This starts with a nice relaxing ferry ride to the island. We loved sitting on the deck outside and looking at the water and the city. Once we arrived at Fort Sumter, we were giving a brief overview by one of the Rangers about the monument. The Rangers are extremely knowledgeable and can answer almost any questions. There is a lot of history there and it is interesting to learn. It’s well preserved a great addition to our Charleston trip. We probably would not go back again but we were glad we went once.

The tour of Fort Sumter was the perfect length at approximately an hour. We took the first tour at 9:30 and I highly recommend it. It is cooler and better yet we rode with all the docents! Ranger Walter gave the history of the Fort and the area. It is mostly preserved in its mostly destroyed state. Restoring it imo would take away from the story.

A great and exciting monument of American history. We had a fun ferry ride to and from Fort Sumter. We were the last group for the day and the park rangers asked for volunteers to help lower the flag at the end of the day… such a wonderful experience. A great museum to walk through and learn so much about Fort Sumter. Allow 2-3 hours of time (1/2 hr ferry ride each way and about a hour in Fort Sumter).

Must do experience while in Charleston. I must admit spending time on the water to and from the island was half the reason I visited Fort Sumter. The views of the Battery, Ravenal Bridge, and Sullivan's Island from the ferry were stunning. Knowledgeable guides and a very well written brochure provided more background and history than could be absorbed for one day. Next time I'd like to go early and stay late, so I could spend more time in the museum. The sound system can't compete with the engine and the waves. More speakers on board are needed to be able to actually hear the park ranger clearly. Old and young alike catch just enough snippets to be tantalized without being informed. Also, the web site refers to a garage on the Charleston side without providing a map or the cost of parking, so we opted for Patriots Park on the Mt Pleasant side for $5. All in all, the excursion was well worth the time and money. I'll make time for a fourth trip when I can make a day of it. Fascinating, really.

This is a must do exhibit if you visit the Charleston area. You have a brief ferry trip to the monument. As you arrive, you can see the stations of where the cannons were pointing outward. The fort itself is well preserved and it’s history is very fascinating. Quick tip: You can take part in the “raising” and lowering of the American flag if you are on either the 9:00 or 4:00 tours. The overall tour was quite informative and pleasant.

While it was one of the hottest days, the Ferry ride and the Fort were amazing. Because we were on the first tour of the day, they needed help raising the garrison flag. I didn't hold the flag but I got to witness my family participating. Bring a water bottle, they have refill fountains at the fort.

The ferry ride to Fort Sumter is pleasant and relaxing. When we got to the fort, we had to wait almost 15 minutes for the ferry in front of us to load and depart before we could disembark and explore the fort, and our time was cut short because of it. My advice, please plan to get back to the ferry on time so others may have the same experience. Other then being rushed, it was a great experience, hearing the story of the history of the fort was fascinating, and the museum was packed full of information and artifacts.

Ft Sumter Is Beautiful a lot of cool history! I recommend you take the Last Ferry of the day you also will have a chance to take down the flag and fold it when arriving at the island for the last Trip! Very beautiful place and the museum is pretty cool!

Essential American history expedition. Park Rangers were knowledgeable and did a great job sharing both Union and Confederate viewpoints to give the complete story of one of the pivotal places in our nation’s history.

First, the 30 min ferry ride was relaxing and informational. We were able to spot dolphins several times during the ride. The historic Fort itself is wonderful to explore. They have a museum which explains the history of the Fort and displays historic artifacts. The flag raising ceremony (first trip only) was also very meaningful. Restrooms were clean and well maintained. There’s also a tiny gift store at the fort.

Nice relaxing and informative boat ride out. We were the first tour of the day so we got to see the raising of the flag. Amazing when coupled with the history of the fort. The young lady who gave us the history was amazing at her job. I teared up a couple times. (I'm like that with some history things I guess.) When arriving and going to the flag pole, and continued history, it knocks out 10-15 minute from the hour that you have, The only thing I would like to see is an extra half hour to tour the grounds more. Other than that it was well worth the time and ticket to get there!!

Great place to soak in history. Wish we had a bit more time to get around and read all the plaques and fully experience the museum.

As a history nerd, this monument literally makes me giddy. I spent several hours exploring this place boring my poor parents with every random fact I know. It is definitely worth the trip if you know the history. Even if you don't know the history, it is still pretty darn cool. I mean, who doesn't love old abandoned forts and cannons?

Wonderful place, can feel the past come alive here. The ferry ride gives you a chance to see other ships too. Currently a ticket is $35.. Note to park in the lot for the ferry, is $5 same as it has been the last 10+ years.

One of my best experiences during my visit to Charleston. The bridge itself is magnificent and an engineering marvel. If I lived here, I'd want to walk across it daily. Here are a few observations if you're planning to visit: Parking: I did a search for Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park on Google. There are a lot of parking spots located right under the bridge giving you easy access to the path. This is on the Mount pleasant side. Timing: The bridge is 2.5 miles long in one direction. There is an incline as you go up. Plan your timing accordingly based on your level of fitness and if you want to take a lot of photos. Weather: Three miles into the five mile trek, a massive storm blew in and I was soaked. There is nowhere to shelter (not a complaint...... This isn't something you'd expect on a bridge crossing). Check the weather before. The wind picks up very strongly at times so don't wear loose clothing etc.

