There was some good surf on the beach and onto the lava during our visit. The parking here can be busy and there is a mix of small parking lots and "off the road" parallel style. Be careful as there are some sandy spots and the road is very narrow (one car width close to the beach). There is a coarse sand beach, families with popup covers and tents and a large lava platform with pools. Immediately behind the beach are some sacred area and a nice path through native and invasive plants which are lableled.

We spent 6 days in Kona and only saw one turtle so we came here right before heading to the airport (it's about a 10 minute drive) and had our turtle desires satisfied! We first drove up to the visitors center, where the hike begins. After checking the map we decided to take the shorter path without the hike. To get there you have to drive out of the parking lot and down the road near the harbor. From there it's only a short walk to the beach (about 3-5 minutes). Check the map and it'll show you the alternative route. If you choose to hike in, you would take the path from the visitors center. We ended up spending more time there just watching the turtles swim around and poke their heads up. Please be respectful of the rules and the turtles when visiting. There were people trying to touch the turtles and getting extremely close to them. The reason we have places like this is so we can experience nature and what it has to offer, but that means we should be respectful of their space. There was a park ranger there giving some good information about the turtles, where they came from, and where they go when they leave. Overall a great time learning and seeing green sea turtles! Would highly recommend.

Pack your sunscreen! Or visit on a cloudy day! Lots of hiking here on pretty easy trails. Pleasant beach, but park near the harbor. Water doesn't fall down the mountain like it used to so it's a lunar landscape and hot hot hot around the visitor center, but understanding how Hawaiians used to survive and thrive isn't fully brought to life here but waking around the petroglyphs does spark the imagination.

We stopped on our last day on the Big Island and so glad we did. It was a nice walk to the beach after talking to the very helpful ranger. There were people, but it wasn't too crowded. Within 5 minutes we found 3 turtles relaxing on shore. It was so nice being able to hang out with them - from a respectful and safe distance. What a way to end our trip.

Beautiful park for the big island but rocky. You will see sea turtles. Be careful on the rocks they can be moss covered and slippery.

Breathtaking views of the ocean!! Very peaceful and quiet. Sacred sites to see. Sea turtles can be seen swimming here and also come over to the shore. The water here is mostly calm and is perfect for swimming and some snorkeling as well. You'll enjoy your visit here. There are also some boats parked at the harbor. I saw some people fishing near the harbor as well.

Amazing place! A little hidden away, but just follow Google maps. We parked at a marina and then walked a few hundred yards to the beach. Light winds that day and beautiful! Saw sea turtles and other 🐠 fish in the waters. Great place to snorkel 🤿.

Beach was excellent! Large protected area would be good for kids and inexperienced swimmers as its waves were minimal, but its a bit rocky so swimming shoes are a good idea. Saw 5 turtles chilling in the water by the beach. Didn't check out the walking trails or other facilities on my stay, but there was a portapotty by the beach for public use.

Worth the small hike. Wish we brought our beach chairs and towels but not sure if you're really supposed to swim here. We saw lots of sea life: many honu, many sea urchins, and so many fish.

This historic site is easily accessible but brutal on a sunny day. The paths lead across bare lava fields with no shade in sight. A hike down to the beach (0.7 miles) will reward you with skinny beaches that have biting black flies. The highlight of the beach is the green turtles that feed right off shore. Do not approach them as they are protected and should not be harassed. However, if you stand in the water long enough, they will cruise by close enough to see them clearly. I had a wonderful time time and got very sunburned.

Great summer palace with most of the original furnishings. There is a self guided tour but the tour with the guide was far more through. You learn about all the rulers of Hawaii since the Europeans arrived. Weapons, games, clothing, furniture, etc. are on display. 2 stories and a gift shop. No parking nearby so we walked from our rental. Lots of shops and restaurants in the area. Get there early on cruise ship days as it can get crowded.

Tour was very informative and the guide had a vast knowledge of the history of the royal families that have stayed there in Hawaii.

Smaller summer palace of the Hawaiian royals. Great docent tour of the full two floors. Lots of great artifacts to view. Book a tour online to view on the weekdays.

