The place itself is quite amazing, reflection of Greek architecture - not quite similar to acropolis but reminds you of it. Tickets are €10 pp parking depends on how much time you spend there, we paid €1.50 for being there close to an hour. Incredible views, could easily spend a great deal of time at this place. However, getting here was a nightmare. Every road that you think you can take here - the highways - were CLOSED OFF!! We got turned around and there are no cut off roads for you to make a U turn because they are closed off too - we went here April 12, 2022. The only road that was open cut through a small town and it also had a bunch of speed traps. The re-route delayed us by close to 2 hours🥴🥴🥴 The speed limit went from 80 to 50 to 40 within a matter of seconds. Be careful while driving and if possible check for road closures and alternate routes beforehand. There is a restaurant, but we just used the facilities and got some fresh squeezed blood orange juices to go. The website says it closes at 1.30pm but by the time we left it was a little after 2pm and people were still buying tickets.

Came here with a 4 year old and 2 year old and low expectations. This place was a blast! We parked in the East lot, took a cab to the top, and walked back down to our car. Shame you have to return the audio tour back to the same gate, I would have loved to hear about the rich history here, but the signage was sufficient. 10/10 one of the best things to do in Sicily.

Wander and feel this ancient site 📜 …visiting Sicily it’s a must! If the season is hot, I’d recommend to start your visit around 1700 or later and benefit from the site being open in the evening. The sunset is beautiful here.

Amazing place and amazing route by surely the best preserved temples of the world from the Greek times. It is definitely worth a visit, although reaching the valley by car can be a bit tiring if you drive from Palermo or from the Eastern part of Sicily. Tips: if the day is sunny and hot better go with an umbrella and litres of water because there’s no shadow at all there.

Absolutely beautiful valley charged with so much history! Recommend to join a guided group (you can ask on the spot when buying your ticket) or take an audio guide, to fully hear the story of each temple. Some of them are well preserved, others less, but their story and evolution in time are impressive. Best to visit in the first hours of the day or before sunset (if the latter better to enter from the west entrance and walk to the east, as this shines a superb view on the temples). But me aware that from west to east it’s sloping upwards. (However a mild ish slope). Paid large parking available. There is a bit of a walk - about 2-2,5km one direction, a little bus can be taken for the return.

Absolutely breathtaking!!! Pictures do no justice it's a must see in Agrigento. Highly recommended going with a guide..there is so much history and knowledge that could be missed without one. We had Teresa! She was fabulous! Extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Made the experience that much more enjoyable. Wonderful experience

Really nice place full of history. Very well preserved Temples and Statues. The entrance price is very affordable. I think the best time to visit is during evening. I'm sure sunsets are amazing here. Even without the amazing history, the view of the surrounding hills from the top is breathtaking.

An incredible place to visit. The 2.2km walk across the valley isn't that long, but caution if you're going in the summer. It's like an oven!! We did an audio guide, but it wasn't that great. I would have been fine just walking around and seeing the temples. There's two major ones, one on either ends of the walk, with the bigger one near the end.

The place was amazing. It’s very beautiful view. Employees are friendly and nice, but they don’t speak other language than Italian. It’s very hard to be a tourist and deal with the language. They have a crazy rule about tripods so you’re not allowed to take pictures with a tripod so all the solo travelers like me we cannot have good pictures because we are solo and this is exactly the reason why solo travelers use tripods so I don’t get this .. they Blamed on UNESCO saying that is their rules but I was in Greece and they don’t care if you have a tripod so I don’t know what’s going on in this place but a guard come to me and start shouting to me because I was using my tripod and I am a solo traveler. I need a tripod. I don’t understand what’s going on with the humans, but this is crazy. Also, the place has no proper signals And I think that is missing some cleaning person on the toilets because the toilets were really dirty. Also these is cause turist are dirty .. is amazing how dirty they can be 🥹I think the government or whoever is taking the administration of this place is doing a bad job. Maybe it’s cause they don’t have a good people to hire but still we are talking about history and you need good people to share the history, so I am not happy with the With the whole experience.. better go to Greece 😇

This was definitely an amazing experience! Alot of History behind this Superb Architecture. You have to experience it to believe it. There's also a nice little Cafe within the compound and the sandwiches were delicious. According to my friends who actually had one said the Anchovy sandwich was unbelievable.

Great place for a walk. It can take up to 3 hours if walking with kids. They can jump on fallen temple rock which is fun 😊 bit must be careful. There is also cafe where you can by common Italian food and coffee.

