Jijoca de Jericoacoara

In the far west of Brazil, lies the small village of Jijoca de Jericoacoara, home to the famous Jericoacoara beach. Jeri, as it is affectionately known, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It is also one of the most isolated, and made up of white sand and fine-grained rock sand. There are no big hotels, no high-rises, no discos, just tents, tiny houses and a few guest houses, which are usually booked months in advance.

The Dune Sunset Jericoacoara tourist attraction is a popular spot for people to take pictures of the sun setting over the ocean. The view from up on the dune is beautiful, but it's not possible to see it from any angle other than straight down. Once the sun has disappeared behind the waves, everyone gives a round of applause before heading back home for dinner.

Too crowded, there are other places on the coast to enjoy the sunset with less people. But in general, it's beautiful!
An absolute must for every visitor to jeri. it is a breathtaking experience to be on the dunes at sunset. Highly Recommended

Sunset is beautiful but because the wind, the sand crash on you and is kind of painful, also for your eyes! From the beach the sunset is also beautiful and the after sunset, that is always better ☀️

July, 2023. We took the public free Jardinera/bus from the parking lot to the front of the hike. There are multiple paths made of a mix of sand and grass. You can ware flipflops or tennis, but once you get to the beach definitely flipflops. You can also hire a horse/carriage to bring you up. The walk is about 1 hour and the first 45, min is easy to moderate the last 15 you have a descent with steep steps and loose rock. I recommend start walking around 4:15 pm and bringing a flashlight for the way back if you don't want to walk in the dark. There will be a line of people in front of the rock waiting for photos. You could join the queue or position yourself a bit farther and see the whole rock with the sunset. The experience is worth it, the wiews are incredible.
Beautiful spot for a nice picture... the walking from the village via ocean shore is fantastic, but you really need to time it... otherwise the tide rises and you can get caught up.. it can be dangerous...
The most beautiful part is the trekking alongside the beaches through the hills. The rock itself is just a rock with a big hole in the middle.
There is a queue, but is super worth it the view. Recommend to go walking, from the top tô have a nice view.
Access requires a good 10 min walk in a steep area. On sunny days, there is literally a line up of people waiting to make a photo. Overrated.
A little bit of a walk but it’s good exercise and the view along the way makes every minute of it worth it! Make sure to budget a few extra minutes if you want a picture before the sunset - there’s a bit of a line for the photo.

This is the most pointless attraction in all of Jericoacoara. It’s just a tree. And not even that great of a tree. And it takes like 30 minutes of driving on the bumpy roads just to get to it.
This is one of the last manglar trees in the area. The tree is laying to the side because of the non stop strong winds. That's the reason for the name too. As you approach the tree you'll see a sing stating that it's forbidden to climb the tree. During the few minutes we spent there all of the visitors climbed the tree for their pictures. How silly the human being is, right?
The tree really is beautiful, but there's always lots of people in line to take a picture

Praia do Preá is a well-liked destination for kitesurfing and swimming due to its favorable conditions. Although it appears somewhat empty during the day, there is increased activity when the lagoon day tour buggies make stops here for pictures and lunch. The beach is frequented by numerous kite surfers, offering a vibrant atmosphere. It offers more affordable options for food and drinks compared to Jericoacoara beach.

Looks a little deserted during the day times, the lagoon day tour buggies seem to stop off here for photos & lunch which brings a lot of activity. Loads of kite surfers here as well. A bit cheaper for food and drinks than Jericoa beach but I'd think the night times would be no where near as good.

There a lot of tree playgrounds and structures. We can enjoy to take photos with them. And we can also buy souvenirs by handmade. It is very comfortable price. This scenery is not normal place. It makes you exited.
Great playground for young and old ... swings, climbing or just relaxing, everything is possible here. There are drinks and food at the beach bars ... An unforgettable experience with a buggy or 4x4
Interesting landscape created by the change in the ecosystem when previous vegetation did not adapt to the changing soil base...

I can warmly recommend this lovely, romantic, nicely decorated restaurant in Jericoacoara. The menu is providing something for all likes, everything from meats to seafood. This is a great place to finish off your day in the sun, and with the service minded staff I can guarantee you will have a nice evening.
Very nice restaurant with covered seating (in case of rain). Food is very tasty but also one of the more expensive restaurants in Jeri. Furthermore it is very dark in evening.
Don't recommend for vegans! They told me at the door that I could make a plate of sides, which usually works well but here you'll get a ridiculously small portion of vegetables (paid R$ 36 for my plate). For the tangerine ginger juice, I couldn't even catch a hint of ginger.
I loved it! But it will be a looooot of food! We would never be able to finish it hahaha! ❤️

One of our favourite restaurants in Jeri was the Dona Amélia. The friendly staff and classic décor made it a great place to eat, while the generous portions and reasonable price ensured that we could comfortably have lunch or dinner together. There was a huge range of individual dishes or for two people, which depending on hunger would mean eating three sizable dishes easily - as they are all accompanied by various side sauces.

We got the mix grilled seafood for 1 person (we were 2 people) and it was more than enough for us. It was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious! They have had great and chilled music to enjoy with the food. Definitely recommed 👌🏼
Great service from the host to the server... LOVED their most popular dish... Shrimp on Pinaple... and of course the Caipirinhas!!! Price is good and fair...totally recommend!!!

Amazing food. The Shrimp on pineapple is marvelous, cheap and serves 3 people very well. Also there is a cheaper option for those with few money. They offer ready dishes with chicken, meat and fish which serve two people very well from R$ 20 to R$ 30.
One of the best options in Jeri for traditional/typical northeastern fare. Come prepared for filling seafood plates and the occasional serenade from one of the oft featured singers.

If you are one of those who likes to listen some music while eating, this restaurant is the right choice. Honestly, not much to choose from, though what is served is of good quality. The staff is friendly.

This restaurant boasts a superior service compared to other places in town. The staff are extremely well trained, attentive and friendly. Their special prawn dish with catipury cheese was incredible in flavour, it’s served with rice prepared with garlic and mashed potato. I highly recommend this dish and a visit to this restaurant.
Excellent restaurant where is located in center of Jericoacoara. Their seafood cuisines are amazing tastes. They are open from noon to night. We can go here when we are available. They have English menu, so for foreigners, it is also good option to have lunch or dinner.
