Excellent aquarium. The layout and flow offer you different perspectives of the sharks, dolphins and seals at different points. The various world regions and animals are thorough. The location is easy and beautiful. A fun 2-3 hours. Buy tickets online through their official website and be careful of discounted sites.

I visited Genoa on a cruise and went to the aquarium. It was so amazing!!!! I love animals so much and they had some cool and really cute animals. I would highly recommend going here if you ever visit Genoa. Going earlier is definitely better before field trips.

A very nice aquarium with a variety of fish and aquatic animals. It’s worthwhile visiting and you could easily spend a couple of hours if not half a day. If you are with kids, you should plan on spending half a day here as there are plenty to see and will keep the kids interested. The exotic fish and marine life is well kept although one can always argue if the environment they are kept in is truly fair, especially for the marine mammals such as the dolphins and larger fish such as the sharks. The penguins are an added attraction here. You could take a break at the cafe inside the aquarium and spend some time taking in the views from the deck, with the views of the port.

I visited the aquarium with my school and it was a really nice experience. There is an enormous collection of all kind of sea creatures. We also saw penguins, crocodiles and turtles. Obviously there were also scary and strange sharks. Furthermore we were lucky enough to see a dolphin show. If you plan to visit this place I highly recommend you call them and get your tickets in advanced, because it can get very crowded very fast.

Really great aquarium with beautiful exhibits and wonderful experiences for all ages. Book tickets in advance. Get there as early as possible if you'd rather not have too overwhelming a crowd. Not always convenient lifts/enough for strollers and accessibility.

Wonderful aquarium. Compared to other similar places, this is quite large, the kids were very happy. We stayed about 4 hours (including nice lunch at the terrace with beautiful view over harbour). Price is quite high, but it is a half-day event.

Amazing place. The animals are well looked after, lovely variety of marine life, friendly staff and a great gift assortment with 2 gift shops. Spent roughly 4 hours here and was time well spent. Would definitely recommend

After a quick breakfast, we visited the Aquarium of Genoa. We recommend going early in order to beat the crowds. It’s never that big of a crowd, although any crowd will obstruct your viewing experience. It’s very impressive, their selection. Penguins, piranhas, sturgeon, manatees, seals, dolphins, sharks, chameleons, jellyfish - they’ve got it all. Totally fun for the whole family and very fun to shoot video.

Make sure to buy your ticket before you go, queues out the front can be ridiculously long, and exhibits are crazily busy, especially in school holidays. Amazing array of creatures and sea life, although was wary that some enclosures felt insufficiently deep or wide. Gift shop #sucked.

A big and good museum. The maritime museum offers a good overview of Genova’s naval and maritime activities from the late middle ages to now. The have several life size ships inside the building that you can walk through, which is impressive, especially the medieval galley. They provide much information, but not always with a translation of the Italian. A special treat is the visit to the submarine nearby, which is amazing. There is an interesting part on emigration and immigration. Some floors have special exhibitions. The top floor offers a wonderful view of the city with some indications of important structures. If you would find the museum a bit too big, because the entire visit can take a few hours, you can always skip parts.

If you enjoy maritime history and exhibits, put the Galata Museo del Mare on your list of things to do in Genoa. Five floors of interesting exhibits across hundreds of years related to sailing and shipping over the seas. Kind staff, great panoramic views from the top floor, and though I was solo on my visit, this would be a good experience for families as well. Only challenge I had was, with my limited and lacking Italian language skills, I didn't get to fully engage with several of the exhibits that were in Italian only. Fortunately there is Google Translate to help out.

Nice museum also for kids. It's quite big, so reserve at least 2 hours. Amazing views from the rooftop. And you can visit a real submarine too.

I like maritime museums, they’re a quick way of learning the history of a city & culture. We came in knowing little about Genoa, we left impressed & wanting to learn more. The museum is laid out well so it’s fairly easy to navigate. It’s not overly large, so you won’t get museum-fatigue. Some exhibits are dusty & looking a bit forlorn, others were obviously sponsored by a corporation & quite spiffy. Did we wish there were more placards in English? Sure. But no matter, there was enough to get the gist. Definitely definitely go up to the roof, sit & soak in the view

