Everyone talks about Brugge but let me tell you Ghent we feel in love with. Same feel and look but less popular and I found to be more beautiful. Definitely stop here is so so beautiful and romantic and a place where they captured a time way before we were here. Castles and waffles heaven.

The town hall (Stadhuis) is a great piece of art in the finest Gothic form richly decorated with statues. It looks beautiful during the day and luminates at night.

Ghent City beautiful place in Belgium... With stunning architecture.. It's a great a stop off if your travelling from the UK to other parts of Europe... The people are lovey and friendly with lots to do.

Ghent Town Hall is a complex of buildings surrounding the Botermarkt square. Construction of the Town Hall began in the 15th century and continued until the 17th century, but was never completed according to the original plan. The Town Hall has 51 rooms. The Town Hall symbolises the history and culture of the city of Ghent.

Ghent is located 30 minutes from Brussel. Small city but with beautiful architecture. We visited City Hall, Several Churches and the Graffiti street.

This is such an interesting castle/museum and a must visit when in Ghent! The audio guide was entertaining. There are a lot of spots to sit and listen to the stories. I recommend you get the ticket online in advance.

An absolute must see in Ghent, the best attraction in town. The English audio guide was one of the best I've experienced. Great humour, content and delivery. So much history, stories and items. They have done a fantastic job in the layout and experience of the castle.

Castle is well perserved, and offers plenty of things for exploring. It is located in the middle of the city, which was convenient for us. I would advice you to buy tickets in advance. Time on the ticket should match the actual time when entering, otherwise they will not let you in (or maybe they would, but better to be on time). Nice views from the top.

I had the opportunity to visit this mystery castle around walking and in a boat and the experience was fabulous. I could not do the interior of the Castle tour and the torture museum but the exterior tour was totally majestic. All the surrounding areas was very clean and in good condition.

Fascinating history. We were so glad we had a chance to visit the castle but the audio tour could have been much better. It tried to entertain, and I understand that no one knows exactly what went on in each of the rooms, but the droning on about everything but the actual castle's history was a waste of time. Regardless, it's fun to wind up and down the staircases, imaging what it must have been like to live here. And we loved the armory and dungeon. There are lots of steps, but worth it for the great views from the top!

Beautiful place. You can get an audio tour and buy gifts inside. Bought the ticket there and it was pretty fast. Totally recommended and many spots to take pictures.

My favourite part of our daytrip to Ghent. The audio tour was entertaining even though I usually prefer exploring without audio but it was included in the ticket price and was indeed a great addition as it felt like listening to a story. The castle itself looks amazing and is definitely worth a visit.

Loved walking around this castle set in the historic city of Ghent. The free audio guide is hilarious and takes you on an easy-to-follow 18-point journey round the castle. Views were great too.

Wonderful tour, large castle and a funny Audioguide that explains the history in an entertaining way. Didn’t expect that. Beautiful view over the city. Hopefully we will be able to come again in a few years. My recommendation for everybody who likes castles and history. The full hour takes some time but it is worth it. No waiting times, but specific time slots. Partly outside. Didn’t book tickets in advance which was no problem.

Visit on: July 1, 2023 --- Reason to visit this castle? I already knew this fantastic castle but my girlfriend had never been there. Always talking about it with her, but never visiting, we decided to visit the Gravensteen. Unfortunately it was a slightly grayer day, but that didn't take away the feeling. The castle, which has been present in Ghent for a long time, and has been used and reused by many, is magnificent to visit. My girlfriend could enjoy the view and the way the castle was built for a long time. The visit itself was super good and the staff was always friendly and helpful. From the top of the castle you have a great view over the city of Ghent. Visit it and let yourself be surprised! Well worth a visit!

This castle makes the difference between Brugge and Gent! I love Gent more be cause this castle from Middle Ages is kept in a perfect situation and stands in the city as an outstanding masterpiece of architecture! I advise you to tour every corner of it and take photos of that unforgettable time you are there!

