I have two teenage boys who are much more into outdoor adventure than visiting museums. However, we felt like we should visit at least one museum during our trip to Peru and picked the Larco Museum. It was a great choice and we all really enjoyed it. The collection is very impressive and displayed in an easy to appreciate manner. Signs are provided in 6 languages including English for each display. In addition to the collections, the grounds themselves are quite nice. We spent about 2 hours there in total. We took Uber from our hotel both directions, which was very easy. There were a decent number of people there, but it was not crowded at all.

The museum has a very impressive collection of pottery and artifacts. Our tour guide Danny did a great job of making sure we all had a great experience. The restaurant is a very lovely place to have lunch. It is peaceful and very beautiful.

Amazing museum! It should be in the top of your list when visiting Lima and you should definitely hire a tour guide given that every bit of information is fascinating! Our tour guide Andrea was so knowledgeable and very friendly. We then went to the restaurant in the museum and the food was amazing! They were able to cater to me given my dietary restrictions (vegan). Melissa, our server was the highlight of the night! She was so nice and professional. She really made the experience that much better. In summary: - Don't leave Lima without getting a guided tour of the museum - The staff is fantastic - Would be a romantic thing to do with a partners - Cater to dietary restrictions, including veganism

Great to visit with a guide. The museum has over 45,000 pieces of art. In 1hr, we saw the highlights and had a nice tour with local guide Sandra. One member of our OAT tour group opted to stay and spend more time. I've included photos of beautiful restaurant/bar which is on museum grounds. The gardens surrounding this former home are spectacular and well maintained. LANTANA cascades over the walls. Worth a visit...it has English Descriptions too.

What an interesting historical museum. The artifacts are exceptional well preserved with multiple languages of explanations. To go through the entire museum can take up to 2 hours if you read each and every fact. There is even a short video presentation that you can watch. Even the gift shop was a highlight as you can take home a replica of such amazing art and jewelry.

Worth visiting. Impressive collection. Very informative. The main entrance is facing Parque Larco. A souvenir shop is located at the main gate. There is a steep climb that would lead you to the ticket counter and reception. There is a restaurant within the museum located at the other lower side of the museum. Consist of 3 galleries- the permanent exhibit with detailed pre columbian displays, the visible storage, and the erotic gallery. The erotic gallery is a bit separated from the two, and is located beside the restaurant below. The food at the restaurant was very good but a bit expensive. Has a beautiful garden and landscaping. You might heard some insect sound and birds chirping but is just recorded for the ambiance. One of the most impressive and memorable museum I visited.

For every historical piece that makes into the permanent exhibition, there are hundreds similar items sitting on the shelf in the back room collecting dust. Human memory hard drive has very limited space. Most are buried, forgotten, or never discovered. Millenniums of history from thousands BC to Colonial times are shown in these rather crowded rooms, inspiring us to imagine life in the long gone past on this ancient land. Interesting to see human sacrifices depictions, and DON’T miss the EROTIC museum after you finish the main exhibition. The flowers in the courtyards are beautiful- must be very old plants. It’s a private museum and the size is very modest - but still very fun to see.

Amazing place to spend a great time learning about the Inca culture and relaxing time at the restaurant/cafe. Special attention to Israel, the waiter who not only does his job amazingly but his carisma and friendliness made us to feel welcome and relaxed. A very comprehensive showcase of all the cultures that come before Spanish invasion. Not all of the descriptions has English translations but it should not be a problem for none Spanish speakers to understand most of the background. The most interesting of course is the erotic section of the wing. Fascinating stuff. 😉

Especially if you are new to the history of Peru, you'll be able to spend some hours here. Interesting collection with descriptions in multiple languages. The descriptions are mostly generic about the periods, cultures and the type of things that are depicted, but not too much details on individual items. There's a large storage which you can also visit. Overall a good experience and friendly service.

Outstanding museum, highly recommended. See scheduled guided walks...highly recommend the guides; knowledge and courtesy. Orfalina was my guide...she was AWESOME. There is a restaurant inside ...pricey and needs a reservation, it was full when I was there. There are options nearby..a block or so. Visit erotic gallery....nice but expensive gift shop. Excellent service...they pack delicate gifts in bubble wrap.

