Fantastic place. I loved how quiet it was, meant you could get good photos & not feel rushed through it. It’s not as big as it looks so is quite manageable. The gardens were very beautiful. Note: If you want to go in the temple you will need to dress modestly, no shorts or strappy tops.

A beautiful place where you can learn a lot about the emperors that lived there during french occupation. Some interesting testimony of the colonial time and nice gardens too

We arrived at 9.50am and left at 11.15am. It is a big compound showing what is left of the Citadel after the war. There is little shelter between buildings, and so it is advisable to bring an umbrella to fence off the sun. It is a historical place, but not overly impressive. A guided tour is recommended to appreciate the history and significance of some of the buildings and rooms.

An amazing place to visit, recommended to anyone in the area. The once imperial home of royalty of Vietnam. It does has some damage from the American war during the 60 - 70s but is still very impressive and is slowly being fully restored to its former glory

The Citadel is a very beautiful place to visit and was much larger than expected. My group spent two hours there and didn’t see all of it. Unfortunately one of the main buildings was closed due to restoration but there was still plenty to see. There is an arts and crafts shop which was lovely and we had the opportunity to make some incense. They also run workshops there and would recommend checking it out.

Super HUGE. Prepare yourself with walking. Crowded on weekends but it’s ok. Amazing place and a must see if you’re in Hue. Should spare around 3 hrs. The combination tickets with the tombs is cheaper.

You cannot dismiss this amazing place! Absolutely top. Please consider having the whole day to go through. Combo tickets strongly recommended.

A wonderful place in Hue with beautiful architecture, as far as I can tell the main attraction. I loved the mix of restored and unrestored buildings. It’s a huge complex that takes probably 2-3 hours to completely cover. Really wanted to see the shows in the theater but missed them the day we went. Highly recommend a visit here if in Hue!

So beautiful. Love the architecture, the tree, the water. It can be very hot during summer though. We visited at perfect weather.

We have visited this on weekdays and there was no rush at all. Weather was too hot and it's become difficult to roam there. Carry umbrella and water. It is nice place to see history. If you are interested to visit historical place then it will require 2 - 3 hours by max to explore this. Ticket price is 200.000 VND per person.

A must see. Hué thanks to the Imperial City and all the Emperors burial sites has some of the most astonishing historical sites in the whole Vietnam. You need at least a full day or even 2 to visit most of the sites. I spend 1 day (3h Imperial city and 5h for 3 burial sites, the abandoned water park, a viewpoint with bunkers). Prices vary but you can buy a combo ticket for the city and 2 or more tombs.

Recommend, just allow for 2-3 hrs + to be able to fit it all in. It's a large area full of various buildings, gardens etc. Very beautiful & majestic understandably. Lots of random buildings but also for eg Royal Theatre that are amazing buildings, & must see's!

Iconic and historical pagoda in Hue. It was build by Lord Nguyen Hoang and been there along history until now. Not many things to see but the view across Perfume River is just too good! No entrance fee but only pay for parking fee.

Stunning structure surrounded by lovely gardens and intriguing figures. A good view of the Perfume River and the steps that must be taken to get there may be had from the pagoda's base. It will be worthwhile!

We arrived at about 8.50am and there were few people there. When we left at 9.35am, the entrance was crowded with tour groups. Since there were few people, the walk in the pagoda and temple premises was quiet and peaceful. It is a place to soak in the serene temple atmosphere and carefully curated premises.

Nice historical place next to the big river and no entrance fee.

A little bit out of Hue but it is a great site of the pagoda once you climb the stairs at the entrance. The site also includes a temple and a garage including the car owned by a monk who set himself alight in protest to protect the values of his religion. The grounds are serene and when we visited the monks on site were performing a ritual so the music and prayer set the scene.

Beautiful gardens and intriguing statues are all around this stunning edifice. The Perfume River and the stairs that must be climbed to get to the pagoda are both clearly seen from the pagoda's bottom. Effort well spent, we'll!

I really enjoyed it, and entry was free (!) Definitely worth wandering around the grounds here. I saw most people stopping only at the pagoda, but up the back it really nice and a relaxing spot to stop and relax in the summer heat. Be aware, you will have many people trying to sell you everything out the front. Was really full on.

