You need to book the tickets early as they can sell out fast. I bought my ticket from the city bus tours which guarantees you access to the castle. Great place to visit to know more about the history in Edinburgh. The audio guide was an additional 3.50£. It is good to have it as you will be able to hear the stories and history for different parts of the castle. The view was great as you can overlook the city towards the new town.

It was far beyond my expectations. The Castle and its history is a really breathtaking experience. Have to walk a lot inside the castle to explore all the hidden treasures. Importantly the 👑 Crown. Got spectacular views of the city from the top of the Castle. Totally an awesome historical must visit place.

Phenomenal castle with truly spectacular views. Most castle areas are accessible and there are many interesting artifacts and items of historical significance. It will take you a good 2-3 hrs to finish exploring the castle. A must visit is the national Scottish war museum.

Great place. Some hints for your visit. 1. Prepay ticket and arrive 10 minutes prior to time on ticket. 2. Buy tickets before 1pm or 1300 so you can view the 1pm cannon firing. Make sure to find a spot to view the firingat least by 1245. Most. Good spots will be taken by then 3.There are several museums/areas on the castle grounds. A few of them are the Prison, National war museum and Royal Scots Dragoon. I found them to be nice and worth the time to spend exploring. 4. Bathrooms are available and first one as you enter on the left hand side. 5. The Scottish jewels was the longest wait of all places. 6. The have audio tours you can purchase to the right of the entrance if that is something you are interested in. 7. I would give myself at least 2 hours for museums and touring the castle. 8. Highly recommended

I loved every second of this place, due to our flight we booked the last ticket of the day and we didn't get to see everything we wanted to see so I suggest booking an earlier ticket of the day, I know at 1 o'clock they fire guns which would be cool to see. Also there was a lot of people being turned away because they sell out of tickets so be sure to book them in advance. The Scotland crown jewels were impressive and the war memorials were moving.

This was truly magical! My wife and I visited on a beautiful September day. We spent at least three hours there and could have spent the entire day! It's the most spectacularly and meticulously maintained castle site we have ever seen. This is a MUST SEE. And, stick around for the 1pm cannon shot!

I arrived on a Sunday morning with a 930 entry. They were a lot of people in line, but everything went quickly. While there were a lot of people in the castle, it did not seem crowded. If you love history, castles, architecture, or views from a top, this is a must see. You could spend all day inside the castle if you want to do view everything. There are several museums inside as well.

Amazing place. It has lots of open areas and you visit the “rooms”, cathedral and others. It is like a little old town with lots of history. Very different to other traditional castles in the UK. I absolutely loved it. The view is stunning. It is worth a visit and even better if clear sky.

Awesome place to visit. You need a good solid 2-3 hours to walk around and enjoy the place and see everything. Great cafe as well and if you want high tea book in advance. We made the mistake of not booking and there were no places left on the day for a walk in.

Went to watch The Who what a fantastic venue. From our seats we had a perfect view even if people got up and danced. The sound was amazing. Stairs got very slippy due to the rain but if you took the hand rails it was fine. 5 star venue.

Great place to visit and spend a few hours walking about and visiting all the historic buildings, whisky tasting classes and other Scottish doings in and around the area. The castle is also even more impressive in real life than the images. A must see 👀

Incredible part of the old city. Edinburgh castle itself would take almost the whole day to visit. The Scottish whiskey experience is not to be missed. The tartan weaving mill is excellent and loved the bagpipes being played on the road. I would love to visit again.

Lots of people, looking at lots of history. There is a Harry Potter gift shop and museum and other HP related sites that were used by JK, for her books. Be mindful of the weather and the cobblestone streets.

Amazing walk, worth the uphill trudge through some pretty historic areas of Edinburgh. Amazing places to eat along the way and lots of cultural activities to get involved in. Really enjoyed the numerous hidden squares along the walk with great local pubs in each.

Royal Mile is definitely a must do while in Edinburgh. It’s crowded as most tourist attractions so try early a.m. if you’re an introvert. A nice walk to feel the history of a nation and what’s left of it in those roads, buildings and, ruins

Being Scottish I suppose we don’t appreciate how lucky we are that we can visit one of the worlds best streets within an hour or two of leaving our homes, from the gates of the Castle the thoroughfare stretches for 1 old Scottish mile to the palace of Holyrood which is the Queens official residence when in Edinburgh passing wonderful old buildings and closes full of history , bars , cafes and restaurants of all types crowd the street as well as lots of small unique shops that sell all types of stuff a visitor might want. A very enjoyable couple of hours can be had wandering down the Royal Mile.