A truly fantastic day out! If you're spending time in Genoa, I highly recommend a visit to this museum. As an English speaking guest, I found it a bit difficult to understand most of the detailed descriptions of artefacts on display (since all are written in Italian). There are some QR codes dotted around to access a translated version of the displays (there is free WiFi at this museum!). PRO TIP: Download the Google Translate app to your phone! Use this to automatically translate descriptions and live translate conversations into your desired language (to fully understand the interactive videos on the upper floors). BEST BITS: Visit the interactive "Immigration to America" to experience what it was like for millions of Italians migrating to the USA. You can grab a free passport and travel documents at the beginning of this exhibit on the 3rd floor. Take a tour inside a real submarine! The S518 Nazario Sauro is docked in the harbour directly outside the museum. You'll be given a hard-hat and a hairnet at reception at the end of your tour around the museum (just show them your ticket for entry). You can also collect audio guides from this location. Ticket prices (for museum and submarine visit 2022): Adults: 19€ Concessions: 17€ Children from 4-12yrs 14€ (Please note children under 3 cannot go inside the submarine) You can also buy tickets for only the museum at a cheaper rate (prices between 13€ to 8€)

It was a bit boring ,the kids didn't have fun there. Prices are too high for what is available. A lot of paintings without lighting to see as it should. The submarine does not take more than 5 minutes to visit, but it is nice to see inside it once in a lifetime. My children are 3 and 6 years old and I find it is not for their age because they are not having fun.

We bought the Genova museum card which gives 24h access to many museums. Unfortunately no way near all... Which they don't do a lot to tell you about. For example this museum was included - but just not the submarine - which they wanted additional 6 EUR/person for... (Didn't buy) In my opinion, this is not reasonable and ruins the supposedly good deal with the museum card. Regarding this museum, there was too little info in English to make it interesting. Woman at counter did nothing to make it a good experience and never informed about any audio guide etc. Several interesting points about navigation was impossible to understand as only Italian. The emigration part was good - you learned about the trip conditions etc.

Huge museum. Very interesting. Recommend. Also go inside the submarine - buy the biglietto intero. I bought mine from Tiqets. I arrived earlier than the time booked but lady at ticket office said booking is not according to any time frame and let us in.

The museum is spread over 5 floors. In the, partly historical, areas of the building, the exhibitions are sorted according to different eras and topics. The rooms are detailed and lovingly designed and are a work of art in themselves. So you walk through authentic interiors of ships, through Brazilian huts, through a submarine and much more. Two huge, faithful replicas of ships can be freely explored. The display cases and exhibits are very authentically staged. There are also sub-action options in some areas. Unfortunately, the multilingualism of all the information conveyed in the museum fails. A guide for non-Italian speakers would be helpful. Online, the information in some rooms can be displayed in different languages. For children under 4 years the museum is only conditionally suitable, since they find only few Possibilities of interaction for their age group, besides the entrance to the submarine in the port (in the ticket included) for children under 4 years is not allowed. Once at the top, you can enjoy the view over Genoa and the harbor from the panoramic terrace.

Interesting. I thought it had enough English for me, but I can see why some people complain about only the Italian for a lot of it. I still found it enjoyable, but maybe a bit high priced for 17 Euro. The front staff were extremely nice to me. Lots of interesting things to see and the history of Genoa and boats are interesting enough for a few hour visit.

Definitely worth the cost of the ticket!! Five floors of exposition and a great view on the museum roof. It has plenty of interactive activities,quite unusual in Italy. They are great as well. You have a simulator for driving boats and submarines. The museum drives you during the naval evolution giving and hints of the seamans during the different historic periods. The immigration section should be a mandatory visit for all children.

Amazing Cathedral, totally worth it. It is being restored on the outside so you cant really see the facade but the interior is amazing. You cant get in with uncovered shoulders or very short skirts or shorts.

Must see destinations for pilgrims. The cathedral is richly decorated. The museum collection is not big but very important sanctities are kept.

Incredible cathedral, wonderful exterior style. Interior is rich, as it needs to be when it comes to cathedrals, and the two lions from the outside I liked the most. The other thing I like in this cathedral are ,,blind doors'' on both sides. All of the pictures were taken exactly 6 years ago, in 2015.

No visit to Genoa is compete without a visit to “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo!” The architecture of the outside of the Cathedral, as well as the inside of the Cathedral are breathtaking in every way. Unfortunately, as of the time that I took these photos (July, 2022), the outside of the structure is being cleaned or restored so there is a lot of scaffolding, but do not let it prevent you from visiting! As you can see from my photos, it is still magnificent. Cathedrals and Holy Sites as amazing as “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo” deserve to be kept up and looking great, so kindly be mindful of that if you visit!

So surprised how overrated is this place. Probably for many people means a lot as a tourist it was jus a place to relax but also a wasting time. Do not pay to go on top is nothing special is not worth it, more of that even the view from the top is not nice everything being under construction.

A beautiful cathedral with a nice view of Genova from the tower. The affresco is incredible.

