Really cool castle! The views of the city are incredible. The walk up is pretty steep so be prepared if you are going that way. Don’t miss the pharmacy museum and the giant wine barrel. The inner part of the castle costs 9 euros but it’s worth it. Also check out the garden in the back for even more great views.

If you like explore castles, this will be educational and fun. Starting with a hike up the castle is highly recommended! It made me appreciate so much modern amenities - there is a cable car you can purchase to go up and down as well (€9 will get a person up and down the hill for the castle). The grounds outside the castle is fun to walk around simply for the view it offers of the town. Once up at the castle level, get ticket to the courtyard. It can be included in the cable car. It will take maybe an hour or hour and half but seeing the massive wine barrel - it will be the biggest ever! and learning about the start of medicine/ pharmacy in Germany will be a fun experience in the museum inside. Wander around to the front of the castle the view is great not just the old town below but also the castle structure itself. Happy travels

The views and history of the castle is so amazing! Definitely a must visit! So many things to see and take in! There’s a great lawn to just sit out and relax in and enjoy the day. Tickets are needed for entry.

I can't find words to explain this place. Perhaps the most impressive castle in Europe! I wish all the interior parts were open to the public. The world's largest wine barrel is also located here.

Some really great views of the city and the area below. A lot of good walking. There's plenty to see. However, I was disappointed that I was displaced from the ticket shop for not having the right mask on. Apparently the n95 mask that I had on did not suffice. I'm sure this will change in time.

Great attraction. There is a train to the top, I learned this after walking up the dang hill. Wonderful views of the city. The architecture and decor are awesome.. The statues have amazing details carved into them. The garden is huge. The pharmacy museum was very interesting and offers signage in multiple languages to include English. Definitely worth taking family when they visit. Bonus, it's open on Sundays.

Beautiful palace situated up above the town with gorgeous scenery from its balconies and garden terrace. Impressive facades throughout the palace. Must do the guided tour to see its real beauty and learn about its historical misfortunes, the chapel at the end tour is exquisite.

Such a nice place! Both the castle and the gardens are worth a visit. You can access the gardens for free but will have to pay to enter the courtyard. Adult ticket is 9€ (August 23), which also includes access to the funicular going up and down. You'll need to pay an extra 6€ if you want to actually enter the castle which is only available through guided tours.

A beautiful, amazing site that has tremendous views! Over looking the entire old town, this castle is a must stop if In Heidelberg! I highly recommend going there during sunset because it’s magical to watch the city and castle grounds light up at night!

What a beautiful place. Rich with history. The palace is well worth taking a tour. I went with some friends and we really enjoyed taking photos and admiring at the grand and plentiful works of art. The view is incredible. The tour (i took in English) allows you to walk inside the hallways. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the palace.

One of the best “ruins castles” in Germany. We really enjoyed the tour through the castle. The views of Heidelberg from the castle are fantastic as well. It is a bit of a hike to get up to the castle. I would recommend taking the tram if you have issues with climbing stairs and hills or have strollers or older folks with you. The climb is pretty significant. I have now been to this castle several times and I’d go back again and again. Such a great place with such an interesting history.

It’s an amazing castle, I will tell any one about my visit there, the view from castle above the city is beautiful. If you would visit it, try to go before 5:30 pm, because the bus from down to castle through the mountain will close and last trip to enter it will on 5:30. It costs 14€ or 9€ for adults to buy a ticket. Garden around the castle is also nice. Enjoy 😊 (The stairs are long if you want to walk up, you can go up walking but maybe will be difficult for some people)

Amazing place, I could expend days just wandering inside and outside the castle, is simply amazing. The views that has to offer are also out of this world! I bought the ticket for €14 that allowed me the funicular and museums and then at the castle bought the audio guide which is totally worth it tbh. They had it in different languages. There’s also a Michelin 2020 restaurant inside the castle.