Amazing place, rich in history. One of the best places to visit in Sicily. The only problem was finding the entrance. There was a lack of directions/signs. Google maps didn’t take us to the correct place (we later found out that this was because the main ticket office had moved). So plan your route carefully to make sure you get the best out of your visit. Take some water too as there is only one cafe and is quite a walk from the entrance.

An absolutely do-not-miss site in Sicily, and one you really should visit first thing in the morning. The significance of this site cannot be overstated. Incredible examples of Hellenistic temples in Italy, the structures tell the tale of Greece's once great power in the region, and it's eventual fading with increasing Roman dominance. The hot Sicilian days will feel even hotter on this site with little shade and often little wind to cool you. Get there early both to beat the crowds (buses, so many buses) and the heat! There is little information on site to interpret what you are seeing, so get some information from a reliable website, a good tour book (we used Rick Steves), or the audio guide (we did not use this ourselves). Park at the eastern gate and walk to the west, seeing the temples as you go, then decide if you want to pay for the one-way taxi back to your car. Then, DO NOT MISS the museum! On the northwest side of the site, it has so many artifacts and is so cheap to add on to your ticket to the valley. Parking is free at the museum and totally worth it. Don't try and park at the museum to see the valley, however, the distance is not practical and you don't want to wait for city buses...

Enter The Valley of the Temple from the door. 5 (porta V) is the closest entrance to the gardens. The entrance will be next to the first temple. By giardino they mean a mainly lemon fields and a small vegetable garden. The cave can’t be visit without a previous booking so make sure you book un advance. No information charts are around the area so it makes the visit a bit boring without much info. I believe the place has great potential but a thought storytelling is needed. Many benches and places for a rest is good so bring food and you can sit here.

Wow! Beautiful botanical garden on the site of the ancient Greek garden at the foot of the Valley of Temples. Also not to miss: the "hypogeum" -- an ancient tunnel carved through the hill (under the Temple of Castor and Pollux) joining the garden with the Fifth Gate. After baking your brains out visiting the temple complex under the merciless sun, treat yourself.

Worth a detour to see all the varieties of fruit trees grown and sample some as you wander around. The temple of Vulcan was probably not worth the walk over. We also tasted a variety of marmalades they make - delicious. Also try the nut sweets.

Nice garden inside the park, with some local trees like lemon, orange, almond, chinotto. It is interesting but comparing with the rest of park, not sure if it is worth the 5€ additional for the ticket.

If you like ruins and history, this place is amazing. The ruins are in very good condition. Some have been reconstructed, but the main temple is the original as it was used as a church and thus not destroyed for its stone. If possible, I strongly suggest that you hire a local guide as there is so much rich history and so many stories with this area. We learned so much from our guide, Marco. He was very kind and took the time to really explain to my son the history and about archeology. If ruins and temples are not your thing, then skip. However, if you are interested in seeing and learning about history from over 2400 years ago, this is your place. I’m glad we made the stop here and we also enjoyed a one night stay in the town.

Not much to see. With 10 euro for the valley of temples, there are soooo many more things to see.

If you are not from the Mediterranean, you will enjoy the trip and discover all kind of plants and trees as a perk, and if you are lucky, you can pick up seasonal fruits there was a possibility to have a guide and explore caves staff are nice and helpful

Disorganized and overpriced. Unfortunately, this museum feels more like a Greek art warehouse than a museum. It's obvious that the collection it holds is impressive. Some of the vases are absolutely breathtaking. But visiting it is a tiring experience: no one has bothered to think that not all the pieces in such al large collection can be exhibited as if they all had the same relevance. The mere chronological order without any map or diagram to help understand in a little bit easier way the origin of the displayed pieces makes the visit tedious. This place is a great proof that not only an excellent collection is necessary to make an enjoyable museum. You need the aim to tell in an orderly and understandable way why the pieces that it holds are remarkable. This museum lacks that and it's a shame. The place is old and could use some renovations. The vase collection is amazing, but I'm not sure the place is totally worth it, as the ticket is quite expensive (and they even intend to charge you extra if you want a map of the archaeological site!)

The Museum was great - getting there was a challenge - our tickets to the Valley of the Temples included the museum but the access was closed and we had to walk on the road (not very safe) for a while. Suggest taking a car directly there. Once we got there it was beautiful and stopped at the small cafe for a glass of wine and snacks before we hiked back to the car. They were so kind and gave us a pizza complementary. Plan about 30-40 minutes. Spend longer to enjoy the grounds.