A definite must visit purely based on the museum they have. This is not easy to find within the actual "Chiesa". Once you find it you will discover an amazing treasure. For example it is said to hold the bowl that contained Jesus's Blood, as well as the transport of the ashes of John the Baptist and a few other items of intense beauty. The workmanship of these objects are incredible, using gold and semi precious as well as precious stones. Don't miss this place as you won't regret it.

Lovely cathedral. Good view from the Tower (5 euros) if you can manage the spiral staircase steps.

Lots of pickpockets near here. Found my bag open twice but I had my passport and wallet well hidden and not in my bag. So just be careful when walking around the beautiful city of Genoa. It is an easy city to walk around

Most of the Doge Palace was closed. We saw two temporary exhibitions, instead. One of them included the exquisite chapel.

Gorgeous place. We enjoyed it without a guide, exploring on our own. But it would also be great to hear some details, secrets, legends about the palace with a knowing person. There was a flea market there at the weekend.

I didn’t see much because my visit was pretty short but there’s was this really cool big room that I don’t know how would you call it. It was impressive.

This is a beautiful palace specially the lobby. I also had the chance to enjoy the interior garden. Even more interesting that the palace are the art exhibiyions. F.I. There was a Van Gogh exposition when i visited the palace. So check the activities before hoing.

When in Genova, you need to see the Doge's palaces that are open to the public. You will also need time to do so. We actually ran out so couldn't completely see everything. The opulance, the grandeur is quite incredible and worth the visit.

There is nothing to see in the palace except for the temporary exhibitions. Grey rooms with photos on the walls, that was my experience. I paid 13 euors to see an exhibition of Man Ray, that was appalling to my taste, with the only hope to see the palace from the inside. In reality, it's just a medium gallery venue, not the great Palace its exterior promises to be. 3/5

Well worth a visit. We almost gave it a miss, but glad we decided to visit. Some lovely rooms and the dining hall with the chandeliers was the highlight.

We met Maurizio who kindly listened to our questions and we had a great conversation with him about art collections and architecture. This palace is worth a visit and along with Spinola. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The palace is well looked after and also affords great views across the port and city

Only €2 entry for students which is well worth it. The museum is open at really strange times but hey that's Italy. We only went in for the garden but then found the palace to be really gorgeous - definitely recommend a visit here. I think the garden would be better in the daylight and it wasn't lit very well.

As the renovations are ongoing, we were only able to visit the 2nd floor. You will walk through all the rooms on that floor and learn about the historic use of each of them. Some of the paintings are removed from the rooms and exhibited at a special exhibition on the ground floor.

A Royal residence in its furnishings, frescoes and paintings. Not as grand as some others, eg La Regia in Caserta. but good to see from the Genovese perspective as it was decorated by the King of Sardegna in 1824. Unfortunately the beautiful Galleria dei Specchi is undergoing renovation but it is possible to see it from one end.

Yummy, traditional Genovese dishes. The pesto pasta was so delicious! However, I would avoid the bread service as I don’t think it was worth the 2€ per person. We came right at opening for dinner and we’re able to snag a table outside. We later saw a lot of people getting turned away, so make sure to make a reservation if possible.

The outdoor dining area was very scenic with a nice view of the plaza and fountain. I ordered a hazelnut pasta and it was very delicious. The menu could’ve used some more dishes but what was on the menu was good. It was a bit of a busy night but service was little slow but not anything too bad.

Quality yummy food. The pesto is divine and a must-have! The wine was great. Service was good and helpful staff. Good spot for a lovely dinner, and I will definitely be going back. The limoncello was so good that I accidentally knocked it over, hehehe.

I give them 1 star, although their food was fine and the staff are nice and kind. But it took me a looong time untile they let me in (although I have called and reserved the place hours before). And again a loooong time to take my order, a looooong time until they bring my food. Apparently it wasn’t enough so also a looooooong time to bring the check! I understand that they were busy but customers patience has limits, too! I was almost shocked! Anywa the food is good but the price is higher than other places. Try to go there early in the eveing maybe you can have a better experience than I did!

Just absolutely delightful. Not to be missed. Sit outside if you can for extra charm. Very cute, central location, just off the piazza De Ferrari, superbly lovely staff, but what takes the cake is the food. Nothing short of amazing and perfectly cooked, with exquisitely balanced flavors. If you think you've had great Pesto, think again. It will redefine how high the bar goes. Another dish with pasta and truffles is equally heavenly. The cod was fluffy, just perfectly cooked. My only regret was they had run out of the millefoglie, but the replacements were very impressive. Wine selection is well paired and remarkably inexpensive for a restaurant. Overall, what a memorable restaurant experience that elevated our whole trip to Genova! Bravi!