Very nice old palace, you should definitely walk around and visit the garden. All the surrounding are accessible for free. But the entrance to the courtyard costs 9 euros. It’s unreasonably expensive, on my opinion. The size of the yard and what you can see inside is not worth the money. The yard is really small and partially closed for restoration, some cars are parked in places, there are too many people... In addition, to get inside the castle you need to pay even more and book a tour. So I was very disappointed. But again, the castle itself is spectacular and worth to visit, just consider thoroughly whether you need to go in. As an advantage, free toilet next to the cash register😉

This castle is located atop a hill with beautiful views of Heidelberg. There are several displays inside showing what early pharmaceutical equipment was like. You can walk to the top of the biggest wine barrel you will ever see. There is a large open area where you can sit in the shade and enjoy the views. Food is available at a couple of different places on the castle grounds. The castle is accessible by foot (a little bit of a climb) or by train (tickets are available for purchase). You could easily spend a couple hours here.

Amazing famous bridge with beyond beautiful sights 😍. Pictures & videos don't do it justice. Everywhere you look here is a scenic view 📸. Was a worthy & breathtaking experience, also a great place for a date. Also, the famous Heidelberg castle is not too far away walking distance from the old bridge. Highly recommend checking them both out! 💯

A marvellous piece of architecture dating 18th century. Surrounded by beautiful landscapes, it is absolutely wonderful to stand on this bridge. You can see the lush green mountains all around and the beautiful old town. The arches through which the river flows down are a treat to watch. Right next to the city center, this bridge is mostly filled with the people.

Nice place close to the bridge. Alex at reception was very helpful. Early morning or late night strolls in the bridge and the town are easy. Rooms were spacious. Beds very comfortable and bathroom nice and clean. All over a nice place to stay.

The whole area is full of amorous feelings of European towns - Beautiful river, green mountains, heritage buildings and peaceful atmosphere. You can enjoy the stunning and amazing scenery. Almost all the visitors are busy with taking photos. Besides, the bridge is also closed to old town with much convenience. Highly recommended!

Very pretty bridge over Neckar River built in late 1700s. It presents a lovely landscape of Heidelberg by two sides.

We visited this place on a really hot summer day so I was quite fuzzy and confused while being there, but you can't mistake that view, can you? The sky had a lovely color and we were able to enjoy our short trip to that bridge. Maybe we should come back on a milder day to enjoy it a bit more LOL

It is a great experience of walking with so much beautiful view to the castle, old Bridge and river. And it is with beautiful birds singing and smell from flowers. I recommend to everyone who visit Heidelberg for not long time as it is the best opportunity to see all town during short time.

Beautiful walk with great views over the Heidelberg.. We walked up "snake way" which was quite steep so take it easy. There is an easier way if you enter from the west bridge.. It's worth the effort..

Incredible views of the city! The path is a bit steep going up and it's cobblestone, so wear proper shoes. Worth the effort and I'm so glad I had the time to do this. There were places to stop along the way so you could rest and take in the views.

Our favorite FREE activity in Heidelberg! Awesome hike with incredible views back over the city. We also went up to the Thingstätte amphitheater but could not get into Michaelskloster since it’s closed on Mondays.

Nice museum with adequate information given in German and English. Wide exhibition of raw materials (plants, animals, minerals) used historically and currently. There are also some nice to see items like equipments used to prepare medicine and pharmaceutical travel bags.

3.5 star, place is good and they tell you all the stories how medicines started and years ago how they used medicines. There is a machine also which they used to make medicines with herbs and all the vessels they used to make it. The best part is all are explain english also. They also explain how they used skins of the animals to make medicines. Its inside the Heidelberg castle so if you take the 14 euro ticket of the train which include the castle visit and this museum visit. So bookmark this location for your next visit to beautiful city called Heidelberg.

Very interesting place. There were a couple of rooms, as well as many old packages and some medical instruments. I, personally, did not understand the tools and machines in the laboratory - information about the various items would have been nice.

It is very interested museum. I liked it a lot because there were many boards with interesting information and everything was very nicely explained in German and English language. Entry fee is included in 9€ ticket to the castle yard. The only thing that was not explained is how is this pharmacy connected to the castle. Overall it was the only interesting thing from the castle that you can purchase for 9 euros.

It is a very informative and interesting museum. I have only been to a old pharmacy museum in the Netherlands before, but this one is way bigger, prettier and more interesting than the one I have been to. There is also a "cough syrup" souvenir which you can buy as a gag gift!

The pharmacy museum is an interesting place to visit if you have even the slightest interest in pharmacology and the development of the modern system of medicines. It was really interesting to see the different raw materials that were traditionally used as medicines and how they were processed and stored. The old pharmacy cabinets and the layout of old pharmacy stores was also rather interesting. Of course, if you are going to visit the Heidelberg palace anyway, this is something you simply shouldn't miss.