What a refreshing change of pace from all the retail and food choices here on Alii Drive. So worth your time to stop in here and witness first hand the history, koa furniture, architecture, interior design, artifacts, historical photography, and pics of Royalty, (ask about Princess Ruth) throughout both floors of this well kept Palace. But first, you'll need to head towards the ocean and stroll around to the back, through the wonderfully manicured grounds to enter. The sounds, fragrance, and rhythms of the water, immediately relax you for your journey back in time. The best part... You are asked to take your shoes off and wander about barefoot, yes barefoot! If that doesn't sound appropriate for you, they will provide you with slippers for over your shoes. We absolutely chose barefoot 🤙 The flooring is immaculate and made with local materials, so the feel is incredible. The "Daughters of Hawaii" currently run the Museum and offer tours if you like. Small donation fee at the back door, and it's definitely worth every dollar.

Nice tour of an interesting piece of Hawaiian history! Guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions and go into details on the rich history of the royal family. A bit difficult to find parking so make sure to show up early to find spots that are cheap but it's well worth it!

Beautifully kept museum with a great and informative tour by the docent, who knew the history and made it meaningful abd fun. I'd recommend a stop by next time you are in Kona.

Great way to learn about the Hawaiian culture.. Very sad, what is happened to their culture. But this place is a great way to keep it alive.

The palace has a lot of interesting history and antiques. The guided experience isn't necessary, but they definitely have more information than is on the plaques and they seemed to be really into the content and history of the palace and the family that used to live there. No shoes and no photography inside, but you can take pictures of the outside.

Nice nature walk ($10 per group) and a short free tour of the processing facility. Staff were friendly, but they get a lot of rude tourists as well. Lots of merch for sale, coffee was good but not as good as other Kona farms we visited.

I adored this place. It was easily one of the most fun things I did on this island. I learned a lot about coffee that was interesting even though I'm not a huge coffee person. The nature trail was gorgeous and was very safe as long as you aren't trying to hurt yourself. I saw many cats, which was a huge and welcome surprise. The gift shop had free tastings of their different roasts. All the products we bought were gorgeous quality and a great price for what we got. The staff was super friendly and relatable. I genuinely enjoyed the time I spent with them even though it was very little. The only upsetting part is that I couldn't stay longer. There's not a ton to do as it's primarily coffee growing, so the tours go by fast.

Our tour guide brought us here and the friendly staff welcomed us and included us on a free informative tour. Beautiful views from the mountaintop and a surprise lava tunnel. Bought one of Garry Palms paintings. He was there to autograph it. I set in my coffee area at home. 💗it.

Mountain Thunder offers free tours of their processing center and provide an interesting background on coffee and how it's harvested. They have coffee to drink for free and beans for purchase. There is a paid walking tour of part of the property where there are lava tubes. This was a nice experience and I'd recommend it.

Great tour and location! So many Kona farms to choose from and so glad we picked Mountain Thunder. Fabulous tour guide..short, but super informative tour and free. Nice gift shop with plenty of coffee to purchase and other coffee related gifts. Coffee was superb. You must do the Cloud Forest Sanctuary self guided tour while there. It is $10 for a group and we’ll worth it. It’s short, but gorgeous. The constant mist from the clouds is also refreshing. Great local business to support.

Really informative tour with explanation of the different beans and process to pick the beans that qualify as Kona coffee. Had 4 flavors for tasting. Was really nice drive up to the farm - was at 975m altitude. Was cooler and refreshing after coming up from Kona. Tours started promptly every 30 min as advertised. Option to do scenic walk for $10 and gift shop. Would highly recommend.

Free tours of the coffee processing every 30 minutes. The tour guide was super awesome and informative. The little gift shop has free coffee for tasting and some great souvenirs. Highly recommend the chocolate covered pea berry coffee beans. Say hi to the local kitty as well :)

It's a good experience. No reservations required. They offer a self guided tour of the plantation, which is a short 15-20 min walk with views of lava tubes and the mountainside. They also offer a 20-min step by step explanation of their coffee making process. No visit inside the mill though. One of the few coffee plantations with their own mill, they provide their mill to other plantations in the area. Free coffee tastings for visitors. Coffee sold at the gift shop is a little expensive, though.