Very beautiful and interesting items. Too bad the signage and other information in English was disatisfactory. The signs were either completely in Italian or all the information wasn’t translated. Also there should be more information putting the exhibited items in context. Maybe that was only written in Italian though? You shouldn’t have to do your own research before going to a museum to understand it. That is the job of the museum and here I think they fail. Also hard to get to by walking. There should be a footpath from the Valley of Temples to the museum.

The collection includes amazing pieces and there's free bathrooms (once you've paid for your ticket). The parking lot is badly marked though, and the information about the items in the collection is not terribly thorough. The items deserve a bit better.

Mandatory visit before or after seeing Valley of the Temples. This museum deserves way, way more praise than it gets… it feels unreal to see so closely some of its artifacts. Zeus Room is breathtaking, a small yet overwhelming glimpse into the past of the largest greek temple to have existed.

For March 14, 2022, around 1:30 pm and following. Again with the employees talking loudly all the time in a museum. Just like spoiled children or something. Shut up already. How am I supposed to enjoy my visit? At the snack bar out back, there was a young man who came to speak to/harass(?) the young woman working there. Extremely rude he was. He kept talking loudly while I was trying to order my food. Did not stop at all. This happened once when I was first ordering, then again when I came in for the desserts, and a third time when I came in to pay. Ridiculous.

Large museum, featuring the archeological discoveries made in Agrigento (so lots of Greek history). This museum is located about 20 minutes on foot from Valle dei templi and is worth a visit. A reduced ticket costs €4 and a full ticket costs €8. There is lots of information provided, contextualising the displays. The signs are written in both Italian and English. There are also places to sit for children and less mobile visitors.

The Archaeological Museum Piero Griffo contains Greek pottery and relics collected locally. It has in its central hall a giant statute if a man that would of decorated on of temples which would have been dedicated to Zeus.

It is hard to describe the mixture of history, landscape and flair in the whole area - you need to experience it for yourself! It is very well organized historic park/ district with guides in 3 languages - Italian, French and English! Step by step / temple by temple you have the opportunity to dive in the history and events that took place thousands of years ago! The parking lots ate more than enough and don't forget to bring water with you, because it is really hot up there in the summer!

Beautiful and very interesting. We had a excellent guide Michele who made us the sunset tour. Very interesting and nice guide. In summer it's better to visit the place at sunset or evening, the place is really hot and there is not so much shadow.

One of the best preserved temples, this and Temple of Concordia are the main most majestic temples in the valley. It's the first one you get to see if entering from here, Ingresso e biglietteria Valle dei Templi - Tempio di Giunone, as we did. As we came by car, we parked at Gate V, took the 3 EUR per person taxi to the other end, and only walked the way back (2,5 hour promenade). This was also recommended by our hosts, and it's also presented at the Gate V entrance. Then we paid the admission ticket of 10€ at the second entrance, less than 5 min waiting line, same price as on their official website. No need to pay triple for skip the line. You can also pay 5€ extra for the museum, but that's located in a totally separate area, so you can pay directly at the museum if decidint to visit. We didn't. As it's usually super hot (we visited in June), it's advisable to wear a hat and get some sunscreen. We weren't prepared, but we bought some hats at the entrance for around 15€/piece (there's lots of options), which turned out super useful and a nice memory to take home. :) Several spots where you can fill up your water bottle, plus a nice cafeteria with drinks, sweets and snaks close to the main temple of Concordia.

Beautiful place! The entrance is hard to find, that can be improved. But the place itself is magical. It is easy to walk along all the historical sights. Be aware to use sunscreen and wear a hat as it can be very hot and there is little to no shadow during the day.

The Valley of the Temples in Agrigento houses a magnificent historical temple that has stood the test of time. It is an ancient Greek temple that was constructed in the 5th century BCE and is remarkably preserved to this day. The temple was dedicated to Hera, the Greek goddess who was known as Juno in Roman mythology, and it is an impressive representation of Doric architecture. Visitors are drawn to this site to admire its rich history and pay homage to this mythological deity.

Here you can see many of the ruins that once were towering Sicily. It's a lot to walk so dome people may not enjoy but for me it was great, even though tickets are 10 euros!

