This is a must visit if you like sight seeing. This is known as the black temple. It is very unique and so much history to these temples. You will not be disappointed visiting this temple. Approximately 2-3 hours away from Chang Mai but you can book day tours with local. Well worth the visit here. Very warm here.

Found this interesting if a little strange, not like any other museum I have been to. It was a very hot, humid day too when we went so I wasn't really feeling it. I would say it's worth going to see, though . 90 TBH each fee .

Pretty unique artworks. Got a spooky feeling in some spots seeing the remains of dead animals. But overall I had a unique experience about artwork. Some artwork had a QR code against it which has a instagram filter which has creates some animation. Entrance fee of 80 baht.

I loved this museum, and walking aimless in the park around, we went at the end of the day and it was really peaceful, an uncommon but yet pleasant feeling of letting your imagination wandering freely. My teenagers boys found it a bit repetitive though, I quite agree as there is many identical pieces (a lot of animals skins) but the atmosphere is unique and well worth the visit. If, like me, you were a big fan of the universe of the video game Myst you will certainly experience something with this place too.

The arts and crafts are wonderfully mysterious. The temple is amazing. Too bad, the staff isn't friendly at all. We paid for the entrance but didn't show any value of hospitality there.

The Baan Dam Museum is one of the most interesting spaces of Chiang Rai. It is located in a big field and there around 40 different buildings insight, not all of them are open to the public but you can see a lot. I liked the fact that it is kind of interactive, in the main building you have QR codes that you can scan and it makes the paintings come to live. Also the design of the wooden furniture and the different shapes of the building are some of the most interesting parts of the museum. I have only put four stars instead of five because I didn’t like seeing the living animals being in a very limited space. There were two big bulls and cats in a cage. There are also many skins, hair and bones of dead animals. As visitors we are not informed regarding how were these animals treated.

Such a wild experience. If you're sensitive to phallic displays or don't want to expose your kids to tons of wooden phalluses I don't recommend this place. However if you're fine with them. Then it's a really fun place to wander around and enjoy all the different buildings and exhibitions. The art in the big house is really cool and using your phone you can make it come to life. Entrance fee is 80 baht. Definitely worth a visit!

This is another must if you are in Chiang Rai region, you can very seldom see such high quality sculpting, art, and creativity in the same place. There is a very low entrance fee 80 baht per person. There are shops around with food, juices, coffee and fruits. Big parking easily accessible with scooter. Very big like from my side :)

Quite an interesting museum. Not too large. The art is interesting and there's lots of phallic stuff, so yeah, heads up. I would've like it to have a bit more stuff. The place is nice and it's a good visit it just felt like it could've had more. Maybe having a more structured experience might also help because it wasn't very clear where to go or in what order and at some point I just found myself wondering what to do next.

The Viking-themed Baan Dam Museum offers a distinctive experience that's quite different from your average museum visit. However, its uniqueness can also lead to confusion, as I sometimes struggled to comprehend what I was looking at. Unlike my experiences at other museums, I felt the need for some guidance or descriptive information to better navigate and appreciate the exhibits

Not bad as a museum. A lot of exotic animal skin in the exhibit and gory paintings at times. It's dark in nature, hence the name black museum.

It will not help but be surprised to see the bright yellow twisted clock tower at the intersection of Phaholyothin and Banpaprakan roads. Built in 2008, Clock Tower honors King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, the clock tower is the idiosyncrasy of Chalermchai Kositpipat, the artist who built the famous White temple.

Wait till late afternoon.. Sun from the west will pop the golden clock tower against the shop windows in a way that makes your eyes water. Use the middle island on the western side for a selfie.. the clock tower itself is sort of a traffic circle with no real place to stand, cling too, or even hover.. and even on a Saturday afternoon at 5pm cars were still flying by.. (pick your battles and your time and be safe..) Enough said.. its a easy visit landmark for spectacular photos in the chaos of traffic in the not-so-city-center of Chiang Rai.

An iconic monument in Chiang Rai. A golden, ornate clock tower in the middle of a major intersection in the city centre. Most people come to see it at 7, 8 or 9 pm when it is lit by changing colour lights accompanied by music. In the past I would give this 5, but the current show is shorter and there are no moving parts, as in the past, hence only 4. I'm sure they will reinstate the full show sometime.