A very interesting museum. We spent about 2 hours here but could have spent more of our tour guide wasnt rushing us. Almost all items have descriptions in at least 4 languages, Spanish, English, French and German. A guide is not needed but it's helpful and faster than reading all the descriptions and figuring it out piece by piece. The restaurant had great food!

Beautiful plaza with great restaurants around it. Go there at late afternoon and stay till Night time to see the square light up. Visit all the other things around like San Francisco cathedral and others.

Lima itself isn't the most romantic or fantastic city, but the Plaza is a different story. A must see if you're in Lima.

A very well kept Square with its beautiful historical buildings. Peru was occupied by Spanish for a good three hundreds years who built a lot of beautiful buildings in this desert area of Peru. Although the Spanish have gone a long time ago but Peruvian authorities have kept these buildings in tip top condition which draw a lot of locals as well as foreign tourists who bring in a lot of foreign exchange. 👍✌👌

Stunning architecture. We were there on St. Peter and St. Paul's day on June 29. The street surrounding the square and the square itself was full of families having fun on this inpmrtant festival day.

Worth visiting. Surrounded by beautiful buildings. A nice place to take pictures. Has different of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Many of chifa restaurants options. Lots of vultures flying around. Police are stationed around. Roads within the square are close to traffic

Well, it's a beautiful square but I guess in the wrong place. I didn't feel like in Peru at all. I felt like in Spain. Of course, it is part of history but I just disagree with the colonization ideas around the whole world. So the square is nice with that Spanish architecture but it just looks to me like a strawberry on the top of a beef steak. Both are delicious but not tasty together. Thank you 💙

This was definitely a highlight. The square has closed down the streets to walk through like a shopping centre. I would definitely recommend going at night time to see it lit up. It felt very safe as well as they have national and local police everywhere. There is also local guides that speak English to help you out if you need to get somewhere!

This is a must visit area when you get to Lima Peru. The colonial architecture is unique in its gender. There are also colossal churches that have decor back to colonial period.

Had a wonderful experience here with our tour guide. It is an active spot with lots of tourists. Our guide explained the purposes of the buildings around the square, and we had interesting discussions with local Peruvians.

The tour lasts approximately 1.5 hours with a tour guide who will explain the history of the site and the people who inhabited in it to the group. Our guide was very attentive and answered any and all questions we threw her way. I certainly recommend this tour for anyone staying a couple of days in Lima. Entrance is inexpensive (less than $20 soles from what I remember, and kids & elderly have steep discounts). You must make reservations in the website and pay via cash or card at the site. Take comfortable and closed-toe shoes and a mask. *yes, there are Llamas and Alpacas but you cannot touch them *

We were able to visit it a weekday without a reservation. Our time slot given for the toured entry was within half 20 min of our arrival so we were able grab a coffee nearby beforehand. Went with a the little ones who really enjoyed the mummy burial pots, llamas, and the view from the top.

Not ADA though. Very friendly tour guide. They have live alpaca and Llama in the flora and fauna section. Very educational tour. Took approximately 30 minutes. We walked from Larcomar and it took us around 40 minutes walking at a good pace. Taxis available outside. Busy restaurant on the property as well. Restrooms available. A few souvenirs available as well.

Couldn't register on-line, and as soon as I sent them an email, they replied. We were booked for an English tour the following day. The tour lasts an hour which is a perfect time frame to keep any kid entertained. The guide spoke perfect English and the tour was quite fascinating. Absolutely worth it!

It is a pre-inca pyramid, seems very nice to do the tour, but you should book in advance! Since I had not booked the tour and there was no more space for that day, the lady was very kind and allowed me to go inside part of the area to have a better view!

Underrated gem. They want you to make a reservation the day before and join a guided tour group. You can usually join an existing group. The guides are nice, but the pace of info was on the slower side. The small museum with relics inside is astronomical. It's a must see if you're in Lima.