The valley of the temples - parking near the entrance is basically a poorly maintained rocky field, with ticket barrier entrance. The valley is historic for a number of Greek temples, some of the best conserved examples still in existence. Avoid during the hot hours of the day (it is open till very late!). Plenty of bathroom facilities and a bar along the ~2-3km route, there is also a shuttle bus that drives up and down (for extra fee)

The temple is one of the most preserved temples outside of Greece. Definitely a sight to see if you are in the area. There is a statue that was donated by Igor Mitoraj that is depicting Icarus without his legs or arms. And if you know the story of Icarus his father told him not to fly too close to the sun because his wings were made out of wax but he did it anyways and died. The temple is well preserved because of it being converted to a Christian church after it's pagan beliefs it was built on were gone. It is a great temple and it is wonderful that it still stands today.

Incredible history! Stunning views! But, people PLEASE be respectful of this ancient place, signs states no climbing on the old rocks, but you can't fix stupid! Thankfully, our tour guide yelled at them!

Great views, best to arrive early to avoid queues, the Italians an other tourists turned up around 12pm. Ample parking for cheap and also some food and a cafe at the entrance. Do not pay for the Garden tickets as you can go inside for free once you reach the end of the tour.

Super impressive ancient site. Note that you can't go into the structure but walking around it is satisfying. I have been 2x and I recommend either seeing it at night or times when the sun isn't super strong. There are several places to fill up you water bottle but you will be drinking lots of water.

One of our favourite restaurants from our Sicily trip. Excellent ingredients with high quality ingredients and balanced flavours. Not too salty. Our favourites were the octopus salad and stuffed calamari.

Came here mid-September after a long day of driving from Syracuse and exploring Valle Dei Templi in the afternoon, and it delivered! Service, atmosphere, food and drink were all top notch, it couldn’t have been better. We were easily able to get a table without a reservation. However, if you want to eat sat outside then I’d recommend booking a table.

Recommended by the host of our B&B, this meal ended up being one of our favorite during our trip to Sicily. Amazing value—just because the prices are low doesn’t mean the portions are small! We ended up ordering too much. The strudel, pumpkin paccheri, pappardelle ragu, and Brusciuluneddru can all be highly recommended. The wait staff was also very friendly.

This is a gem in Agrigento! Recommended by our B&B this restaurant did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic. Our waiter Salvo was so welcoming and friendly whilst being very professional, the other Salvo on the bar side was also very welcoming making our experience unforgettable!

So disappointing due to an almost complete lack of service. We were encouraged to come to the bar before the kitchen opened but when our reservation time came and went, we kept being told the kitchen wasn’t ready only to see numerous other parties being seated. Then it took another 20 minutes for our order to be taken. After we received our food, no one checked in and then after we finished we had to wait another 20 minutes to pay the bill. Others around us were similarly left waiting. The food was ok built not worth all the waiting.

Good restaurant with nice food creations. Starter (potatoes and mushrooms with goat cheese) and dessert (pistacio couscous) is absolutely recommendable. Main courses are good standard but nothing special. Grilled vegetables as side dish is poor because the portion is small and flat from taste... Even in the afternoon there is a lot of traffic at the street which is a little disturbing.

Had dinner for two at 900pm on a Saturday night. The restaurant was mostly empty when we arrived but was packed by 1030pm. The food was ok but not great. All dishes were nicely presented but under seasoned. The steak entree came out rare and seemed to have no seasoning. Pasta dishes were better. Dinner for two was about 120 Euros including wine. Moderately attentive staff, they got very busy by the end of the night. Great views of the ruins, this place would be spectacular on a full moon night...

I have eaten at some of the great restaurants in some of the great cities of this world. Places like this are my favorite. Unexpected, in all the best ways. Affordable, beautiful, and perfect. When I go to Sicily, it is worth the trip to Agrigento just to eat here. The food is that good. And the wine list, is as unexpectedly incredible as the food. 10/10 stars for authenticity, quality, and satisfaction.

Great high-end place to eat in Agrigento. If you are lucky, you make get a table with a view of the temples. The service was very personable and friendly. The fried seafood and red shrimp with artichoke mousse were delicious. The red snapper for the main course was ok.

Love this restaurant so much !! They only serve great, selective, qualitative foods and drinks. You will get everything good since the first thing you order. Beer is great taste (From an aspect of beer lover: my husband). Foods are really like gastronomic restaurant, but remain local taste. Another impression for me is that they choose the super high end tea to serve you. I mean how many restaurants out there just choose any tea brand, it can replace, but not a pleasure. Just this little detail of the selection. You can see how the owner cares about the taste. So Don't forget to stop by !

A nice restaurant with a stunning view of the temples and a nice ambience. Unfortunately I need to give one star minus for the food. I had a vegetarian option (for a Michelin candidate maybe not enough options) and I noticed that the composition is not very amazing. The taste of the second course (picture 1) was good but not really special. It felt that something is missing (unbalanced). Anyway the service and wine was good, the ricotta dish (picture 2) was on point!