The tour is free. If you want to walk down through the rainforest and see coffee trees (and lots of other plants) it’s only $10 for your party. There’s a gift store and free coffee to sample. We enjoyed the tour very much and enjoyed the coffee samples as well. Kona coffee really is something special. All of the staff were friendly, there were places to sit both up by the shop and down at the end of the rainforest trail. The self-guided trail has a few lava tubes, various fruit trees and other plants, and clouds… yes, there are clouds that come in partway through the day - we were fortunate to have accidentally timed it right and got to watch the clouds come in. It started heavily raining about one minute after we got back to our car.

9_7_2023 Christmas shopping time (Coffee beans/ground, soaps, candle, delicious cookies, candy, bags, stickers).The coffee tour is free and you can taste all their coffees for free. The atmosphere was perfect within the cloud forest, sun in morning and rain the the afternoon. The coffee tour was very educational and well worth the 15 minutes. The cat princess is a new family member and so beautiful.

Very fun. Despite stories of re-sales & non- local items, plenty of local businesses. Compare prices between some of the venders tho! Met some sweet sellers. Bring your own bags🤙

Fun little farmer market. They have fresh fruits vegetables and souvenirs. Parking…. Before the market there is a parking when you first turn off that parking lot is paid to park and really expensive. If you drive a little bit more towards the market entrance there are parking free. Although it can be full on the weekend. We went on a Saturday, but still saw lot of spots left. May check it to save some $$.

Nice midsize flea market. They have fresh produce, Hawaiian souvenirs, t-shirts, jewelry and locally crafted artwork. Many of the vendors are friendly and helpful, but not to much into bargaining. No food trucks or prepared food sold here though. But there are restaurants in the near area. There’s lots of free parking and it right off the main road.

Beware of the stall in the photos, the one closest to the entrance by the road. It might be the only produce stall there. Complete scammers. Can’t trust anything they say. If they say their produce or fruits are organic or locally grown, they are probably GMO pumped goods from the cheapest sources possible in the Mainland or somewhere else. I went to their stall looking for Hawaiian white pineapples. They were selling golden pineapples they claimed were from Maui for about $5. I asked if they had white pineapples, and they pulled a pineapple out of the back claiming it was a Hilo white pineapple and wanted $20 for it. Thought it was a bit pricey but I paid it, took the pineapple home, cut it open and it was a regular yellow pineapple. Took it back to get a refund, and they just flat out refused, even after cutting up the pineapple even more without my permission. If I wanted a yellow pineapple, I would have just bought a $5 pineapple from the supermarket. Total ripoff. Actually, ended up getting a white pineapple from the supermarket for $12. They are harming local farmers with their scams.

Great local produce, artisan crafts, and in close proximity to some great food spots. We got a pineapple, limes, lemons, and some island circus thown in for us to try.

I recommend that market no matter you like fruits and vegetables or not. After visiting that place you will be in love with local fruits and people. Thank you Kona Farmers Market for your hospitality🙌🏻

We came during Sunday lunch time but didn’t see much booths. The fruits like bananas, mangos, star fruits, and pineapples are definitely fresh and sweet. There are many locally made crafts and gifts, very unique and worth spending time.

Slightly underwhelming farmers market, with most of the stalls being for crafted materials rather fruits or foods. There is only 2 food stalls and most of the rest are crafts. Expensive too.

If you want to see green turtles, you’ll see many of them here. Walk to your left of the park, go there a few hours before the sundown. Beautiful place to catch the sunset( we found the short cut by parking at the end corner of the harbor. Walk for about less than 10 minutes and the beach is in front of you). If you decide to go for a long walk on the trail by the visitor center, it will be couple miles long round trip. Make sure to have great hiking shoes on. It’s sands and lava rocks throughout the trail. Towards the end of the trail, it’s so breathtaking.