The audio tour is narrated by a Belgian comedian, focusing on the lives of the people who lived in the castle and a light-hearted way that blends history and comedy. You can move through the castle at your own pace, instead of traipsing through with a guide. We were there on a late July weekday, and there were no crowds. I would highly recommend buying tickets online ahead of time though to avoid having to stand in line at the gate. While the castle isn't furnished, there is a torture chamber downstairs that still has some of the implements. Overall, this was a really interesting and fun to her of a really spectacular piece of medieval architecture that lets you get a glimpse into life in another era. Loved it!

Amazing, it's like a small Vatican, the art and sculpture are quite simply superb. It is clearly much loved and cared for. Ghent is quite possibly the most beautiful medieval city in northern Europe. The architecture is astonishing. We will be returning for a longer stay.

The Ghent Alter is very impressive! Don't forget to peak behind to see the outside panels when they are closed! The cathedral is very impressive. This is worth a stop in Ghent!

Lovely and unique among the Gothic Cathedrals I have visited, and there have been many. The altar piece is my favorite part of this cathedral, featuring a stunning painting by Van Eyck (Adoration of the Lamb). There is also a great observatory near the top of the Cathedral for stunning views of the city.

Nice church for the Palm Sunday celebration. The mass is in Dutch. Very nice and charming. The mosaic and decoration are very beautiful and mesmerizing

The cathedral is free to go in and look around. To see the Ghent altarpiece you may need a reservation if it’s busy. Buy tickets online before or walk up to the desk and buy them there. The fee is 12.50 euro to see the altarpiece, the virtual reality headset tour costs more. The altarpiece is absolutely breathtaking. The latest restorations finished in 2020 have made it seem magical with the case it’s in and the lighting. Wow! There are souvenirs near the entrance to help you remember the altarpiece :) History at its best!

The cathedral is amazing; many chapels to explore aside from the capacious interior to goggle at. Highly recommend doing the AR tour and seeing the Ghent Altarpiece. There are also other large works viewable aside from the altarpiece on the tour.

Visiting Ghent with a group of first timers. Decided to finally check out the famous altarpiece inside St. Bavo’s cathedral. It was my first augmented reality tour and while it took some getting used it (only a couple of minutes) it was quite impressive. The augmented reality tour for €16 granted access to the underground floor of the cathedral where while wearing augmented reality goggles patrons are given the history of the famous lamb altarpiece. An audio clip plays for each part of the visit and then directs you to the next step. What was convenient was when someone bigger or taller stepped in front of you it was no problem as you saw the image playing at the time. The tour then ended with you returning the goggles and going upstairs to the cathedral to see the altarpiece in person. Having done the tour before made seeing the famous panels of the altarpiece that much more special. Highly recommend! Also we went on a hot summer day and we were grateful that it was very cool inside. Also, there are free lockers to store your cameras, purses or backpacks right outside the entrance to the augmented reality tour. All you need is to pick an available locker and then choose a code. Super easy and extremely convenient.

According to guides and recommendations, this place is one of the top ten things to see in Gent - and they were right. Well worth the stop, but I hope you like stairs...lol (but well worth it). Lots of great views from the top and interesting pieces.

Saint bavo cathedral, wow what a fantastic architecture and has huge history for this cathedral, spent around an hour just to see the architecture. Such a huge building in the middle of the city . So quite and nice to be here , amazed by the construction, must visit place when you are in gent , no tickets for the front hall , but to visit more inside then you need ticket , prices 9 euro per person . But I don’t recommend to get ticket. You can see from the hall itself .

It is one of the most prominent visual art of Ghent. This 89 meter high catholic gothic cathedral is certainly not to be missed. Needless to mention the amazing architecture and beautiful paintings that would leave you mesmerized. You can witness the Ghent altarpiece or the decorations of the mystic lamb here which is seen as the first major oil painting to gain global fame. The cathedral is open until 5:30pm and the entry is free so plan your visit accordingly. However there is a fee to view the altarpiece which is priced at 12,5 Euros.

