. Sauce was perfectly salted (to my liking obvi) and had the perfect amount of parsley and so many shrimps! Anywho it was super great and I haven’t had this good of Italian dishes in Switzerland in a while (especially not in Lausanne… mais passons).

The service got 4 stars because they forgot one order and then cooked it fast after we reminded him, but overall the food is great... we had la cucina pizza (without the ham) and it was perfecto!, also we had white sauce penne pasta with black olives and chesse it was fresh and amazing too, lastly (the forgotten one) the penne pesto pasta.. amazing all of the ingredients is fresh and delicious. 10/10! So friendly and kind staff, I ordered a virgin mojitos and it wasn't on the menu but they did it any ways and it was good 😋 note : the tiramisu is with alchohol and they did tell us so we had the pina cotta instead, it was very good... 😋😋😋😋 They take long time to prepare but over all I will visit again, definitely

We ordered three tapas dishes and seafood paella. The tapas were incredibly delicious, with tender pork and well-matched sauces. The seasoning of the octopus was also good, although it was slightly softer than expected. The shrimp was extremely juicy and tasty, and we couldn't believe we could find such delicious shrimp in Lucerne. The seafood paella was delicious and came in generous portions. We ordered a portion for two people, but three of us couldn't finish it. The service was attentive, and we would definitely consider visiting this restaurant again.

Amazing food and friendly staff. This is our second time in Bolero and I can confirm that it is a marvelous dinner experience from the beginning to the end. Elisabete took our orders and made sure we felt at home; Fernando and Rita were also great checking in with us. Thank you for everything!

Just finished dinner at this wonderful establishment and it was fantastic Our servers name was Linda (I believe) and she was extremely helpful. She helped us select several tasty tapas and recommend that a paella for three would feed the four of us. The Paella Marisco was the main event and it did not disappoint. I’ve been making my own for years and thought it was excellent. The desserts were a treat also. A great find I highly recommend if you love Paella.

Great choice of food available. Paella courses take 40 mins to prepare but look great. Didn't have time that so went for lamb shank from a la carte section. Absolutely wonderful. Would thoroughly recommend. Obviously very popular.

Wonderfull food with amazing service. The place is very stylish with a good price. No suitable to have kids running around but a perfect place to have a nice food. Enjoy the sangrias and pulpo a la gallega. The tiramisu is also part of the heaven, if you believe or not on it.

Sharon and team was very lovely and friendly. Dinner was amazing! Restaurant seems pretty crowded on a Sunday night. Enjoyed our complimentary starter and dessert as well. Great location too!

Fantastic restaurant with delicious food, excellent service, and elegant décor. Our server told us about the 2 or 3-course tapas combo but also suggested that we could order the dishes individually without them being part of the set. We took her advice and ordered 3 individual tapa dishes – shrimp, mussels, and octopus. Then followed by the Flambéed Catalan cream with ice cream. All were excellent. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

Wow! Incredible dining experience. Our server was lovely, I think his name is Alex. This was my first time trying paella and it blew me away. Both the white and red sangrias are delicious. The restaurant is very pretty. I'm terribly sad I'm not staying in Luzern another night and can't eat at Bolero again! Extremely minor complaint: the serving of truffle chips that comes with the sangria box is a bit stingy.

Very easy to book a table online. I called to know how long does it take for preparing the Paella since we only have 1.5h, all the staff we had speak very good English and were all very helpful. I preordered 3 different types of paella(normally takes 40 min) and starters and the timing was all perfect. Food was amazing, my favorite were the colorful tomato salad and paella Valenciana! But everything was good and very tasty. Best paella I have ever had in Switzerland. Highly recommend and we will definitely come back.

Food was tasty and well priced. They have good sized portions of food and was not too expensive. Servers were kind and the service was quick. Enjoyed our lunch here during our visit to Lucerne. The location is very convenient to the bridge. The interior of the restaurant was beautiful and we loved the decor and atmosphere.

