This museum is dedicated to documenting the history of Solidarity, a prominent trade union movement in Poland. It has exhibits on the dedication of Solidarity to freedom and democracy and its role in ending Communism throughout Europe. The museum is free to enter and there are various facilities available such as a library, conference halls, playground, and terrace.

This is a great museum. It was large and had signs in English and Polish. The staff were very friendly! The museum in itself was great. A large number of displays that provided a deep view in the Polish communism and the uprise and rebel of the polish people. This is perfect after going to the WWII museum to provide a more modern understanding of Poland’s history. The interactive displays are great. They also did an excellent job of combining displays with recreates of rooms and places etc. They emerge you into the environment creating an excellent experience. The exhibits provide a great in-depth view to life in the war! This is a must stop if you are in Gdańsk!!!
If you only have time to visit one museum in Gdańsk, CHOOSE THIS ONE! We absolutely LOVED this museum, it truly blew us away. The audio tour was outstanding, so easy to follow, so informative and well laid out. My husband knew very little about the solidarity movement and walked out so amazed. The interactivity of the museum is excellent and again, so easy to follow. You are completely immersed in the time period and transported to each moment through both audio and visual prompts. More museums should use this as a model. Highly, highly recommend.
Awesome place everyone must be visiting on their trip to Gdansk. Personally, I'm not a fan of audio guides but for this exhibition I highly recommend it since it is planned perfectly and the guide is interactive with the rooms. Long tour takes about 2.5-3 hours where the short one lasts 1 hour less. Nothing more, anybody who is concerned for these solidarity values would be in love with the place after the visit. Go and check here out immediately, you won't be disappointed!
I really liked this museum. Learned a lot about Polish history and the Solidarity Union. The audio guide was great. Spent much more time here than expected. One tip: the audio guide also has an interesting part if you take it with you on the roof terrace.
Awesome place, buy with the audio tour, it triggers when you are in certain points and guides you through. Lots to see. Anyone with an interest in freedom, human rights, free speech should see it (and all jaded politicians to remember what happens when you don't listen to the people)
Absolutely recommended for visiting when being in Gdańsk. It takes 2-2.5 hours to see, read and listen to the audio guide and get inspiration by the exhibition. I loved that place for its price as well. I paid 10 zł and was completely satisfied after. I’m really glad to know that there are places like this one! I was very interested in learning more about the formation of democratic Poland
Great museum! In two hours you can learn a lot about the Solidarity movement in Poland and how create the domino to make communism fall down. Really worth a visit there
I really enjoyed this museum. Tickets very cheap and definitely the best audioguide experience I have had in a museum anywhere, it just worked so well. A really interesting insight into trade unionism and workers rights in Poland, powerful and inspiring
An extremely underrated museum: as someone who grew under the Commonwealth high school history curriculum, we learned about the Solidarity Movement as a footnote without much explanation. However this interactive museum told its visitors the origins, development and aftermath of the movement and how life under the communist regime was like. Everything was presented in English. Don't forget to visit the less visited hall nearby where the Solidarity Movement was made.
A must-see museum dedicated to modern Polish history & "Solidarity", the Polish civil resistance movement against Communist regime. The building itself is very modern, accessible and easy to navigate and the permanent exhibition has huge amount of exhibits. There are also many interactive parts of the exhibition. Great place to learn more about the modern history about Poland (and Europe) and about the struggle for freedom in Communist Eastern Europe. You can buy tickets online to skip the queue and the audioguide (comes with individual ticket) is very informative.

An impressive museum which tells the story of the Second World War with considerable clarity. The staff were friendly and the museum was generally very easy to navigate. My visit lasted around three hours and there was plenty to see in terms of videos, exhibits and text. Everything was available in English and lots of thought has been put into the design of the museum. Will likely revisit in the future.
I have to admit that I was a bit skeptical about visiting this museum because it seems like Poland spends lots of money on World War II memories instead of investing millions in present happier projects. However, I was impressed with what I experienced. 🎫 So, I got online tickets, and there was no waiting line. It's recommended to visit this place at 3:00 pm at the latest because it takes around 2-3 hours to see everything without rash. 🎧 Audioguide - recommend because it's nicely synchronized with the area you enter. The history is presented very well, and the interior made me feel like time-travel at that time. I would say that it's worth visiting this museum at least once. It's a great piece of work—a very professional and international-level museum. ⭐️

