don't cross the yellow line. that is a visitor-free area. you are can only approach from the front building up to the yellow line. to enter it, there must be a special agreement. you are also not allowed to bring a camera or other recording equipment. inside the building stored Ho Chi Minh's body which is very valuable for the Vietnamese.

We were not able to see Ho Chi Minh’s body since it was under maintenance, but the rest of the place is nice to walk around. There was no big wait to enter, probably because of maintenance. You need to wear appropriate clothing, shoulders covered and trouser at least touching the knees.

Not much of a history lesson. Recommend to read up before coming. Great display of the peoples affection for HCM. Magnificent structure. Take note of their hours and they close during lunchtime (I had to wait in the unbearable weather for an hour).

This the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh. His body is very well preserved and there quite a long que. It is well worth a visit and should not be missed. There are beautiful gardens and interesting places around the site. Nice areas to eat and drink

It is one of the most visited tourist spots in Hanoi. It is home to Vietnam's first founder shrine, pagoda, leader house, souvenir shops, and museum. Local entry is free but foreigners need to pay. Check the timing for the shrine visit and no shorts are allowed here. It is usually guarded by royal guards, so be careful in your action near the shrine. One time visit is recommended.

Very shameful to turn your national hero into a scam. If you want to leave during opening hours of the mausoleum, you can only do so after paying a fee. Of course, this only applies to foreigners. Just charge an entrance fee or leave people alone. Rude and unprofessional staff

It was closed when we visited as they have maintenance checks inside. It was really hot and humid when we went here. Be ready to pack light as there is a security check before you can come inside. It would be nice to also bring a fan or water.

I loved this place although it is very busy over the weekend. It’s a good place to chill and relax but too crowded sometimes. This is a great area to visit early in the morning or evening as sitting by the lake side. It’s a quite nice to having a coffee at a nearby café.

Day time and night time is very different so you can come around sunset to see the two sides of its beauty. It’s good for after meal walking as there are plenty of space for walking and seats for resting.

An absolute beauty during the evening sunsets. Very picturesque, with a red bridge lighted up and the reflection dancing in the lake waters. Come with your loved one, and write poems or just a love letter.

Love this lake, very peaceful, this is my first stop to sit and find the address I need. Next to crowded Old Quarter but it is great spot. I walk every morning for exercise and sometime at night for relaxing. It has the magic!

There are many things to see and do in the area. I suggest taking a stroll around the lake and enjoying the attractions of the traditional side of Vietnam. If you have the opportunity, I also recommend visiting the temple across the bridge, as it is affordable and provides a wealth of information.

Nice lake adjacent to Old Quarter, perfect for a stroll along the shores. Not too large so can easily walk around it in ~30 minutes, and nice to view from nearby coffee houses and restaurants. While there visit the temple in the lake, vey nice. They close the street around the lake in summer on weekends and people come out for fun.

Really lovely way to spend an hour in Hanoi, walking around the lake and then visiting the temple. Lots of great photo opportunities, as well as being a nice restful place to sit. Looks beautiful at night.

Vietnam's first national university and was established within the temple. A wonderful atmospheric place where it is pleasant to be. Neatly and tastefully maintained garden park complex. Tranquility and relaxation, lots of greenery, authentic ponds and buildings, a temple full of well-being and pleasant smells. It's make sense since they are used for student who need studying at quiet areas with ancient trees and trimmed lawns, where scholars would relax away from the bustle of the outside world. In ancient it used to be common to rub the stone turtles' heads, but now there is a fence that is meant to prevent people from doing this in order to preserve the turtles. wich honour talent and encourage study.

