Beautiful church, a must see when you are walking in the old town of Bergamo. The entrance is just 3€ for adults and 1€ for people under 25 years, but even if it cost more, it would still be worth it. The shades of green that they used on the ceiling really stood out for me, gorgeous colors.

Probably one of the most beautiful churches in the world. It's outside already beautiful, does not prepare you for the collection of medieval tapestries, renaissance wall- and ceiling-paintings, gorgeous wood carvings, or detailed marble sculptures awaiting you within. Truly a must see to anyone visiting the region.

Magnificent church building, outside and inside, from far and from near. It's also free to enter and visit. The different rich decorations, the details and materials, to include massive tapestries, are just stunning.

It's a major church with more than 800 years of history. From architecture to interior design are quite unique and special. I believe it's the first time I saw a church with such large proportion of tapestries and intarsia decoration. You can see different periods interior design along the past 800 years, very astonishing. The exquisite intarsia, which is a form of wood inlaying, is definitely a testimony to the Italian wood craftsmanship! I was really amazed by this basilica.

Very impressive. You have to pay to enter but if its too expensive you can still glance in from next to the ticket office. Once inside you can read about the history and observe the work being undertaken to renew and restore the building and it's ornate interior.

Spectacular cathedral. Free to enter. Located right next to many cafeterias and restaurants. Easy to get from Bergamo airport by bus or taxi.

There's a lot happening in the architecture and its decorative elements. The details can be fascinating, especially the arcs at the entrances on which every pilar is a different shape and material. However, there's a big mismatch in decorative elements inside. The entirety is overwhelming, as if they went overboard trying to impress people with their gold and lost sight of the idea of beauty. Even though the elements in itself are well made and interesting, the total was flashy and took my interest away quickly.

It’s a must in Bergamo old town. I recommend to take the funicular to reach it, but you really will enjoy the way by walk (steep streets).

Visited Bergamo Old Town today. You access this from from Bergamo New town via the venicular railway. This takes you to the top of the hill and into the old town. The town has 3 churches in the square which are amazing in their design and show the wealth of the church and those buried inside. The town has some lovely shops, bars and restaurants with a signature pasta dish called Casonchelli ravioli which is either sausage or cheese filling with amaretto crushed biscuit and butter served with a buttery sauce. It was delicious. They have a special cake covered with marzipan and little birds on top called le Polentine. Very rich sponge cake with chocolate buttercream and made with polenta instead of flour. Also chocolate chip ice cream was invented in Bergamo. The town is very beautiful with wonderful architecture and great views from the top over the new town. The floor are cobbled or laid in the parquet floor design which is very beautiful.

Note the opening times differ during weekdays: 07:30am-12:30pm, and 03:00pm-06:30pm. Opens throughout from 07:00am-07:00pm on weekends. But it is also closed if mass is in progress. Entrance is free for the devout, and tourists are expected to donate a fee at the entrance. The colorful frescos on the walls and ceilings are well kept, very detailed and colorful. Worth spending some time admiring the art.

A must see when visiting Bergamot. Magnificent view of the city from the wall. We walked along the wall in the summer heat, but there was a lot of shady places/ benches. At the end of the wall there is a small well with fresh water. Nice. And from there, there is only a few hundred meters to La Marianna where you can get a nice ice cream ;-)

UNBELIEVABLE VIEWS spent two days exploring the old city. Weather like the views was spectacular. Make sure you have comfy shoes on makes all the difference. Lots of places to eat and drink. Go up in the Finicular (both of them) and walk back down you won't be disappointed

Beautiful path to walk from Lower Bergamo to Upper (old) Bergamo. You get a great view of the city and even get to do some exercise (to burn those pasta calories). There is a chairlift service available as well.

Horrible woman working inside, angrily shouting at people taking pics with mobile phones. Lots of churches in Italy where there are signs banning camera with flash so some folks were a bit confused. Not a nice way to treat tourists.

Beautiful! Just lovely place... only spoilt my experience was the lady who worked there who was on her own phone the whole time, but was being rude do everyone who had missed the small sign outside of the building that said no pictures... so yeah don't take pictures or the lady will man handle you like she did me! Rude.

I have there a few times! It’s really nice even if it’s a little small, but there are quite a lot of paintings and some rooms are stunning! It has been recently renovated and there will be a reorganization of the rooms in the foreseeable future. It’s definitely a must see if you plan to visit Bergamo, the museum it’s in the historical district of S. Caterina and five minutes walk from Porta S. Agostino, one of the main doors to reach the Upper Town, the historical core of the city.