It’s pretty cool considering it’s a roundabout! But I’m not sure it’s worth all the fuss 😂 definitely go, because why not!

Gaudy and ornate. I like it! The experience isa bit diminished be the enormous blank billboards behind it and the roaring tailpipes of passing cars but the clock tower itself is pretty impressive.

The Chiang Rai clock tower looks very iconic. A golden clock tower right at the busy traffic. This was designed by one of Thailand's national artists in honor of Queen Sirikit in 2005. If you manage to be nearby at 19:00, 20:00, or 21:00, you'll be able to witness its sound display. It's quite difficult to take a perfect shot -unfortunately- since this is right at an intersection where traffic is busy. In addition, nearby this beautiful clock tower is an old 'clock tower'.. I forgot what street it was but it's near the market place - a stone's throw from the golden clock tower - I included a not so perfect snap as well as I just saw it when I was passing by 😊

It is unfortunate that the bazaar is not as lively as it once was compared to previous reviews. We wandered upon the area on a Sunday night to find that less than 50% of the shops were operational. Wishing the best for the shops that were affected by the current situation.

The bazaar itself is mostly items you’ll see at any bazar, but the “food court” area us great! A lot of stands to choose from and you can get to taste different types of food in one place. Highly recommended

The seafood soup from the stall in my photo was thoroughly underwhelming for 80 baht. The cold beer made up for it to an extent, however.

I had a great time there. It’s kinda hidden and also relax place. Relaxing live music, ‘cheap food’ and also great atmosphere close to the center. Totally worth it from Tuesday until Thursday. Fried chicken and beef cashew rice are the best. The live shows are amazing if there is a group partying.

It was avery nice place to eat, shop and to chill. There's a cultural show on a stage to entertain viewers. Food stalls are everywhere, there's so much more you can choose. Souvenir shops are also very nice.

Small but cozy night street market with a food court and several live music performances even on Wed night. Lots of stalls are still closed.

I recently visited the Chiang Rai Saturday Night Blazer and was blown away by the incredible selection of food, music, and shopping options available. The number of different food vendors was truly impressive, offering everything from traditional Thai dishes to international cuisine. The live music was also fantastic and added to the lively and festive atmosphere of the market. But what really stood out to me were the clothing and accessory options. The market was full of vendors selling unique and beautiful items, from handcrafted jewelry to stylish clothing. I loved browsing the various stalls and ended up leaving with some great finds. Overall, I would highly recommend the Chiang Rai Saturday Night Blazer to anyone visiting the area. It's a wonderful place to experience the local culture and try some delicious food, while also shopping for some truly special and unique items

The overall night bazaar experience is alright, but the food court is a real disappointment because it's such a waste of money and stomach space though. We bought quite a few dishes that isn't added to this review and only 2-3 dishes that are good and the rest are horrible. Imagine this: when you put the foods in your mouth, you tasted of what the dish should tasted like, but after your second or third bite then the flavor is all disappear. Majority of the dishes are only get a few bites then we don't go back for more.

This is the most famous night market in Chiang Mai city. The items sold at Night Bazaar are mostly handicrafts and handmade goods of the Chiang Mai region in particular and the northern provinces of Thailand in general, such as silver carvings, traditional hand embroidery, carved wood. notch…. The goods here are quite rich, diverse and most importantly, cheap. However, a note for visitors when buying, remember to bargain the price. Specifically, you should pay the price down from 20 to 30%

Very peaceful temple just on the outskirts of the centre. Beautiful architecture as expected and the inside of the temple is so serene. The emerald Buddha is really quite a sight. Noticed they offered introduction to Buddhism classes on certain days where you can ask questions about the religion which I thought was a wonderful idea.

Beautiful gardens meets the eye as one walks through the gate. The temple of interest further back and busy with devotees offering prayers. The temple is small and unusually also lit up with a green light (behind mosaic tiles) adding to the aura of mystery and reverence. Wat Phra Kaew offers two temples.. shrines and a museum all on the same ground.. and if that's not enough.. let's add a moat and a Chedi. Worthy of an afternoon visit and if the museum was open I could have spent even more time there.