Only 1 English tour per day and you can only enter with a tour guide, must make a reservation in advance. Wish we had known! It looks super cool from the outside. Ended up reading about it online and getting a feel for it beyond the gates.

A Mall located at Miraflores neighborhood Lima municipality Capital of Peru. Very pleasant place where you can find many types of shops, restaurants, decor shops, bank services, bakery, etc… With a wonderful sightseeing you can choose your seat and have a very pleasant time in front of the sea, with a good time for relax.

I absolutely love the way this mall is laid out. The view is beautiful against the coast, and the concept of a below-ground mall that’s still open air is amazing! I also love the modern vibes in general, from the decorations to the stores. There are so many great food options too. It’s also great that they check your vaccination status before entering—definitely makes me feel more safe!

This such a beautiful shopping center, with impressive views of the Pacific Ocean that are very breathtaking. A good variety of shops provide a great shopping experience. It also features great restaurants with a great selection of food. Easy to park and easy to access.

I love the fact that this outdoor mall is right on the beach 🏝️ the view, the clarity, the fresh air, the cleaning, the security, the concept, the stores are worth the trip. There’s a movie theater, underground garage and location is very accessible.

Larcomar Is one of the nicest places to visit in Miraflores. It is a small shopping mall with a great view and super atmosphere, good restaurants and some nice stores to browse. It is right on the coast and most restaurants have a stunning view of the ocean. A view which is beautiful day or night. It is safe to walk at night. Really enjoyed it.

It is a nice shopping area/mall. Almost all the major brands are there, plus cinema and gym and restuarant. I particularly like it for its local and the view to the ocean. You can see occasional paragliders surfing the sky on top of you. Definitely recommend even if it is just for visiting after your walk in Melacan.

It was Good Friday today and a good place to visit. A lot of activity because a lot of people didn’t have to work today. It was great to see people out, enjoying themselves, being with their families, friends, and a lot of people with dogs. This place is lively, full of shopping and restaurants. The views are the best part. I WOULD RECOMMEND

I'm a history nut - the rest of our group, not so much. It was my day to choose an excursion - so I chose the catacombs. Turned out the entire group (only 4 of us, but we travel extensively) were awed. The church to the catacombs to the surrounding area. Well worth the visit! Always try local!

The most amazing part of this is that it is both a museum and active convent! This dates from the colonial ages, and the architecture is just breathtaking! Words cannot describe, I saw go check it out!

I visited during the World cup 2023 finals. The entrance to the tours is on the left of the main church. Tours are conducted in both English and Spanish, and no photography is allowed. I had to wait for about 45 minutes before a guide was available (world cup final, extra time, penalties etc) and ended up getting a private tour which was great ! This was my first time visiting any catacomb and I didn't realize that this was the main form of Christian Burial for a long time. The art work inside the monastery is stunning and the monastery remains active with monks and priests residing on premise. At the time of my visit there was ongoing construction in front of the Church.

If you are Catholic it is especially awe inspiring. You cannot take pictures in the convent and catacombs, and for good reason -Many of the paintings and artifacts date to the 16th century and previous tourists apparently didn't get NO FLASH, so now that privilege has been removed. Also The well of bones which was really constructed centuries ago for earthquake purposes, is NOT a wishing well, throwing COINS in particular DAMAGES the bones. If you want to be generous to the Friars and the workers who have to fish your trinkets out, use dollars. You can take pictures in the Basilica that still conducts regular Mass and Service all these centuries later. Note there is a lot of restoration going on at this time of my visit.

The monastery was beautiful, and the Cedarwood is amazing. Catacombs 30,000+…. The history was great. It is in the basement of Saint Francisco Monastery, loved our tour guide. I WOULD RECOMMEND

Awesome restaurant! Upscale and ample place, since arrival you notice a lot of attention to details (pictures, furniture, etc). All personal are warm and welcoming to everyone. The patio is really something: a nice space for a special dinner. We arrived as walk-ins and got the service at the bar, it really didn't bother us at all. We tried several recommended dishes from the menu as suggested by our server: the food was amazing.