A fantastic museum giving an indepth insight into the second world War from the Polish experience of it. The museum is packed full of exhibits well displayed. My only wish would have been that the cafe had been inside with the exhibits as it took over 3 hours to go around and a pause would have been good. We definitely recommend a visit.
A beautifully designed, modern, emotional journey through WW2. In depth exhibits and clearly marked touring directions. Definitely worth a visit. The only downside is the lack of reception as the main exhibit floor is underground, which could be a problem to some as thoroughly touring the museum can take an upward of 4 hours.
Highly detailed museum covering all aspects of WWII. Taking you from the background of the First World War through to rise of totalitarian and the war itself. Everything was well presented in Polish and English. It covers a tragic and very sad period of history in a well balanced way. You need to allow plenty of time for this museum.
Detailed explanation of the events prior and during world war II. Excellent audio guide - highly recommended. Very immersive exhibition with good combination of new media, video presentations, touch screen documentation and war objects. Very emotional.
Every Tuesday free museum entry. This museum is very informative. It covers entire spend of WW2. Well designed and organized exhibitions halls. Well worth entry cost if you are unable to visit it on a free day. It will take you about 2-3 hours to go over most of the material this museum has to offer. Some materials presented show killings and murder, so please consider this before taking young kids.
It's hard for me to describe this place. I'm curious and scared at the same time. Perhaps the creators of this and tried to achieve. The museum is quite large, it will take several hours, but I highly recommend finding them and seeing everything here. Poland was almost the most affected country in this war, and all the pain is perfectly conveyed here, probably in no other museum related to the war (except concentration camps) there is such detail. It is a pity that this place exists, but the past cannot be changed, all that can be done now is to visit it.

Długa Street, situated in the heart of Gdansk's old town, is a historic thoroughfare flanked by notable buildings that links the Golden Gate to Green Gate. Though currently under construction, Długa Street remains an excellent place for walking and exploration of inner Gdansk city.

Very nice place to take a walk and start your discovery of the inner City of Gdánsk. Unfortunately a street area under construction. In the afternoon it gets a little bit more crowded,so if you planing on visiting with the whole Family or a dog, choose the early hours.

Really beautiful and the street is full of life! Too bad there's constantly a lot of people trying to get you to strip clubs and burlesque shows where they scam you and they don't always quit trying even when you say no to them.

The basilica is a colossal and intricately decorated Gothic Roman Catholic place of worship that was completed in 1502. The church's 78-meter high tower dominates the Gdańsk cityscape, and its high altar features a 15th-century polyptych sculpture with scenes from the coronation of the Virgin. Don't miss the 15th-century astronomical clock in the north transept and the church tower, which requires a climb of 405 steps.

This is one of the best churches I’ve been too. It’s very scenic. They have a wild selection of free displays to view. Also additionally you can pay to go the viewing tower. It’s a very long walk up, but you can see nearly all the city from the top. I’d definitely recommend going on a weekday to avoid having large crowds, but it definitely is worth the walk and it’s a great work out I believe around 500 steps. The displays show a lot of the rich history here!!
Truly astonishing to walk through the vast hall of this beautiful church. The interior is mostly whitewashed brick, but the sheer size will leave you breathless. It's one of the largest brick churches in the world and you really feel it when your there. Take a walk up the 405 steps to the top of the bell tower to get a great view of the city.
Pretty majestic inside, very tall columns. But mostly people come here for the view, it is excellent for them. I only advise you to come early so as not to get into a large influx of people, it spoils everything. The climb itself is easy and fast, the view is definitely worth it.
Saint Mary's Basilica is must see for everyone visiting Gdańsk. It is deeply meaningful place for the history of the city and it doesn't matter whether one believes or not. It's history and architecture impresses me since the very first time I was here (in March 1999). Interiors of the Basilica are perfect place to host copy of Hans Memling's masterpiece the Doomsday (the triptych) - the original painting is in the National Museum of Gdańsk (when I've visited the Basilica for the 1st time, the triptych was presented here and it has strengthen my overall impression of the place).
We had a recent visit to the basilica and it was a great experience. The church itself is very beautiful and big. We also decided to climb up the tower to the top of the church to be able to see the panoramic views of the city. Over 400 steps later, but it was definitely worth it for the views. If you are visiting Gdansk I would certainly recommend this as something to do, also don’t forget to check out the large wooden clock inside.
Must visit place. From the imposing architecture, to the very well explained history of each corner, to the amazing view you get of all gdansk after climbing 402 stairs. Its silent, not crowded and the entrance is free. However, there is a small fee to pay to go up the tower. For going up the tower, some stairs are tight, some are washed away because of the use, and there are some place were its very spacious. Going up is easy for both adults or kids, and there are some place to catch your breath
Beautiful church. If you can make it, walk up the tower. It’s about 400 steps but the view is amazing. Be sure to take a look at the organs in the back of the church.
The outside of this basilica is easily forgettable but the inside was bette than most. Lots of good art inside and it really has a lot going on inside. It is nice that there is no entrance fee. It is also quite big compared to other basilicas and churches and stuff and worth spending some time to take a look
The climb up the tower is 409 steps but well worth the effort. Great views over Gdańsk and not bad for 16zl. But the space at the top is very very small, only about 12 to 15 people can fit up there, so some waiting may be required. Please check opening times as they seem to vary, when we were here it was 10:00