Recommend to visit here. Very serene and beautiful. Pra Kwea had ever been here before moved to Bangkok. The new one replace from the old one is also beautiful. There is a museum in the temple. Not big, should walk around to explore.

Small temple complex but loaded with interesting artifacts and history. A must visit for anyone visiting Chiang Rai. Friendly monks too. Actually they were the only monks we saw all morning and we went to three other temples.

Beginning of Emerald Buddha Legend, Royal Temple, Buddha Museum. Located in the center of Chiangrai. A state of art created the Main temple where the Emerald Buddha stayed, Show the history of The famous Emerald Buddha Legendary on the temple wall. A town from where you can start visit the local tea plantation. Better to have an accommodation in Chiang Rai and then to get there. I had the sunset and was very good. The road is fantastic and you will see great landscape.

Doi Mae Salong is another place that is worth visiting in Chiang Rai. There are many tea plantations planted on the mountain, beautiful, clean and green. feel happy and fresh when visit here. You can stop by to taste tea or drink coffee on the mountain. There are restaurants at the village can choose as you prefer.

Very nice restaurant. The local dishes are absolutely delicious and well seasoned. The cakes are super tasty too. The local is astonishing and personnel super nice and welcoming. Would definitely recommend if you want to try so nice and sophisticated Thai food (its not overpriced).

This place is quite an interesting find, it was recommended to me by a friend who lives locally. They serve a large amount of different types of food, I ordered a burger but should have gone for the Swedish meatballs, the burger was very tasty and the chicken wings also that I ordered as a side. The place has a colonial French vibe to it and is very secluded on the river, it's just across from The Legend Boutique Spa Hotel. If you are missing some European wines I would recommend this place although being a restaurant it is not cheap for a bottle. The only reason it got a four star rating was perhaps the unavailable seating which we pre booked, but it was apparently a bit wet after the rains on the balcony so we missed out on some good photo opportunities.

We had such a great experience here! We ordered quite a few dishes and they were all amazing. The service was great as well, and they were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions. All of the people who work here are so kind and friendly! We will definitely be back. Loved the tofu steak, mushroom fried rice, and spring rolls. We also loved the almond caramel matcha latte and butterfly pea tea. All the desserts look fabulous as well!

This is the most favourite restuarant for me in CR. Well arranged and decorated place. Good food, from northern food to Thai and Western food. High quality ingredient, well cooked. Another point worth mentioned is long list of booze to choose. I can spend whole night at the bar! All come with high price.

We were there yesterday for my 40 years old birthday, thanks to my wife. We were a small group of 5 people. The service and atmosphere were absolutely extraordinary. There are several rooms (a lively bar, tables facing the river in a quieter area, and a tea room inside). We had a large table by the river perfectly decorated for my birthday. The main building is a beautiful colonial mansion, decorated with various objects and photos from the period. The service is exceptional. In the warm and extremely nice style of the inhabitants of North West Thailand. The cuisine is of the highest quality and offers a variety of local and international specialities, French and Australian wines and a wide choice of cocktails and spirits. We had tea inside in the small lounge with its beautiful fireplace. All the staff kindly came to celebrate my birthday. An absolutely perfect evening. I regret not tipping enough at the end as I ran out of change. I intend to return during the week to rectify this as they are also open for coffee and afternoon tea and offer plenty of pastries.

I would rate this place a 4.5. Food varied on what you ordered. Great selection of drinks, especially the excellent craft beers. Setting is very beautiful for lunch but especially in the evening. We got a table by the river in the evening which I recommend. Staff helpful and friendly.

Nice atmosphere, decor and service. Excellent tasting food, however the Kaosoi (Northern noodles) did not taste well and the spaghetti was a bit on the sweet side. Apart from that the other dishes were very good especially the desserts. Would have given 5 stars if not for the two dishes mentioned.

Have eaten here twice, both excellent. Had pork knuckle for 680 baht. It's huge. Could easily feed two or even three adults. Have previously had pineapple fried rice (excellent) and bibimbap (excellent). Not cheap but great.