I just ate here this afternoon. The service was fantastic, lovely people working there. The food tasted fantastic, and the wine pairing was excellent as well as the cocktails we ordered. Unfortunately, something must have been undercooked because I got food poisoning from eating here today as it's the only thing I've eaten today. Really unfortunate since everything was so great up until this point.

Food was fantastic but would have been nice to know more about ingredients used in each course. Flavors, etc. Waiter was rushing us through. Often tried to pick up my plate before I was done. Maybe because it was New Years Eve, and they had to get done quickly. Perhaps they should have planned menu with fewer courses, instead of rushing our eating.

I was amazed by the punch of flavors and deliciousness of the food. We had several dishes here to try a little bit of everything, and everything was fantastic! The service was great too, with a lot of attention and great recommendations. the drinks were awesome too! Try to make your reservation with plenty of time, since they are always booked. if you cannot get a dinner reservation, try the late lunch (that's what we did), it will be totally worth it!

Peru 🇵🇪 2023 Restaurant extremely overrated. Not sure why anyone would eat here twice. Once is enough. The restaurant itself was absolutely beautiful. Every room itself was a work of art. Whoever designed this restaurant did a fantastic job. Wine list had plenty of options including single glass options. Single glass options were very expensive though. I am a wine drinker I can't remember a restaurant where the glass of wine cost the same as entree. Makes no sense. Beef tenderloin the exact same price as house red wine. The rice was delicious. I can compare their rice to Hong Kong street fried rice. The kind of rice you have to line up for 30 minutes just to eat. Order the rice if you go. Perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Argentinian Steak was super chewy. Every steak I've ordered in Peru has been very chewy. Maybe that's how Peruvian steak is but for me all other meats were easier to eat. Mid level restaurants in Guatemala and El Salvador even had less chewy beef. Don't order steak in Peru! Their bread basket looked as if it should be on some painting. Look at my pics. Different tastes. Textures. Flavors. Perfect presentation. The bread was incredible. Service was extremely slow HOWEVER every table in every room was filled so I understand service could be slow with that many people. I'm realistic. Maybe come here for lunch but one experience here should be enough.

Amazing restaurant, beautiful setting. Unusually creative menu, absolutely delicious food. One of the best restaurants we've visited. We were lucky to get a last-minute reservation. The 5 spice duck was especially good.

The “Top 50 List” must be a little dated because my experience was only average. This restaurant is gorgeous (especially from the outside) but the food was mediocre. I have no doubts that Gaston is a genius but the quality of this restaurant has probably gone down since making headlines. On Saturday for lunch, the restaurant had many open reservations, which should’ve been a sign immediately. Best items: Guinea Pig and Catch of the Day Everything else wasn’t that good. The Octopus was especially disappointing. Still, service was phenomenal. My server was so kind and helpful, recommending dishes for me to try and being so attentive to my every move.

The tasting menu is the best and well put together menu I have ever experienced. The alcohol pairings make cohesive sense with each individual dish. While I didn't necessarily like every dish, each dish was carefully prepared and had layers of flavor that i could appreciate. The dishes that i did like were very very good. The whole experience was over 3 hours and was a very enjoyable highlight to our trip to peru.

Amazing! This palace is huge, and has a welcoming ambiance. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to try the authentic local foods. Everything we ordered was delicious 😋, the customer services was also top notch. Don’t skip the freshly baked bread basket, its so buttery, toasty and it melt in your mouth. Oh we also tried the famous donuts 😝, tasty!

My favorite traditional Peruvian restaurant! This is where my now wife took me on our first date, where she ordered 3 traditional dishes to share and we had a few flavors of pisco sours. We try to come here for our last meal every time we leave Peru for an extended period of time so that we have the best Peruvian food before we leave. We've been numerous times, and everything is delicious. I always recommend this to friends, family and strangers. A must visit!

Had an amazing dinner, staff are awesome and the food is on another level. We had the shared appetizer to start. Then we each had our own dish which are humongous portions. We will share next time but we also had a lot to take home.

