The ticket cost around 6 euros per person including the museum and the Chapel of Bones. It's quite an experience to see the master mind of architecture of the chapel using real human bones. (If you are a sensitive person, it might be overwhelming). The museum contains valuable historic paintings and statues of the Catholic church history.

I was expecting something bigger to be honest. The price is a bit high for something that takes you 5min to see. You have access to a small museum though, to the rooftop of the church and to temporary exhibitions (it was the nativity represented around the world when I visited). Ticket is 5e for adults, 3.5 for students. You can pay by card only from 10e.

A simply amazing place in Évora! Definitely, a must on the list of any traveler. The chapel is beyond impressive and it's unique. The pictures speak for themselves. If you have an issue with seeing bones and death, heads up, there are also mummies exposed there and there are bones all over the walls.

What a interesting place to visit. Literally a chapel built with the remains of thousands plastered into the walls a a memorial to how short life is. History shows a church founded by the Franciscans in 1200. The nativity’s from around the world were a sight to see.

It is an interesting place to visit in Evora, it definitely is something different I have not seen anywhere else. The Chapel of Bones is a small chapel built with bones and skulls on the columns and on the walls all around. Visiting the Chapel gives a good reminder about the fact that everything is temporary and the explanations in the chapel help give more context about it. When we visited there were also two mummies of a dad and a son. Included in the ticket you also have an exhibition about the Nativity around the world. Overall I would say that this is an interesting site and definitely if you are in Evora I would recommend stopping by.

Very somber but beautiful visit. Go early or in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. It is a quick visit. The ticket includes a museum and is reasonably priced.

Everywhere there is written that’s an unmissable spot and.. couldn’t agree more! The inscription at the entrance gives already chills. And the interiors are really ground for reflection about life and death. Beautiful in a creepy way. Definitely take the time to go and visit it.

The Capela dos Ossos is one of the most visited places in Evora. For me, It was a mix of feelings, scary and impressive. It was built by Franciscan monks. An estimated 5,000 corpses were exhumed to decorate the walls of the chapel. The bones, which came from ordinary people who were buried in Évora's medieval cemeteries, were arranged by the Franciscans in a variety of patterns

Very much impressed with the chapel of bones. Highly recommend to visit. In addition there are a special exhibition of personal collections of nativity from all around world. Personally it was so much interesting that i can see all different cultural presentations.

Do not miss this! The chapel was an incredible site! I’ve never seen anything like it. And the church next door is majestic and captivating as well.

Expected more but it’s different then anything I have ever seen. I can’t believe they actually used human bones in the making of this chapel. Some of the artifacts like the picture of the cup are over 1,000 years old. The history in these old countries never ceases to amaze me.

While it's very impressive to see the remains of this ancient temple still standing 2,000 years after it was built, there's not much to it. It's just this structure. Don't get me wrong, I love the town of Evora. It is adorable, but the temple alone is not that impressive.

Love coming back to this place. Brings me childhood memories. It’s incredible to see such an old structure embedded in the middle of this amazing city, inspiring with its presence for centuries. There is no Évora without its ex-libris 🤩

The ruins are very beautiful and makes you think about our culture and heritage a lot. There's a park around it and also a little café which pairs up nicely, you can stop for a refreshing drink and enjoy the view. Nothing really that much to see since the ruins are pretty high and you can't get that close up, but overall a nice place for some pics.

A must visit when you are in Evora. The temple is still in fairly good condition. Access is best by foot but it's possible to reach it by car, parking might be hard to find.

This is a nice spot to sit on a late summer afternoon and soak up some sun. The ruin is impressive, and it's right next to the Museum do Frei Manuelo do Cenáculo and very near the Cathedral of Evora.

Fascinating to see such an ancient structure. Located at a square in one of the highest points in Évora, it is surrounded by other historic structures, an excellent winery / restaurant and a lovely park overlooking the countryside (from which you can see the viaduct in the distance.)

One of the main sights of Evora. The ruins are impressive but there is not much to look at. There are a few more things of interest in nearby though (restaurants, a little park, museums and the cathedral).