Fantastic suspension bridge. Unique triangles dominate the horizon from every direction. See lots of people getting their walk or run in on the Mt Pleasant side of the bridge. Highly visible from the deck of the docked carrier vessel CV-10.

Very beautiful and scenic. Amazing views! This area has many treasures to explore. Be careful, it's a highly trafficked highway. Taking in the scenes can cause a10 car pile up.

Such a cool bridge to run or bike over! My kids and I ran ( ok they walked ) over it a few times. Lots of other people doing the same and super safe even with lots of traffic speeding past. Great way to get 5miles run in from one side to the other and back

This is an espectacular and cool bridge to run, walk or bike. The views and the scenery are amazing, I walked during sunset and it’s just a beautiful place to do your morning or evening routine. There are water fountains and the begging, mid point and the end of the route just in case you forgot your water bottle. If you’re in the Charleston area this is a must to do during your visit and it’s free !

Love driving over this bridge it always amazes me of the view of whole City of Charleston. Can’t wait for this years 2022 Bridge Run! See ya out there runners! Also anywhere you drive in Charleston you can see the big diamonds.

Fantastic bridge with even better views. Walking, running, jogging, or biking trail that's separated from bridge vehicle traffic. Fun place to run and catch great views.

What a great walk, run or bike! 2 1/2 miles one way, park and get your exercise in. Highly recommended.

A short walk from either side of the bridge and your view is picturesque. Walk, run, bike, scooter, or skate the length of the bridge if you want a bit of exercise. We took a casual walk 1/2 way and back. Then spent the rest off the evening walking in the park and in the pier. You can definitely make an afternoon or evening out of a visit to the bridge. There is a visitor center, cafe, gift shop, lots of riverfront seating all over, open grass areas and a gated playground for the kiddos.

Lovely grounds. You pull into the gravel parking lot and there is a Cafe/market to the left. Please know that is not the only place to grab a bite. You can access this, as well as the gift shop, prior to your paid entrance. We opted for a tour of the house for an additional $15pp. Not sure if I would do that again. We were maybe in there 15 minutes....maybe. it's self guided but there are volunteers to tell stories or answer questions. If you are expecting a grand southern plantation mansion, this is not it. Its a small 2 story home. The first thing you see upon entering the plantation is the large reflecting pond. Very beautiful. The next thing you'll notice is the livestock running amuck. Namely sheep. So be careful where you walk. 😉 they do have a lovely dining room. It was a very nice plantation. Lots of grounds to explore. Everyone was very nice. Just not that grand southern home. Not sure the livestock gets the best care. Which is why I gave it 4 stars.

We visited Middleton in late September 2022. Granted, hurricane Ian provided atypical weather, but in general, it’s probably not the best time to visit. Little to nothing was in bloom. The grounds were well kept and people were friendly and helpful. There were a few animals freely roaming - a handful of sheep and some swans. They had horse stables but nothing super interactive. There are some small buildings to showcase how the enslaved lived, but it’s not very detailed. The grounds had easy walking paths - mostly sand-based so if you are wearing sandals, know you’ll get a little dusty. There’s a restaurant on site which is nice. The beyond the fields tour … wasn’t a tour. You gather around under a tree, sit on benches and listen to a historian explain the enslaved conditions. It was informative, but different than how it was presented. There is a restroom, gift shop and plant shop in the parking area. It’s not a must-see for me. We spent about 2.5 hours here.

Absolutely gorgeous location. The oak trees are stunning, the gardens are lovely to stroll through, and I love a history lesson. We went to the restaurant last week and enjoyed the drive out, delicious food and cocktails and friendly and helpful staff. Shout out to Maggie who helped us make memorable dish selections. Looking forward to coming back later this fall for a wine stroll. I went last year and enjoyed it so much, I am coming back with girlfriends! I would recommend it as a date or as a nice evening with friends.

Restaurant had a very good steak, but the locally made cinnamon ice cream, I honestly cannot stop thinking about it. The view outside this restaurant, although "wild" not tamed, alligators were ALL OVER THE PROPERTY, was Southern thick farmland and just spectacular. The property tour was very neat and the history was rich and interesting. The Inn was very different and unique, rooms had ceiling to floor windows showing the lush grounds. An interesting property worth the visit.

Breathtaking! This place was the highlight of our honeymoon. The cured gardens and ponds were like a dream. The staff are all very helpful and know their stuff or will send you to someone who does. What a pleasant and enjoyable day. Give yourself a whole day to soak in the history and experience of this estate. Enjoy!

Beautiful grounds and house. Wonderful restaurant on property with absolutely amazing food. House tour was very informative as were the historical interpreters around the grounds. Very relaxing and serene surroundings.

Visiting from Georgia and this was such a fun outing! Bought student tickets online, quick and easy. The parking is good. The whole estate is very large and worth the price. There are some small trails around the swamp, some by the water, some around the garden. It is all well maintained and beautiful. We were not able to attend any of the tours but there are plenty scheduled throughout the day. The livestock here are very nice and obviously well taken care of. The chickens ran up to us expecting food, which kind of startled my partner. I loved the whole experience here. Though I do recommend coming when the heat of summer isn’t in full affect, we were dripping sweat by the time we were done here in July.

Great historical place to visit. Beautiful landscapes and the old buildings are amazing. Bring bottled water as it was hot a d humid and there is a lot of walking but, worth every minute of it.