Must see. There are so many little things to see such as the architecture, reading about the history and education in Vietnam and the name of historically important people. The sones/memorials were so interesting. The place is also kid friendly and interesting for families to play games. The gardens are refreshing. Entrance fee is really cheap like $1-2

If you're in Hanoi, you definitely need to make time for the Temple of Literature. Tickets were 30k for those over the age of 15. You can get an audio guide in your preferred language for 50k each. We ended up hiring an English tour guide for 200k and the two were lasted 1 hour. It was well worth it. Our guide was phenomenal and very patient with all of our questions. I don't think we would have had the same experience without her. I was really wonderful to learn about past and current emphasis on morality and their education and to get contacts of why so many students will come and rub the heads of the turtle statues ( even though they're protected now and not supposed to be disturbed). Even while we were there, there were parents picking up their little kids and telling them to run up and touch the turtles' heads. The rest of the buildings have interesting history. There is a section of one of the main buildings that is set up more like a Temple where some come to worship, but mostly this is a museum in full of historical facts. All of my kids were impressed and enjoyed the whole tour. My kids are ages 8 all the way up to 15.

This is definitely a must see place in Hanoi. It’s a really nice and calm place to walk around and has a really chill cafe near the left exit. The entrance is 30.000 VND, but if you have a student card the price will be 15.000 VND.

I have never experienced such an awesome & interesting place in my life. This was my first time seeing a puppet show that too underwater puppet show. The show is in Vietnamese but you will understand everything they are showing via puppets. You can also buy additional audio language packs if you like. I wanted front row seats so I emailed them before & asked them to Book for me. I paid 200,000 VND for 1 front row seat. This place is must for people from all ages & kids would love it. This place has not ♿️ accessible parking but entrance is ♿️ accessible.

The Puppet Show was a great insight into the Vietnamese culture. It was chorused in Vietnamese language and hypnotising music that was just beautiful. Would highly recommend seeing this. I think it was just long enough to get a real thorough overview of their ways of life and their beliefs.

Fun experience. The cast is fun and lighthearted. To truly enjoy it, you have to know some basic Vietnamese folklore. It includes the story of the Sword Lake. Make sure to take pictures with the cast prior to the show starting. Splurge a bit more for better seats. It’s worth it!

Very interesting place and show. I rented a translator ear peice which I found helpful. The musicians are amazing with the old school instruments they played, truly a dying art. See it live while it still is available. As a Canadian tourist married to a Vietnamese, we both enjoyed it well worth your time and little money.

Once in a lifetime experience to watch this traditional show in the heart of Hanoi! Locals used to go to this show to just relax with family and have a good laugh after a long day of work. Approach this show with that mindset, and you will enjoy it even if you don't understand the words. I didn't bother with audio guide definitely not needed. You can use common sense to understand the stories. They are about life of locals in rural area and legends. We go the backrow seats (100k dong). The entire theater is not even that big so front or last row doesn't make that much difference. We were on the last row and had perfect visibility to the puppets and performers on side stages. We arrived a few minutes after the show start time and they still allowed us entry. I recommend to squeeze this into your day. :)

For the price definitely worth a watch - sure it would be amazing for young children! Definitely a unique way to spend an hour in the city.

It's a unique place, the small house with a waterpool and a classic oriental palace as a stage, and two platforms where musicians accompany the performance. The musicians are a gem crew themselves, with wonderful local music instruments. The show is comprised of everyday local life scenes that change one another, from planting rice to the Emperor visit. The legend of the Returned Sword on the lake opposite the theater is also played here. All the scenes prove the circle of Life is most important in Orient life. Another point is that this ancient art is carried through centuries and they keep it alive every day till today 365 days a year.

My first experience of a water puppet show. It was amazing. A 50 min show with stories of culture and village life including traditional live music. It was worth a visit for one time. You get headphones in your preferred language as the show is in Vietnamese.

My friend’s been wanting to take me here for a long time, and when I got to Hanoi the first thing she did was we walked towards the theatre and we bought tickets for the 630 show it was so good. It was so cute. It was so adorable. I would highly recommend this show for anyone. The puppets and the way they make the movement I mean it’s funny. Yes, it’s sung sort of in Vietnamese language it was but I think if you can look at the motion of the puppets, you can kind of figure out what they’re doing. The museum also serves to guide research, conservation, and technology that are specific to the work of an ethnographic museum. Can book tickets in online and also from the ticket counter. Food stalls are available. Parking is available.

It looked like an upcoming museum to me, lot of empty spaces. However some good information is present on Vietnamese ethnicity. There's a second section/ building which has some artefacts from around the world which was nice too. If you're in Hanoi, you can consider this place.