Beautiful place, u should really walk around a lot and explore everything. Try to focus on the sound of nature, it opens your inside soul ! Bring water, sunglasses, suncream or umbrella with. Really hot and sunny inside while u walking! No ticket needed. But please respect the culture and dont wear shorts or tank top inside the temple! ( They did put the warning sign outside the temple, but nobody seemed to care, it's really disrespectful:( )

One of the top 3 most visited attractions in Hue. Basically a functioning temple with a very old Pagoda. I am not sure which sect of the Buddhism this place belongs too. But it is a nice walk around the temple compound. Free entry. Spent about 45mins.

Pretty cool place. Nice Pagoda, nice gardens and some nice views on the river. Fre entrance. The place could be extremely peaceful but there is a lot of tourism in the area which sucks a bit.

I didn't visit all the tombs in the town, but this was my favourite.. beautiful calm place, reminds me more some beautiful park than tomb/temple. Grab a book, some snack and just chill on the edge of the lake!

Quieter and less visited than many other tombs in the area. The grounds and temples here are just as beautiful. I appreciated how flat the ground was here, a lot less climbing than at other tombs. We might have skipped this one if we hadn’t already bought the number four ticket that included the entrance here. So glad we did come, this is one of my favorites.

This is the best spot in Hue but doesn't seem to be considered as such by tour organisers. We went on a sunny but mild day, it wasn't overly busy and the grounds are stunning. Its very easy to navigate but you can also quite easily wander off and find your own shaded pavilion to chill out at. Could spend anything from 30 minutes to 3 hours here. Just fantastic.

It's one of my favourite thoombs in Hue. It us more distant, but it's quieter, not too many tourists are going there, it's spacious, surrounded by the river and lakes. If you come before closing time, before 5 pm, you can witness the green parrots singing and nesting. It has a great atmosphere.

We visited three graves during our stay in Hue. Renting a scooter (which you can do at your hostel or rental store) was the best way to go about this. The three tombs are all approachable in the same day, along with other places, if you use a scooter. Surrounding this specific mausoleum are some lovely gardens. However the actual tomb site is only open once a year, on the anniversary of the emperors death, therefore you can’t actually see the tomb unless you go on this date. It’s worth a visit though if you are doing the other tombs. The entry fee is 150,000 and can be bought right outside the entrance.

Amazing architecture! Our personal tour guide, who accompanied us, was able to provide us with further information about the location's history. It is situated in a fairly large region. There is a tonne of shelter and wonderful locations for photographs.

Beautiful construction in a natural setting that is nicely kept and maintained. This is a UNESCO world heritage site in Hue. An interesting place to know about Vietnam history and culture in general and Hue in particular.

The tomb is well-preserved. The architecture of the buildings are kept like hundred years ago. We can’t pay visit the the king’s grave itself but the surrounding areas are beautiful enough. Also it is not too far from the Hue center. You can drive your motorbike to here and back in the morning.

This is the burial site of the secon Vietnamese king. The favourite of the local people as you can see by the enormous mausoleom he has and by the many visitors. It is a very beautiful place with fancy buildings gorgeous plants and a calm atmosphere. I can highly recommend going there if you are already in Hue.

Great experience. Audio guide is great and at 70K, no reason not to get it. Makes a huge difference. Grounds are beautiful and buildings well maintained. A really interesting experience.

This place is incredibly beautiful and can take 30 to 45 minutes to see it all. Lots of good photography places and the tomb itself is really well kept. Tickets are not expensive at all, around 100,000 if I remember correctly. No need to book online, tickets are at the door and there is plenty of space to walk around, a gift shop, toilets and a photography section if you want to sit on the throne and get dress ups. Ofcourse that's an additional price inside.

This was the first of the three mausoleums we visited with our citadel combined ticket number 4. The grounds here are peaceful and serene and a pleasure to walk around and explore. The koi in the pond are hungry and colorful. The mausoleum and temples are beautifully decorated. Cold coconut at the small cafe just inside the gate was the perfect refreshment after walking around in the heat.

There are many Mausoleums on the banks of the Perfume River and this I enjoyed most as it is more like a Japan theme garden. The entire compound covers some 10 to 15 football field so it is big. Place is well maintained also. You probably want to set aside 2 hours for this place if you want to enjoy. Best go in morning or before closing.

A must-visit when in Hue! This mausoleum is something of an oasis in a secluded valley, based around a beautiful lake and with lots of sprawling and wonderful temples around. Spend an hour walking about and getting lost - you won't regret it! [In terms of getting here, I took a motorbike tour to several of the mausoleums around the Hue countryside. Very worth doing - can also ride the bike yourself if confident enough!]