Fascinating artitecht and quite amazing old city vibe. This is must visit place if you are on tour to Edinburgh, generally very crowded but really good place to have a real feel of the city. Quite a few great picture spots here and good street side food on offering. Can easily spent few hours here roaming around.

The royal mile is a must see place if you are in Edinburgh. The vibe was awesome. If you go a little early you can click photos when its not over crowded, but the mile is beautiful only when there are lots of people around you, that gives you a different buzz

A place full of history, shops, character and people! It is always busy during the holidays yet it is an awesome place to visit. A must do in Edinburgh!

One of the most important streets when you are in Edinburgh. It has major attractions like the Edinburgh castle, Scotch whiskey experience, st. Giles cathedral. There are plenty of souvenir shops which are unnecessarily experience. But as you move farther from the castle, the process becomes reasonable. Enjoy walking and indulging in the performances of various artists on the street.

Historic area with lots of hills and history. There are lots of tourist shops on the Mile, so you can find something for everyone on your list. It can get quite crowded, so keep an eye on your wallet. It's worth checking out. Just remember when you're walking, what goes down must come up.

Beautifully kept ship. It was interesting to see the accommodations the royal family lived in while traveling. I loved the decor and history behind all the ships that have been used by the royal family. Nice history piece. The restaurant was wonderful as well. Great selection of food and drink.

We’d highly recommend this attraction. Friendly and helpful staff throughout the tour and tea rooms. Informative audio guide and wonderfully staged rooms to give you an idea as to what the ship looked like during its service. Don’t assume that the tea room prices are expensive…we were a bit hesitant to go in but we were pleasantly surprised. Very reasonable, very good service and lovely food.

This is definitely my top Edinburgh attraction! We spent more than 2 hours there because... we just couldn't miss the royal afternoon tea with scones! ☕️🍰 It was just delightful! We learned so much about the Royal Family and their modern life on this yacht! Loved the decor and attention to every detail. The engine room was just magnificent! If you haven't got time to do the whole Royal Edinburgh Tour, visit the yacht - it's so worth it! 🛳

This a essential place to visit if you are in Edinburg. This is the last Royal Yacht and they will be no more coming. It was decommissioned but all the parts seems to be in place as it was still operational. You will surely amaze with the contrasts of the luxury of the dining room and the humble queen bedroom. The engine room is also a beautiful mix of art and legacy technology. The audio guide is gives many insights of the ship. If you hear all details the tour will take about 2 hours. This was my second visit as I was with friends.

Not a lot to add of but I was impressed by the history of this yacht. This boat which travel around the world with the most important people of the world sometimes (no, I’m not speaking of the royal family). The place it’s beautiful and offer you a full view of the different department of the yacht.

We visited Britannia when the weather was very rainy and we could not stay outside for a long time. It was the best decision to make. Everybody was so kind and helpful during our visit and the Yacht is amazing. Every part of it is in an amazing shape. It was so nice to see how the royal family organized their daily life on the yacht. Audio guide was very helpful!

Very enjoyable afternoon exploring the Royal Yacht. Spent over 2 1/2 hours on board and enjoyed a delicious lunch and wine in the tea rooms. Well worth a visit. Staff were very friendly and warm to visitors. We actually walked from city centre to Ocean Terminal. Took about 50 minutes. Great food options in the adjoining shopping centre. £18 per person.

We had an amazing visit on board, it’s well thought out and the commentary was so informative. We also had a scone and drink in the tea room, a bit pricey, but great. It was very busy as Easter weekend, but we were lucky to get seated. Entrance and exit to the tea room needs better signage the amount of people going the wrong way and being told to use the other door was in the majority. A simple exit sign pointing to the right as you come into the tea room would likely solve this.

Took the family (9 & 8 year old boys). They loved it, loads to see across the ship. The audio guides were brilliant, I highly recommend grabbing one. The do different versions for kids and adults.

Gorgeous hike, relatively easy - around 30-1hr walk, starts with a slow ascent and then increases in steepness for the last 100m to the top. Many trails and easy access from the city - hiking gear not necessary. Great place to catch a sunset.

An absolute 'must' if you're staying in Edinburgh for a few days. The views are spectacular and the uphill walk is not too difficult with good walking shoes or trainers. It can get a lot cooler up there in summer. Take supplies up there - water, snacks etc.....and take your litter/garbage home with you. Best done on a sunny/bright day if you want some good Instagram shots.