I tried the rhythm and rose mule and a hurricane. Both were very tasty drinks if you’re looking for something a little more fancy than basic cocktails they definitely satisfy. The twisted chick and Mac was very tasty the garlic bread was a great side. Overall amazing experience and if you are a fan of Hard Rock Cafes this is a must stop!!
I can definitely recommend this place. The food was amazing. It looked good but also tastes very nice. The server got a table for us upon arrival. He was extremely friendly. Without us asking he told us his name, where bathrooms are located and brought us the menus. The fact that the server presents themselves with their name makes it feel more personal and exclusive. Food arrived without much delay. Overall it was a very pleasant experience.
We were here 2 times with my dad, during our stay in Gdansk. First time: Waitress Tasia (not sure with the name), was very kind and sweet and her work was perfect. The food we had, was delicious!!! Second time: Waitress Julia, also very kind and nice!! Again - food was very tasty! Both of girls are doing great job, always making sure if everything is okay. Big thanks to the staff of Hard Rock Cafe and especially to the people in the kitchen ♥️

Visited here on St Patrick’s Day for dinner and we had such a great time. The cocktails were really nice, the food was delicious, and our servers were really friendly. Well paced meal and we really enjoyed ourselves - you can’t go wrong with a Hard Rock Cafe!

We arrived for a late lunch having had an awful experience in another local restaurant. A really welcoming and friendly atmosphere, great service and nice food. We felt reassured that food allergies are treated seriously there, when the manager came to discuss the selected gluten free option. There is a separate kids menu which also got thumbs up. Nice decor with interesting music memorabilia. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a family friendly place with a good vibe and service.

Taste dumplings, good service, one of very few restaurants where I found English speaking service staff. Highly recommend this place. I visited this place multiple times in 2018 when I was on business trip. Ideal for team lunch.
Pierogi were decent, but tbh we have expected them to be better - especially considering the restaurant’s rating. Classical choices are advisable, since I didn’t like oriental variations. Still, very good and pleasant service, food serving and interior. As a con I’d indicate the waiting time (around 40 minutes for food + 30 minutes outside for the table). Btw there’s a space for kids inside.

I tried two of their pierogi dishes - one traditional and one sweet. The traditional ones (which come in portions of 10) are fantastic, just like homemade ones. They’re filled with tasty filling and quite big. It’s quite expensive compared to a bar mleczny but it’s a nice treat and perfect for tourists. The sweet pierogi can be quite overwhelming, so if you decide to get these it’s better to share with a group. There can also be quite a long queue and the wait time is around 25 minutes!
Loooooooved the food, atmosphere and service here! The best vegan pierogies and so many to choose from. You can watch the cooks in the kitchen make all of the food by hand and the decor is so welcoming and cute. There was a long line of people and we even had to wait a little bit to get a table. The food was so worth the wait… I’m still thinking about it.

Pierogi of the month & Pierogi Russkie + additionally we ordered kimchi. It was good taste but I wouldn't call it the best pierogi in town. Baked pierogi had stiff texture and cheese sauce was way to sour... I guess we were just unlucky.