Really good restaurant in the heart of Miraflores. The servings are VERY generous and the price is just right. We ordered a shareable starter and 1 plate each. You can see from the photos the plates are ginormous! Wanted to order the cibetche but unfortunately they were all out by the time we arrived but didn't regret the plates we ordered. We only had time today to try this place because our tour itinerary will be pretty busy the following days so I'm glad that we were able to do so - must-try place at least once when you're around the area!

This is a Lima classic!! I went here with some friends that live in Lima and it was highly praised. The service was ok, not the best. But the food in the other hand was amazing. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and interior decor. The pesto pasta was sooooo good (Peruvian staple) I the recommend ordering the festival platter which will allow you to try different classic Peruvian appetizer. This platter was absolutely outstanding and so well put together.

Another great option in Lima. Cozy vibe, beautiful decoration and a great menu with different option to try the Peruvian cuisine. Also go for their drinks, amazing choice and mix of flavours. In terms of food, you cannot go wrong. Everything I tried was delicious.

This place is incredible! A must visit in Lima. The ambience is great, staff is welcoming and the food is to die for. I specifically recommend the Pastel de Choclo (not pictured) and the grilled chicken. They have a great menu, you can't go wrong with any of their delicious dishes. I had an amazing time here! There portions are very generous so be careful with how much you order! My favourite dish was the starter it is the stuffed pepper absolutely delicious! The staff was very helpful and spoke some English!

It makes sense to be one of the top 50 restaurants in the world. The Nikkei Experience we had was fantastic! Great variety of flavours, texture, and design of the food with local products we are definitely not used to have. All bring a unique and sustainable food experience. We also very much enjoy the happy attitude of the waiters that will warmly welcome you in tune as well as when you leave. If I had to guess why not everyone don't put a 5 star review, I imagine that would be because the name of the restaurant does not appear on the building, the light inside is dim (so it takes a bit of time to adjust), the bathroom is ok but not great which is a bit surprising for such restaurant.

14 courses total; we liked probably half or a little bit more than half of the dishes. Some dishes were a bit too strong/salty for us. A couple of the dishes really stood out. One was a duck appetizer and the other was sushi topped with foie gras. The scallop dish was pretty good too. Each course’s presentation was wonderful. Our server was very professional but we couldn’t really feel the “warmth” that some reviews mentioned. It was a bit strange that quite many servers were standing by the bar while other servers were super busy.

Truly a unique and dazzling experience. The flavor combinations, textures, and visuals are unlike anything I've ever experienced. The service was impeccable; the staff really knew how to take care of you. They also did an excellent job at explaining the courses and how to consume them. It's a hefty price tag, but in the context of being a lifetime experience it is 100% worth it.

If you are reading this, this is your sign to get a table at Maido. During my last days in Lima, my friend and I managed to book a reservation here and we experienced one of the best meals we’ve ever had. I would truly define this meal as an experience because the diner truly gets to create their own interpretations of each dish. This is the result of the unique-ness of each dish in the 12-course tasting menu.The smooth textures, bold flavors, and workings of contrasting elements made this meal extremely interesting. Each course surprised us and kept us on our toes. The chef truly welcomes you on a dollar coaster of flavors with each bite. Before coming in, I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’m usually against following things like Michelin stars and other renowned “lists,” but I can see why Maido is so well-respected in the culinary world. That being said, the best way to come here as a diner is to be as humble as possible. Be open to the chef’s vision and don’t come in with expectations of traditional Japanese food. And make sure to have fun during the meal!

Reservation Experience: I inquired about reservations in February and was informed that the reservations only open 45 days in advance so I made the reservation for the Nikkei Experience in April. The staff is quick to respond and is detailed with their information. We noted diet restrictions that were duly noted and confirmed upon arrival. Location: Maido is located in the Miraflores district and was a quick walk away from our hotel. The restaurant is at a corner and does not have a name plate so quite humble and minimalistic. The location was a bit noisy due to construction across the street but Maido has soundproof door so you won’t hear a thing. Dining experience: When we arrived around 12:50PM, there was already a long line of patrons waiting outside. As the clock turned 1:00PM, all guests were promptly welcomed in and greeted to check in. Then, you follow the staff up a flight of stairs and shown to your seat. The ambience was dark but lit at your table. The servers were tentative and always ready to help/take orders. The main server will present every dish and show you how to eat the dish. There was a demonstration of the Toro slicing and the torching of a few dishes. Food taste: The 11 course meal was great. The flavors were different and tasty. I think the meal was particularly fitting for me due to the influence of an Asian cuisine onto Peruvian traditional taste. The seafood was fresh, especially the course with crab meat and scallop. Overall, the meal was well-balanced and the umami flavor was there in most of the dishes. I would have loved to return to try their a la carte menu dishes but due to no availability, it will have to wait for a returning trip. The cost for two tasting menu was 998 Soles and then added drinks and tips came out to about 1200 Soles.