Truly amazing - came here as a special occasion for the final evening of our friend's holiday in Thailand. The food was well priced and delicious, the waitresses were attentive, friendly and helpful! We sat on the balcony next to the billiards room which had a great view of the river and was a great place to chill and play pool once we had finished our meal. If you want a great evening then come here!

It's a hidden gem; if you visit the Blue Temple you have this cafeteria within walking distance, 5-6 minutes. They have many options from burgers, salads, or dessert and coffee. The environment was nice and the dessert was delicious. A very good place to enjoy after the Blue Temple visit.

Loved it here. The reviews are spot on. Great food, service, location and atmosphere. The food is a little spicy for non spicy people but that's all part of it. The owner explains everything beautifully. You can tell she is really passionate about food and tells you how to put everything together for the perfect bite for each meal. Her English is perfect! It's an amazing place. The service was just perfect, as it was also the food. The waitress was very, very nice and friendly. She explained to us the whole menu with a smile in the face, and she also speaks English very well. She recommended to us the best options for people who don't like spicy plates. The food was really good. We ordered a Pad Thai and a Chicken with cashew nuts. Bot of them were just perfect. It has been the best Pad Thai (with extra peanut sauce) that I have tasted in Thailand.

This is my favorite restaurant in the city. It was so good, it warranted a return visit. I wouldn't say any of the dishes are purely "traditional" but they are all very, very good. The waitress does a fantastic job explaining the menu and the culinary influences alongside the differences compared to standard Central Thailand food. That said, I highly recommend the Hung Lay curry.

Highly recommend!!!! I swear I had the best Thai food I have ever tried! It’s delicious!!!! I’m literally shocked how it’s tasty. Staff speak English and ready to help you with order. And one more thing: they are really good at spices, so you will try a lot of different vegetables and herbs, because everything what they put in your plate can be eaten. Don't miss out on this one. The food in this little restaurant was amazing. Super fresh and full of flavour. They spoke perfect English and they gave really good suggestions. The sampling portions are quite good for European standards. We took 2 sample portions and one normal, we couldn't eat it all. We enjoyed it a lot

We were greeted by the lady boss of the restaurant that attended to us & was very warm & welcoming! She explained the menu in fluent english too. We got : 1. Super Pad Thai (Prawn) - noodles had a nice chew, peanut sauce was amazing. Really lovely taste. 2. Northern style tom yum soup (prawn) - too much coconut for my liking. Owner mentioned that northern style tom yum soup is like that, so nothing much to do about it. Would have preferred a spicier version. 3. Mixed Lanna Entree. Many side dishes combined into 1 big plate. The chicken wings were my favourite. A pleasant blend of warm spices that made the wings very addictive. The tea leaf salad was also interesting. Northern style sausages weren't my thing, as the skin was too thick & chewy. 4. Barrab special (small size). Spicy minced meat with tea leaf. Not bad. 5. Passionfruit juice was super thick & fresh! We paid a total of 845 baht. Portions were ok but we ordered too much for 2 people. Very value for money with great taste & the air-conditioning was a refreshing break from the heat of the summer!

This place has got an awesome variety of traditional northern dishes (items 1-13 on menu) and they've got plenty of veggie options too! The flavors are absolutely delicious, and the staff is super chill and patient when it comes to explaining all the different choices. Plus, the whole vibe of the joint is just so cozy and inviting. Can't recommend it enough!

Excellent restaurant in Chiang Rai featuring a wide variety of Northern Thai dishes. Fresh and diverse flavors in a small, comfortable setting. We spent five nights in Chiang Rai and this was the best meal we had. Very personable service. Highly recommended.

I’ve spent 2+ months traveling all over Thailand and this was one of the best, if not the best meals we’ve had. Our server was very helpful in selecting local dishes that accommodated our preferences. Very reasonably priced and we loved being able to try several small dishes. The owner grows some of her own produce used in dishes as well.

So so good, I cannot properly explain how delicious this was. I wish my stomach could hold more. Amazing. Owner is very friendly and explained all the things, making the atmosphere top notch. They even have sample size dishes so your taste buds can explore! Go here.

It is a cute cozy restaurant in the centre of Chang rai! The lady at the entrance is amazing, she has everything under control. The restaurant is very small and there are a bunch of tourists visiting. However the food is really good. In the menu they have the option to order a small portion of everything which is convenient. Also the menu has suggestions on which are the most typical dishes!