What a stunning Cathedral with one of the most iconic artistic pieces the ‘Adoration of the Mystic Lamb’ painted by the van Eyck brothers. A must see! Keep in mind to see the Mystic Lamb, there is an entrance fee of €12.50 per adult. Can book a ticket online or pay on site. Price is the same.

Located in heart of Gent. Entrance is free, how ever if you want to see popular icon of this church, you have to buy a ticket (cost 16 euros, kid for 8 euros). Mosaic on window glasses are really nice. Also, there is souvenir shop inside the church.

Definitely worth the visit. Impressive architecture and obviously... The Altar. MIND YOU - the whole upper half of the altar is being renovated and is replaced by a 1:1 photo (originals returning in 2026). At first it is difficult to spot and there is obvious information available. To see the upper pieces - visit the City' Museum.

Characteristic Flemish gable along the beautiful riverside. A little bit disappointed at the extent of these buildings though, not as many as I imagined. Worth a go nonetheless.

One of the most beautiful places to take a stroll or sit by the canal enjoying a couple of Belgian beers or to simply gaze at the medieval guild houses. I missed visiting at night but I am sure that it is magical in the evenings with the night lights

Museum exhibits very modern and contemporary pieces of art and design in a city palace of 18th century. All the exhibitions look very good.

Small museum but nice pieces of furniture. A little trip thru the centuries looking at different types of furniture. The building the exposition is in is beautiful definitely also adds to the visit. It will take no more than an hour to see

I got to see the "Home(Land)" exhibition. Very beautiful and thought-provoking

Quite nice, went for the gent design fest. Was Ohk. The shop was closed. Had a very nice little food and drink set up though

This former city Palace has been transformed in quite a big museum with a more modern wing. The collection gives you the highlights of the evolution in design furniture and housing. And the kids have to search for some hidden playmobil toys during the tour.

In an extremely busy Ghent over the summer holidays, I've managed to get a table here, and I'm so glad I did! I sat outside, tables were covered and comfortable. Service was very attentive and would come to the table to check in often, without me having to ask. I've had the cheese croquettes as a starter, they were nice and crispy, not oily at all. For the main, I've tried the traditional Flemish Stew, which luckily here is made with pork as expected. The meat was tender and so flavoursome, and on the side there was a huge portion of chips I could barely finish. Would love to come back and try their other dishes.

Absolutely amazing place, one of the must go if you are in Gent. What can I say? It was a 5 star service provided by Dirk and a 5-star steak cook to perfection with a James Bond sauce backed up with a selection of Belgium beers. 🇧🇪 This is my first but definitely not a last visit in this restaurant.

Very friendly and helpful staffs. Delish Belgium food (with the recommendation from the staff :)) and pretty plating. Also the location is great with a view 😚 Highly recommend the breaded chicken with tomato sauce and the creamy soup!!!!! (i forgot their names)

We sat down inside for a drink. Big place with a first floor and terrace outside. Modern interior. Staff is very friendly. I thought we had to order at the bar when sitting inside but the lady was very friendly and told us she’d come to us. Had a good beer and got some snacks with it. Didn’t eat here so can’t say anything about that. All in all definitely a nice place to sit casually and enjoy good drinks (and perhaps good food).

Superb lunch, washed down with a giant pint of Hoegaarden - the Real Deal! Surf & turf was delicious - nicely cooked. Carbonara was creamy & recommended. Clean & casual atmosphere.

The lady that recommended me the local chicken creamy dish (can’t remember the name) and the Strop was pretty friendly and helpful. The food, the atmosphere, and the location were all great. Love it!

Very busy restaurant but wonderful food and good atmosphere! Chicken casserole was the best I’ve never had. Spaghetti Maison was tasty with nice bolognaise sauce and served big portion. We were so satisfied with this meal and had a good time here. Will visit it again!