Welcoming staff at the entrance, reasonable prices, beautiful gallery, huge collection with some very important pieces (see photos). It took me about 90mins or just over to see everything. This art gallery is definitely one of the jewels to see in beautiful Bergamo. I went on a Monday afternoon in July. There was only a handful of other visitors, but the staff mentioned it can get really busy at weekends.

For a provincial museum this place has an astonishing collection of art works thanks to 4 major bequests. Staff were super helpful and informative. When we visited the museum was very quiet and tranquil and one could wander the exhibits at leisure.

It’s one of the Best Art Museum in Bergamo. Definitely recommended to visit it. Paintings from Tenth century till Nineteenth century are represented here. With each painting they have also mentioned some details about each of them. Along with the name of painter, year when it’s painted, materials used & also story related to it is mentioned. This makes it more interesting for people who love Art & Sculptures. The staff is very cooperative and kind. I have went with my School group & we have bought tickets in advance to avoid queue. Surely you won’t regret visiting it. Totally worth it. 10/10 overall.

Very kind and helpful staff for a wonderful place to visit. Everything beautifully organised and explained. The staff provided information for anything needful, besides the art itself - age-related ticket discounts, possibility of leaving the museum for lunch and returning with the same museum pass.

Allow about 2 hours to do justice to this wonderful collection of artworks, which takes you from the Renaissance in the 15th Century through to the 19th Century. Thoughtfully presented in chronological order by artist, there is enough information next to each painting to inform you without overwhelming. We bought a Visitor's Guide for €8 which has photos of many of the best examples from each era, and the information as displayed in the Academy - a really good souvenir for anyone interested in Art History. If you prefer there are also audio guides or tablet guides available for hire.

Exquisite gallery, with a great variety of paintings of a wide chronological range and eras. Greatly cared-for place. Highly recommended!

A trip into the middle ages. A very beautiful place with an exquisite ambiance and charm. The pizza was really REALLY good and the pasta too (though I personally preferred the pizza). The prices are average range but I really didn't like the fact that they charge us for the seat!! Aside all that the food was great. I also really liked the fact that the menu has labels regarding plates that are vegan/vegetarian so I thought it was very thoughtful and nice.

We came here on a recommendation from the woman in the hotel lobby for our 2 day stay in Bergamo before we fly to Dublin. Incredible meal, delightful service in a cute cute cute little place with a lovely garden patio in the back. The wine selection was also really nice. The local ravioli was soft and tender in a browned butter sauce with little bits of crunchy bacon and sage. The gazpacho was such a surprise with little pleasantly chewy small bites of eggplant in the tomato soup and a healthy dollop of burratta floating in the middle. Great for a hot summer day, and definitely worth the hike up the hill.

I was here in the start of march, everyone was so kind. The food arrived quickly, I ordered on of the special pizzas and it was amazing. Also here I had the best dessert of my life, I ordered the tiramisu and as soon as I ate it I wanted to order a second one. 5 stars!

Thought it might be overhyped but we came away very satisfied The Restaurant and tables keeps going, with a tented pavilion area at the back with heaters (great for autumnal nights). Guiseppe was our waiter and, as with all the staff, was welcoming and friendly. We kept it simple with pizzas, puddings and plenty of wine. €100 May seem a little step, but everything was exceptional. The place is a step up from most of the restaurants we frequent. Just a lovely evening.

not worth it. the food was good, but nothing special. to be honest u could find a less expensive place with better food. we probably were SCAMMED. we paid 7 euros each for the “service fee”. we didn’t know how does it work in Italy, so we thought that maybe it’s a normal thing, but after spending a few days in Italy we understood that the average service fee is about 1-3 euros, BUT NOT 7! u must be aware of that! one good thing is the decoration of the hall and dishes

After all these good rating, I expected the food to be something special. It wasn't. We had a pizza which I could have anywhere, and rabbit with polenta, which was very dry, oily and not recently cooked. Our waiter was recommending the most expensive dishes from the menu, being kind of pushy.