It was great to be back for long periods. I came a bit late about 3:30 afternoon and spend most of my time in the main museum. After that, I got out and experience the architectural gardens (this was a great experience 😩😍) except time was running out. I don't have the chance to get into the kite? towel. Hope to come back to visit next time with much more time!!!

I spent a wonderful time in this incredible museum, I loved every thing there. I wish I could stay longer, especially to walk around the open area with the different houses.

Last time I visited was 10 years ago but this was one of the most interesting and informative museums I’ve been to in Vietnam. This time I took a cab to there from Old Quaters only to find out they only open on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Wasted 1 hour and apparently a lot of people were confused about the time too because there is no update online.

Really nice place, the entrance fee is 40 000VND. Discount is only for Vietnamese students. The museum shows how they lived, and there is also open-air museum which is really nice. You have to take off your shoes to enter some of the houses in the open-air part. It's worth it

One of the best museums in Hanoi for both local people and travellers to learn about Vietnamese cultural diversity. Visitors can enjoy various activities and experiences on different occasions throughout the year, an ideal place for kids as they have special events on Children's day and mid autumn festival, and so on. I could see various and unique culture and people all around Vietnam here. The best thing was I could see and learn more about sapa people which I visited few days ago. The building itself was modern architecture. Also, they displayed kind of traditional buildings of Vietnamese people outside the museum. They are open to visitors and could directly feel their culture which was very good experience. The only drawback was that food here was so expensive and mostly not related to Vietnam stuff like pizza. I was fortunate to see water puppet here. I don’t know even a word of Vietnamese but it was just funny and interesting to see it.

Popular Banh Mi in Hanoi. Banh Mi is actually in every single street of Hanoi. But still, I want to check out the famous Banh Mi. It is comfy just to dine in. No need to stand in line. Take a seat and just wait to be served. The cafe is pretty cute. Service and food is ok. I tried honey grilled chicken with avocado and watermelon juice.

Bread was nice, got the chicken & cheese option. Definitely tastes like a normal sandwich and not as good as the famous stall in Hoi An. Many other options but good value for money. Prices are decent. Beer is warm. Have juices too which tastes great.

This was a great first meal in Hanoi. The banh mi was so fresh and all the varieties were delicious. One negative was the Green smoothie... not very good, need some acid like lemon or add some sweetness.

This place is very popular with tourists and I can understand why. The baguette was crispy and not too hard. We got two sandwich-styled banh mi — (1) Honey Grilled Chicken with Avocado and (2) Sautéed Beef with Button Mushroom, King Oyster Mushroom and Garlic. Both were recommended by the staff which were flavourful. We also got the bread with combo pan — pork special — which consists of pate, barbecued pork, omelette and handmade sausage. My go to place for Banh Mi sandwiches while in Hanoi. You can order takeaway or sit down across the way and order in. If you are doing takeaway, there's a line with a person talking orders outside where they make everything. Otherwise, grab a seat and someone will come take your order. It was always busy no matter the time of day, which I think speaks to their quality and service. They have a large selection of meats, but they also have vegetarian options too. I always got everything on it, including pate. Loved the full flavor of ingredients, including the pork and veggies. Just the right amount of kick too. Service was generally quick, depending on how big the line was or how complicated your order is. Be prepared that you don't get a number, they just remember you and find you if you're waiting to take away. Seating can be hard to come by, so just be patient as turnover happens regularly. Pricing is the best part, as it's very affordable. Highly, highly recommend you stop by at least once.

Disappointing experience for my partner and I. Booked a table for our Christmas Dinner after reading the food reviews. When we arrived, the place was stuffy and we had to inform the staff. The place was cramp and you can easily hear the conversation from tables all around you so nowhere near a fine dining restaurant in my opinion. The fried squid came cold (?), the table beside us had the same comment. The beef was tough and fried noodles was way too oily. The dessert could have been ok without the cheap tasting chocolate syrup. Their saving grace was the pumpkin soup we loved and their wine (this cannot go wrong). We've given our feedback to the ground staff because it was way below expectations. Though they'd given us a 20% discount, I don't think we will recommend anyone given the price tag. We ended up having to get street food dinner because we cannot bring ourselves to finish what was served. Overall, for the service I will say its a 5/5. The staffs spoke good English and were attentive. The food however was what we were there for, and it clearly was not up to standard.

