Most Loving Kandy & Kandy Lake, Finally we were able to identify some ecological interactions, threats and some sensitive points that our attention should be paid.

This lake was built by the last king of Kandy in year 1812. Today it is probably the most beautiful lake in Sri Lanka. A boat ride service is available. Many stories and lengends exist about this lake. One such is the secret underwater tunnel from the kings palace to the picturesque little island in the middle of the lake.

Pleasant atmosphere and view. A must visit place for couples who can spend some romantic moments together. A lot of tourists, mostly the tourists, were spotted in this location. The outside market was worth viewing for shopping enthusiasts.

Beautifully situated in the heat of Kandy! Nice to walk around in the evening especially. Be ware of tons and tons of birds in the trees above who will poop on you, if the path is empty, it’s a sign not to walk there yet! Superb ambience but a little packed and dirty.

Actions are taken to reduce the water pollution but still eutrophication is noticeable. Good place to walk around during the evening. But during the day time it is somewhat crowded. Safety wise I would say for tourists good safety measures are there

One of Most Beautiful Place in Kandy. The Road is Minimums for one Vehicle one Time.. You can see the 360⁰ View from The bottom of temple.. There is upstairs to Bottom of The Idol. To my mind this is the Largest Idol in Kandy Town. You can put your Slippers bags etc from the Down. There is the shop for that Service. Also Safe and Have a Beautiful Travel❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful place to visit in Kandy. The views are spectacular and the environment is so serene! You can get a 360 degree view of Kandy from here. The access road is a bit narrow, but is accessible by any small vehicle including a van.

Such a an incredible place to see the scenic view of Kandy. You can go there with Tuk Tuk. Good to go in the evening. Just like other places in Sri Lanka, you can't wear short, if you do, you can cover with a rope they give you. And you do need to pay a little for entering there. Behind the Buddha, there's stair to go up there to see the view of Kandy city from above.

Fantastic place, very serene and quite. More authentic then most other Buddha’s. Highly recommended to visit via a Tuktuk city tour. Small entry fee of 300rs only and not very strict regarding clothes.

At first it looks like it's just a massive Buddha statue, but once you are inside, there is a lot to explore. It wasn't too crowded and the place is really well maintained. There's also a great view if you take the time to climb the various staircases throughout the grounds. Definitely go if you are in Kandy.

In Kandy, Sri Lanka, this temple is home to the largest sitting Buddha statue. You must take off your sandals before entering the temple, and women must cover their knees and elbows. When we went, there was a 300 LKR entrance fee. On top of the mountain, where the temple is located, there is a lovely view and a serene atmosphere.

I visited Sri Maha Bodhi Maha Viharaya during my trip to Kandy and I was amazed by the giant Buddha statue that overlooks the city. The statue is 26.83 meters high and depicts Buddha in the meditation pose. It is one of the tallest Buddha statues in Sri Lanka and a symbol of peace and harmony. The temple is located on a hill called Bahirawakanda, which means "Gnome Mountain". According to legend, the hill was once inhabited by an evil gnome that ate humans, but the villagers appeased it by making sacrifices. Thankfully, those days are long gone and now the hill is a serene and sacred place. The temple is only 2 kilometers from the Temple of the Tooth Relic, which is another must-see attraction in Kandy. I removed my shoes and hat and entered the temple premises. The statue was impressive from every angle and I felt a sense of awe and reverence. I climbed up the stairs behind the statue and enjoyed the panoramic view of Kandy city. It was especially beautiful at night, when the city lights twinkled like stars. I highly recommend visiting Sri Maha Bodhi Maha Viharaya if you are in Kandy. It is a spiritual and cultural experience that you will not forget.

If you're about to see Kandy town as a whole picture one of the greatest places to visit is this Arthur's seat, most of the time this place is crowded but the view is really amazing.

Scenic view point where you can see the kandy lake and surroundings. You can also see the temple of tooth relic. This place is really good to take photographs with in Kandy town as the background. Parking is available on roadside fulfill vehicles, but you can park your vehicle a bit far and walk to the location. Viewpoint is protected by a fence which will ensure kids do not fall to the abyss.

Beautiful view point in Kandy. It has beautiful views of the city including the Dalada Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth). It is easily accessible by any vehicle as it's situated on the side of a main road. It gets a bit crowded due to it's popularity.

Very close to the Kandy city. Very beautiful view of the Sri Dalada Maligawa and the city. If visit in a sunny day in the morning or evening, will be more amazed. Only little problem is Parking, but for a tourist, it doesn't matter. There is a nicely built platform for use, and little seating... cannot access wheel chair, need to lift.