Came early on a Monday evening and were one of the first few there. Huge place and so once seated felt a little like we’d chosen the wrong place as many other were full. Then we saw the reserved tables and quickly figured it wouldn’t be long before the place would be full. Started off with a Spritz. Perfect. Ordered a pizza to start, perfect. By the time we finished the place was full. Moved to mains, the risotto and ravioli (meat), again perfect. Sipped a wonderful local wine, then decided we’d pig out and go for another pizza. Again, perfect. Service was superb. Place’s vibe was great once it filled up and we left tipsy, full and satisfied. Wonderful local spot. Beautiful old town. Thank you.

Best pizzeria in town with original and sediment local products. Great selection of pizza, from classics to creative, plus beers and wines. If you go early you can always find a seat, but better to book by phone. Service fast and kind.

The place was beautiful. The food and ambience were really good. There were lot of options for vegetarians. I forgot to take photos of the deserts but they were also good. Place really worth trying in Alta Bergamo.

Excellent pizza - I found out the dough is left to rest for 24 hours and they also use sourdough - which explains why their pizza was much better than others as well as using excellent fresh quality ingredients. Home made panettone with a cream on the side and home made tiramisu. Excellent ingredients. The waiters were quite professional and attentive, in particular Enzo served us on the terrace who was very quick, and I noticed he constantly looked around making sure that everyone’s needs were met. He gave excellent service. Lovely to eat al fresco in the summer. Dog friendly and a waitress brought us a bowl of water without us asking. Lovely interior and decor.

The place is quite popular and therefore reservation is needed. We went for dinner on a weekday and still, the place is full of customers. It is a long walk from a free parking lot (have to climb the hill for a good 40 minutes, depending on where you park). Food is really good especially the local cheese. Their specialty is really special. Despite the high numbers of customers, the service is relatively fast

Highly recommended restaurant with ample seating. No reservation and we walked straight in. Massive terraced area so even if you have to wait for a table it would not be long. The food and wines were delicious and well priced. Service was great and everything came out quickly except for one pizza that had a mix up. But when it eventually came out it was hit and tasty. Recommend you sample the local specialties.

Tasty food and overall atmosphere. Staff were really friendly and helpful, on the other hand "seating management" appeared to be kinda slow in the beggining, which contradicted with sensible prices charged in the bill for related services. Apart from that, everything can be considered nice experience.

Reasonably priced food on two occasions. Mid week they do a good value lunch menu not to be found on weekends. Staff might be a little slow, and then abrupt esp when the pigeons fly by expecting the customers to deal with the matter. However this didn't spoil a decent meal and decent wine. Better quality midweek though.

It’s just perfect!! Super affordable, absolutely delicious, the staff is extremely polite and nice, the atmosphere is amazing, both the space for the cafe and especially the terrace for the restaurant. The food is delicious, it has a wide range of options and two super affordable menus, the desserts are also fulfilling, and for the vegetarian fellas like me, the cheesecake is great and without any jelly so it’s safe for us animal friends too! Yes I’m recommending it. Just perfect and obviously in the most beautiful place in Bergamo.

Amazing cheese selection, delicious pizza. Tasty tiramisu. A bit of a waiting time for the food but overall experience was pretty nice. There is a huge hidden garden with a view. The waiters were helpful and paying attention.

Very nice place that has been recommended to us by our host. We ordered appetizers and some local specials and everything was very tasty. Drinks (Aperol) at very good prices, compared to the places in the old town. In general, for the whole dinner for 2, with 2 main dishes and drinks we paid 47 euro. The service was fast and polite. I will come back to this restaurant for sure.

I must admit that I have never seen a queue to a restaurant before its open hour but this one, there were like 10 people waiting for it to open and there were like 10 minus before opening hour ! The serving, excellent! They are very professional! I got a bit worried as I was reading a few bad reviews but I guess sometimes is about luck too! Indeed you have to pay 2,5€ per person but the services are exceptional, I would give them every time if I were to be served as here! The food, amazing! The pizza, sensational! The house wise, delicious ! I can tell by the number of people in the restaurant that this is a popular restaurant and after I had the lunch here, I cannot agree more! The shots, at the end, are crazy!! Very nice flavors, loved it!!

We visited the place as we see the good rates. The welcome was nice. Salad and pizza 🍕 was traditional . I wish i could eat more because pasta 🍝 was looking even better but i was full. The waiter was more than a pro. Fast, polite, and always on eye contact with his customers. Well done for the high quality .

My review might be biased a bit because we came in a bit late (2:20pm), but the service was awful and rude, which in my opinion not acceptable even more because there is a 2.5€ service fee per person. We were able to order only pizza, which was generally good except the one with seafood, but the experience altogether was poor.