The atmosphere is cool, and the venue is quiet interesting for a brewery with traditional brewing systems. I really recommend to visit. The craft beer is nice and soft, however I have tried before better ones since I’m craft beer lover . However really recommend to try this place, and especially try their roasted chicken

If we could give six stars we would. Front of house were able to find the family a table at short notice on a busy Sunday lunch which was well appreciated. The service was friendly and quick. The food was delicious as was the Christmas beer. The ambiance inside was delightful. Food portions were generous and reasonably priced.

This place is highly recommended. It is busy but worth the time. It's traditional without being too much. Portions are large and prices reasonable (for Switzerland) if you're not getting beef. House wheat beer is good with no aftertaste. The rotisserie chicken wad moist and flavorful. Definitely worth a visit.

Stopped in while in town because I am always up for a good brewery. The selection here was very small but what they had was good. I had the Zwicklebeer. Normally that's not my thing because they tend to be light. Drinking this beer sitting by the water watching the crowds go by was a great experience.

Beautiful view from terrace. Nice options in menu and good food. Absolutely delicious beer. While we were treated quite nicely, the table next to us didn’t get a same treatment. Other than that a nice place.

We came by this restaurant for a quick dinner. Great location, right in front of the famous Chapel Bridge in Lucerne. Great atmosphere with home-made beer and good food. We also notice that the price is reasonable compared with nearby restaurants. We highly recommend the beer and «Ratskellertopf» dish (the one with bone marrow :) in the pictures)

This is the second time I have been in the restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was very good and the beer was excellent. In addition, the staff is friendly and helpful. I recommend trying their in-house produced beer as they taste very good. If you are only 2 people I would not recommend an apero platter in addition to a main course as the portions are well sized. We had both and were super full (but happy) afterwards.

Al fresco seats are on a first come first served basis though it can be really hot on a summer afternoon.. But what beats having great food with the chapel bridge as the backdrop? Ordered the marinated long rib pork chop, the rotisserie chicken and rosti with sausage.. All didn't disappoint though it did take quite a while for the food to come. But all is forgiven if you order their beers. Awesome experience overall!

Excellent place to sit and have a nice meal along the river with a good view. Staff were very welcoming and attentive and food was good. Portion of food were very generous for us.

Made a reservation in advance of our vacation at the recommendation of a good friend. Requested a table on the balcony as my friend said the view would be good. When we arrived at the hotel, we entered on the ground floor next to the river. The restaurant was very busy (as are most restaurants along the river) but it seemed that nearly half of the tables outside had people smoking. It made us very glad that we booked a table on the smaller balcony upstairs so that we could be away from the smoke. There were maybe 6 or 7 tables on the balcony and when we first got there we were very impressed with the view and service. But then people at 2 of the tables near us started smoking. It was overpowering and ruined the experience. In my opinion, the restaurant encourages smoking by placing ash trays at every table. I was really surprised that smoking was allowed in restaurants there as I thought Switzerland was a very healthy country. I did give feedback directly to the hotel later and they just said that it's impossible to separate smokers from non-smokers. I disagree, they could make the balcony seating smoke free and limit smoking to the tables downstairs closest to the river. If you are bothered by cigarette smoke, I would avoid this hotel. That is sad because the views, food and service are great.

We stopped in while walking around the area. We did not have a reservation and they were still able to seat us right away. The restaurant is beautiful with lots of open air seating. They have a downstairs, a balcony, and seating right by the river. Our server was busy but attentive. We all ordered Swiss dishes from the menu. The best of those was the salmon trout which was excellent! It was a pleasant evening.

Such a lovely restaurant, we ate on the 2nd floor patio overlooking the lake and bridge, it was great for people watching! We shared the cheesecake to start and pork cordon blue as our main, both were yummy. Our server was sweet and attentive, we'll be back for sure!

Nice meal with great view. Cheese was nice and good. Though a little pricey but it was worth it. Not too crowded on the day of my visit either.