While you can’t go inside the historical complex, being able to see the hei’au or ancient Hawaiian temple from across was impressive. I wish there was more historical structures standing in Hawai’i. The beach across it is open to public and the hotel even has an amazing ancient Hawai’i exhibit with paintings and explanations for those of us who love history.

It is a magic place with so much historical and spiritual meaning for Hawaii, but it is sad to see that the hotel made the beach besides it a swimming place where people have no respect for the area. It should not be a swimming beach. It should be treated as a sacred place and respected. I doubt people would want to swim by a Catholic church. I was deeply disappointed by the hotel not making sure that is not a swimming beach and by the disrespectful tourists.

After Kamehameha's death, a hale poki (mortuary house) was built next to the heiau to hold his bones. While the original buildings are now gone, the site has several reconstructed structures and is important as not only the last residence of Kamehameha I, who united all of the Hawaiian Islands, but also as the capital of the Kingdom of Hawai'i and the site were the Hawaiian system of kapu was ended and the first Christian missionaries landed on the islands.

Pretty and clean beach area with beautiful landmarks. The water is full of colourful fish.

There was no public access to this site. You can just watch it from the Kamakahonu beach at a distance. If you want access, you have to arrange with Marriott hotel.

We had an okay experience here. The beers were okay. The food was okay. The service was also just about okay. The location is quite nice, so we expected more from it. We're just bummed. We had the mixed grill plate. We only enjoyed the grilled sausage. The chicken and the pork were just okay.

Great food, mostly pizza, sandwiches, salads, and beer. They have a cool merch store, and you can get canned beers to go. The atmosphere was really low-key, and the food was really fresh. Nice staff all around. Parking is okay, but somewhat tight.

This brewpub is popular with both locals and tourists. The food menu is geared toward standard pub grub. Their pizzas are a hit with most guests. One of the charming things here is to try beers from Backyard Batches - limited editions experimental brews.

5 stars for the service and the tour, which was a lot of fun, very informative, and very generous on the tastings. They even bus you to the brewery, even though it's only a 5 minute walk from the restaurant. We also stayed for dinner and drinks after and were seated immediately and had fantastic service. 4 stars overall for the beer... Good quality but between Kona and Maui, I personally found Maui to be much more interesting and flavorful.

The food and our waiter were on point, the hostess was a different story which is why there’s not 5 stars. We ordered the Beer Queso and two pizzas, pepperoni and The Captains. I had there two Porter beers, highly recommended. The waiter was on point and fast with bringing out our food. The hostess was a different person all together, she was very rude. She was more focused on correcting our vernacular of calling the porch/patio a “Lanai”. I realize we’re in Hawaii and that’s what it’s called but we’re not local and was disappointed in the way she acted. The Hawaii Kai location is definitely a better atmosphere and much nicer hostess team.

When in Kona, on the Big Island, and you like beer, then you have to visit the Mother Ship for Kona Beer and some tasty food. This is where it all began for Kona Brewing and they have as many as 20 Kona beers on tap. Do a tasting flight of four or eight shots to pic you fav of the day and dig into one of their pizzas and a salad. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly wait staff and, oh yes, the Beer! We had the large Captain pizza and a small Cesar salad. Several small shops nearby for a nice stroll after eating. Most seating is outdoors under shade, small bar and a few tables inside. Be sure to walk around ... The walls inside are lined with some great Kona memorabilia and music legends. No reservations are being accepted, walk ins only. Was about $75 for two, including tip. Aloha!

Stopped here during our last day. Most seating is outdoors which is fine as weather was great. Recommend beer flight as there will probably be a few you want to try. We had the mana plate and pork tacos and both were terrific. Their Kona pulled pork, chicken and sausage were all very good with good portions.

Nice open air shaded seating. Friendly attentive server got us started with a couple brews. I had the dark coconut beer which I enjoyed as a novelty. Then had the Kua Bay IPA which was excellent. For dinner we had Naahehu (loaded) nachos and a small Captain pizza. Both were very good and filled us up.