Had an amazing dinner here. Great atmosphere, incredibly kind staff, amazing food. I had nachos for starter and as main the double (cheese)burger, which were both delicious! I will definitely come back to this place and would recommend it. 10/10

I never write a review while I'm still in the restaurant. Is this place a little loud...sure. it is because everyone I can see is having a great time. We arrived at 6 and the dining room was almost full. Service was pleasant and not rushed. Food was fantastic and I was with two picky eaters. We had Ribs, Salmon and of course, Steak. All was very good. Almost made me homesick for the States...almost! There are a few restaurants here in Chiang Rai that I want to visit. Just trying to figure out which one to give a pass too. We all want to come back here. Kudos Hungry Wolf!

This is one of my favorite restaurants. A few days ago, I went for a meal with my family. We drank wine together. The food was standard and delicious, but the service from the service staff was quite bad. They watched as we drank the wine and had to pour ourselves the whole bottle. when we had finished our meal. No staff came to take our plates away. And that was not a busy day. Only one waitress did the job; the others just stayed and chilled.

Excellent meal! We had 5 cheese pizza, steak salad, tomato soup, lasagna, T-bone steak. All were great!

One of the greatest restaurant in Chiang Rai, excellent food and good service. I ordered buttermilk chicken parm, mint chocolate chip and requested some mac n cheese. All tasted great! The staff very lovely and friendly, especially a bartender, he’s really talented. And as a big fan of mint chocolate chip, a milkshake are my favourite here! I highly recommend. Overall, the food is worth every penny and very impressive :)

Nice joint, great service. The ambient music was pleasant, and the "American roadhouse/ smokehouse" decoration theme has a certain charm. I had the steak salad. Tasty, but salty dressing + salty feta cubes = oversalted. Still serviceable and there wasn't much left in my bowl! No surprise that the prices are considerably higher than at local food spots. But not unreasonable (i.e., not like at a hotel).

We had the pleasure of trying Hungry Wolf’s last night. Loved picking bottles of wine from their shop before dining. Staff was really attentive and sweet. Food was well priced and every dish was delicious.

a beautifully decorated steak house with enthusiastic staff, comfort environment and quality food. we spent a good hour here enjoyed the food and music after a long ride from Chiang Mai. ordered mushroom soup, tacos, pizza, steak and two cocktails for around 2600 baht.

The property is gorgeous and very serene and relaxing. The staff are lovely. Very accomodating, friendly and professional. The beds and pillows are very very comfortable and there the bathroom is a great size with very strong water pressure. Fantastic buffet breakfast in the morning. Rooms are very quiet Disliked · It would be great if the hotel had more options for in room dining. I don't think most people travel to northern Thailand to eat Italian and the other options to choose from are very limited. But the food they do offer is very good.

Very nice hotel. I had a wonderful stayed here. Big trees in the middle of hotel. I can feel the Lanna vibes. Very relaxing and peaceful. Not too crowned. The location is super. Service is excellent. Breakfast is a lot from egg station to curry, also has local food to try. Room is so big with high ceiling. Got everything I needed in the room. So satisfied!

We stayed 2 nights there, and the experience was lovely. Good breakfast. It met our expectation from this high standard hotel except one small overlook. On the day of our checkin we found the chair cushions at the balcony were wet from the early rain. They should have checked the room before we arrived as they were expecting us

I had a wonderful experience here. The room was well-apportioned and immaculately clean. Day-to-day service was outstanding. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was outstanding and Latitude 19 was relaxing with friendly staff. The property is gorgeous and well-kept. My stay here was probably as good or better than any hotel I've been to. Can't miss here.

One of the most satisfying hotel stays in awhile. The hotel has huge area and large greenery space and in-place activities. Its location is by the river and somewhere between airport and center city, easily to access both! The room is well-cleaned and maintained. We had decent sleep throughout our stay, everything in the room works flawlessly. Another best thing about the hotel is; breakfast. The hotel offers a decent range of food choices from western to seasonal local menus. We could tell the staffs truly prepare and cook most of food here. We looked forward to attend breakfast buffet line each morning here. The staffs here were friendly attentive and helpful, we’re happy to stay here and looking forward to be back.