Great place to go sightseeing and breaking in your boots, I went around mountain and up then back down which all had great sights, sadly it was rainy so I do not have good pictures

A nice hike up the peak, with stunning views of all of Edinburgh. It does get quite busy at the top and the rocks and pathways are a bit slippery so be careful, but such a must see if you are in the city <3

We set off first thing in the morning from our apartment to Arthur’s Seat. It was actually quite a challenged hike up the final part but my goodness it was worth it. The views were incredible!! Here are some tips if you’re thinking about making the trek up… 1. Plan ahead: Make sure to check the weather forecast and wear appropriate clothing and footwear. It's a good idea to bring a rain jacket and sturdy hiking shoes, even if the forecast is good. We actually seen someone wearing slides making there way up 🤣 2. Start early: Arthur's Seat can get quite busy during peak hours, so try to begin your hike early in the morning to avoid the crowds. 3. Bring water and snacks: The hike can be strenuous, so make sure to stay hydrated and have some snacks to keep your energy levels up. 4. Take your time: Arthur's Seat is a challenging hike, so don't feel rushed to reach the summit. Take your time and enjoy the views along the way. 5. Be aware of the terrain: Arthur's Seat is a rocky and uneven hike, so be prepared for some steep inclines and rocky paths. Watch your step and take care when navigating the terrain. Have fun!

I was visiting Edinburgh from New York City. I do a fair amount of walking all over NYC. The grade of the hill had me huffing a little bit, but it was well worth it. When I made it up to the second highest point, it started raining and got windy. I almost didn't head up to the summit, but then I saw some folks who were clearly older than me heading up. I brought sneakers for this trip that were a little slippery on the wet rocks, but I made it all the way to the top without incident. It's so gorgeous and well worth the climb to the top of Arthur's Seat. Don't miss it.

What a view. Winds were very strong. The path varies from dirt to rock stairs to just rocks. To get to the top takes some effort and some nerves!

Really beautiful and well worth the hike for the views at the top. The routes are clear and easy to navigate you'll have no problem finding your way around. It can get quite windy at the top even with nice weather so make sure you take the right clothing and shoes with enough grip.

My second visit, spectacular view from the top, can get a bit windy but that is expected on any hill/mountain. There are few routes to climbing the Seat but choose carefully and wisely based on your experience.

Beautiful walk with outstanding views of Edinburgh and surrounding landscape on a clear day. Quite rocky at the summit so supportive shoes are recommended- we passed one person who had slipped and fallen. If you are going up in the winter allow plenty of time as the days will be short.

A Breathtaking hike on Arthur's Seat. Just next to the city centre and suitable for all level (I think). We had an amazing time hiking there yesterday. The weather was perfect, and the trail was well-maintained. The panoramic views from the summit were absolutely stunning. Highly recommend this hike for an unforgettable experience! Five stars!

Nice hike with a gradual incline up a stone path that divides into several alternative steeper paths near the top. You are rewarded with great views of Edinburgh and some strong breezes.

Just about worth seeing for the price, tour guide had great acting and was entertaining. Good level of restoration and preservation throughout albeit a bit commercialised in some aspects. Would give 5 stars but tickets are a little pricey at £19 each.

Story and history are great in this place. The guide Cal is very professional and entertaining who told the story vividly. You will never believe it is just right underneath the center of the city. Only drawback is that I think the ticket is a bit expensive and the whole tour has to follow the guide. But otherwise it is still worthwhile visiting if you are first time here in Edinburgh.

Went away for a girlie weekend and thought we would do a few tours, our guide Emma from Edinburgh was great, she was knew her history and answered everyone's questions with ease, the street was incredible, to be able to see what the low houses looked like and the conditions the people lived in was amazing. Really enjoyed this tour, well stocked gift shop and coffee shop at the end of the tour.

Our guide James L is good at explaining the history on each room with good sense of humour. It is nice to see the guide and team wear the clothes from the people of the past. I like how the tour include media of the person from the past to help to share their life story and hard time. It is interesting and sad to know about mary b scott life and also life of the people suffering. This tour may be scary to a young child in some of the room showing the one who suffer from the plaque. The guide offer the kid a place to hide from the scary scene. There is great effort to create the scene of the livelihood of the place As our tour is on Friday at 9.30am, there is fire drill alarm which disrupted the tour. Some of the tour to the room is skipped like the plaque doctor but john try to catch up by sharing the history without going to that room. It is interesting to see the street is standing and conserved as much as possible. I wish Mary king close tour will be longer about 1.5hr instead of 1hr covering the history of building and how the life is after. It would be great if the guide can highlight the parts that are the conserved element like through the glass house. As this is highly confidential place of the government place, note that no photography is allowed. Thanks James L for being our guide.