We were getting hungry and a bit tired from a long day so we found this resturant tucked back from the main street. We were hesitant to sit down at first because there were only a few people there but we were rewarded with a delicious dinner. My wife had a sea bass and I had cadonnara with house wine. Both meals were well cooked, seasoned and fresh. We found out later that one of the owners had passed away but the chef is still turning out great food. Also, don't let the older women taking your order fool you she is like a Sicilian pastry, a hard shell hiding a soft and sweet center.

Most favored restaurant in Sicily in terms of not only the food itself but the overall atmosphere. Almost poetically written menu, cooked and served with sincerity.

As much as we’d like to support grandpa businesses, this restaurant is just very very average, if not less. The two of us got charged 7 euro for the bread, which is the highest we’ve ever had in the entire Sicily trip. The seafood pasta was very plain and nothing special, we had to ask for cheese to make it edible. We asked for tiramisu for dessert but got served something that has absolutely nothing to do with tiramisu like a cream nuts cup, which my husband is allergic to. The house wine is very cheap quality, we had stomachache after dinner. The price of the menu is also higher than average you get in Agrigento, even with places that are in much nicer environment. Would not recommend this restaurant.

It was top of my list of places to eat the day I arrived in Agrigento but I didn't manage to get there until my last day and I definitely saved the best for last! The whole dining experience was perfect from the moment I stepped through the door right up to the end! I ordered the beef tartar, black pork in red wine and roasted mushrooms, all of which were great but the absolute best was the service I received from all the staff which was a huge welcome relief after a bad experience the previous night at a different restaurant. Price is very reasonable for the quality of service and food that you receive. Thank you again Sal8 for such a lovely evening.

What an incredible place! We discovered many amazing restaurants during our trip in Sicily but this one is just on another level. The food is outstanding, the atmosphere and location are great and the staff super friendly. We even had the chance to take home a bottle of local olive oil which to die for. Anytime again when I am on the island.

I must say here I've had the best experience. We have tried many dishes in 2 days in a row, and every dish was exceptional. You can get very good food everywhere on Sicily, but Salotto is on the next level and not only in food. Its staff makes this place so unique - team is brilliant and everyone takes care of every guest, they are so kind and attentive! I absolutely recommend this restaurant, you will be happy here and you will come back.

What a fantastic experience here. We arrived earlier than opening time to be greeted by a very experienced and attentive waiter Naufel he made the dining experience the best we could have wished for. Combining tables even before opening time to offer welcome drinks for both adults & children. The food was divine I have attached pictures of the Octopus starter and Nero pasta all of the dishes ordered were superb. The host Naufel and his team were experienced and served with exceptional attentiveness to our family of 11 ! The price was good the experience and food memorable. Thank you we recommend this place if you can get a table at this popular place.

I normally don’t leave reviews but this place was outstanding in every possible way 😍! The true culinary gem of Agrigento. The service was amazing and you feel personally cared for. And this only gets topped by the utterly delicious food. I don’t even know where to start: the octopus, the tonno tonnato, the mains, etc. This will probably be our culinary highlight in Sicily and that says a lot! Go try if you can 😊

Sal8 truly stands out as the best dining experience I had during my trip. The food was outstanding, with amazing flavors that left a lasting impression. The service was impeccable, and I was so impressed that I visited twice, rearranging my schedule to do so. I highly recommend trying the linguine with shrimp and the scotto steak, as well as the delectable cannolo for a taste of Sicilian authenticity. Don't miss out on the delightful black sheep dessert either. Overall, this restaurant is a must-visit for an unforgettable culinary journey in Agrigento.

We went here twice, once for pizza and the next day for sea food. Pizza was OK, but the sea food was amazing ! We got two plates to share and it was certainly a enough 😃

Great location wirh view of temples valley. Traditional Sicilian gourmets and nice service!

This place is quite understated from the street, but opens onto a terrace with a great view down to the sea. I was eating alone, but they didn't make any fuss and were really friendly. There are dishes marked out as more traditionally Sicilian, which was great to get a feel for local dishes (both of which were great!). They also had local craft beer.

The restaurant has a lovely view of the valley, which is worth coming here alone. Thankfully, the food is also very nice. We had the ragu pasta, which is highly recommended. The meat plate was also quite nice. Good servings for family style sharing and the pizzas looked good although we did not order them.