How amazing it is to encounter a great,quiet restaurant in a crowded city center! We had small pasta and lasagna - both were tasty and very reasonably priced.

Every thing is good, especially the food. The spaghetti and the typical cake are both delicious and beautiful. I just give 4 stars because I only had 1 dish and 1 dessert. I hope I will have time to come back to taste more.

We had dinner at this place close to Piazza Raffaele De Ferrari. The restaurant is really nice inside. We tried to take a table outside, but they were all reserved. Our arrival time was about 8pm. So I’d recommend to reserve a table. Between 8pm and 9pm the place got full and some people even have to leave since there were no tables available. We got water, bread and focaccia while we waited our food. We order Trofie al pesto, which is one of the many Italian pasta dishes known all over the world. It's one of the most famous dish of traditional Ligurian cuisine, made with basil pesto and trofie pasta. We also order a glass of wine, recommended by the waiter for that particular dish. Everything was delicious, service and waiters were also really nice. This place is more than recommended. Debit/card accepted. 40 euros everything.

This was a last minute lunch spot, but it was a surprisingly fantastic meal! The staff is amazing and the food flows close behind. They have the most surprising, creative food items like the mushroom tart and zucchini lasagna. This is a must if you find yourself in Genoa.

One of the best experience I had in Genoa, maybe in Top 5 restaurants in Genoa. very good location in Piazza de Ferrari, a chic and traditional genovese trattoria and the main core of the menu is "rosmarino" :) It is recommended to book in advance, fresh italian food, nice people, a good wine list. Fabulous experience with the "dolci", i try something with gelato and rosmarin and it was Delicious ( Baba all' amaro the name :)) it worth to spend some time there, also have a terrace. 30-40 eur/ pers with drinks. Tottaly recommand! Thank you Trattoria Rosmarino for this unique experience

Great food (but portions on the small side), fun outside tables along the side alley. Sea bass ceviche was excellent. Make sure to get there soon after opening, it fills up fast!

My husband and I ate at Rosmarino two nights in a row! It is delicious. I used WhatsApp to make my first reservation and they were very responsive. The owner is professional and attentive. The wait staff is very good, as well! We ordered the fresh tomatoes with olives/capers, the vegetables, lasagne, tortellini and tiramisu. ALL of it was excellent!

This restaurant is so beautiful and the service is astonishingly good. You can tell the owners put a lot of thought into it and everyone here tries so hard, I really appreciate the effort. From the moment I walked in, I felt so taken care of. The staff recommended me the best dishes and I absolutely fell in love with the food - huge compliments to the chef! - and ambiance. It’s really up there with the great restaurants of New York and London. 10/10 I recommend :)

wines are better than many places, while the Zuppa di Pesce has varying depths of flavors that intensifies as you get to the end - loves the portions of fishes and shellfish 💙 O, the foccacia is delish!! Loves 🍐 but bigger love of chocolate noir.

A very nice place in Genoa to have dinner. It is not very large, but if you get lucky, you can get one of the few tables outdoors. Food is very good, but on a higher level compared to other good places in Genoa.

The staff was friendly and helped us with our order and provided recommendations for local foods and wines (and spoke English) . The food was freshly made and very attractively presented. The taste was wonderful I would recommend not making reservations before 730 pm (although the reservation system allows to reserve a table as early as 600 pm) . as the kitchen is not open till then. But you could seat outside and enjoy the crowd over a drink

I was here 2 years ago and food was amazing. Came back and prices have gone up. Not worth it anymore. Coperto 5 euros which everywhere else is 2, pasta with pesto that we ordered for a kid (also kid portion) was 19. Food was good but since prices are up is not worth it. Many good places around to over pay.

Loved all dish! Very fresh fish and tasty primi e secondi :) A small problem was having a stroller but they helped us to carry downstairs. Nice place for eating out as a couple more than family(but we took our infant and was also great choice😙).

The food was delicious and the presentation was exquisite — but not all the items were worth their price. There were also lot of flies that kept flying around our food which made it very hard to eat comfortably.

Simply the best restaurant I’ve eaten in Italy so far. Made a reservation and since we entered felt great with the ambience, good flower smell and music. AMAZING food, everything we ordered was perfect and so tasty. Drinks were also super refreshing and sweet in the perfect amount. JUST GO THERE

Highly recommended. We had an amazing experience at Le Rune, even though we had limited time to catch the train. The owner and staff are all very kind and try to help you and accommodate you anyway they can. All the dishes were delicious, but the scallops especially were amazing. If we are ever in Genoa again, we will definitely revisit Le Rune. It was one of our best restaurant experiences not only in Genoa, but in general.