As someone who has been to The Real Mary King's Close multiple times, I can attest that it's a must-visit attraction that never fails to entertain. The experience is truly unique, as you are transported back in time to explore the city's hidden history. The tour guides are knowledgeable and engaging, weaving tales of the people who lived and worked in these narrow streets and houses hundreds of years ago. Each time I've visited, I've learned something new and fascinating about Edinburgh's past. If you're a local looking to show visitors around, this is a perfect choice. It's a great way to introduce them to the old Edinburgh and give them a glimpse of what life was like in the past.

A very cool experience to be able to learn more about the history of the area and walk through the labyrinth of closes that are "under" the city. Our guide, Ben, was incredible. He deserves 5-stars; however, the experience was rather expensive and cost much more than what I think it should be worth. It's also disappointing that one can't take pictures inside

Definitely recommend. I wanted to try Haggis and the mini Haggis they offer are a perfect introduction to it. They were delicious. The meat was good quality and the mashed potatoes were super good. I particularly liked the chili mash which I definitely recommend for spice lovers. Really nice staff. We didn’t need a reservation. Just walked in around 6pm and were seated within 5 minutes.

I brought my family from overseas here and they are so impressed with the food and service. I booked online and requested the best seats and they gave me by the window. I don’t know the staff’s name, the lady with the short pink hair and tattoo is so attentive, quick, and friendly! Great service, although when I went (Sunday dinner) they were very busy. They also lived up their name, the mashed potato was so smooth and tasty! Paired with flavourful gravy and well-rounded beef haggis, I’m so glad I came here. Keep up the good work👍🏻

We were trying Haggis for the first time and it was exceptional (both the beef one and the vegetarian one). Definitely try the cheese mash. It was fantastic, and all the dish came together with the amazing sauce. The broccoli was outstanding as well. The staff were very kind and energetic which was nice. Really recommend

Fantastic, you won't regret coming here! Absolutely delicious food with a great variety of choices. For a starter, we ordered the scotch egg which was very good. For mains, we both ordered the lamb shank and it did not disappoint. Beverley, our waitress, was super friendly. Food came out within a reasonable time, it was hot, tasted fresh and moreish. I highly recommend booking a table ahead of time as this place does get really busy!

Incredible food. Scotch egg was pricey for just 1 egg but quite unique. Highly recommend as a starter. Beef Haggis was the star for me. So good and the gravy was so rich but not overly fatty. Gammon and the lamb shank were also very good. Every dish came with mashed potato which was good. Great service. David was very friendly and attentive and went above and beyond to help us tourists. Highly recommend!

Perfect place ! Loved it. They have a brilliant menu with many options for both vegans and meat lovers. The best part on the menu is the wide variety of choices for non-alcoholic drinks, which is rare to find. They do the haggis perfectly and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Will be back for sure !

We tried lamb Haggis for main and Scotch eggs as the starter. You can choose from a selection of mash and I chose smoke bacon and it was wonderful. The place is quite nice and pretty large, so despite the fact that it is crowded, you would sit immediately. The Scotch Eggs was perfect and tasty and I'd recommend it, especially for egg lovers. For Haggis, the plate is well designed and feels special, but it wasn't the best Haggis I have tried in Edinburgh.

Delicious! The staff screwed up our order of haggis and forgot about it but they ameliorated the situation by taking it off our bill. Speedy service otherwise and the food is well worth it. The potato’s are not that creamy but they’re very tasty. Highly recommend the sausage, which was the best thing we had. First time trying haggis and it was great! The gravy was super tasty!