The site is pretty big with a lot of different elements to see. It makes a magnificent ensemble within a beautiful scenery with a lake and the forest surroundings. At least 1 hour is required to apprehend the place. The tomb itself is not accessible but the setting with a bridge and a big door leading to it add to the mysticism of the place.

This is a nice place to relax, read books or picnic. It was just restored so to me, it is not beautiful as Minh Mang tomb. You need to go with a tour guide to know more about this royal tomb. But like i said, a great place for peace and picnic.

Amazing architecture and design, slightly too expensive for how small it is at 100,000 kip. Also you should aim to get there very early as it quickly gets filled with coach loads of tourists

This is one of the most interesting sites I've visited in Hue, and actually found this tomb more fascinating than the Palace and Citadel. There's a unique style and architecture to this place that really testifies to how much the French had entwined themselves into Vietnamese life. French culture appears not so much fused as forced upon Vietnam's extent, ancient culture. The setting for the tomb is remarkable, absolutely picturesque.

Rented a moped in Hue to get to this location. Very easy ride even in the rain. This was one of the locations that our hotel recommended and it was fantastic. Beautiful stone carvings here.

The ambience of this restaurant is impressive. Well decorated. The food is good .. onion soup , in my opinion, not that great but the lamb rack n tenderloin is good. Food n wine reasonably priced .

Wonderful find to stumble upon. Really nice ambiance and great service. All the meals were garnished with great detail. We had the green mango salad for entree (delicious), however the mains were okay. The Bun Bo Hue didn't really taste like Bun Bo Hue for some reason - it was good enough, just not the flavour that meal calls for. We also had lemongrass duck which was nice though lacked a bit of sauce.

Excellent food, wine & service. Very nice decorated building in french style. The owner is a french vietnamese couple, which are very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommended restaurant if you plan a trip to Hue.

Excellent food in a beautiful location within an old colonial building. We sat on the terrace and enjoyed the great weather. Service was brilliant with friendly, attentive servers. In terms of food, we tried the fried spring rolls, fried noodles with beef and the bun bo hue, all of which were great. My favourite meal in Hue.

This is a bit better than a 4.5 rating. The decor and ambiance are great. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The food tasted good and was very well presented. The portions were small enough that we were able to get through a six course set menu without any difficulty despite being relatively light eaters.

Good food and ambience! Nice restaurant 😀 Only one suggestion is to use the blender for drinks in the kitchen instead of near the dining tables. It does drown out some conversation occasionally.

The restaurant is in a colonial building which has beautiful interior. Service was good and food was great as well. Recommend to give it a try. They serve both western and Vietnamese food

Beautiful place. Nice service. We had no reservations but they were very nice with us. Meals were delicious and the best part... They did not break the pasta before cooking. So I had perfect long vermicelli serve with delicious sauce and real parmesan cheese.

We came here for dinner based on the Google reviews and were not disappointed! A little bit tricky to find if you don't realize you have to go down the alley way but once you're there, delicious. We had a variety of starters and the crispy noodles with tofu and mushrooms and everything we ate was absolutely scrumptious.

This restaurant has an extensive list of local food items. Though the menu suggests that they are servings for one, I reckon that they should be dishes to share. For example, the fish dish and and orange duck that we ordered -- they are too much for one person to finish as the flavors are very distinct. The food tastes great and the service is pretty nice. Every one tries to communicate with you in English. I ordered a glass of Vietnamese wine. It wasn't necessarily a good wine but a nice experimental experience for me. interesting! Beer is cheap :) so that's a plus! It's not very local though. Everyone i see here is a tourist. Anyhow, it's a great place for "intro to vietnamese cuisine" -P

I am amazed at the quality of food for the low price charged. I had this beef noodle dish and the beef was tender and flavorful. Everything was fresh and done right. The staff was also fantastic. The restaurant is de own a narrow alley but it’s neon sign let’s you know you are in the right place. I was too full to get the house made yogi for dessert. I wish I had time to go back - this is my favorite restaurant in Hue

Fabulous food and amazing service. You will not be disappointed by the food and hospitality in this lovely little restaurant. We had a group of six and everyone loved their food. The waitress bent over backwards to help and was a genuinely kind person. I'd definitely eat here again.

Great food! Had a really good vegetarian/vegan tofu in tomato sauce here, best one so far in Vietnam. The pineapple juice was also really fresh. A tourist place of course, but that wasn't a problem. However, music could be better, unless you prefer My heart will go on.