It is hidden in a secret corner of the city. Highly recommended. The building is historical with marbles floors, an statue, great antique furniture. Two floors, with a glass ceiling with the appearance of a green garden. The food is amazing, real flavors, variety, wonderful bread. They take time to serve the food, what means that is fresh, just made/cooked. Ideal for a date, business meeting. Prices are fair for the quality of the food. As a recommendation I would ask for a more extended variety in vegetarian food or sides other than salads or fried. I would definitely come back!

I had too much expectations. My catch of the day had such a terrible smell so I had a stomach pain next day (maybe not because of that), and those small noodles… idk who decided to call it pasta it was trash. My partner’s steak was good but not fantastic. Staff was very busy and messy. Interior is spectacular.

The oysters were too salty although it depends on different people’s taste. Surprisingly the chocolate mouse is really good. Better to book in advance if you want to go(went there during winter holiday)

Must be one of the best classical brasserie in Ghent. Friendly service, great atmosphere and good food. Can definitely recommend the shrimp croquettes. Quiet and spacious terrace, although in the center of the historical city. Reserve in advance, as the restaurant seems quite often fully booked.

We did not have a reservation but was seated quickly at the restaurant. The service was good considering how busy it was during dinner. We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. I'd recommend the lobster bisque, cod fillet “à la plancha” and “Holy Cow Monsoon” Chocolate Moelleux!!

This place is so so beautiful, i love its architecture. I went there twice: The first time service was great and food very good; the second time the restaurant was full. We waited quite a long time and the meat was nothing special. As I would have given 5 stars after the first evening and 3 after the second; I decided on 4 stars!

The restaurant is so elegant looking, cozy and bright. But the food wasn't really the standard expected. The food tasted nothing, very bland and hugely pricey. Impressed by the decor, buy not yhe food.

Fun place to eat. I was with a big group of people. They mostly ordered spareribs, for me I had the steak. The spareribs were okay. The steak was great! Also some vegan options for meat, which is a plus. The price range is okay. The interior is special, you should see it yourself ;) The employees were friendly

Compared to the spare ribs I had in the Amadeus restaurant I had in Antwerp, this is much better! No dry meat and not fully roasted untill it looks black. I recommend the restaurant to serve the ribs with some different kind of flavours, like chilli sauce or garlic. Nevertheless a good deal for the "à volonté" (all you can eat) spare ribs. The potatoes from the oven with cream butter are unlimited as well ;)

This is my favorite restaurant in Gent. It is a popular one so better to make reservations. It has a very nice interior. Super cozy place. Today, I went to Gent only for this. Took away some ribs with potatoes and salad for €21.50. Super worth it.

Spareribs or spareribs. This is the menu. Unbeliveable good. All u can eat. The curry sauce on the oven potatoes is a must have. Service is ok. The rest rooms and the whole inventory are an eyecatcher.

Ribs, ribs, and more ribs. Great place, offering all you can eat ribs with jacket potatoes. Good vibes and does get packed out so I would recommend coming early or getting a reservation. The interior is of a cool design with stain glass windows everywhere. Whatever sauce they're putting on the jacket potatoes is crazy good. Menu wise if you don't like ribs you're limited. I also found it better value to get one of the deals they offer on the menu

Great ribs for a good price. The bathroom was out of soap and when I told them, they didn’t seem to care. Otherwise a cool spot with all you can eat. The potato is also amazing!

The ribs are very good but a little bit dry. The thing that is breathtaking is the potato with the garlic butter. Overall it was a very nice diner and the restaurant is very cute. The only bad thing it's the restrooms are DISGUSTING!