Kandy viewpoint (Arthur's seat) is one of the famous tourist place in Kandy. This scenic location is located just 1km southwest of the Sri Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic) . The viewpoint is situated at an elevation of 550M (1804ft) above sea level. It offers panoramic view of kandy lake, The Sri Dalada Maligawa (The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic), and the city center. According to local folklore, there was a bungalow owned by Mr. Arthur, a British tea planter, situated above the viewpoint, who used to view kandy on a stone seat under a tree in front of his bungalow. Based on this story, this place is called Arthur's seat viewpoint.

Wonderful place to visit and get to know about our country tea production in old days. And they have some old day machines and some communication devices that they used those days. A good place to visit with family and children's. It has 5 floors and at the top floor you'll provided tea for tasting and they have store whare you can buy different kinds of tea powder with special flavor tea leaves.

The museum is located in a heritage building. It is five stories tall and constructed out of timber. I loved the heritage feel and the exhibits ranging from the late 19th century. Cafe at the top floor offers a free strong black tea for tasting. We can also buy other varieties of tea for a price. Tea Thali is a set of seven different teas offered for LKR 1000. Overall it was a memorable and pleasant experience.

They displayed variety of old machineries used for tea industry nicely on three floors. Can taste different types of tea at the top floor and buy various tea samples. Tea prices are higher than expected place like this.

At the first glance I thought it was just a place with a lot of machinery and equipment and nothing much to look at. But yes there are machines and other things but more than that they give us knowledge about how the things happen in a tea factory with a demonstration from a small scale exhibition model factory. They have sampled most of the tea which are produced in Sri Lanka for every market segment of the world. The premises are maintained quite good. A fee will be charged (Rs. 200/- at the time) for the entrance and at the end of the factory tour you will be given a free Black tea cup to taste.

Excellent tea museum give insight to production of tea in 19th century & till now. The person explained everything in detail very professionally with help of oldest machines. Had a chance to taste various tea & bought some tea bags as well. Worth a visit. Must visit when you are in Kandy.

It is a very good place to learn and know about tea processing and the history of tea leaves, there is a tea stall so you can buy various types of tea products from the tea restaurant you can have a cup of Ceylon tea. If you wish to try other tea products you have to pay, you must visit this place if you ever drink a sip of tea in your life.

This place is on high elevation. It's on top of a hill and quite cooling. The staff gave very detailed description on the process of the tea factory. There's 5 floors and the lift is not working. Each floor has different things like one floor only showcased teapots, ground floor only the tea equipment and top floor is where you buy and try some tea. Plenty of carpark space.

Nice place, its a Tea factory which has now been converted to a Tea museum. The difference being that it has some very old machinery and stuff dating back to 1880's. There are some 4 to 5 floors and each floor has something to offer. On the top floor is the tea shop and when you reach there, they offer you a hot cup of black tea. My daughter is a tea lover and she enjoyed the visit.

Great place to learn about tea processing. No restaurant there only tea (you get a cup for each ticket holder). Lacking the story of the tamil workers shipped by British occupation to work the fields and why.... do not understand why they hide the crimes ...

It’s a must place to visit if you are visiting to Kandy. It’s just 4km far from kandy city center. For locals it’s only LKR 100/per person. On our visits they explain about the tea productions and also can see some rare old day tea machineries. They do have a tea stall where you can buy tea packets for discounts and also you can get free plain tea/ milk tea/ ice tea (each ticket holders) with a beautiful view.

About 400m away from hanthana bird park, you could visit both places without taking a ride. You can park about 10 vehicles close by the museum. Tickets were 200rps and at the time of our visit,we were entitled to a free fresh tea( black tea). Has tea related machinery, a bit of history, and at the top, there is a discounted tea shop and a small canteen with all sorts of tea.

A oldest historical place in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Ceylon Tea Meuseum is the knowledge garden of tea production, how the Srilankans people struggled for producing tea using unique techniques. Authority have shown their greatest hospitality for the visitors. They have appointed good presenters to share knowledge about this garden & how they spread their business all over the world.

We visited there recently on our trip to Kandy. It was well maintained and easy to access. I suggest you to go there before 12 noon on weekdays.If the gates closed ask the nearest building so they will come and show you around. There’s the tombs of then governor’s wife , John Doyle, the founder of Cargills group , the elephant hunter who died from a thunder light and others. There’s tomb from aged three months to elders. There’s approximately 150 tombs and more than 400 people burried there.Such a calm and quiet place.

One of the must visit places for any tourist visiting Kandy. The bodies of many famous imperialists who lived during the British colonial period are buried here. If you are interested in Sri Lankan history, this is a great place for you to learn something new.

We could not go into the cemetery because it was closed pending maintenance due to a collapsed wall. Hope it gets restored soon and opened to the public. There is a small museum with some old photos and such managed by a nice person who was kind enough to share some trivia with us.

Very nice area with a pretty view and monkeys. There is a brilliant and very nice guide with detailed stories on almost every tomb! Definitely a must see for Kandy! (Plus it was visited by King Charles) When we got there, the gate was closed but you should check at the museum before leaving just in case.