Impressive pharmacy just like it was hundreds of years ago. There are all sorted raw materials for medicines in jars and boxes in the many different rooms of the building.

A very interesting and informative museum containing thousands of pharmaceutical items to show the history and evolution of medicine. The hundreds years old apothecaries jars, cabinets and tools are amazing to look at. There are numerous plants and animal bones and horns that are displayed as ancient medicine. The information are provided both in German and English. You could spend as little as 30 minutes or as much as a couple of hours there depending on how much interest you have into apothecary items.

Such detailed and nice preservation of artifacts. Every room was resourceful. They also have a small gift shop at the end of the museum.

We came for the Christmas Market. Enjoyed walking around and that there were several unique vendors that had something besides the commercialized items. It was also nice that the booths/vendors are spread around to allow you more opportunities to walk around and see the city.

Older part of town seems much more interesting with its unique architecture. One day is sufficient to explore around. Plenty of resturants, bars n cafeterias to keep yourself hydrated n fed.

Although the day (2022/10/31) we visit was not weekend or national holiday, there were still quite a bunch of people walking on the streets. Went out of the parking space from underground you can directly recognize the pathway to the market square. All kinds of shops, restaurants or souvenir stalls along the road and walking here will immediately lead you to a feeling of leisurely vacation. During our walk tour, I can occasionally saw performances by street artists. This is definitely one of the recommended sightseeing when you have plan traveling in Deutschland.

Took a walk through the old party of town while visiting family. Amazing architecture and Quant surroundings. There is so much more to see than just the castle.

Small square as a center of the town. Lined with cafes and restaurants and a grand church as a centerpoint. Very close to Alte Brucke and Funicular to Heidelberg Castle.

Pretty freaking good place. Prices are what you expect nowadays. 14-20 euro per meal. Actually not bad for Heidelberg. But to schnitzel are so delicious. I was really surprised. Very fresh. Juicy. Crispy. Dessert is just ok. I wouldn't have it again. The garlic bread was good. You get 5 pieces for 6 Euro. Place is small. Make sure you reserve on time.

Best Schnitzel ever! Would recommend a reservation as this is a very popular place. The food was outstanding and the service was super friendly (although a tad slow - so leave lots of time to eat!) Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting this cute little city!

A delicious meal with the perfect wine. The customer service was very warm and amazing. I was alone and did not have a reservation. I had just a little over an hour to eat which was plenty of time. I recommend that if you’re going alone then go during non-peak hours. If you plan on going during peak hours then I suggest you make a reservation. I ordered schnitzel, potatoes, and with medium dry Riesling. The decor is VERY German and beautiful.

Authentic German cuisine, friendly and helpful staff, and fantastic food. They have communal tables and it works surprisingly well. Shared a table with a Japanese couple when I was there. Food service is quick, the beer is tasty and prices are reasonable. One thing, they give you 1hr to finish your meal once it's served due to high seating demand.

If you did not make reservations, it is safer to visit the restaurant at non-peak hours. We arrived at 5.30pm on Thursday and outdoor seating was fully occupied but there were tables available indoor. By the time we were done dining at 6.30pm, the restaurant was fully occupied. We had schnitzel with mushroom sauce, and it was the best schnitzel we had. I would also recommend ordering the platter of sausage, liver dumpling, pork shoulder, meatloaf, sauerkraut and potatoes. The potatoes were nicely cooked and seasoned. Sauerkraut paired well with the meat. I liked the meatloaf the most out of the meat selection.

We loved the place. We had schnitzel one with pepper sauce and spatzle and another other with cream of fresh mushroom and fried potatoes. These dishes came with a perfectly made salad which we really liked. The price was reasonable considering the quality and quantity. For us each dish was around 18 euros. It was cooked perfectly and tasted great! The service was also quick and the staff was very friendly and nice! I will highly recommend.

Very friendly staff that speak excellent English. Delicious Schnitzels with generous portion of salad. Just try to go earlier if you do not have any reservation as it is a very popular restaurant. Highly recommended for everyone going to Heidelberg.