Boar meat dumplings - good, but nothing special, we expected better; Jaozi dumplings - good, nice crunch and great sauce; Chicken BBQ dumplings - great, tasted like pizza in a form of dumpling, very much reccomended; Oreo chocolate dumplings - absolutely amazing, do yourself a favour and order them; Strawberry lemonade - super good, tasted the way I want strawberries to taste when I eat them. The waiters were really nice. There's an option to sit inside and outside. Really good quality to price ratio.

Everything was decent not the best burgers I’ve had, but pretty good. The sides were the tastiest part of my meal. I order The Godfather burger it was great had a lot of meat and fairly tasty sauce the salad was excellent along with the coleslaw. The potato balls were tasty. Only real complaint is you can’t order ketchup online. I don’t know whether they offer it in person but that would have stepped up the meal slightly. I recommend trying them out though as everything was fair priced.
Popped in here (thinking of getting just a quick bite to eat for lunch) and left so unbelievably stuffed full! The burgers were amazing, they had a deal on: a burger + 2 sides and a drink, for practically the same price as a burger on its own. Really good value for money. It was quiet given the time that we came in, so I can't speak for the atmosphere during peak times, but the decor of the place was quirky and cool, and the staff were friendly. Highly recommend, would definitely come back again when I hopefully return to Gdansk! Thank you
Nice place, not too crowded and great staff - our waitress Kamila was awesome. Moreover, the food was served fast and prices are quite moderate. One thing to improve on - Original Burger could expand their selection of beers. Include some sours, stouts and IPAs and not only those from Amber. Amber is a great brewery, but there are many more craft breweries that produce bottled and canned beer.
Original Burger has a great location in the tourist Center of Gdańsk. We even got to listen to a great street concert while we were there. Burgers, Fries but also fish fingers were excellent! Only reason not to give 5 stars is that we had to wait more than 30 mins for our order to arrive.
I had a classic beef burger with french fries and a bowl of coleslaw on the side along with a wheat beer. The burger was definitely one of the best burgers, if not the best, I had in last 6 months. The bun is quite different than classic buns. It is so soft and tasty. The patty was quite delicious and juicy. All in all, it was a quite good experience. Highly recommended. I paid 54 Zloty for everything.
Very nice people work there. I asked to organize a birthday party for my boyfriend, because we were far away. They did everything very cool. Everything was organized quickly, the night before the birthday. Thank you very much for the nice staff! Boyfriend really liked the burgers, he said they were the tastiest in Gdańsk.

Almost a 4 star but extra points for the terrace which provides great people watching. Basic tourist restaurant burger. Ingredients seemed fresh, I don’t know. The brioche bun and the beer was definitely the highlight of the meal.