Fun tour at sunset (indirect). The tour guide was great and we had dinner afterwards. Nice service all around. The pork tacos were the winner at dinner (not pictured). I’m going to have to come back tomorrow to try that pizza!

I have been enjoying Kona Brewing Companies beer in Arizona for years now. My goal when I got here on Kona is to make sure I made it to the Brewery before I left. The Koko Brown Coconut Ale was INCREDIBLE. They certainly don't have that available in Arizona so that was a treat to have. Got the Pretzel Sticks and the Pepperoni Rolls for food and those hit the spot as well. Rounded out the whole experience with some Kona Seltzers which were very good. I would easily recommend stopping in for either food or definitely the drinks. Hope to be back in the future.

One of the best brewery experiences I’ve ever had. Portions were a good size and even though we ended up sharing a small pizza we still had some to take home. The beer menu speaks for itself and since I couldn’t choose just one I went with a flight and was happy with all of my options. Would have loved to go back but the timing never worked out. We still can’t believe how good the pizza was!

Didn't try the food, but we did a guided tour and had a great time. Blythe was a fun guide who made our tour funny and enjoyable. We got the chance to sample 5 beers each was unique and delicious.

Overpriced, small portions and food is just OK. Wouldn't eat there again.

Pretty nice atmosphere with open air dining right on the ocean. Friendly staff, my server, who I forgot to get her name was awesome. Very attentive and friendly and made you feel welcome. The clam chowder was the most amazing I’ve ever had. Thick and Rich chock-full of clam and potatoes. Just a cup is very filling. The salad in this picture that’s no little salad plate. That’s a big 12 inch dinner plate. Lotta food there. If I ever get back to Kona , I will definitely revisit the fish hopper.

1st night's dinner on the island. Great location right off the shore and tables by the window were not hard to get at the time, so it worked out. Our server was awesome. Bummer was I guess we came a bit late as they were out of my first choice Ono, but dinner was very good. My only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because it was expensive for the overall dinner for 2. I would come by for drinks and an app with the view which is great.

My goto spot at the north end of Alii Drive. Very nice view of the ocean. Good food & good service. Had the Kona Cobb this time, tasty.

The was our first stop on Big Island. All the meals were tasty. Crab cakes had real crab meat. The hawaiin bun on the burger was a nice touch, the chicken fettuccine was creamy and not too heavy, and she enjoyed the fish special. Great place to come for happy hour drinks.

This place had amazing food! They were 6 of us, and all agreed the food was delicious. It's a little upscale, although we didn't realize it and went directly after the beach. Luckily, they were able to accommodate us because it was early, like 5pm. I had salmon and it was so good. Everyone had something different on the menu, and everyone in our party grabbed about the good, especially the ribs. Our waiter was also good and knew the menu well!

This place is fun, fabulous and friendly. The drinks are memorable, the food yummy and the waitstaff attentive. Faith was our person making sure all was good at our table. There isn’t a bad table in the house. Reservations are accepted and I would recommend making a reservation, especially if you want to sit at a window.

This place has a great morning view if you arrive around 7:30-8am, very quite street with as the sun rise/warms up. The service and atmosphere is excellent, very friendly staff and quick service. We stopped by for breakfast and had pancakes, scrambled eggs, skillet potatoes, Portuguese sausages, and guava juice. Everything was good, except the guava seemed from a bottle or container and was very sweet. The pancake was good but a little too chewy, and had a burnt oily taste/flavor.

What a relief to find to find this place. Great atmosphere and great food, I do recommend it. Make sure to ask for the price of what you are ordering if the price is not on the menu. I ordered the seafood platter for 2 and it was $210. The value is probably correct, but I didn’t need the shock of the bill when I’m simply sharing it with my 5 year old the waiter knew that because my husband ordered his own meal.

4 ⭐ because I had the ocean view seats :) otherwise it would be a 3 ⭐ experience. The food is just ok. This place is famous for its view, not food. The french press Kona coffee is good though.