Absolutely beautiful! Loved getting to walk around and explore the gardens- there were tons of free garden tours or other guides that you could listen to- to learn more information about. But overall it was such a wonderful way to spend the afternoon. It’s pretty far North Charleston- and tons of walking- we got there around 9:30am and didn’t get done until 12:45pm- so allocate for a good chunk of time here!

Absolutely loved it! Amazing grounds and scenery. The house tour was really cool, lots of history in the building. The restaurant waa nice, I didn't eat there, but it smelled amazing. Had a couple drinks at bar, beat Old Fashioned I have had in years! Huge shout out to Colby H.....kudos buddy!

We booked a tour van out to the estate which included transportation, tour of house and lunch. Self guided tour of grounds and gardens in between the timed tour and lunch.Beautiful place and well preserved house with interesting articles from the Middletons. Gardens are beautifully maintained. All of the staff were extremely helpful and kind. A must if visiting Charleston.

This is a lovely place to spend the day. We went specifically to see the Middleton Oak. The ticket agent was helpful with directions to get to the oak on the shortest route. The grounds are lovely with lots of wooded, shady paths. We saw swans in the reflecting pond and alligators in the flooded rice fields, which my daughter was very excited about. The two gift shops are very nice and well stocked with a variety of items of different price points.

Beautiful garden! Very peaceful place for you to just chill and relax. There are historical statues you can view and appreciate. It is next to the battery as well for you to enjoy the ocean.

First time I came here was in 1998, I totally forgot about that trip. Glad I was able to see it again. Very well maintained. Beautiful scenery and peace here. Crazy to think what used to be there and what took place though.

White Point Garden is a must-stop when visiting Charleston. Take King Street south, and it runs right into White Point Garden. Take a few moments and take in all the history. And make sure you loop around to Waterfront Park and wade in the pineapple fountain.

We liked this tour. The home has been beautifully restored as much as possible, to the origin design and decor. It was very interesting to learn all about the people who lived there over the years. It wasn't very long which allowed for time to see more tours. It was $15/person. We enjoyed the beauty and architecture of this home.

A look into the past. We did the self guided tour. We were given headphones and an ipod like device. Each room has a 3 to 5 minute presentation. It was very informative. It's incredible to see how people used to live. Although some rooms are colorful, I'd imagine that kids would be bored. The staircase is magnificent.

The Nathaniel-Russell House was a beautiful place to visit and to learn about the history and architecture of Charleston, South Carolina. The house was impressive, especially the crown molding on the second floor, the spiral staircase, and the dining room on the first floor. The garden was also wonderful and worth walking through and checking out before or after taking the tour of the house. This was an audio tour on an iPhone, so if you have more comfortable headphones, plan to bring those! This was a great experience overall.

The house tour was lovely, very informative historian that guided us in each room and shared stories and information of the homes history. was a cool experience to get to see the “inside” of a home in Charleston of what it would have looked like back in time. Would recommend if you want to do a house tour

An amazing experience. You cannot see all that Charleston has to offer in a weekend however this is a must see. This home has been restored to its original charm and character. Please see the photo of the steps which was cutting edge at the time this home was built.

Very cool house with great history. We did the guided tour & it was worth it. You can really tell the dedication the staff puts forth to make sure all restoration is authentic.

It's hard to know how to feel about these places. Is it a historic place because a rich man lived there who made his money from chattel slavery? The museum has made an effort to acknowledge that dark history so that's why I'd recommend it.

We had a lovely time at Nathaniel Russell house. We skipped the audio tour in lieu of a guided tour with Maxine - and I’d recommend that all day, every day if she’s there. She was an excellent host - full of knowledge and happy to answer questions. The house isn’t huge like some estates we’ve visited, but it’s also reasonably priced to balance that out. We spent about an hour there. There’s a small gift shop area by the ticket counter with books, puzzles and ornaments. If you’re looking for a low key tour - check this out!

The self guided audio tour was excellent, as were the gardens. The house itself, while lovely, didn't really have any character and it would have been nice to be provided with more information on occupants. Worth a visit.

This is a great example of a large house where terrible white people lived. Just seeing the amount of opulence they enjoyed while owning other human beings was staggering. The guided tour did a great job of showing the price the enslaved people paid for the family to afford the luxuries they had. Also, in the back of the house seeing the conditions the people they enslaved lived under were sobering and eye opening and atrocious all at the same time. A very good way to see the terrible history of this section of Charleston life.

It was a warm summer night, we were in the mood for a Charleston Staple and came to this gem. Upon entry you see a huge home with of course a big porch. Upon entry you feel like you are in a row home in DC or a old house in New Orleans. They have a small bar right behind the host stand if you are waiting for your reservation. We made one and were sat right away. The food here is amazing, all the classic southern dishes. We had the fried green tomatoes (amazing), lamb - meat falls right off the bone, and a Salmon southern Caesar salad. For drinks I had the bourbon flight, very fairly priced at $20 for 3 glasses of bourbon. Service was top notch as well. We didn’t do dessert as we had it before, but it looked great. Highly recommend this Charleston classic!

This was recommended by my taxi driver from the airport who is a local. It did not disappoint. The venue was very nice and historically beautiful. Their fried chicken sandwich was the best I have had. There was not a huge menu, but the options we had were really good. Definitely a must have if your are in Charleston.