Schnitzel was very good at this casual legendary Heidelberg restaurant. Local college students mix with older locals and some tourists for reserved seating. This is schnitzel in its purest form, light and crispy. The bratwurst was also good. My favorite was with the mushroom gravy, wow. Easy to share as servings are generous. Service was good. Enjoy!

Great atmosphere and food. They coped well with our table which had few German speaking people among a large group ordering food and beers. Service, considering, was good given the language barrier. The food was plentiful and authentic, although some may find it a little rich, and there was not much for vegetarians. We had reserved our table as we were a large group, but smaller groups appeared to be able to dine without reserving a table first. They had menus in English and German. Would definitely visit again if in the location.

Very busy fast paced restaurant, however the ambience was delightful and the food was delicious. The waiters were very attentive and made sure we had everything and that our food was delivered quickly. I highly recommend the house goulash on a cold day. Also be sure to try the beer!

Service, ambience and biers. Very friendly people at work. The ambience is like those of the taverns and is usually full. The biers were awesome. We did try their Bier probe. We could not try the food. The experience was good at this place.

They have the strongest beer in the world! Aside that, lots of traditional German food, good home brewed beers in different sizes and varieties. I've had the pork knuckle and traditional meat plate on two different occasions. The pork knuckle was a very big portion and it'll be enough for two people. Would definitely recommend the experience.

Had lunch inside here on a nice sunny day. There are some outdoor tables too, but only a few and they were occupied. The staff was really nice and we were allowed to bring our dog inside. The food is good, but not very special. The beer is good and there is a tasting option with 4 different types.

A must go if in Heidelberg! The beer is very good and they have a tasting flight that has a beer feature that is 33%. Kitchen wasn’t open for food as we went very late at night. Will revisit if in Heidelberg.

Superb, simply superb! Great brew and remarkable food! I strongly suggest their beer sampler, Schweinshaxe and their sausage platter (#132). It's so good I had to go back two more times! Staff is super friendly too which is a big plus.

Traditional German dishes and beer on tap. Bilingual staff and a variety of menu items means there's something for all. Would recommend making a reservation as it filled up quickly around lunchtime.

Unique local brewery we stumbled upon. Busy but not overwhelming. We were able to sit at a table that was reserved for 8pm but it was only 6pm when we arrived. Very friendly staff and helped us with English translation of the menu. Beer was brewed on-site and had a great selection. Food came out extremely fast and was delicious. The steak was slightly undercooked and corrected immediately. Worth a trip back for a beer and pretzel.

One of the nice brewery in Heidelberg with a Bavarian style and taste of Beer. Very close to the city center and the old bridge. Nice experience and mostly always full so if you are a big group book a table.

This was My second visit to Heidelberg, I heard about their world’s strongest naturally brewed beer and their seasonal beer. I had to try their menu. We set there and kept on ordering more and more. Service was as quick as it could be and they were friendly ❤️

If I could eat here everyday, I’d think twice for the quantity and the little willpower to not over-eat. The food is excellent German - pork knuckles… my goodness best I have had so far, but I have to premises with: I have had only 3, so take for what it is worth. Pork is perfectly tender with some chewiness and hint of sweetness to the outer part. Sausages and sauerkraut are such a perfect pair and the Germans know how to make fantastic sausages - loading up!!! They do have English menu in case anyone needs Happy eating

All in all a good experience, the restaurant is beautiful, food and drinks were great, room was good (comfy bed, quiet at night). We had only 2 issues - one that the staff did not explain properly where to park the car and another other issue where kitchen staff was not friendly when we asked for orange juice at the breakfast buffet. At the same time we also did experience different helpful staff who went out of their way to help us.

Went their for a dinner. It has a great beer garden. The inside is charming ye olde world feel. The restaurant was a little noisy which made it hard for the elderly like me hear. The home brewed beer very good. The lager one comes on stone jar (see pic). The Weiss in the glass. Both excellent. The food is German dumplings pork etc. well executed but simple. The disappointment was the strudel, undercooked and too many almonds. It’s a nice spot, short walk to the alt station. If you like German beer and food, you will love it. (I do and did).

Traditional restaurant with local specialties that all tasted delicious! The portions are pretty big and the quality was really good. The meat was tender and tasty. Beers are brewed at the place and they were pleasant! Staff was really friendly too. If you are looking for local food in Heidelberg, this place is is for you!