I was absolutely floored by this place. While wandering through Edinburgh we stumbled in. They do fantastic combinations of either meat or vegetarian based main dishes that are placed on top of a huge variety of different mashed potatoes. Our group tried several varieties and honestly all were delicious in their own regard. The mini haggis was admittedly a little tame entry into the dish for less seasoned diners but it was absolutely delicious even if not a traditional take on the dish. Beer selection was also solid. Finally the staff provided exceptional service and were so friendly! 5/5 stars for this place. I highly recommend checking it out

We dove right in with the full portion of haggis and discovered that we really like it. Best Scotch egg I've ever had: somehow they make it so it's not too heavy. Unfortunately they sold out of their homegrown lions mane mushroom, but the woodland mushroom was excellent. Get the sticky toffee pudding for dessert! Clarkie was a great host and very considerate of our 2 year old. We'll be back whenever we return to Edinburgh.

Can’t believe this place is fully booked and has a line outside at 3 pm. Overall the food is nice but it isn’t as impressive as expected from the reviews. Mash tastes good indeed, especially the cheddar one. The beef shoulder and lamb shank are thought tender, though the lamb can probably have more lamb aroma. Hope there were more green leaves in addition to the carrot slaw. Food came quite slow. To be honest, none of the components need to be or can be made to order as they are slow cooked. Service was a little tired. The young lady didn’t ask which mash we want and the size of the lager… and she has “no idea how long the food takes”.

Outstanding! From start to finish it was incredible. We went for the prestige tasting menu & matching wine flight. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, friendly & knowledgeable. One of the little things that impressed me was when I asked about a small element of the Spoots dish they knew every single ingredient & that really adds to the experience and demonstrates how well trained they are. I loved the whole feel of the place, the decor is minimalistic and classy. The little map showed where they source all their local ingredients which was very interesting and showed you just how fresh everything was. I honestly couldn’t fault any of the dishes, they were flawless. Each one was just as flavourful as the last. I liked that it was hearty rich flavours that were presented so delicately. My highlight of the wines was drinking one that was older than I am. Hats off to the whole team, hope to come back in the not so distant future. Keep up the good work!!

Great food, amazing steak tartare, mutton and beef mains were very well executed. As well as desserts. Service was slightly disappointing, the staff were rather indifferent, never tried to upsell wine, never offered dessert wine, tea or coffee. What was surprising is that the restaurant menu pages are wrapped up in plastic, doesn’t look nice or sustainable. Sommelier brought the wine poured in glasses without bringing the bottle which was surprising as well.

What an absolute treat this was. The Kitchin has been on our list for years, and I'm so happy to say that it did not disappoint! The food was wonderful, as expected, they were able to create an incredible tasting menu for 3 separate dietary requirements, and we all loved it. The wine pairings were innovative and interesting, AND they had a full list of non-alcoholic wines to my sober friend's delight. The hospitality, though, was where it all came through. The service was just immaculate, so friendly and considerate. Tom (the man himself) could clearly tell how excited we were to be there and invited us into the kitchen for a drink, which really was such a highlight of my culinary exploits. We loved every minute of our time here from when we were led to our table through the beautiful, rustic and moody decor, to them having a cab on speed dial for when it was time to leave. What a perfect evening

The first time I've visited this restaurant , had a fabulous time here. The staff are knowledgeable and deferential without being obsequious , and very helpful. The food is absolutely amazing . We dined A La Carte at lunchtime. I was privileged to have Tom Kitchin himself serve my starter and main . A charming , friendly man . This restaurant well deserves the 5 stars I awarded it . I will return . There's so many more dishes I'd like to try here.

Absolutely amazing meal with my family ! Lunch was very reasonably priced at around 50pp for their set lunch. Everything was prepared with a high standard. The set lunch included a starter, main and desert but we we're pleased to be served with fresh bread as well as 2 different appetisers. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Would come back again.

What a great visit, great welcome and service throughout was exemplary, especially from the maitre d. We were also lucky as Tom Kitchin was there on the day and came out to say hello and gave me a signed birthday card Onto the food, it was exceptional with great depth of taste and beautiful presentation. I loved the cod starter and my partner thought her beef main was great and her strawberry dessert was exceptional "the most incredibly sweet strawberries she had ever eaten". All in all, it was a fabulous visit, superb food, wonderful service and super relaxed atmosphere. We could not believe we were there for 2.5 hours and the time flew by. Oh and the final hurrah, a tiny birthday cake arrived and made the day complete. For that feeling of being special, please visit The Kitchin, Tom and his team will make you feel very relaxed and super special.

Unique experience at this venue. Everything was carefully crafted and combination of the flavors were great. Very cozy ambience and reminded me of some Nordic restaurants I like. the service was a bit slow side but I just had bad luck at this place at the time. I might try and see how it is next time.