We had reservations and were seated promptly. The waiter, Brett, was so friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. Our appetizers were the fried green tomatoes and fried okra, both were absolutely delicious. The bacon jam was so savory and yummy. For our entrees we ordered the house salad, shrimp and grits, and the pork chop. Everything tasted fresh and so good. The pork chop was absolutely delicious. I mean, possibly the BEST meal ever. Such an enjoyable atmosphere. I can’t wait to come back.

Above average brunch - but it didn’t blow my socks off. The pimento cheese fritters with bacon jam were the first thing we ate. These were my favorite thing we had. The fritters were fried well and the pimento cheese on the inside was perfectly melted. The bacon jam was outstanding. I’d never had bacon jam before but I knew Poogan’s porch was well known for their bacon jam and it was delicious. The texture was great - small bits of bacon with some sort of jam. It was perfectly flavorful and an excellent complement to the fritters. The complementary biscuits were good but not great. I’d say they were pretty average for biscuits. They felt a little too dense in my opinion. The main entree I had was the chicken fried pork chop. I thought the chicken fried pork chop was fried pretty well and I liked the texture and gravy on top. The grits served with the dish were good in my opinion but I am not a grits expert so I have minimal experience to compare this to. The service was fine. A little slow but they took care of us fine.

Service and atmosphere was fantastic. The bartender told us the story of the sisters that lived in the house. Very interesting. The shrimp and grits looked great but not the best flavor I have had. Not horrible but wouldn't try that next time. I would go back again though. My friend had the egg white omelet and it was great. We all had fried green tomatoes 🍅 and it was the best 👌

Rosco was an excellent server. He explained the menu to a tee. He was attentive, friendly and made us feel like we were dining in his home. The food was delicious, the only reason we gave the food four stars is because the sauce for the salmon was too much. I think the salmon and succotash alone would’ve been divine. Oh and it’s a MUST to end your meal with their chocolate cake, it’s to die for!

We were looking for a place for dinner in Downtown Charleston and this place popped up. We went during weekday and no wait at all. We ordered She crab soup, famous Fried chicken, the Catch of the day (Grouper) with green bean and the red rice and ended with Pecan pie. They gave us warm biscuit as soon as we sat down which was good. The soup is delicious. The fish is moist and flavorful. The fried chicken is very tasty and the pecan pie with vanilla ice-crean finished the day. It's a must try restaurant when you are at Charleston.

Best chicken and waffles I’ve had. Crispy skin on the chicken, not overly greasy, and juicy meat. Waffles were also good, not chewy/doughy. Egg white omelette is a very generous portion and hash browns that remind me of McDonald’s breakfast hash browns but way better! Really charming restaurant - inside of a house and good service from the staff. Highly recommend and would come back!

Had a wonderful lunch here this past Sunday! The restaurant has a small cozy homey cute vibe. There seemed to be a wait when we got there so this must be the happening spot for brunch. The Fried Green Tomatoes was a great appetizer—the bacon jam for the dip was so delicious! Really enjoyed the Shrimp & Grits (with poached egg for $2.50) and Country Fried Chicken—both huge portions and very tasty! Our cocktails were great as well!

Great service. We came in without a reservation during a busy weekend at 730p and got a seat. The waiter was friendly, helpful, and fast. My spouse and I loved the apps, entrees and dessert. They had great southern biscuits to start, with whipped butter that had a hint of honey. I got the lavender cocktail but with gin instead of vodka and it was amazing (and that's coming from someone who loves a good lavender beverage). We got shrimp and grits and the catch of the day (grouper). The portions were a good size, but not huge. We got the pecan pie to split for dessert. Overall everything was pretty great. The waiter made what would be a good meal - great. Definitely would come back- especially to drink :)

You should go here if only for the Sweet Tea and Chocolate Cake. These were A++. The BBQ Mahi and Chicken Fried Pork Chop were great. Mac and Cheese was good but too cheesy for us. Would definitely recommend to family and friends.

Poogan's Porch was absolutely amazing! I made a reservation two days before as I was bringing my dog and wanted to make sure we were able to get outdoor seating. When we arrived we were seated right away on the patio in the back on the first floor and there was a water bowl already waiting. Our waitress Keri, filled up the water bowl right away for my dog which I very much appreciated. Keri was very sweet and accommodating to not only me but my dog as well. We ordered the fried green tomatoes and they were absolutely phenomenal! The bacon jam and pimento cheese sauce that it comes with on the side was a perfect pairing! The shrimp and grits are incredible. The portion size was a bit big for me so I did not finish it but did take it to go. I also ordered one of the mock-tails on the menu which was delicious! I would highly recommend both dishes when you go there. It was a hot sunny day but the patio where we were was covered and there was a fan outside which helped a lot. I will definitely be back next time in Charleston!