The restaurant is very nice, the food taste good, especially the coconut beef curry and salad, that my favorite. The waitresses were very nice and come right to you when you have eye contact with. I like the waitress, Mai Nat, she was cute, polite and provide good service. If you would like to end your vacation with one fine dine, this is the choice. Highly recommend.

Had a lovely dinner here after seeing photos of the beautiful food and view. We walked over from our hotel in the Old Quarters and received an impeccable experience from Lily, James, and Nat! They were attentive, hospitable, and even brought us surprise cakes to celebrate our honeymoon! Our favorite items were the mango daiquiri, beef papaya salad, cha ca, and violet rice dessert. Highly recommend!

We really loved the food we ate in connection with our stay at Aura Boutique Hanoi Hotel & Spa. Nice wide range of breakfast buffet. The evening menu was delicious, very tasty. Great atmosphere and top service with very friendly employees.

Excellent restaurant with affordable Vietnamese cuisine and international fare! Two appetisers (the fried spring rolls and the mango and shrimp salad), two "mains" (fried rice with chicken and the beef in bamboo dish) and a dessert were enough for four girls. I was expecting it to be ruinously expensive, given the ambience and the location, and was rather surprised that the bill was only about USD 32. Service was impeccable; our server was very friendly (she speaks English and a bit of Chinese too!) and made sure that we felt very welcome.

This restaurant is on top of the AIRA Hotel. We are staying for 2 nights and opted in for the breakfast each morning. The food was incredibly fresh with a great buffet selection of western and Vietnamese foods. You can also order several items freaking prepared from the kitchen in addition to the buffet. Nora, Kim, and Tess immediately greeted us with warm smiles and politeness. They took incredible care of us and made the experience that much more enjoyable. Thank you all so much! Highly recommend.

Amazing restaurant located on the 9th floor of a hotel, we ate only western food and it was very good, after we finished we went up to the sky bar for a great view! Very recommended!

After hearing a fair amount of hype about this restaurant, I was left feeling pretty lackluster about it after dinner. There were some decent dishes on the menu like the green mango salad or grilled beef with onions (forget exact titles of dishes), but the majority of our other dishes like sizzling duck, steamed squid and fried prawns were all overcooked and under-seasoned. If you are visiting this city and interested in trying out different Vietnamese dishes, you're much better off exploring the more casual eateries and street stands as they are 1/5 the price.

I'd rate this 4.5 stars. Loved this place! We took a cab from Hanoi's Old Quarter to dine at this highly rated restaurant, and we were not disappointed. We ordered food enough for six people, and only spent 100 dollars. Not bad for a high end restaurant with beautifully presented, delicious food. I'd go for the Catch of the Day and the Bun Cha as my favorites, but really, everything was delicious. While it could be a date night type of place, there were families who were dining there, too. Dress just a notch above casual. Servers were attentive and kind enough to call a cab for us after our meal. My only complaint: bathroom could be cleaner, thus not a five-star rating.

JW Cafe is located in the luxurious JW Marriott Hotel. The cafe is located overlooking a beautiful lake and lush gardens. A real respite in the bustling city of Hanoi. The restaurant is very large and has food from all over the world. We were there for the breakfast buffet. And were in for a real treat. The service is top notch, for a buffet. The cafe was spotless and with plenty of friendly staff making sure you were nt kept waiting for anything. The local food was a delight, as was the live egg sections. The bakery and juice bar were very good too. And they had an Indian section as well.

I had dinner here for my anniversary with my wife and kids. I was very satisfied with food and theri service. For food, there is no denying that JW is one of the best in Hanoi. I had breakfast buffet quite many times when I stayed for business trips. I enjoyed breakfast buffet in JW. But this time, I was impressed with dinner buffets. There were various kinds of dishes with good quality. Of course, it cannot compare to 5 stars hotel buffet in Korea. But, considering price, it was quaite amazing. Very good for price. Especially, I was quited enjoyed with fresh oysters, which difficult to see in VN. Adding to it, They prepared a small cake for our anniversary. It was very moving.