Stunning food & service. Our starters were served by Tom Kitchin which was lovely. Staff went above and beyond, easily the best service we’ve ever had in a restaurant worldwide. All the food was faultless - would particularly recommend the oyster starter and cauliflower starter as particular highlights. We went for lunch at 1.15 and stayed several hours.

We had the Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu with wine pairing, and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Very nicely decorated restaurant, good atmosphere and very nice staff. It was so nice that Tom Kitchin came and greeted and talked to us and served us a dish. We had nice ginger cocktail before the meal, but unfortunately the Espresso Martini we had after the meal was not so good. But, all in all, this was a wonderful experience.

My wife and I just had the absolute best dinner of our lives here! Everything from the food to the service, cocktails, wine, and decor. The staff was extremely attentive as well as knowledgeable about every inch of what is served in the restaurant. We travelled here from Las Vegas mainly for this meal and we would do it again in a heartbeat. Thank you to the entire Kitchin team for an unforgettable experience.

8.5/10. Had their surprise tasting menu. Flawless service and great food, despite the creamy, rich sauces being a little bit too repetitive. Be prepared to get really full though. Wish I could give five stars but really a bit more variation of flavors will do them good.

What a delight !!! Superb service, attentive ,ever knowledgeable, polite and professional. The food was exquisite, we had the surprise tasting menu with wine pairings. Stand out dishes were John Dory , scallops and the duck … oh and the tomato consommé and the pork cheek and the soufflé …and finally a visit from Tom Kitchin to every table sets the pattern for an amazing unforgettable night experience.

The food here was good, we had their set dinner for 2 courses for 20 pounds, although we had to add an additional 2 and 7 pounds, for the catch of the day and lamb rump, respectively. Food were seasoned well - meat or fish were not overcooked or too dry, calamari was not oily, and we enjoyed the mackerel pate. Reasonably priced overall. We note that our server’s customer service was below average, however she was chatting it up and significantly more friendly with the table next to us.

Absolutely fantastic! Been there for lunch best option to take the 2 or 3 courses. Food was really tasty. Service was fantastic, Lisa our hostes was top notch! Beyond friendly, and always ahead of our needs, checking constantly if everything was alright. The rest of the staff also were very very friendly and happy! The overall was a fine dinning type of experience for a portion of the price! It was a highlight of my trip.

Excellent food, highly recommended. The beef stew was especially good, the beef was tender and just melted in your mouth! However the service was a bit patchy. Ended up having 3 different servers, and while we were approached several times in quick succession at the start to take our order, later we were basically ignored, so it took a while to order dessert, and get the bill. Bar staff were also slow with our drinks, and one drink we ordered never arrived (but wasn't charged, so we think the server forgot to pass the order on).

Placed in a great location, just near the entrance to Calton Hill, the restaurant is in a lovely building and is has a very impressive dining hall inside. The room must be 8-10m high, so provides a really great atmosphere. Note that there are a couple of tables in the lobby area, so you may want to double check you don't have one of those if you want the full experience. Menu was very interesting and gave a real challenge over what to choose - I guess I will have to come back some time. The specials are great too, which is not always the case. Everything we ordered was perfectly presented and very well prepared. Service was attentive, professional and very friendly. I really can't fault this venue, and we left the biggest tip of the holiday, so that pretty much sums it up.

We had more people than we had booked for in our party and were very quickly accommodated. Beautiful food. Not the hottest, but we were a large group. Very busy and, therefore, noisy, had to shout to be heard across the table. Perfect fast service, however, and very reasonably priced, taking the current climate into consideration. Would definitely go here again.

First time in Edinburgh... so many restaurants in the area. Walked by this place and decided to try it... and it was very good. Tried Haggis for the first time and it was delicious... also had the chowder and finished up the meal with a cheese plate.

Underwhelming experience if I’m honest. The food was okay, nothing special. My partner had the salmon and mentioned it wasn’t anything to stand out against other restaurants. The fries were fresh and well made, best part of the meal for some reason, every single table had a complementary bread starter irrespective of what they ordered and ours didn’t. Calamari was good but paired with sauce that just didn’t fit. As usual, what irritates me is when restaurants chuck in an assumed tip and whilst mentioning its discretionary on the bill don’t even ask if we would like to tip. Tips are earned for exemplary service and not matter of fact additions as a give in.Poor ethic and needs changing.