You can’t go wrong with them! I ordered the spaghetti with pepper and clams while my girlfriend at the gnocchi. I think that generally, my girlfriend and I do not enjoy gnocchi that much, BUT it still tasted good. The spaghetti was delicious and the portion of clams and pasta was considerably large (do take note that we are tiny Asians so what is large for us might be normal for others). The waiter was friendly, but I was a little hard to get his attention. It might be because we were seating way back but not a big issue.

Nice place with tables outside. We tried to order food and drinks while the lady was walking away to another table when we were taking to her. She did not write anything down. After 5 mins she came back to confirm that we ordered risotto and lasagne for main dishes. We received lasagne and not risotto but these small dumplings (regional dish). They were OK, but the edges of the dough were a bit hard. On the receipt we noticed a coffee we didn't order. It was for €2 so we didn't do anything with it as coperto was not included. Portions were small for such price and we had to go eat another lunch after 1.5h.

The pasta you get on your plate… Undescribable. The taste is unprecedented. Lalimentari was our choice for lunch when visiting Bergamo. We enjoyed selection of local and typical Bergamo dishes, especially delicious pasta. I would highlight very tasty beer - I assume home made. Very nice experience for us. One interesting point - even though the restaurant is located right in the center at Piazza Vecchia it is not typical touristic place of low quality just to catch attention of the foreigners. Quite the opposite, very delicious and high quality restaurant.

Quite expensive and very small portions! The food was amazing and staff were attentive to our table, with great service, but I couldn’t quite get over the prices, as maybe it was because we were in the centre with lovely building around us, but I don’t know. They also add a €3 charge per person! Definitely something to watch out for!

Right on the Piazza, excellent lunch! Shaded outdoor seating, there are different sections depending on what you want, snack/breakfast, drinks, lunch or dinner. Go to the staff by the main entrance and request a table. I had the best noodles with porcini and sauce. Polenta was excellent and the gnocchi.

Had a lovely lunch here a few weeks ago. It was busy, but the staff were efficient and friendly. We were in Italy for a month and this was voted by my family as the best pasta we’d eaten. Great spot for relaxing and people watching. There is also a large area inside for dining too. Reasonably priced.

We were here for lunch on a Sunday. We shared a grilled polenta, then each had a seafood pasta. The friendly waiter told us "Good luck" as he brought our pasta dishes. It was because they were big, and loaded with seafood. Good thing we shared one appetizer, and still had room for the pasta. And the pasta plates were good! Way better than the same seafood pasta I had in Venice 5 nights earlier. Two tables adjacent to us saw our plates, and asked the waiter for the same.

Good pizza and lovely location. No need to book as they have lots of place. No need to say more! Wine just made everything go down so well ;) Oh and did I mention they do Gluten Free Pizza!?

Such a lovely and cozy place in Bergamo! Pizza was so good and tiramisu was perfect! We ate here 5 of us and very tired from the flight. But the staff was so nice and funny. We had really great time. And were so happy about the best food. Also the prices are good. Portions not too big this is good for us. It was full of people but the staff did such a great job! Cheescake more than good too! Much recommend. They have a lot of space. It is a place in the front of the restaurant, inside and in the back jard too!

Visited that place randomly and it was the best decision I could make in Bergamo. Friendly atmosphere, fast and helpful staff and amazing food - casoncelli and pizza. House wine is also great and cheap.

We decided to eat here, because the weather was nice and the little plaza looked great. The menu is displayed outside, so you can check the prices before coming in. We were seated and served in a friendly and efficient manner. My husband ordered a calzone and I couldn't make up my my mind between linguine and polenta dish, so decided to order both with intention to share pasta with my husband. I read somewhere that it's considered rude to order dishes to split, so I was worried about the reaction, but no need - when I ordered two dishes the waiter asked himself if I wish to split one of them. I was expecting a dish with extra plate, but they actually served our shared pasta on two plates, both beautifully presented. We were very impressed! By the way, the seafood linguine portion is massive, if I had the whole portion there was no way I could eat anything else. The beef and polenta dish with red wine sauce was devine, meat was beautifully cooked and tender. Husband also enjoyed his calzone. The prices were very reasonable, aperol much cheaper than in Milan. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. I would definitely eat here again.

The food is okay, but the service is a mess. A lot of waiters, and yet waiting for the main course almost an hour after getting the appetizer. In the meantime, other people were getting the same dishes and we had to wait.