There is not so much to say - just delicious! Plenty of choice, you can try different types of pierogi - classic, Asian, vegetarian, sweet etc... and everything is fresh, tasty and making you come back and try more. Additionally - good pricing :)
A very traditional yet modern restaurant that was recommended to me by a polish friend. Their ambiance is nice and has lots of space. They serve delicious dumplings of many different kinds. The dishes are well served and the price is good. Service is impecable! Recommend!
Although the food was very good, the service was not. The waiters were slow and seemed a bit confused. The food for the different people in our group of 6 didn't come at the same time. When the second "batch" came, the people who got their food first already finished eating. As I said, the food was excelent, but the expreience was ruined by the service and long waiting times.
Great place if you’re craving any kind of Dumplings! Lots of variety from different countries and styles, including dessert sweet dumplings. Be aware the “furnace” dumplings are more like a hot pocket than a dumping, but still good. Make sure to get the tea as it it fantastic! Overall a solid option for anyone looking for dumplings with good service.
They don't take reservations and it's a popular place. Hence the waiting Time was around 35 min for a table and then additional 30 min at least for the food (which we were informed about), but it was worth it. :) nice service as well and many locals.
It is that good that I lines up for 45 minutes. They are the master of dumpling that you can choose from Polish traditional and international taste like Thai, Korea, Russia. It is so fresh and well-made. I really love the sauce combination that they provide. I also tried their soup and tea, which are moderate good. The food come faster than I thought and the service is amazing. The staff can communicate in English. I need to pack some home. It is very filling your stomach.
Lots of choices of delicious periogi from traditional to oven baked and deep fried. We tried the wild boar, beef and spinach feta traditional, and the beef and thousand island oven baked. All were delicious. We also had yummy chocolate and blueberry sweet periods for dessert. Come early as restaurant is busy in afternoon.
So glad I didn’t miss this place. I just missed the lunch rush so was able to get a table still as a solo person. I got the rye soup, strawberry lemonade, a plate of boar and mushroom sauce dumplings, and sauerkraut for about 68zloty / €15 euro. Really good value and portions! And delicious of course. The servers were nice, and thankfully spoke English. There is even a little window where you can see them rolling the dough and preparing the dumplings which was fun.
Super restaurant for the best pierogi in Gdansk! The staff were friendly and the fresh dumplings were so good! The menu had so many fillings and a choice of boiled, fried or with a yeast dough. Highly recommend and dogs are welcome too! The pierogi are freshly made to order so during busy times there is a wait of 45min. I recommend the soups for a starter while you wait! I tried the MAZURSKIE (12 pcs.) Deep fried dumplings with white sausage, mushrooms and onion served with sauce based on hand-grated horseradish.
We had a wonderful lunch here with lots of vegetarian options. I had no idea that dessert pierogis were a thing! Everything we ate was delicious. We had both soups and a variety of perogies. I will be back every time I'm in town again. The staff was also wonderful.
Dumplings were super tasty and worth eating everyday! 😋 I was surprised how affordable it was. Also loved the ambiance of the place. Very comforting and staff were accomodating. 100% would eat here again! 💯

This small wine bar located on Mariacka Street in the heart of Gdansk is famous for its Mediterranean specialties and excellent service. When the weather is nice, the beautiful terrace invites to sit back and enjoy the sun.

I had a wonderful dinner here with my wife. The restaurant is charming, with a red rustic interior and good music playing. The lighting is a bit strange/intense on the upstairs serving area, but it's very cozy nonetheless. The food was prepared reasonably fast, and the waiter gave us some good recommendations on wine to pair with our food. We both ordered steaks, which came beautifully presented. I wanted my medium rare, so I was disappointed when the steak turned out to be gray, with only a hint of pink when I cut the first bite. Before sending it back, I took another cut to be sure, and to my relief it was red, beautiful and very tasty. Phew! Despite the disappointing first bite, we also got some fresh bread, with home made spring onion oil, and a free "dessert shot" made form home made raspberry syrup and some spirit I don't remember, and this pushes the experience up to 5 stars.
Fabulous and charming restaurant with welcoming owners who really try to make your dining out a real experience. A cosy establishment with real atmosphere, there aren’t too many tables here so you do need to book in advance to ensure you aren’t disappointed. The food is of such a high standard I was quite surprised, everything I ate was truly wonderful. This isn’t an inexpensive place by Polish standards but to get this quality in the UK you would be spending far greater. And to top it off we were given the treat of some home made vodka, which I must say was pretty darn good. I must say this should be on your to visit list if you come to Gdańsk if you like good food and fine wines - I will definitely be returning.
This has been one of our favourite places to come each time we visit Gdansk. So far, we have visited Literacka three tim, s and it has always been a pleasure. It's expensive, yes, but the quality of the food and the service are amongst the best places in Gdansk. Although their menu does not offer anything for children, they did offer to make a grilled chicken and vegetables which our child loved. We can only highly recommend this place 🍷

Simply the best food in Gdansk Old Town. We have visited this restaurant several times over the last few years - and it always has been a great experience. Certainly not cheap, but nothing comes close. It’s fairly small inside so won’t work for large groups. Be sure to make a reservation when you visit on a weekend.
Delicious food and really excellent service! Can highly recommend the cheese platter, we went back for it a second night :) (though on the first night it was much better - more cheese and more variety)

Already 4th or 5th time. Always when in Gdansk. And always great. I like to have table at ground floor, just never had success to have window one;) and this rime was missing french music, which was always here;))) but as always everything was great. Nothing to add. What you need, just book the table, because place is always full, and not so big. Enjoy! And big thanks to you guys!

WOW! Best atmosphere ever, just infront of the church. Professional and charmy staff, always near the table wanting us to have a perfect evening. The duck was really good, also the tagliatelle!