Cool but not much information given on it. If in Evora check it out but I wouldn’t go out of my way to come see it.

From other reviews we were expecting these Roman Baths to be difficult to find but once you have identified the building - the town hall - the receptionist pointed us in the direction of the baths and gave us an explanatory leaflet that was in English as well as Portuguese. The baths are interesting as much for their situation in the middle of the building, you can see offices through windows around them, as for the construction of the baths. The bath is a 9 m circular bath with steps like a jacuzzi and there are some remains from the furnace too. It isn't worth going out of your way for but if you are passing Monday to Friday in office hours then pop in and see.

Inside the town hall you can visit an archeological discovery, the ruins of a Roman bath. From the ground level separated by glass you can see the bath that is located beneath the current ground level, quite impressive.

It is currently closed due to renovations on the building (as per May 2023). So check in advance.

The church is nice, the bones chapel is ok the exhibition is poor as it gets. Looks like a big tourist gifts shop. You cannot pay with credit card which is aligned with the age of the church itself

A true piece of history. Along with the church you'll find the Bones chapel, the a museum with arts and old pieces, and the church itself that's impressive with it's statues and a big altar made in bronze (i believe) that will surely make you say WOW. Even for someone like me that doesnt have a religion or even consider myself christian, it was a very pleasant experience as I felt myself in front of history. Totally recommended... the attendants were very nice and friendly to me, and it just cost 6 eur. If you're in Évora, you can't miss it at all.

You can get lost in your thoughts about time gone by. Water is life, and this structure delivered it for years.. Where it starts to disappear up the hill (left going out of town) Is Alto de São Bento. It's worth the climb, nice view of city, aqueduct and the countryside. There are even a few downhill tracks to play on your bike!

This is a hugely impressive structure but very difficult to appreciate properly. The part going through the town has workshops and houses built between the arches and then it crosses a decidedly dodgy car park before then being bisected by four lanes of traffic. After that it disappears into the fields beyond. There was no info we saw about it and I wouldn't fancy walking around the area at night, although I confess I am paranoid! The structure is medieval but incorporated the original Roman structure. The second level is now missing although there are traces of it on some columns. It's a shame there isn't at least a viewing area to make the most of this historical tourist attraction.

This is some amazing structure to have survived so long and still shapes the town's architecture.

Highly recommended! I didn’t know there were still aqueducts around, so this was a pleasant surprise. Absolutely beautiful seeing it in person, it’s definitely worth the visit!

Unfortunately not marked in any form the way we accessed it. Interesting use of the structure as the main frame for minimal housing. An access point to view the top / length of the aqueduct and printed info on site would make it a great attraction.

You see the Aqueduto da Agua de Prata when entering the city and also when you visit the old city. It is over 11 miles long.

Lovely city, with some fantastic Roman pieces - very quiet considering its importance but try at just made it better.

One of the best meals I’ve had in life. The service was impeccable (thank you Louis), excellent wine, very affordable entrees, delicious appetizers. If only we could eat sad every night!

Some of the best food I've ever had. My group was greeted with a spread of appetizers. The entrees were top tier, and the service was great.

We came here looking for a place to have some dinner before everything got closed. The food was super tasty, fish dishes are amazing. Also the mushrooms, simple raw food but very well executed. Tasty. Service was great. You have to taste the rice! We didn’t have enough room for dessert… but if we ever come by to Evora, this is a great place to eat!

We were recommended this restaurant by our Portuguese friends and it was an all around great experience. Very high quality and local cooking. Best garlic shrimps I’ve ever had (and my husband loves this dish so we’ve pretty much ordered it each time we see it).