I am not one to leave bad reviews but I feel that this experience needs to be showcased for health/cleanliness reasons. We went to On The Rocks to celebrate my birthday and take in the beautiful views… the ocean is beautiful but that’s about all you’ll get from this restaurant. We were unlucky enough to sit on the railing overlooking the views (which you’d think would be the best seats). It started off with battling several cockroaches from climbing on our table and chairs, which we fought off with another table of people next to us(with no help from staff)..until we decided to move tables completely. After we moved, it left the railing tables open which allowed the rats to come out. Walking over the tables and chairs, finding the dirty plates that were left for at least 30 minutes after other guests had left. Waitress was aware of the entire situation, offered nothing more than laughing it off and no apologies. Just absolutely distraught that the issues are well known and no one is concerned or attempting to resolve the issues. Not to mention, the food is very expensive for the quality that you get and service you receive. This restaurant has so much potential and I was very sad that we had the experience that we did. After seeing everything that saw and the lack of action by staff members, I am very concerned for the health/safety protocols of the kitchen area. I am writing this in hopes that something is done for future guests.

Great place for happy hour! Drinks are a decent price (compared to others in the area) and the fish tacos are pretty good, but were small in portion size. My waiter, Victor, was very friendly. For cheap happy hour drinks and food this place is it! The only downside, arriving just as happy hour started, was having to sit in the sun as the spots in the shade were taken.

Food was just OK. My dad’s tuna was overcooked as well as his French-fries. I ordered the Volcano fries with my fried shrimp and the fries were also overcooked. They put some sort of spices on it to make it “Volcano” but apparently it doesn’t contain any salt whatsoever. You can see my plate below. That was the entire dish. Got tarter sauce but no cocktail sauce. I suppose I could have asked for it but typically it comes with shrimp. Perhaps it was an off night for them. But the atmosphere was great. We really enjoyed the live entertainment and if you get there early there is a nice view of the ocean.

My burger was great, the meat was perfect and the bun was super flavorful. My mothers fish sandwich was great and my sisters chicken tenders were the best she ever had. I also got the lava flow and oh it was so good. I hope you can go to this place!

Service at the bar was SLOW. Bar tender walked by me five times. Had to flag him down. Ordered Kona Seasonal beer and it was great! Fish Tacos were interesting. The flavor was good as was the texture. Onion ring appetizer was really good & large! If you go here, I'd get a table. Not sure I'm going back.

Delicious! Putting our feet in the sand was great with the food while we watched the sunset. Plenty of options and a few vegan/vegetarian options too. The drinks were great and wish we could go back before we leave. Would recommend to anyone visiting Kona!

You can't beat the atmosphere of sitting alongside the ocean, torches burning, love music & hula and .... sand under your feet! Add to that very good service and pretty delicious food! Started and ended our trip here🤙

Cool spot to stop for a bite and a beverage. Beautiful view and great service! Didn’t stay for the sunset but I’m guessing it’s amazing from here! The tacos were bomb.

Great spot for dinner or lunch with a view. There was an artist there at lunch when we visited but they have music later. Menus pretty good. Prices are average. 6 people cost 180 ish. I had fish and chips which was great but portions were small. Taco salads are huge. Seafood chowder is great and comes in a bread bowl.

We ate here 2 times during our honeymoon stay in Kona! This was our favorite restaurant. Danny was our server both times and was so helpful and kind. We love the Da Bomb Fries, Fish Tacos and burgers! So delicious! We will miss this place!

I mean, the service was horrible, but food was good and view was excellent and they were trying so I can't dog them. They just need more help. Took about 30 mins to get our order taken. We will be back though. Give them your license plate to your car or they will tow you.