This is such a nice place. The ambiance is very nice, beautiful classic interior. The staff is very friendly with a great sense of humour. Do make reservations. Food is very very tasty, soup is wonderful, very nice local beer, reasonably prices 3 course lunch at 21£ but the most delicious was the sticky toffee pudding. Highly recommended.

Had an amazing dinner, delicious starters and a stunning main course. The staff couldn’t be more helpful either, even calling a taxi for us when we asked for a local cab number. Only shame is that we were only in Edinburgh on a trip otherwise we would be booking another table there soon!

This is a wonderful restaurant in Scotland. Perfect for couple or family. The environment of the restaurant is fantastic and romantic. Must order food - Venison Haunch is the best things I ever tried in Scotland 🥰 we are from Malaysia and I came with my 3siblings. All of them satisfied with the food✌️

Wonderful place for scottish and fresh dishes. We ordered the 3 course lunch meal and shared some foccacia bread. Starter was the classic Haggis and it was savory and delicious. We both had the pan seared salmon for main course and were not disappointed!

Fantastic lunch had here to close off my Fringe 2023 visit. Had a number of the recommended dishes (Cullen Skink, Shepherds Pie etc) and all were delicious. Great lunchtime 3 course deal meant that it was incredibly great value also. Highly recommended.

Great place to eat and have a drink. Highly recommend. Really friendly, it looks great inside and outside and there is more information about how the pub got it's name! The food was genuinely the best I've had in a long while. We had steak and ale pie with buttered mash potato and a cabbage wedge. It was so tasty and desert was great aswell. Seriously cannot praise it highly enough. John and Marcus were our servers and the service was absolutely fantastic. Food and drinks were also served quickly and it was very affordable. 100% would go again.

Visited on a Sunday evening after the castle tour. Was fully crowded, but we got lucky and snagged a table as someone was leaving. -2 Pints of Beer -Steak & Ale Pie with mashed potatoes & cabbage -Side of Mac & Cheese -Sticky Toffee Pudding with Custard Everything was delicious, and the Sticky Toffee Pudding stole the show! So delicious! Service was adequate, and prices were decent (though the pints were each £7 which was higher than we'd seen in Scotland).

A historic pub on the Royal Mile with a good range of locally brewed beers on menu. The Innis & Gunn lager we had was malty and slightly sweet, and I was rather surprised by the ale which was crisp and refreshing. Nice pub food. We had a Haggis & Potato Pie. Probably a typical Scottish dish which is actually another form of haggis neeps & tatties, with cheddar as topping, followed by layers of mashed potato, haggis and turnip cubes underneath, complimented with savoury whisky sauce. We love the haggis here, simply mild without any earthy or livery taste. Most of other customers ordered Fish & Chips during our meal, and we had mixed feeling about it. Impressively crispy and light batter, however the haddock tasted a bit bland – it was not really dry, something probably went wrong before it was fried. They are definitely capable to deliver better ones.

Excellent beer, burger, fries and Onion rings, was great. Fish and chips, is been the best so far, literally FISH, no fish finger or strip. Recommend this place. Graeme and James were great, they took care of us. Great service and great food.

Know before you go: YOU NEED RESERVATIONS. With that being said, LOVED this place. Started out with a recommended Thistly Cross Traditional cider. Yum!! Light and crisp! Ordered Steak and Ale pie as well as Haggis Pie. Food was out in about 3 minutes and was piping hot! Flavorful and perfect portions. DEFINITELY recommend!

Reservations are a must, as we saw several people who had wandered in turned away. The fish and chips were very very good, and so was the steak and ale pie. My partner LOVED the sticky toffee pudding. I had the apple pie and it was not overly sweet and came out piping hot. The ambiance is cozy, with the lights dimmed in the small restaurant. It was a good meal in Edinburgh that wasn't overly expensive. We would definitely eat here again next time we visit the city.

Their equipment was faulty so no fish and chips but what we had was quite good, especially the sticky toffee pudding. Staff was great. Atmosphere is loud and close, busy pub.

On a business trip, we were strolling through Edinburgh in the evening to look for a good pub with local beers. We ended up in the World’s End which was a good choice. It’s a good mix with locals and tourists. The beer is very good. No barrier free access.

Every time we visit Edinburgh we visit The World's End, several times. It's our favourite pub in Edinburgh. The food is great and the beer is excellent, especially the World's End bitter. The hosts are always welcoming, friendly and accomodating, they can't do enough for you. This time Lauren and Blair looked after us brilliantly. Over the years we've come away with t shirts, fridge magnets and glasses. We will be back. Thank you.