We reserved a table for two, a day beforehand, and once we got there, at 12h30pm, the table assigned to us was in a passageway, with the entrance air current on our back, and next to the service counter. We did ask the waiter for a better table, but the one who received us wasn’t very nice. However, it was holiday season, so we understand if the place was full, given that Fialho is one of the best restaurants in Evora. Once we started ordering some of the house specialties, namely, the cheese, pastéis de massa tenra and the arroz de garupa, the second waiter who waited us, was very kind and attentive. The food was all absolutely delicious and the price was quite fair, given the high gastronomic quality, and also the table cutlery and table cloths, which were all impeccable. If we had been assigned a better table, and had been received in a more hospitable way, I would have definitely rated this restaurant with five stars.

One of the best bacalhau (codfish) in the world. Make your reservation in advance. Staff is very gentle, the restaurant is beautiful, but very small. Thus, make your reservation and enjoy the best bacalhau and delicious wines.

Amazing place. Note, this is almost the only restaurant in the area that can seat more than 4 people without reservations at lunch, although reservations for dinner are still recommended. The food was delicious. Pork cheeks amazing, mutton as well, all the fishes dishes we tried were great. All the desserts were to die for, not overly sweet but very delicious. They begin the meal with an amazing set of appetizers on your table, and you then pick what you want to keep and return. The service was great, very helpful and quick. Overall would definitely recommend!

Absolutely amazing lunch. Best meal we had in Portugal. The concept is that there is no menu, the chef just keeps bringing food to the table. There were two rounds of starters, another course, then two mains brought to the table together. Followed by a dessert plate. We paid €70 including two small beers and one espresso. We left totally satisfied. All of the food was delicious and the service was great. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Having been told the night before, by the owner and chef, that we needed a hearty appetite to dine there, we had breakfast and skipped lunch, and went to Taberna at 7:30 pm. What an experience! Besides tasting about fifteen or so iconic regional dishes (across appetizers, main courses and desserts - and by the way, you don't get to choose, it's the chef that chooses), we had the pleasure to speak with the owner and chef multiple times. He does not aim to merely serve food, but also give a virtual journey through his beloved region. Heartily recommended, but make sure to arrive extra hungry (skip lunch that day! 😁). You can't dine without reservations, don't even think about it! One of the best culinary experiences I've had in my lifetime.

The most amazing meal we've had, ever! The most friendly and fast service. Reserve or come as soon as they open. Not for the fussy eater. Definitely a place for the more adventurous, who don't mind not knowing what will be served. You sit down and they place food on your table, no menu to choose from. Best experience ever. First of all I’m so happy that we found a place like this one, the attention was perfect, you can feel when is a place own by happy people that like what they are doing. The owner have the patience to go to each table and explain the dishes, always with a smile and doing jokes. I recommend to go without eating that much during the day because the quantities are a lot, but the taste and experience are something to come back for. You have to reserve with some anticipation, to resume the place, a small but really cozy restaurant where you feel welcome. Totally recommend!

I had read the hype about this place and was afraid they wouldn’t live up to it. My fears were quickly abated! Every dish was unique, fresh, and delicious. The wine pairing was perfect. And the service was exceptional! I would recommend to anyone who loves food and wine.

We ate traditional Alentejo food at this place, on our first evening at Evora. The owner and the lady who served us were super friendly and kind. One has to go very hungry to this restaurant as they serve a lot of dishes and the portions are huge. There is no menu and you get to eat the specials of the day. Unfortunately, on the day we went there were only meat dishes. So, for vegetarians and vegans, this is not the best option. But if you want to eat great traditional food and get surprised then this is the place to go. We had some very good wine that is bottled specifically for the restaurant. The Alcohol percentage is quite high (around 16%) but it has such good balance that it went down smoothly.

A must visit if you in Portugal! Traveled from Lisbon to Evora only to visit this family restaurant! No regrets and amazed w the delicious food and home-family ambient!

Ricardo the waiter looked after me splendidly. It’s a lovely spot, charming inside and tremendous food and wine. I enjoyed the appetizers on the table and then the wild boar and chestnuts. The portions are generous! A beautiful half bottle of red went down well. A tremendous place indeed. Book and go!