I was more excited for this than what I got out of it. We tried the cheese fondue and maybe it was because it had alcohol in it (?) It tasted pretty bitter and though we got accustomed to it, we didn't love it. Is that just cheese fondue everywhere here? Otherwise had the cordon blue pork which was good. Despite other reviews about service, our waiter was friendly and quick. We didn't get to sit by the water as it was full when we arrived around 12pm but it was still a nice atmosphere. Menu in many languages! Pricey- tourist trap or just Switzerland? Maybe both. 30-40 cfh for each item we got.

One of the best meals we are during our vacation!! This place was so cute, tons of outdoor seating, and the service was excellent. The menus are all in three languages so very easy to understand! The dessert was my favorite and the swiss dishes were amazing to try! Also they have a large selection of beer and wine for a perfect evening dinner!

This was the first restaurant we tried in Lucerne. It was short walk from the hotel, situated right on the river, and had had fondue on the menu - trifecta! First of all, you can't beat the setting. This was one of the most picturesque meals we enjoyed in Switzerland. We sat outside right on the river and could have stayed all day. The service was excellent. Very friendly and clearly used to tourists. Their recommendations (and explanations) we excellent. The menu is seasonal and everything was very fresh. The portions were very large as well. Everything we tried was delicious. We especially enjoyed the fondue and seasonal salads. You're also just a few steps from the shopping district, which is perfect for walking off all those calories!

We ordered one plate to shared and they charged CHF-4 extra just to share food. I don’t get it But ok. Almost everyone spoke English….. it felt like a very touristic place full of history. Switzerland food.

I took one of my friends from foreign country and they wanted to eat cheese fondue. Normally people eat it only in winter so it was good that they serve those winter foods in early summer. The service people are friendly but sometimes they can’t see what is most priority. You have to wait long to order foods and they don’t come often to check our drinks are still there or anything to order additional even though so less guest war… But the foods are very good!

This place is fantastic! The service is impeccable, the waiters are super professional and friendly, the place is historical and fascinating. The food is delicious, especially the Rösti, the best I've ever had. Maybe a little expensive but definitely worth a visit.

For those who would like to try delicious risotto, grill lamb, the cube beef with mustard sauce and the chocolate lava for dessert this restaurant highly recommended. The food cooked to perfection. You will truly able to experience a different taste food from our usual taste likes. We met such a friendly and humble person who assisted us with our food. One of the best food I had in Switzerland. I tried the lobster pasta and beef fillet and They taste superb! Even though the food is pricey, it was worth it! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

This restaurant is fantastic, the styling of the restaurant is great, the service is very friendly and professional and the food is amazing. Expect it to be expensive but that is normal in Switzerland. I highly recommend this restaurant. Thank you for the service. Edit: before I payed, the kind waiters were preparing a schnitzel for a different table outside. Now thats amazing.

We absolutely loved this place, every dish was a treat and the wine selection is beautiful. The staff was amazing, sending our regards to Helena, whom we’ll never forget and made our evening very special. We had the risotto, the lean brisket, the crepes suzette and the chocolate mousse. Absolutely stunning meal 😍

Excellent food, one of the finest wine selection and a service that deserves the name. It has its price! But better one meal here than 2 mediocre prefab, no atmoshere visits in comun restaurants. go for it! the at the table cooked Wienerschnitzel and the mousse au chocolat that remains legendary!

I wanted to try an authentic and traditional schnitzel and discovered this restaurant. It is owned by a family and has been beloved by many famous figures. If you order a traditional schnitzel, a waitress will cook it in front of you. Very fun to watch and the taste is great too. And because of the special service, it’s not cheap.

Excellent service and delicious food, this was our 2nd visit after 25 years and everything is still as wonderful. Lobster soup (can’t recall the exact title) was scrumptious. Will I return to Lucerne because of this restaurant? A strong Yes!

Loved the atmosphere and the fantastic service from the staff! However we weren’t really used to the amount of butter put into our Weiner Schnitzel, and didn’t really appreciate the taste. Maybe it’s just us. But we really loved the decor inside and added to a very positive atmosphere.