Went for the Nikkei experience and it’s the best nikkei I’ve had. It is considered the best Japanese Restaurant according to the Top 50 World Restaurants list. I would disagree with that BUT don’t underestimate the quality of Maido. Going in we were welcomed with a loud warm “welcome” in Japanese, which already made me feel like I was in my Japan home. There is an a la carte menu but went for the experience since we wanted to try a bit of everything. There were some courses better than others but overall it was an amazing balance. It might not look a lot but it will satisfy you fully. The drinks were towards the stronger side even when we chose the sweeter ones, but still very tasty. One small complaint I would have would be the staff could often be cold, especially the one who served us. I accepted since the courses were going well and I was in a good mood too. But they should be a bit more aware of it, especially if I am paying that price and always planning to tip. The environment was cozy and not loud at all. Very casual and great for a date night or even for a casual lunch. Stop by if you are in Lima looking for a Nikkei restaurant.

Superb food but lacking the full service and sense of warmth to match the price and hype. Drink painting was just OK and should have focused more on local producers. We had the Nikkei experience and overall was delicious but only a few dishes outstanding. Room is a bit crowded but never noisy. Overall absolutely worth it but the lack of coherent service and flourishes keep it from getting a top rating.

We had a really great dinner at Maido. The Nikkei experience is just the right amount of food and is a great way to see what the restaurant has to offer. The snacks were my favourite part and the menu got a bit weaker as it went on, with dessert being the least “special”, but I’m just being extremely picky. The whole meal and wine pairing end-to-end was a great experience and I highly recommend giving it a try.

Foodies must see place in Lima. Delicious sushi, amazing flavor combinations and spot on service. The recommendations of the waiter were perfect!

Grilled octopus was excellent. They kept forgetting my drink though so had a meal with nothing to sip on. So despite the excellent food and really nice waiters I'll have to give it 3 stars for failing to complete my order and having to eat with no beverage despite follow up also no record of my reservation despite having booked. Need to get their act together on a few things

Excellent high end seafood restaurant, can be busy during lunch and empty for dinner. I came here for dinner and didn't need a reservation, but you might for lunch. A little bit pricey but the food is delicious and high quality. Should be considered as one of the high quality restaurants in Lima.

My first stop while in Peru and I was delighted by the amazing taste of the dishes that we tried 🙃my personal favorite was the ceviche 😋muy bueno. People that work there were super attentive and the place and location are great!

Nice place, have been going there for years. Lately quality seems a bit lower than usual - todays chicharrón de calamar was heavily salted. Tuesday no valet parking (!) dusty parking only - leave your lady at the door and go looking for a parking spot 👎🏽 - don’t forget to clean your shoes 🧽 afterwards.

Maybe the most delicious fish dishes I’ve had in my life. Perfectly seasoned! Accompanied with pisco sours everything was just wonderful. The location is very nice but way too cold - sorry but not that enjoyable to sit and freeze. Piscos help a bit ;) The desserts are also irresistible, highly recommended if you enjoy very sweet stuff.

Excellent Sea Food, recommend to focus on traditional Peruvian Sea Food from “Cevicherias” and I would avoid others as the “Avaricia” (kind of Chifa /Fried fish and Veggies). the Tiradito, Ceviches, the Pulpo al Olivo and Conchas a la Parmesana were absolutely amazing!! Go for them (See Photos). The Suspiro Limeño is a no miss with a good Espresso to close the experience