The food was great and so was the service. I enjoyed my lunch so much, that I got takeaway to have later for dinner. Then two days later I found myself a mere few blocks away around dinner time and went back again!

Friendliest service and incredible food! We visited twice during our stay in Hue. The curry tofu is so good and I really enjoyed the banana cake too. There’s an excellent selection of alcoholic drinks for a super affordable price too. Loved this restaurant.

Good place for your budget feast. After ordering we got some complimentary spring rolls which were delicious. We had the traditional dish of pork and shrimp with rice cracker, rice noodles with pork and peanut cream (the cream tasted funny so I asked for a little of fish sauce) also, we had a pot with a sweet and delicious pork stew with steamed rice.

I love the lemongrass chicken on bamboo. It comes entirely in breast chicken meat. The gravy goes well with the white rice and I can request the kitchen to make the dish to be less spicy. The mushroom tofu claypot is also in my liking. It’s sweet and the sauce is great with rice. These two dishes are recommended. The staff speaks English and makes recommendations. So, you would be taken care of if you are unfamiliar with the local food. For these, I am giving 2 Stars for food and 2 Stars for service.

We had a good experience as a whole. Service was friendly, food was pretty good (we had tofu with lemongrass and claypot chicken with chili). The prices are way higher than other places, but this is what you pay to get air con, as most places in Hue only have fan, which is unbearable during the day. The staff forgot our bottles of water but not a big deal. If you don't like MSG, make sure to ask them not to add any (we show the image on Google and they understood) I'd go back for a lunch in town

Every time I'm in Hue I love to enjoy Golden Rice for lunch or dinner. They have a large menu with very creative dishes. The staff are attentive and very polite and it's comfortable inside, even if it's super hot outside. Love bringing friends and family there as well.

UPDATED BELOW: Tourist trap. Overpriced. Food was far from authentic. Service was horrible-we were asked to move tables to accommodate a larger party, brought us the wrong drinks. Overall bad experience. Whoever wrote this place had the best beef noodle soup they've ever tasted is flat out wrong, lying, or has never had instant noodles. We had green curry (God awful), shrimp hotpot (waaay to salty) and beef noodle soup. If u read the reviews and decide to visit this place, just take a look inside and see how many of their customers are local vietnamese as opposed to tourists. Then ask urself are u really getting good authentic food? UPDATE: The manager came by and asked about our dinner after he noticed we barely touched it. After hearing our feedback, he comped our meal. This was both unnecessary and over and beyond customer service expectations. Rating raised from 1 star to 3.

Delicious food. The duck with passion sauce was super good, nice contrast between the sweet and the meat. The shrimp rolls were also nice, with a nice sauce. Friendly. Good prices.

We got the orange duck, chicken in a clay pot, and hue pancake as an appetizer. The sauce that comes with the pancake is somewhat bland but the chicken was one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve had during my travels in Vietnam and fully made up for it. Their lemongrass and ginger tea was also delightful and saved my throat. Would recommend.

The food was absolutely delicious and perfect for our first taste of central vietnamese cuisine. The noodle with pork and peanut sauce was outstanding, as was the beef and pork soup. Yes, on the pricier side, and yes, would have liked the air con for the price but the service was excellent, Chau took the time to explain the local dishes and make some recommendations for our holiday in Hue and Hoi An! If you're not penny pinching, totally recommend!

They offer a great selection of Vietnamese food that is prepared and served in a clean environment. The menu is uncomplicated but diverse. Descriptions are in English and photos are included. This is a good place for a novice traveler to Vietnam to try some regional specialties. I’ve lived in Vietnam for almost 3 years and find it to be a lovely place. Their fresh spring rolls are the best in Hue. The servers are quite professional and speak English.

We tried to get a table at Madam Thu but had a long wait, which didn’t suit us. We found Madam Thu 2 around the corner and were able to get a table inside. The food was fine but there were a couple of points we didn’t really like. The beers were warm, unlike the pork on lemon grass skewers, which were cold. We checked about the skewers and we’re told that’s how they are served, but I was disappointed. The accompanying peanut sauce was also average, being quite glutinous and not very ‘peanutty’. We were given a bucket with some ice for the bottles of beer, but who wants to wait 20 minutes or more for it to cool down? Service was good and there was a nice atmosphere. Finally, it was the most expensive meal we’ve had in Vietnam, by a lot (but there was one glass of wine on the bill), which I didn’t think could be justified.