Service here was lovely. While I was up in Scotland I wanted to try my first Whiskey. The guy on the bar was only too happy to walk me through all the differences in notes and allow me to smell all the corks. Settled on one from Edinburgh as it felt right being in the place. There are places to sit inside and out and they also seem to have a very good smelling menu. Can't complain one bit.

Called ahead to book a table for a larger group. This is probably a must as the restaurant has limited seating so if you're coming at a busy time please do book ahead. The staff were nice throughout the visit not outstanding but pleasant enough. Yes the price is a little steep however that is totally understandable when you try their food. The food was exceptional and made me completely forget about the cost! 100% will be recommending to those that like steak and seafood

1st off let's start with the absolute best part of the meal. Her name was Madison and her service was extraordinary. The Goat Cheese appetizer and the Haggis were absolutely amazing. The Tomato Basil Soup had the perfect texture and a wonderfully robust tomato flavor. However if I hadn't seen the Basil in the Soup I would have never known it existed. Trust this American Chef and sweat that Basil in a little olive oil and add it to the soup as you simmer the tomatoes and it will then be a homerun! The cold smoke salmon was very disappointing. My guess is it was farm raised salmon as for this Washington State native, it left a lot to be desired. The Mussels and Prawn dinner would have been amazing had the kitchen taken the time to peel the shrimp first. Nobody can ever consider that a great meal when their fingers become messy when eating shrimp. Finally the Ribeye Steaks. We ordered 2 of then. They were cooked perfectly as we ordered. Yet this was the most bland Angus Ribeye I've ever had. Very little marbling at all and that is why we order a Ribeye is that marbling along with the 21 days hanging the restaurant boast about is not enough when you are afraid to use any salt or seasoning. A good chef could turn this restaurant into the best dinner house in Scotland with a little imagination because the front of the house staff is spot on and amazing. Step it up BOH you have work to do.

The first time we tried haggis and we were positively surprized. It was realy delicious. This is a very good restaurant. Each course we eat was delicious. The service was also very friendly. It is a small and cozy restaurant. I warmly recommend the wildfire restaurant for people who love to eat.

The hostess/waitress was absolutely lovely, she made us feels so welcome. It is a small intimate restaurant with great ambiance. Let's get to the food, perfect, delicious tasty fresh and everything is locally sauced or from Scotland. If in Edinburgh go to Rose Street and visit Wildfire, you will not be disappointed. 😋😋😋

The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. The steaks were good, but I had hoped for more, as my steak wasn't seasoned and the home made chips were not crispy.

A cozy and lovely restaurant. The small space makes you warm, especially on a winter night. I had a Scottish smoked salmon with prawns and was splendid. I was lucky to find a table available.

Giving this little restaurant a 5-star review. My husband and I were indecisive about where to go for dinner on our last day in Edinburgh but we finally settled on this choice. This restaurant turned out to be incredibly well suited for our personalities and taste. It has a small and cozy vibe, the lights are dimmed, very romantic and relaxing. No loud music, just lots of chatter from guests filling the air, easy to have conversations at your table. Well worth the price. We ordered the large 10oz ribeye steak to share, with a side of garlic green beans, a basket of garlic cheese bread, and a salad. We paired it with wine. I was so impressed I went ahead and ordered the sticky toffee pudding with some tea to share with my husband, well, he inhaled it. It was scrumptious. This may have been our best meal in Edinburgh. The staff was so kind and helpful. We came in during a dinner rush without a reservation and they made a table for our party of 5. The steaks were fantastic. You have to get the Sticky Toffee!The restaurant is warm and cozy.

The place is a bit small, so it is recommended to make a reservation upfront. We tasted the haggis and the chicken liver as starters. Both were clearly freshly made in the kitchen and tasteful. As main courses we decided to order a sirloin and a ribeye, both medium. They were a bit well done, which was a small disappointment. However the meat was tasty and nicely grilled. It is recommended to take a side dish with the steak as it is only served with salad. The ladies serving the tables were nice a very friendly. Sitting outside was a little uncomfortable with a hobo begging for money twice and a gypsy woman trying to sell single roses. Overall the food and service were worth it.

Booked a table for two and was delightfully surprised by the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was great, we had the lunch special with angus steak, very happy! Now, the top was indeed the sticky toffee pudding with caramel sauce and vanilla ice cream - I’m certainly returning for that!!!