Great brewery and experience in Heidelberg. We were a group of 60 people and managed to get place booked and the menu set. Great experience, the place is quite big and can house bigger groups and also different groups at the same time. The staff can be a bit more warmer but it is a German thing I guess.

It was rather a tasting than a brewery tour and i would have love to actually learn how they brew the beer. I think it would have been even better if there would have been more storytelling going. But the tasting was good - and so was the food afterwards. The service in the restaurant was a little arrogant - but that did not disturb the overall mood.

Made a booking and wasn't disappointed. Beautiful setting with decorative elements showcasing Heidelberg. Service was friendly and a wonderful variety of food to pick from. Traditional German food leaving you wanting more. Beers were delicious and highly recommended.

Warm and comfortable atmosphere with the “rough” condition inside. The space has a lot of character. The food and beer was good but not special. The service was good even with a language barrier.

Honestly I can't remember what I had to eat, but this place is extremely child friendly, with high chairs and multiple kids. It might be a different atmosphere at night though. The only thing I can remember is our waitress Mihaela, who was extremely attentive to our little one. These little hand gestures she would do with our baby, our baby started to mimic. She definitely made the visit to the restaurant memorable.

Great place to eat in Heidelberg. We ordered pork knuckle and some french fries. The thing is that the pork knuckle is so big and we ordered one for each one of us and obviously we couldn't finish it. We would have appreciated if the staff had advised us about it. Besides that, we really enjoyed our lunch there!!

This is a very nice and pretty big venue in the centre of the old city. You can go there for drinks, dinner and dancing. They have excellent German food like flammkuchen, schnitzels and steaks but I especially enjoyed the pork knuckle. This together with their nice beers make it an easy 5 star venue.

We’ve had beers and the pork knuckle. Very good portion and tasteful! The bar is also beautiful, with walls made with rocks and very old/medieval characteristics.

The food here is pretty good. I would say that they need to diversify their menu a little bit more because it seem like there wasn’t a whole lot of options beyond the roast pork and the pork knuckle thing. I guess I had a steak but that pretty much sums up the menu I feel like. I guess they also had their apple strudel. That was pretty good. It was technically the best I ever had because that’s the first time I’ve had apple strudel.

Service was very good, quick and friendly. Atmosphere of the restaurant is also really cool. The food was mainly good. I had a Rumpsteak with fried potatoes. The meat was on the point, really good, but I did not like the potatoes. They were deep fried not as in Germany common made in the pan.

We stopped in here for lunch. I can say the place is really very nice and spacious. We were greeted by the staff who were really nice to us. The menu was very varied with a large selection. The baked potatoes were really yummy and also a lot of quantity. The meat was great and delicious. Really satisfied, will definitely come back!

This is a busy restaurant, but the service is good and efficient. The servings are large and the interior is interesting and rustic. My friend really like the schnitzel and sauerkraut. My cheese spatzel was a bit bland, once I added salt it really came together.

Old place with great character, food, and service. Try the Ox Cheeks and you won’t be disappointed. While inside, you will forget about the hustle and bustle on the street and the shops just outside the front door.

Very local and tasty! I ordered the pork schnitzel with onions and raclette with side of hashbrowns that was super good but I also tried the braised ox cheeks with red wine sauce and spätzle and it was fantastic, the meat melted on your mouth on every bite. The tap beer was also really good. The waiters were really nice and also helped us out to call a cab when we were done.

I was a bit disappointed of the overall food experience. Service was standard, could of definitely been better for a party of 9. Two "house speicals" were ordered for 22 euro they definitely cheeped out on portion and quality, a few chop with nothing but fat. They claim to have awards... from 2007!! This experience might be the reason why they don't have any awards today. If I'm looking for German food on the Main street this might not be the spot for me.

First and last turkey steak, good service and atmosphere but they were playing pop music which didnt dit in to the traditional German style.

Sat outside the front in the sun. They have a beer garden to the back of the bar/ restaurant but chose the sun! Nice beers, had three from Heidelberger Brewery. Food menu looked good but didn’t eat. Service was good with friendly staff. It’s right on the Main Street. They do take credit cards which is helpful, over 20€ spend.

The menu was quite limited, but it was still good to eat. A good German restaurant!