Plenty of choices from fresh Seafood, vietnamese food, ( abolone congee and cha ca la vong, seared scallop were good ) the pizza was so-so ( it could be improved), and plenty of dessert menu. Sevice is tip top with super friendly staffs. Highly recommended.

Went for Sunday Brunch. 12pm to 2.30pm. I felt 2.5 hours a little short, should be 3 hours. At about 1.45pm when I wanted to order foie gras, waiter said counter closed/ foie gras no more and if I can wait for 30 minutes I said OK (can wait) but think misunderstanding he thought I said it is OK (I don't need) so end up I didn't get my foie gras. Food taste good especially foie gras and tarts (mango tart, chocolate tart). It is expensive at VNF1,950,000++ per person.

A truly 5 star service. The staff are all extremely friendly and welcoming. There is a very wide selection of food available all day everyday. The staff found out my family and I were staying at the hotel to celebrate my birthday, so they offered us a lakeside table everyday and even gifted me a cake which was delicious. Trang in particular is extremely friendly and helpful, she often went above and beyond to help us carry heavy dishes back to our table and helped us refill our drinks. She also took the time to explain the local dishes to us and offered good recommendations about sights in Hanoi. Would absolutely recommend the JW cafe for anyone looking for a relaxing premium meal.

I was really excited to come here and it didn’t disappoint at all. The decoration is amazing and the staff is so kind and friendly. We ordered butter beer and I must confess that it was delicious. What I also like about this place is that you can enjoy your drink (inspired by Harry Potter) while you play board games🪄

This is my first time visiting a Harry Potter themed cafe and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. We stumbled across the place as we were walking on the street and instantly wanted to try it out. The vibe inside was better than we expected. Very cosy and quiet ambiance. The staff were super friendly and very responsive. They even had Harry potter themed board games and books! The butter beer was amazing and my the drinks my friends had were great too. Overall an amazing experience. We ended up staying here for hours. Definitely worth visiting!

Who knew... A Harry Potter themed cafe in the middle of the Vietnamese capital! Friendly staff, themed food and drinks and boardgames. Nice place to chill and spend the afternoon. Especially if you're a Harry Potter fan!

What a magical place! An all authentic wizard experience in the center of Hanoi. They have great themed drinks and even a potion class which is quite fun. If you're a fan of Harry Potter's magical world, you have to swing by here. There are games for free to play and a lovely staff team. Great experience

Very nice and cute cafe with Harry Potter theme and very close to the old town. They have good drinks, we took a butter beer and a cocktail It is worth a visit if you are a fan of Harry Potter series.

Had fun stopping by Always Cafe and taking my own HP photos with the complimentary robe they provide! Butter beer (non-alcoholic) is on the sweeter side and cheese fries were freshly made on ordering. Cheese was powdered though! They also have board games for rent and accessories on sale.

I love this place. Absolutely beautiful with so many cool Wizard details. They even had the harry potter books that you can borrow and read at the table! Must visit

Magical place! Brought out the child in me 😁 The whole atmosphere is amazingly well thought out and crafted beautifully. They have robes to dress up and even the Invisibility Cloak to try on (have to download an app to do that). They also sell a wide range of Potter memorabilia, usually not seen outside Harry Potter stores. The drinks on the menu are Potter themed, adding a touch of nostalgia to them. Loved the attention to detail in planning - butterbeer is served in a beer mug while Goblet of Fire comes in a goblet shaped glass. The service was a tad slow on our day and there were not many food options on the menu, but the fries were good (they were air fried, which is a rarity)!

We randomly found out about this Harry Potter themed café while exploring the streets of Hanoi. My wife being a Harry Potter fanatic, went crazy going inside. She wasn't ready to leave the place. 😁 We ordered Butter beer, both Alcoholic and Non Alcoholic, Cheese Twist, Red Currant Puff, Fries with Cheese. Butter beer is the best. We may come again for their "Magic Experience" class where they teach you how to make magical drinks like Firewings's Blood Boil, Disembodied Portion, Dirigible Plum Juice, Merperson Curse. Highly recommended place for all Harry Potter fans