Absolutely fascinating place, throwing you back to 19th century. Cemetery keeper is extremely nice guy who can tell a bunch of interesting stories. You have to consider visiting a little museum at keeper’s house as well

Located just a short walk away from The Temple of the Sacred Tooth, entering the British Garrison Cemetery is like entering another world. I don’t mean leaving the world of the living, but a world of calm and quiet. More likely than not, you will be the only visitor and you can walk around the grounds reading the tombstones and discovering what life might have been like for the 195 people buried there. During your time at the cemetery you will in all likelihood meet the young caretaker of the cemetery Harsha. He is very knowledgeable about everything that is there in the cemetery and can guide you through the tombstones sharing information about each. The British Garrison Cemetery in Kandy is maintained by The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC).

Nice place to get a cold beer and grab a fried eggplant dish. Also has a nice panoramic view. People here are smoking. You can pay with card. Good toilets and free parking.

Location was a bit challenging to get up to In our tuktuk, road was a but rough. Inside is nice and clean, bathrooms were spotless. Service was fantastic and food was very good, the best burgers I had in Sri Lanka. My husband's chicken soup could have had more flavor, but had tons of noodles and chicken. Nice sunset view as well, definitely worth the stop👍

Visited it. The restaurant was nearly empty, but still we waited for nearly 1.5 hours to have our food. Only one person serving / taking orders / cashing out / cleaning. Food was OK, but very spicy. Take into consideration that L size is REALLY big, so for two persons one L meal should be fine. Prices are fair, restrooms and decorations are nice for Sri Lanka.

The place is located on the left side of the road when you’re traveling from kandy direction. There’s a road leading up towards the hill and at the end of the road the café is located. Not too busy at night a great place to chill and have a beer. Many food items are available like rice, burgers, different cocktails noodles, and many other stuff. Staff is friendly and fully served quickly. The view overlooks. Parking is available for around 10 vehicles. Food portions are large and well worth the money. We had a great evening out as part of our trip to Sri Lanka. It was a special occasion and the service was fantastic. Food was great. The menu was long and I was worried they wouldn't do everything well, but all of our food was excellent. Not to mention some great cocktails!

This place is amazing! The food is delicious, the staff is helpful, attentive, and friendly. Michael the owner was awesome! He sat down and got to know us and even bought us a couple drinks. He is a genuinely good person who made sure every customer felt welcome and got exactly what they wanted. The Spicy cuddle fish appetizer, sizzling fish, and eggplant dishes were my favorite. The views of the lake and city were incredible. This is THE SPOT in Kandy thanks to the overall atmosphere, food, and service. We returned every night after our first visit! I can't emphasize enough how great this place is. Please do yourself the favor of choosing Slightly chilled for dinner and drinks. You will not be disappointed!

Great view from restaurant. Staff are very friendly and polite. From 5pm to 6pm there's a happy hour for an alcoholic drinks. There is a lot of food positions. And today was amazing sunset.

Best place in kandy for nightlife. Great tunes and great vibes. Amazing food also, best Chinese food I’ve ever had. Friendly bar staff and the owner is an absolute legend. My trip to kandy would’ve been very different if I didn’t stop by. Michael gave me many tips for eating around town and places to go and see. If you don’t come here on your trip to kandy you’re letting yourself down!

Happy hour 5-6pm on alcoholic drinks, as the sun begins to set on the balcony. Sun sets about half 6. Food was very nice and good portion sizes. Spoke to the owner, who was very friendly and gave recommendations for other places in Kandy and Sri Lanka.

Foods are tasty and biggest issue is it's hard to find a table here. Due high footfall there always a queue. 1st you are required to place your order through country and then they will deliver the food to your table. When you placing the order, they will give a number with a stand, keep that stand on your table so once the food is prepared waiter will find your table with that number and deliver it. Washroom is available at 1st floor. Washroom are 2/5. Not pleasant. You can park your vehicle in front of the hotel but most of the time parking is restricted. Food price also reasonable.

Only serves authentic vegetarian food here, the outlet sells some Indian sweets as well. Had an 'uttapam' and idli for breakfast. The food is taste good but comes with very limited chutney varieties. Anyhow I like the milk tea. The shop is very clean, had an ample of seating area at ground and 1st floor for customers..

Place might get packed on weekends but got enough space to for at least 100 people. The food is good and they got their own stuff such as mini idly. Place is very clean and nice and The service team is very good. No dedicated parking but you can park in the road based on the availability. If you are a local you may not gonna get balcony seats since they kinda make they available for foreigners.