This is a large hotel/resort set next to the river on large grounds. Its a great place to relax after a long day of sight seeing with a cocktail to see the sunset. The Italian restaurant is new, modern and tasty with a good happy hour drinks. The breakfast buffet was also quite extensive

The place is a dream. The staff very friendly and professional. The surrounding area in the hotel is perfect. Clean and well maintained. The rooms are big and bed is super confortable lots of hot water. The view I got from a huge amazing tree was inspiring. Breakfast food was really good. Good selection. Staff very kind and helpful. Italian restaurant not so good as for Italian food. The worst is the gentleman that set me on a table he said all tables near the river where all reserved. He set me on the last back table. Then a lady saw me and set me near the river. As l I finished and left, most tables where still empty. Very bad service from just one person. His attitude was not worth for this hotel.

A beautiful place. The hotel buildings are very nice and integrated with taste with the surrounding nature and river The sight is really beautiful. Breakfast is impressive However, they need to modernize the AC system in the rooma as it makes so much noose you can't sleep without turning it off.

Incredible. Lena the polish owner is the most wonderful human, great energy, great smile and conversation. I don't like hot sauce but gave her home made ones a go and I was blown away, they taste amazing. All her food is locally sourced healthy, vegan, and amazing. A small menu but you can tell she puts her heart and soul into cooking and creating these amazing foods.

Had a great vegan burger here at Kunda. The lady who runs this place is amazing and very friendly. BEST vegan chocolate cake you can find, made with all natural whole food ingredients. The burger is straight forward - flavorful patty with bun and sauce, made fresh everyday. No fries or salad accompanied. Food is slightly expensive compared to other similar restaurants.

Super fresh and tasty drinks and food. All vegan and almost 100% locally sourced. The salad was so fresh, and the drink I had was very refreshing and flavorful. The aesthetic is great—I love the heavy wooden tables and chairs and the small touches throughout. The owner is really kind and friendly. She grows her jalapeños on her roof and they’re insanely good! The hot sauces she makes are also quite tasty, especially the smoked one. You should absolutely try this cafe when in Chiang Rai! Update: I returned to try the jalapeño burger. It was so, so good. The patty was really nice, and it felt so clean to eat. Definitely worth getting this burger whether you’re vegan/vegetarian or not!

So grateful to visit Kunda for lunch and experience it’s unique atmosphere created by beautiful cheerful couple who knows how to cook, serve and celebrate life! The vegan burger was juicy and entirely made from veggies from local market just around the corner. What a treat! The whole place has its character full of funky messages inviting to think and feel out of the box. They also just received license to grow and sell cannabis and I’m sure they will follow organic practices. Congratulations guys! Yeah, and the Shiba Hot Sauce is about to go super famous so don’t forget to grab a bottle!

Today is my last day in Thailand, after a six week trip around the country, and I am so grateful I came across this place. Not only did I have the opportunity to eat real, living, fresh and local food, but also to meet, exchange, share with an amazing woman, which is the one in charge of the place. This place is somewhere you can rest, nourish yourself, trough food and humanity. The hardest thing when you travel alone, is that you meet incredible people who you never know if you’ll see them again or not. And today, I had one of those meeting in this restaurant. Thank you for making me feel at home, at peace with myself, for giving love to people trough food and talks.

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely people. This is one of the only places you can get healthy food on Chiang Rai. All the food comes from local sources and the owner / chef personally knows the farmers. The food tastes great and isn’t unreasonably priced. It’s a must go to place if you are just stopping by Chiang Rai or if you’re a local. 10/10 would recommend.

The food here is amazing. All cooked fresh and no fake meats the best tasting vegan burger I have had in the whole of Thailand. And you have to try the chocolate cake it was to die for.

The girl has very good energy from the first moment you enter, she is charming. I definitely recommend the Dirty Chai Latte! With coffee direct from Chiang Rai, Chai tea made by her and hand-pressed coconut milk from the surrounding markets, the best I've ever tasted. When we left it was raining a lot and she lent us an umbrella, thank you very much for the deal!