The great food hits keep coming on our tour of the south...as vegetarians, we always want to eat in a place that gives a true experience of the region we're eating in, without feeling like second-class citizens. We had that experience at Magnolias...a restaurant serving up classic southern dishes, in a fine-dining atmosphere. Honestly not the first place anyone would think of when it comes to getting a vegetarian meal, but, check out their menu, "The Magnolia Classic Vegetarian" is the very first item they list. We felt right welcome. We didn't have a reservation which is an issue at this popular French District restaurant but seating at the bar is first-come-first-serve, and they do offer full service there, so if you're okay with not having a nice table cloth and your table being a little smaller (if you're not at the bar-counter) then you're in good shape. We found a 2-top in the bar area immediately and it overlooked the main dining area so we felt like we were part of the whole thing. Okay, full disclosure, my wife does not always eat vegetarian so she wanted to have an authentic "best of" shrimp and grits experience in town, which is what led us here. She liked what she got and I was thrilled with the "Magnolias Classic Vegetarian" – A very filled plate with fried green tomatoes, corn asparagus, mashed potatoes, melted pimento cheese (not too melted), and green beans...so so many southern flavors on my plate really gave me an authentic sampling of a southern palette. We especially loved our server, the bartender Carrie. She was super friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and took very good care of us. Based on her recommendation we came back a second time, later, on a different night to have the Pecan Pie. This fabulous creation on a plate, topped with ice cream, was undoubtedly the best slice of pecan pie we'd ever had. If you want a perfect fine-dining, authentically southern meal, with a fantastic vegetarian dish, Magnolias is the place for you. Don't skip the pecan pie.

Magnolia’s recently reopened after a fire in their kitchen. I was delighted to get lunch reservations on my recent trip to Charleston with a dear friend. It was my friend’s first time in Charleston and would not have been complete without a trip to Magnolia’s. The food was fabulous as always. My friend was a good sport and tried the fried liver which I loved. Everything was perfect including the champagne they offered us since it was a mini anniversary for us. The tart was light and refreshing and a nice difference from the typical Keylime pie. Paul was I believe our waiter’s name and very attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the restaurant and hope that you will try it soon.

Had a 1:45pm reservation and enjoyed our meal from start to finish. Hostess was very polite and sweet. Our waiter (cannot remember his name) was nice as well and informative of the menu. I loved the green fried tomatoes and shellfish with grits so much that I kept thinking about it after leaving the restaurant. Highly recommend those choices and this restaurant. Will be returning back again!

This place was amazing from start to finish. Enjoyed the walk-up to the actual restaurant, historic street with a neat vibe. Inside seated quickly and very high class elegant atmosphere. Our server, Gabe, was quick to greet us and offer us recommendations. Ordered the fried green tomatoes, fried chicken, and the bouillabaisse. All of it was delicious and amazing, so much food couldn't even finish it even though you wanted to find the room. About halfway through, my wife and I switched plates and enjoyed the others plate just as much. My kid got the cheeseburger off the kids meal and it was huge. He though the cheese looked like a brain so had to include that picture. Not from this area, but I would definitely recommend it!! If I ever come back to this area this will be a must have dinner spot.

I had never even heard of this restaurant, but I am definitely going to take another trip here! They consider themselves an ‘Uptown Down South’ restaurant, and it’s so true! I’ve had country cookin’ all over the place, but never with such class! The place was already packed from reservations yesterday, so we made reservations for today. According to the website we were only allowed to make reservations in parties of two, but when we arrived the hostess was very amenable and allowed all four of us to sit together. The place looks like a high class place, staff acts like a high class wait staff, and the food is high class goodness! White tablecloths, linen napkins, water goblets, and heavy silverware. Of course, it was super clean, staff was very friendly, especially our waitress, Callie! When she found out we were first-timers, she explained the menu in vivid detail. She was awesome! Kept our glasses full at all times and even changed out our silverware after the appetizers! I don’t think there are enough good words to say about the food, so I’m just gonna let you skim the pics and wipe away the drool. 🤤

A staple in Charleston, and for good reason. My friends and I were impressed with everything we ate. The Prosciutto & Apple Grilled Cheese was delicious. It has the perfect balance of meat to fig spread to apple. I would have loved to return to try everything on the menu. The service was great, the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and had good recommendations. Magnolia’s is worth a stop!

Called this restaurant at the last minute after arriving in Charleston for a reservation for 4. Got one immediately. Can I tell you the hostess, waiter, and even the young lady that sat us was superb. The appetizers, drinks, and dinner was all delectable!

Had an amazing dinner here to celebrate a birthday. The food was perfect in every way. As others have said, definitely end off with the pecan pie, but otherwise you can't seem to go wrong with the menu. Also an extensive, and I do mean extensive list of wines available as well as some half bottles.

Had always heard great things about this place and it lived up to the hype. A few friends who grew up in the area recommended this place and I was right to listen to them. The service was great. Large wine list. They were great about allergies and making sure no cross contamination happened at any time. Always making sure what was ordered was prepared safely. The fried green tomatoes and house made pimento cheese were delicious, definitely recommend. The seafood over grits was fantastic and was served over a delicious sauce. The desserts were heavenly, specifically the pecan pie and espresso cheesecake. Will definitely be back

Hyman's did not disappoint! We had a party of 8, including kids. We had several appetizers, entrees, and kids got ice cream from the general store. Everything we had was amazing - catch of the day, lobster/crab Mac n cheese, shrimp extravaganza- yum! The owner, Victor Hyman, stopped by our table and he was very friendly and made a great impression. He even gave the kids free ice cream at the store below. You'll likely have to wait on a table, but it's 100% worth the wait!