My friend and I went to On the Rocks for dinner around 5 pm. The restaurant is located on a busy street with lots of restaurants. There are some parking spots outside the restaurant, but if those spots are full, then you can park at the parking lot next to Basik Acai. It's a shared parking lot between a few of the businesses. The restaurant was packed when we got there, but still, we were seated right away. They gace bar seating and regular seating overlooking the ocean. They also have live music every day. When we went, we had an artist play Hawaiian music as well as some classic songs. Good music and beautiful sunset in the background definitely made for a great experience, but the food, not so much. We started off with Da bomb fries for the appetizer. It was more so a full meal than an appetizer. The fries were doused in aioli and umami sauce, so their flavors were very overpowering. For our main meal, we ordered quesdilla and poke nachos. Quesdilla was okay. Poke nachos was heavy of the nachos than fish and guac. It used the same sauces as the fries, so that was a bit disappointing. Because we got there shortly before their happy hour ended, we were able to order drinks from their happy hour menu. We got mai tai and hawaiian rainbow. Mai tai was alright. Hawaiian rainbow was better and more refreshing. The second round of drinks included strawberry lava flow and a seltzer. Strawberry lava flow was pretty good and tasted like an ice cream shake. Last but not least, we also ordered the kona coffee cheescake. It was very dense and greasy, so we only took a few bites of it. Restaurant had a very tropical, relaxing, and chill vibe. Since it's all outdoor dining, there were a lot of birds flying around looking for food, but it wasn't anything that took away from our experience. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and constantly checked in on us to make sure we were okay. The ambiance and service were definitely the highlights.

I like the atmosphere, the food is decent but nothing to scream about. The restaurant usually gets very busy (they don't have reservations, walk in only) - I was placed next to the live performers and the host was kind enough to check if I'm okay to be placed close to the performers of which I don't mind because that means I'm also close to the water. The staff are generally pleasant and I didn't have to wait too long for my food. The food is average, I had the clam chowder served in a sourdough bread with a side of poke and I also ordered fish tacos with a side of volcano fries to go for my friend.

Best breakfast on Ali Drive near downtown. I always get the Big Kahuna Fish breakfast (huge portion of fish see pic #1)eggs, potatoes and fresh fruit. The price is extremely affordable. The mixed drinks here are amazing. So good that I have at least one with breakfast. The Coco Mo (coconut water mojito) is amazing. Nothing better than to start the day with as you overlook one of the most beautiful horizons. Most of the other restaurants around are just tourist traps with barely mediocre food. It was such a relief to find this place.

Andy our tour guide brought us here so I could have a really good mai tai. And it was great. 🍹. My friend had a blue Hawaiian and loved it. Friendly staff and amazing view and breeze. Great stop to try downtown Kona.

Looks like a great place to have any of your meals. The menu looks fantastic. Unfortunately when we showed up for dinner the upper floor was closed off. I ordered the fish and chips. I liked the batter and the tasty fish. The malt vinegar definitely seemed to be watered down. This is pretty common for most restaurants. I don't think the restaurant is actively watering down the vinegar, I just think they need to maybe look at a new supplier or brand. The wait staff was great. They use QR codes for menus at this location. You can even theoretically order your meal remotely. But let's be honest. Go with the wait staff that are right there in front of you. We will be back again to check out their breakfasts.

This is the place to go for good cocktails! They use fresh juices that they press every morning. You can sit at the bar, enjoy good service and see the sunset. We wish we would have gone there first - and not on our last evening on Big Island! 🍹🍸 The food was good as well. I had the vegan version of the Poke Bowl. I only wish they had some more option for vegan & gluten free guests. Especially on the breakfast menu. We did not go there for breakfast because of that.

Lava java is a therapeutic experience. You drown in the ambiance of soft jazz, gentle sea breeze, and a view that takes your breath away. Waitresses like Terri are a gem that sees your taken care of with a smile. The food. Artistic to the eye, sinfully leaves you smiling in heaven. And that is just the breakfast. I can't wait to come back and indulge in the sunset dining experience here. Thank you, Island Lava Java! Also, no stress allowed...🤙🏽

Had eggs Benedict with mahi and Hawaiian style pancake/ waffle. I like how they use Danish/croissant bread for the Benedict. The coconut syrup was good. I'd recommend the crispy potatoes vs regular potatoes. Overall good food but not too special.

Great place to grab a bite to eat. Good food. Beautiful view right on the ocean. Prices were a little high, bit appropriate for the location. Only complaint was that you had to do the ordering on your phone. So you couldn't ask questions or make requests. Bad model.