Amazing traditional restaurant with real authentic Portuguese food with regional dishes you will only find in Évora (migas de tomate is a good example). We had wild boar which is considered a delicacy, you should try it, you will not regret. Service was amazing has well, specially the waiter and the restaurant owner. The chef is actually his wife. If you are looking for true home made food, don't look any further. Excellent.

Great restaurant with good food. Small, intimate, very hospitable. The melted cheese appetizer was delicious. The lamb chops with mint were also great. But the veal steak cooked on hot stone was a show stopper. Ricardo really makes you feel at home but be sure to make a reservation or he’ll turn you away as quick as you open the door🥹

The javali com castanhas was fabulous! If you are looking for great tasting very authentic Portuguese fare, look no further! Definitely try the desert sampler for 2.

Family spot, true to their food, and home cooked traditional (delicious!) dishes. We tried a few plates but what stood out was cod with onions and potatoes, their home made sweet peppers, and (believe it not) veal stale cubes for kids portions were great! Small place, so make reservations. Go for fish and meat dishes, that is my recommendation. Try their fresh farmers cheese, skip olives.

Absolutely perfect Portuguese dinner designed by a true chef. After reluctantly deciding to get the appetizer board, I’m so glad we did. Was the perfect pairing for the slow cooked pork with caramelized orange. 100% recommend. Every part of the meal was perfect.

It is one of those hidden gems that you may encounter in your life. The atmosphere is super cozy. Even though there are options for fish, I would definitely recommend black pork. Service is very good. Strongly recommended.

If you find you yourself visiting the Chapel of Bones, walk a couple of hundred feet down the road to Tabua do Naldo. The Black Pork and the Migas were masterpieces of mouthwatering bliss. Chef Naldo and his staff were entertaining and made our visit a joyous one. I do not often write reviews, but when you have experiences like this, you must share.

Good food and really friendly staff, but the owner made us feel a bit uncomfortable. He made our waiter (a really friendly young man) leave the bottle of wine at our table, even though we (including the waiter) specifically told him we only wanted two glasses, not the rest of the bottle as well. When we asked for the bill, our waiter told us to check it and see if it was correct, and indeed, we were charged for 3 glasses of wine instead of 2. The waiter corrected the bill and it was all fine, but overall, our experience was not so good. Nevertheless, we have to admit that the food was really good!

Great place, the food was amazing, the waiter very friendly, helpful, explained everything (thank you Carlos!). The chef was outside among the customers, not only making sure everyone had a great meal but also a great „moment“ (thank you Naldo!)

Carlos, our server, was an absolute legend. He was great with our two year old and helped us with some amazing choices. Don't miss the crispy cheese or the pork cheeks. All said and done my wife, myself, and our son are three appetizers and an entree and it was perfect.

We are a few weeks past visiting here and my kids are still talking about the food and experience at this restaurant. Of all the places we ate in Portugal, this was probably the best meal! We had the mushroom and sausage appetizer, pork cheeks with a salad and crispy potato chips (homemade), fish, and rabbit. Then we had Vasco’s famous chocolate mousse and his special seasonal dessert. I’m not lying when I say that everything was phenomenal. Vasco made the meal so memorable and enjoyable - he should be considered an ambassador of Portugal because of his great personality and friendliness! We didn’t have reservations but I highly recommend you get them if you can - we lucked out and walked in at the right time (our party of 5 couldn’t sit together but that didn’t bother us at all). Don’t plan on rushing in and out for a meal - you have to sit and enjoy the process (much like most meals in Portugal) as our lunch took 2 hours, but it was one of the best memories of our trip. Highly recommend!!

We stumbled upon a small restaurant with authentic alentejan cuisine. Delicious filé mignon and pork cheeks, nice house wine and of course the dessert!! Restaurant’s 3rd generation owner and our server, Vasco made sure we had a great time. If you are ever in Evora, you will not regret visiting.

Tasty meal. The pigs cheeks were excellent and a 1/2 portion was enough for one person, but we wished we hadn't ordered a full portion of the rabbit as it was bony and a bit dry. Maybe we should have tried the milk veal instead. Service was excellent, with an extremely gregarious host.