We had an incredible experience here for our last night in Genoa! The food was amazing, we’d definitely recommend getting the gnocchi and the focaccia for sure! The service was amazing and the staff were super lovely and helped us to understand everything and recommend their local specialities (especially their recommended genovese dessert) which we really enjoyed - we will definitely come back if we come to Genoa again!

We are over from UK. We have dined local but this place jumps to top of the list. Michelin quality and style of food. All fresh and tasty. Excellent value for money. The staff are so friendly and professional. Can’t rated them highly enough. Thanks for a great evening. 5* in all areas.

Delicious food, definitely a must eat in Genova! Daily menu is available on top of regular menu. Very friendly service and the food warms the soul. Will come back again soon for more food!

Last night in Italy and following the reviews we ended up in Le Rune. So lucky we did because we had the best meal we’ve had in all our time here. Pasta is delicious, perfect combination of flavours and super delicate. The octopus melts in your mouth and the fig and ricotta dessert! OMG I could have had 10 of those. Amazing food while non pretentious. Really kind and helpful staff. The high score is well deserved!

I spent a short 2 days in Genoa and ate at le rune the first night. It was so incredible, my brother and I returned again the next day! The food was delicious and unique. The staff was absolutely wonderful. By the time we came back the 2nd day, we felt like we were home. Grazie mille Alberto e Simona!

I crossed the whole city with my pregnant wife to be able to eat at this restaurant…. we arrived, no consideration, the manager told us do you have a reservation we said no (although there was a table for two 9:15 p.m.) I don't think it was booked since it closes at 10 p.m. but this is not the main problem here, but the problem was his rude way of speaking. He told us very dryly and coldly that it was not possible without a booking. it is surely an excellent restaurant but me and my wife felt that our skin tone and our features do not suit this GENTLEMAN. it's a shame to have to feel like that when we just wanted to try Italian gastronomy, my opinion will not make a difference but I wanted to post my unpleasant and hurtful experience I hope the owner will read this and fix this problem for future "atypical" customers for him. I also wanted to make a video about this restaurant for my channel to precisely test a Michelin restaurant in Italy but that could not have been the case, he could have just been cordial and told us that we had to book while remaining courteous, I will of course write to the Michelin guide to report this kind of behavior that has hard "skin" 🤚🏿

Our food lovers highlight in Genoa. Recommended by locals definitely not a tourist trap - for dinner a reservation is recommended. We were lucky to get the last table. The friendly staff made us instantly feel welcome. The food was simply awesome. Local delicacies cooked with love and presented beautifully. Ask the staff for recommendations as the menue changes. My personal highlight was the grilled octopus (polpo). And don’t bother to order a fancy wine. The red house-wine was perfect for the meal.

Simply amazing. Excellent selection of dishes, well explained by the amazing staff. The amount is great even for only one first or second per person. I strongly recommend trying the fresh made focaccia.

Went there for the first time last year & obviously decided to come back this year. Le Rune is a place to go, no doubt about this. The food is amazing, and beautifully served. The team there is so nice, they take time to translate the menu in English or French if needed. Kindhearted people for a very nice experience. Highly recommend, obviously !

This restaurant was amazing. Given it was on the Michelin guide, I wanted to try it. The service and food was great. Cooked to perfection. I’d 100% go back here again. The focaccia is a must.

I went there without reservation but was accepted for the outdoor seating, the place was almost full both for the indoor and outdoor seating areas. I ordered veggie pizza which took around 40 mins to be served, the crust is thin and crispy, it was big and enough for one person, taste was just ok as the veggie in the pizza was raw without seasoning or grilling. Staff was nice and had minimal understanding of English. Prices are average for food, but I am not sure about the drinks, but it seemed that everyone was ordering.

Had a great time here and really good food. We got personal recommendations from the owner which were spot on. It’s a little bit more expensive than a normal pizza but I think it’s justified by the quality of the ingredients and of the service.

A quite hidden pearl at the port near the main road but there was absolutely no need to hide - the food was superb, especially the gnochetti will stay in mind as the best dish of the 3 day trip to genova! The service staff was very friendly and attentive, despite the restaurant being busy. It was a lovely evening which I´ll keep in mind fondly :) Reservation recommended

It is highly recommended!!! Best service in Genova , happy staff, smiling faces and super delicious fine dinning restourant. We tried almost all the menu and it is really hard just pick the favorites ones. Indeed, restourants is very cozy and super well designed. You feel yourself very local , but when you see the presentation of the food and taste it, you find yourself in a very luxury and difference place. Basically, worth to go and try !