We just spent the week in Charleston and the Hyman's Seafood was the best meal we had while we were there. We had several friends recommend Hyman's and it did not disappoint. There was a pretty long wait so we decided to eat at the bar and I'm glad we did because we had excellent service. We were both tempted to go back again for dinner the next evening but wanted to try different spots while in Charleston but we both wished we had of went back. Now we have a great excuse to go back to Charleston again this Fall. The halibut was awesome and so was the shrimp and grits. We stayed at the Indigo Inn which was awesome because it was across the street from Hyman's. Don't go to Charleston without trying Hyman's, you'll be glad you went.

Fun place with good food. The seafood here was great. The owner greeted us and made sure we were taken well attended too. We had a party of 7 and they got us seated in 30 minutes. Appetizers were great and came out quickly. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. The menu can be a little overwhelming but there are some great options. The gator sausage, sea bass croquettes and the famous Carolina delight are great apps. The shrimp platter and flounder were our favorites of the entrées. The hush puppies were fantastic as well. Highly recommend for some good fried seafood.

Simply fantastic. The food is extremely fresh, tasty and not oily like many fried seafoods. The combination of flavors, sauces and cooking is perfect! The service could not be any better. Our server Victoria did an amazing job, recommending when we asked without pushing and checking on us regularly. One of the owners stopped by and gave us a very warm welcome, which shows he truly cares. Excellent first experience and definitely coming back.

We decided to try Hymans! Driving up and seeing the wait, we almost said never mind. However, by the time we parked and walked back down the street, the crowd had been checked in. The wait was about 45 minutes. Once we entered we loved the authenticity of the Restaurant. The seafood and side dishes were cooked to perfection, fresh, delicious, and you could taste the “Southern” inspiration in each dish. I LOVED the quotes and words of wisdom that were on each table. I grabbed a small stack to take home with me, with permission to do so. The highlight of this dining experience was the manager coming to each table and verbally showing appreciation for our dining, and letting us know that they desired our honest feedback… Wow!

This restaurant is one of the best seafood restaurant in Charleston. When you walked into the restaurant, you see lots of celebrities who visited the restaurant. They have lots of seafood selections with very good prices. Dinner is only $25-$30 and they are super delicious. We ordered the famous Carolina Delight and the choose 3 items dinner. The Chilean sea bass croquette is full of flavors. The mussels comes with a good portion even though it is a part of the 3 items dinner. The Haddock fish is moist and juicy. We got the free fried green tomatoes appetizer with coupon from the Charleston visitor center visitor map. The house hush puppies and Cole slaw are so good. The best part is the price. With 2 seafood dinner entries, 1 drink and free appetizer, our check is less than $70 before taxes. The servers are friendly and the atmosphere is casual. I love the Motto of the restaurant "attitude" as well. This is definitely a must try seafood restaurant in Charleston. Good quality of food and affordable price.

My new husband and I were debating where to go on the last night of our honeymoon and picked Hyman's. Boy, did we make the right choice!! I got the combo dinner, with fried Chilean sea bass, crab cake, and mac and cheese, and my husband got the bourbon glazed Chilean sea bass, salmon and grits, and fries. We got fried pickles, hush puppies, and boiled peanuts to start. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. I'm normally not big on fried fish, but got the sea bass fried at the recommendation of Yolanda, our server, and it was so delicious! Yolanda was friendly and was just the right amount of attentive. The general store on the way out has some cool scrubs, bath bombs, and apparel as well. Such a wonderful experience!!

Just ate here with my wife for our anniversary. Didn't know anything about the place just that it had great reviews and it didn't disappoint. We started with the Carolina Delight appetizer and that was delicious. My wife got the Deep South platter and I had a platter with Chilean Sea Bass & deviled crab. All of it was phenomenal. I'm not much a fan of seafood personally, but I enjoyed everything I tried here. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the owner personally visited every table to chat for a few minutes and gave us a free dessert for our anniversary. Couldn't ask for a better experience.

This is the best restaurant I have been to in Charleston, hands down. The owners are so kind and their servers are amazing. Clifton H. was our server today and he was a delight. So personable and thoughtful. The food though..if I could give it 12000 stars I would. So tasty!! Worth every penny. You get a ton of food. I recommend this to EVERYONE. Please come here if you want an amazing Charleston experience.

This place is absolutely awesome The food was great the service was great it's a bit tight downstairs in the restaurant but it's worth it. I will say it only got four stars for the atmosphere because behind the stairs on the side there is some seating by an exit smell really bad we had to move but they moved us with no problem. Our server's name was Josh has a ponytail and glasses cool guy very knowledgeable The owner Victor came out and greeted us and gave us some pretty cool information about the multicolored cards on the table I do suggest using those to have a little fun. Overall the restaurant was great and I recommend getting the sea bass croquette over fried grits awesome, awesome, awesome. Also try the peach tea slushie you will not regret it. Also the restaurant is pet friendly. Leave comments if you go.

Hyman’s is the iconic restaurant of Charleston, being a family-owned business for 5 generations. Located next to a General store of the same name, in a renovated historic house, it evokes an aura of Southern sophistication, nuanced with antebellum charm. We had the Restaurant Week special (6 courses) and Captain’s Platter, preceded by Cole Slaw, Hush Puppies and boiled peanuts. The famous Chilean Sea Bass croquettes did not disappoint and the platters were flavorful and filling. Dessert was Key Lime Pie. We had a lovely Saturday evening dinner after a 1-hour wait. We highly recommend this place!