We spent our last family dinner in Brussels in this restaurant. We are a family of 9 people. After visiting the city center of Gent, we decided to eat here. 1. The location is easy to reach by walking. In front of the restaurant, there is a river and make the view more beautiful at night. 2. They have menu available in front of the restaurant. 3. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating. They provide fire outside to make the visitors warm. 4. It was quite busy at Saturday night. We needed to wait for around 30 minutes to get the table available. 5. They have a bar inside the restaurant. 6. The staffs can understand and speak English well. 7. The toilet is clean. 8. They have kids menu. The food is quite pricey. We spent around €210 for 9 people. I ordered local food a pork something with a salad, and the taste is not really good. I tasted so much wine on the meat. The entrance food tasted good.

No doubt, the worst rest I’ve been in so long. We all know about COVID restrictions and times, but as soon as I get to the entrance I cannot get asked how long I’m gonna be (it was 10pm). This was so disrespectful by the waiter and we should have left after that. We felt so pressured and only ordered those fried calamari so we could leave (btw, it was 30th of December). The free appetizer was so nice (luckily), but as for the calamari, they were so oily and the waiters didn’t even give us any cutlery. The only cutlery we had was the tiny butter knife that came with the appetizer. They wouldn’t pay attention to us and we had to eat it with our fingers. It was horrific. We expected a good service (given that it is not a super affordable restaurant) but instead it was miserable. Never again

Food was very good. (food alone 5*) That is why 3* given. Main Waiter was good. Very busy and even with reservation we had the feeling of being hurried through… Otherwise the rest of the waitresses/waiters were not very professional. Took away food and drinks before finished😡 (should have asked first) very hectic. We watched others get an appetizer from the kitchen… we didn’t. Waitresses also misinformed about product and pricing. . Eventuell Covid precautions-NO Distance between tables was lacking. I recommend eating here but not when it is so busy. The food was good! Typical Belgium

Wonderful spot next to the canal to have a drink and watch the sunset. The staff is wonderfully helpful, and the bites we had were delicious and fresh. The steaks on the nearby table seem to die for so definitely next time!

We ordered carpaccio, croquettes de crevettes, mussels and waterzooi. The portions were large for two persons. The tastes were really good. The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was so cozy by the riverside. We would go 4,5 stars if Google had the option! ☺️

Amazing food with amazing servers. I highly recommend Lasagne as well as their local sourced food. During colder days they set up gas burners to heat up the outdoor tent.

Lovely great value starter and steak frites two course lunch from the weekday dagmenu at €27 plus drinks. Friendly staff and a nice atmosphere beside the canal.

Amazing food!! Great service, the hosts are super welcoming and they explain each dish very well. You can choose between 3 types of menus (one is vegetarian) and have a super nice and romantic dinner 😊

Very good experience. I live in Namur but I took the train almost 2 hours to get to this restaurant and I'm not disappointed at all. Very good food, Thai taste, good atmosphere in the restaurant, very good service. Location is good, in the center of the ville, easy to find. Highly recommended! I will come back for sure.

Good service, nice atmosphere and very good Thai food! Recommended! Only caveat - it is extremely spicy - very much like the original and also the dishes with just one chili on the menu - so if you are sensitive to heat it‘s not for you - otherwise a nice place. One star less due to lack of less spicy alternatives and the lack of guidance by the staff on the matter.

I so much wish to give more stars but I can't... I love Thai food and was looking forward to our Kin Khao reservation for weeks now. The atmosphere and service were good - the people attentive and friendly. But the food ... too spicy and the meat - rubbery. There might have been an issue with the spicy levels on that particular evening because several tables were complaining and the waitress explained that the she would warn the chef... But unfortunately it ruined our experience.

Although the food was good, I did not enjoy it since the menu was designed in a way that either I was obliged to order the same food that my partner choose or my partner was obliged to stick to my choice. There were 2 menus and 2 of us at the table, could not choose different menus! It was just fine till I found out that it is not the only obligatory choice! Each menu had 2-4 options per course, but we (the people sitting at the same table) were not allowed to choose different dishes for each course! So how can I enjoy a meal while my taste and choice is not respected?!