Island Lava is a nice spot to come and stop through. The view is amazing. The food was good. I ate the waffle, eggs, and fish. The juice was great freshly squeeze. The customer service was just ok. The server was not appealing, didn't make me want to come back, it was more like you are sitting down and she has to get her job done, nothing more. So if you are walking on the strip and you feel hungry and you want a good view, come by and check this spot out.

You absolutely must come! We came here on a recommendation from a friend and now we have a must-return spot when we go to Kona! On 2 visits for brunch this trip, I had the French toast & the "go island style" waffle. The French toast was amazing and definitely worth the trip itself! We also had the fish tacos which were fantastic! Drinks were good and prices were fair, but you absolutely must try their coffee! The best brunch spot in Kona hands down!

Great birthday spot! Made a reservation, showed up early and was seated right away. They learned it was my birthday and sent out champagne. 🤗 our dishes were super tasty and they sent out a slice cake for dessert! Our server was super accommodating & attentive. Excited to go back to try the other dishes!

My siblings and I took our parents here for their wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed! The waiters were great, friendly, and knew the menu so well. Loved that they provided their suggestions. The food was delicious, and the drinks were boozy. Try the passion flow! Would definitely book a reservation cause it was busy!

Overall, this is a good restaurant to come have a nicer meal at during your vacation. I wish they would have been more considerate for our reservation, though. We made a reservation for 6 people at 6:15pm on a Monday night for my mother's 53rd birthday. We called while we were en route to tell them we would arrive 5 minutes late, though when we got there, they had not even set up our table, and they wanted to sit us in the back well away from the window with the ocean view and sunset we hoped for my mother's birthday. They did their best after we asked to be closer, but the whole dinner we were staring at their bar and server station. Rosemary bread was soft and fragrant. Shishito peppers were simple. Crab cakes were light, the sauces individually were distinct and flavorful, though I thought the palate contrast wasn't quite right. The cheesecake was the best dessert. Again, overall it's a good restaurant. I think the quality of the food doesn't quite match the higher prices, but we all enjoyed our dinner and my mom was happy.

The Linguine with clams is outstanding; you can clearly savor the infusion of white wine, making it exceptionally delicious. The seafood trio is equally impressive, particularly the yam which complements the dishes perfectly. The poke, with its impeccable sauce, is another highlight. Our dinner experience here was thoroughly enjoyable.

The menu is short, but exceptionally well executed and the menu items come out quick. The server was enthusiastic and appears to loves her job. It also appeared that many of the support staff enjoys their job too! The atmosphere is small and quite, but filled with joyful staff. What really blew me away was the food, it is much higher quality than I would have expected! The portion sizes aren’t large but they do leave you craving their lovely deserts! Perfect place for a quite romantic dinner or special occasion.

DELICIOUS!!! We ate at the bar and had amazing service, the bartenders were both very friendly. Ribs for an appetizer, a must! Shrimp & Chicken Angel Hair and the Pork Chop for the main meal and both were very good. We had a slice of their cheesecake for dessert and it was some of the best I've ever had. Definitely recommend this place!!

Amazing food! I had ono fish with a crust of sesame seeds (chef’s special of the day). A delightful palette of flavors at each bite. From nutty to sweet, and many other in between. A dark chocolate mousse cake with a French press local coffee to top the experience. The place is nice with a local feeling. With an excellent service that makes you feel like a king.

This restaurant is one of our new favorite places to dine when on the Big Island. Jackie Rey’s Ohana Grill Kona serves a variety of menu items, and for a Hawaiian dinner house, are medium priced. The food was delicious, the service was outstanding, and like many businesses that have struggled to restaff because of COVID, they also were hit with a staffing shortage and reduced regular hours temporarily. We will definitely go back next time we are there.

The best meal we had on the big island was at Jackie Rey’s. The food was delicious, the presentation was even better, so beautiful. I got the seafood trio and my husband got the special of the day which was beer battered ono. We also shared the fudge brownie dessert. Everything was fabulous. (Not pictured: the rosemary bread appetizer, also really great, served warm.)