My wife found this place, and we enjoyed eating breakfast there with parents while we were in town. Everything we has was so good. The biscuits were massive, soft, and delicious. They reminded you of grandma's biscuits on a Saturday morning!! I recommend the corn beef hash. It was so good! 🤤

I will say, be prepared to breakout the wallet for breakfast. But with that being said, this place is super cute, awesome, and quite. The coffee was always fresh and hot, the beignets were delicious. The omelette was a little small comparative to the amount of home fries that were given, but still delicious. If I were to live here, I wouldn’t frequent here and I’d rather go to another broken egg, but overall is still a great place for breakfast!

Unfortunately, this spot did not live up to the hype. I got the chicken and waffle and was disappointed. I would see this is my least favorite chicken and waffle I’ve ever had. The chicken was barely seasoned, chewy, no honey, no butter. Not hot. My wife had the French toast. She felt this was straight out of a frozen bag and warmed up. My son got the Single Deluxe French Toast. I tried some and thought it was ok. The location was not super clean. The waitress was friendly, but I could tell she was new. I did like the corn beef hash. My son loved his omelet with steak. The fresh orange juice was also good.

This place was awesome! My girlfriend and I stopped in while out for the day. I got the corned beef omelet with grits, a biscuit, and a side of sausage gravy and was very impressed. My girl got the crab and shrimp omelet and loved hers as well. I would definitely go again and try something new as everything I saw looked amazing. 10/10.

Great food! Large portions!get the single stuffed French toast! The double really is like half a loaf of bread! The food was out pretty quickly and all fresh! The tequila sunrise was yummy! The server we had was absolutely fabulous! He went out of his way to explain things and make sure we have everything we needed! He was very attentive and also jokes with us! Definitely Recommended for brunch although I will Say it is a bit more expensive than we thought! We ended up paying $83 for 3 people! But we did get to go boxes and made another meal out of it so it was like $20 a meal.

The shrimp and grits was good but could have used a bit for salt to my liking. I enjoyed the freshness of the tomatoes on top. Customer service was great, environment was nice, and overall clean. My husband enjoyed his chicken and waffles. Side note: I tried to eat all of my grits and barely did so. The portion was well worth the price. Will definitely return!

Late morning breakfast finds us deep into Charleston for our first meal of the day. Easily parked on the street about 50 yards from the restaurant. Wednesday no crowds. Sat immediately. Wait staff was very pleasant. Coffee was tasty. Table for 2. Very low key chill place with Cafe style. Ordered the crab cakes with poached egg and I wasn't disappointed! It was probably the best crab cake I've had in a while! I would order that again just to see if that was a hoax or the real deal. Totally caught off my guard by how good that was. Will do it again next time I visit. Highly recommend.

Everything Awesome We loved ate experience here on King St - Charleston…. We needed a dog friendly restaurant… we didn’t even know there was a back patio and it was nice and perfect. Dog treats, dog water and fresh oranges !! They even treated our dog to a nice piece of bacon. Our food and drinks were so good. I totally recommend the BLT/Fried Green tomato sandwich!! The sweet potato fries so hot and fresh. My daughter said her mimosa with fresh squeezed orange juice was the best she’s ever had. Kileigh our server was very nice and attentive. It didn’t take long at all for our drinks and food. I highly recommend this place.

This place feels like a dinner but not a very good one. The restaurant itself is not very clean as we were sat a table covered in leftover food. The eggs were watery and extremely bland. The Turkey sausage was undercooked and oily. The “artisan greens” are just a bag of grocery store lettuce covered in a very acidic vinaigrette. The toast was the best part of my meal. I wouldn’t recommend this place, even as far as diners go it’s pretty poor quality. The server was friendly and the food did come out quick.

As soon as we walked in the door we were greeted by two awesome hostess, a security guard and Mr. Brain Hall himself! They asked were we celebrating anything and I said our anniversary and EVERYONE began wishing us a Happy Anniversary! We were immediately escorted to our table were we met the best waiter, Brandon (Brendan) and the manager who brought us two complimentary glasses of champagne for our anniversary! Things just got better from there! The drinks, the appetizers, the melt in your mouth steak, and the desert all STELLAR!! Waiter super knowledgeable and made great suggestions. The desert was complimentary for our anniversary as well. I felt like we were treated like royalty! We are from NY and visits A LOT of steakhouses. This has become our number 1 topping Peter Lugers and Smith and Wollenskys! The service and hospitality are SECOND TO NONE! Don’t hesitate, make the reservation. You won’t regret it!!!!

What an amazing experience we had here at Hall's! We e to celebrate my husband's birthday and they basically rolled out the red carpet for us from the moment we arrived. Customer service was off the charts good. They kicked off the night with two complimentary glasses of champagne. We order a cup of she crab soup and the lump crab cake for our appetizers and for entrees, I went with the queen cut prime rib and hubby got the Kansas City bone-in steak. We shared 1/2 portions of the creamed corn and the macaroni and cheese. The food was amazing and delicious. Portions were huge enough that we packed up and had enough for leftovers the next day. From the perfectly made cocktails to the attention to details and exemplary service, we couldn't have asked for a nice birthday dinner. We even met Tommy, the owner, who was so nice and they sent my hubby his birthday dessert of choice (caramel cake) free of charge with a candle. Let me tell you, I left there feeling like it was my birthday too! Cannot recommend Hall's Chophouse Charleston enough! Thank you for making my husband's evening so special!