Fantastic place to eat some favourite South Indian and Sri lankan style vegetarian food. After long walk through in kandy, we found this place busy and rush, yet got upstairs very quiet, clean place with wonderful service. Food is well balanced with spice, first seem portion is not enough but is more than we expected for our ordinary hunger after long walk. We try to find a five star restuarent, and we not disappointed by their service and food. One star is less, as they need to improve more in cleaning and organised the way people been served. Thinking current situation in Srilanka its understandable because people look for cheaper option, but I would say we got more than we paid.

A good place to experience a truly Indian Dosai in Kandy, Sri Lanka. The food was well prepared and the service was so quick and friendly. The atmosphere is so good and the cleanliness is so high. Prices are a bit high but worth every penny that I spent on it.

My last visit was disappointed with my experience. Although I had good experiences in the past, my recent visit was a letdown. The dosas were overcooked and the quality was low. Additionally, the service was poor and did not meet my expectations. As a regular customer, it's important to receive consistent quality and service, which was lacking during my visit. I hope that Balaji Dosai can take this feedback seriously and improve the quality of their food and service standards. I believe that they can regain their reputation as a reliable dosa shop in Kandy if they make the necessary changes.

A pure vegetarian Udupi style outlet for Indian food in Kandy. I would suggest to have the food their it self instead of ordering to your hotel. Price and quality of food is really awesome and its located near to temple of tooth Kandy.

Very poor customer service ! I request a beef Kabul from there down stairs cafeteria and the waiter told that it might take time therefore go to the upstairs. When I ordered same from upstairs the upstairs waiter asked me to go to downstairs. I have complained the cashier/ area manager this regards. If you are too lazy to surve some of the dishes mentioned in the so called menue please remove them from menue or do not hire lazy waiters. Poor customer service. Do not recommend.

It's been my first time in Kandy and I asked a local for a restaurant recommendation to try local food and I went for it. I loved the dishes I tried. Quick service and the staff are really nice. Affordable prices. I Might come back before I leave!

We Ordered Chicken Cheese Kottu, because most of the Kandian people said this hotel was superb for the Cheese Kottu. But it was a horrible and just ordinary Kottu. Not even cheesy mixed well with milk. They Just put on the Cheese triangle inside the Kottu. Small pieces of chicken inside the kottu, Not a spicy and taste at all. We spend Rs.1050 for this Chicken Cheese Kottu was not worth it for money in this kind of situation in the Country. Tables and floor are was not cleaned, and there were waiters more than the customers. Firewood smoke was all over the restaurant we cannot stay comfortably and enjoy the meals that we ordered. There was Good recommendation reviews few years ago but not currently. we also not recommended.

This place has been in business for a very long time and can get busy specially during the lunch time. There were many waiters on duty so the service was very fast. Tables were cleaned instantly after a customer left. Tried the chicken biryani. Price was okay but it lacked the flavours and spices of a proper biryani.

My bf and I ordered 1/4 chicken biryani and chicken and cheese Kabul. The biryani was cold, the chicken was also cold and dry. However, the kabul was good as it was freshly made. The staff was attentive. My advice is not to order biryani.

The food is delicious and they have many options to order for breakfast or lunch. The milk tea is very good but it’s a bit cold.

After many years I have return to try some of those favourites in this restaurant, very much disappointed. I want add this is as a current political and economical situation but place itself falli g apart and losing its credibility. Ordered Buriyaani and fried rice, but buriyaani isn't buriyaani but just fragrance Spiced rice, fried rice too salty very imbalanced flavour. Very much disappointed. Table service was horrible and the guy struggling to serve us and answered very worrying, yet I had tipped him, as the current economic situation, but not for his service. This is for the owners of the restaurant. This place has a history and pride serving million of people, with greate food. Make sure to bring this pride back.

We had a great family lunch here on our recent visit to Kandy. The food was tasty and the rice and chicken portion was generous. We also had tea and shorteats in late evening. That was also good and enjoyed the experience. Inshallah, next time we are in Kandy, we will definitely come again to try a different food here.

Extremely friendly staff, you can call and preorder your food. Food is of excellent quality and taste, plus their portions are extremely generous. Location is also perfect for family dining or even for couples. Would definitely recommend the place!

Street food when it’s at its best! Great place to go if you need a break from the local cuisine. Nothing fancy, just great food.

We visited the pub to be able to have a nice relaxed evening with some simple food and a beer or two but the waiters were totally uninterested in having us there. No questions about how was the food, no smiles, no nothing. Not even a thank you for your visit when we left, just a get out of here hand gesture. We did not feel welcome at all. The food was decent. The prawns were alright. The set menu with rice and devilled pork was ok, quite spicy. The bathroom didn't have any soap or toilet paper, which in my book is quite odd, specially in a pandemic. We would have stayed for more drinks if the vibe of the place would have been welcoming and friendly. Here we couldn't get out fast enough. The balcony looked nice but the birds were really making a ruckus making it impossible to sit outside. Yeah, nah! Go somewhere else!