We had one of the best meals we have had in Vietnam here! Everything was so delicious & Jane our waitress was so friendly and helpful she made our experience great and enjoyed being able to speak with her English was amazing! You need to go here when your in Hue!

We ate here twice! It was really lovely food. Lots of options, fantastic friendly service - they even serve you fresh fruit at the end of your meal. If you’re in town I recommend giving the tasting plate a try. It’s great and was my friends favourite meal in Vietnam.

This place was amazing! Food is the best we’ve had so far on the trip. The vegetable rice noodles and Vietnamese pancakes are a must have. Very good for vegetarians, we ended up going twice on our trip. Would recommend!

It is a restaurant serving good local food and with a young crew providing excellent service, and they gave complementary drinks and food (randomly, I think). Target customers should be tourists because we didn't see any local dining there. Recommended if not too adventurous to try local restaurants with suspected hygiene standards. Addition charges if paying by credit cards.

Fantastic Vietnamese local cuisine and lovely service too from Lisa ❤️and the team. Great family business. Highly recommend the set menu 1 that will give you a taste of everything yummy here.

10/10! Delicious Hue dishes with plenty to choose from. There is also a list of vegetarian options on the menu for those who are looking. But it is the staff at Madam Thu Restaurant that put it a cut above the rest. They are all so friendly & welcoming. Offering cold towels on arrival & explaining the dishes along with how to best enjoy them to each customer. As a westerner who had no knowledge of local dishes I found this incredibly helpful & a really kind gesture on their part. Myself & partner were extremely lucky as during our meal a rainstorm began. This gave us an excuse to stay longer & we happily ordered a bottle of wine along with some more beautiful food.

Great options and extensive menu. The staff is friendly and most of the theist come to this place. The food was delish, I have the “roll your own” lemon grass & pork rolls. Love it so much! The special peanut sauce is devise too! In addition, We had complimentary iced tea and fruits for dessert. Definitely a must go place

Delicious Italian food in the heart of Hue! They have a great deal: buy a pizza and get bruschetta, a glass of wine, and fruit for free! The staff was SO kind and attentive, they made the whole dining experience incredibly special. Come for the food, stay for the people!!

Definitely this place should be added in favorite. Good portions, tasty food. I try seafood pizza. 5 from 5! They also have happy hour promotions like free beer, free fruits or free snacks.

I loved this restaurant! They had a great selection of vegetarian options and the food was so good I came back twice! The vegetarian lasagne was sensational and I was given complimentary passion fruit for dessert! The second time I had the pizza and was given a free glass of cold local beer to accompany it! The staff were also so kind and made my experience at the restaurant truly enjoyable!

Pumpkin Ravioli & Beef Lasagna tasted amazing. Small portions though for the price. Salad was below average. Fresh coconut is great here. Lots of options on the menu for vegetarians. $20 price range for two adults eating cheap. Will come back again. Slightly recommend

Good food and even better service. I had some bruschetta to start and a salami pizza - both were very good. Also, I was given a free small plate of bruschetta and a glass of beer! The server was polite, smiley and very considerate. I’d definitely come go back again if in Hué and would 100% recommend.

A truly unique and authentic Italian pizza experience in Hue. The menu offers a variety of options, including vegan and gluten-free options. But the real star of the show is the pizza. The crust is perfectly crispy yet chewy, and the sauce is full of flavor. The ingredients are fresh and the combinations are creative. It's no wonder why Zucca Restaurant is so popular with locals and tourists alike. If you're looking for a taste of Italy in Hue, Zucca Restaurant is the place to go.

Very nice restaurant. We went here for dinner and came back for lunch the next day. We had ceasar salad, pizza and chicken cashew for dinner. Lunch was the club sandwich and pizza. Very nice staff. Good prices

Rainy lunch While seeking for a shelter from the rain we came across this great place. We ordered the local Bun Bo Hue and a Formaggi pizza, the pizza was probably the best pizza l ate in Vietnam and the Bun bo was really good also. They treated us with passion fruit for desert which was very nice. The waitress was always smiling and nice. Would come again for sure

Awesome thin crust pizza for a super cheap price, included bruchetta entree, pizza, fruit platter for desert and local beer/other drink, all for less than 150K! Definitely reccomend if you want a mediterranean night. Huy served us and was super lovely and helpful.