I went to Halls for my anniversary. I was early for my reservation and despite being very busy, I was quickly accommodated. The manager was fantastic and toasted our anniversary. The wait staff was very attentive and very knowledgeable. The waiter answered all our questions and made some very fantastic recommendations. The food was fantastic. The food is expensive, but it is worth every single penny. The value is there for the price. The meal was overall fantastic and so was the service. Do your mouth a favor and eat here

Halls Chophouse had not only exceptional food, but also gave an exceptional experience. First off, reservations seem to be a MUST! I booked about a month in advance and my options were 1600 or 2200. Upon getting there, everyone was so welcoming and asked if we were celebrating anything, which we were for our anniversary before my husband deployed. Once we were seated, we were given complimentary glasses of champagne and got the full run down of meats, their quality, and specials for the night. The food was spectacular. Especially walking around all day, it hit the spot, and the portions are perfect! Towards the end, Billy the owner, came by and had the sweetest conversation with us, bringing more complimentary champagne and also paid for our dessert. He was the sweetest and his staff clearly think highly of him, as do we. We could not have asked for a better dinner and for better service! Everything was beyond exceptional and we look forward to going back soon!

It was my first time dinning at Halls. It was by far the greatest experiences I have ever had in a restaurant they take fine dining to a whole Nother level. The hospitality is unmatched to any other place. Literally I asked what time they closed They said the kitchen closes at 11 but we leave and close doors. Once the last customer has finished enjoying their meal to me that is something that is unheard of, usually people are pressuring you to ask for your bill to pay and leave here. They asked me if I was ready to see the dessert menu after 11 truly show a different side of southern hospitality. I will be coming back as I am from Texas and let me just say Hall chophouse was the cherry on top to my visit to Charleston. I will be back soon.

We live local and stopped in for lunch… we were sat immediately and waited forever for food. The server was great and the food was even better. The owner greeted us and they gave our kids complimentary cheesecake. We will def be back in Thanksgiving and I am sure sooner.

Very nice place to dine. For me it was about the customer service. The owner or head manager and assistant manager welcomed us several times and sincerely wanted us to have a great experience. The two team waiter team was phenomenal! And the live music. Wow! OUTSTANDING! However... you will not hear the live music while sitting in the dining room. Only in the bar area. We had field green salad, salmon, fried green tomatoes, and the shrimp and grits, and chocolate cake. Everything was outstanding. A MUST try.

Absolutely amazing! Even better than amazing. My boyfriend and I are on vacation in Charleston and we both agree we have never experienced EVER, the front of house and back of house service being so outstanding. From the moment we walked in the Maitre d’ greeted us with a smile and enthusiasm you do not see often when being greeted; she thoroughly enjoys her job. We had a 10pm reservation (the only reservation we could make for the week we were here because they were booked) and we showed up 30min early and they got us in right away. Jordan was our server and for all the years I’ve worked in the restaurant industry and owned a restaurant, she was the best server I have ever seen. Knowledgeable, happy, and attentive (I went to CIA and have worked with many people she is the best of the absolute best, keep her). From the greeting, to the service our drinks were the best we have had so far in Charleston, and then the food. You can tell that whoever is cooking the food truly loves what they do and care about the quality of dishes. If I could give this 10/10 stars I would and so would Eric. Thank you for a not just a culinary experience with food but also with your service

Wow! What and amazing experience here!Was greeted by the host as soon as we walked in and asked us what we were celebrating. Our server was great. Highly recommend the she crab soup and loaded mashed potatoes. Our waiter brought out the meat to show us what kind of steaks they had. They are flown from Japan and Chicago! The place gave us champagne and dessert on the house!! The owner walked up to our table and introduced himself as well. You feel like royalty eating here.

To say that Halls Chophouse was my favorite dining experience ever would be an understatement! We celebrated our anniversary at their Sunday Gospel Brunch and the staff, managers and owners went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated and well taken care of. The food is delicious and we ordered everything our waiter recommended and he did not steer us wrong. We will definitely be back!

I was making a pit stop in Charleston and decided to try this restaurant out because I heard the live music and thought this would be a good place to unwind for the night. I am so glad I did because everything was superb! The food, the service from the restaurant (OMG IT WAS AN Experience),and my magnificent waiter Lance(HE WAS WONDERFUL). Everything was wonderful. Lance went over and beyond to make sure that we I satisfied and had the most magnificent experience. The service from the restaurant was like no other. It was such a great experience. Their customer service was A-plus! If you have never been to this restaurant in downtown Charleston South Carolina, you really need to go. Trust me when I say it is an experience if I could I would give this restaurant 100 stars and give my waiter Lance 250 stars. Next time I visit Charleston South Carolina I will make it my business to eat at this restaurant again.

Fine dining for sure. I could hear the music before entering the restaurant, southern gospel. It reminded me of a Sunday service in church. It was Sunday brunch oh how delicious was the food. Our servers both names with a S I can't remember exactly but they gave us great suggestions and above top notch customer service. The drinks, pineapple mimosas were great as well. This restaurant is definitely stamped in my book. I see why you have to make a reservation way in advance I suggest. When planning your trip to Charleston call and make your reservations. I'm not sure if they play music everyday but the live band was a plus .
